Deirdre shook her head and showed her twin the little puncture wound. "It's 'aight'. Not bleedin' no more." She looked back into the entrance. There were candles, but they glew blue instead of gold, and that set her on edge. Hesitantly she followed Kaito.
It was a huge room. The doorway was only a quarter of it's height and when she looked up, she saw bats on the cavelike ceiling. Then she looked down.
In the center of the room, on a natural stone pedestool sat a book. "Look there." Deirdre pointed and approached, standing on her tippy toes to get a peek. It was bound in red leather, with a strap across it that had a golden buckle. "What kind of a story is it, do you think?"
Naturally, because of her blood, she didn't feel the immensce aura of evil and despair that leeked from the pages. If anything, what she did feel made her reach for it.

"Kay." Kaito smiled faintly. At least the door hadn't really hurt her. If it had - the boy looked back towards the giant red thing and quickly imagined many ways to torch or shred it to pieces.
It was the room that quickly made him forget the door. "Woah." He looked at the candles with curiosity, how were they? The whole place reeked of fear and intimidation, which of course made the toddler even more interested in it.
"Oh?" Kaito stood on his tippy toes beside of his twin to get a good look at the strange book. "Borin' probably." He commented, "Look, Deirdre it has no pics on teh front. So borin'." He paused though as he found himself attracted to the book as well. Kaito looked over at Deirdre torn before gasping, "What if it's one of dos adult wrated things that mommy says would burn our eyes out if we read it?" That would explain why it was bound...but not really cuz he'd seen some others sneak adult books inside before. Kaito frowned. This was so, sooo weird.

Her tiny fingers ran over the clasp, her claws lengthing in response to it's powerful aura. Something about it made her want to open it, and run away at the same time. Deirdre looked at Kaito and frowned. "You think?" He did have a point. Where were the pictures?
She gasped and put a hand over her mouth. "Shhh! Not 'upposed to talk 'bout that stuff.." Even if it was that kind of book, what was it doing way down here, all alone, in the dark? "It can't be that bad. Let's see if we can-"
"Figures."
Deirdre turned around with a squeel to see Adrian leaning in the doorway, his gaunt face an emotionless mask. His crossed arms swung down at his sides as he moved across the room. "I expected it to be found one day, but not by toddlers." Placing one hand on each of their heads, he looked down at the source of his eternal imprisonment. "I don't mind curiosity, but locked doors are locked for a reason."

Something was riling the shadows up around them and it made the toddler nervous. "Yeah I do." Kaito nodded though his eyes were slightly gleaming crimson as he leaned over closer to the book. Deirdre's gasp brought the boy back to attention as he grinned, "Kay-kay." His tail flicked against the pedestal as Deirdre nearly opened the book.
Kaito jumped down with a yell before pressing against the pedestal to look up at his father. The only movement Kaito made was to latch protectively onto his twin with wide eyes. The toddler nearly pouted at the locked door part -it hadn't been locked, it just bit people!- but decided to stay quiet instead as he just nodded at his father.
A look over at his twin asked the silent question, How much trouble are we in now?

Adrian flashed a knowing grin. He ruffled their hair before running his hands along their shoulders to push them towards the door. Then he made more hand gestures. "Shoo, shoo. Up you go. It's time for breakfast and your mother will be worried if your late."
Still, even he could not resist a look back at the book before turning around, guiding the toddlers into the hallway.
Deirdre wasn't sure why they weren't being yelled at, but her father's smooth talking scared her more. She clung to Kaito as she walked, not bothering to look back at her father. Someday she'd come back down here and read that book. Someday she'd know....
