Again with the official things. Laughing it off was one thing the captain was good at, and there was nothing about a captain having to remain formal with a subordinate. Formality stuffed things up a bit, thus he shook his head.

"How about we go for a walk? Paperwork can only be so exhilarating," Zetsuya offered as another small stack was added to his own, "and it's not like I can't do some of that on my own. Maybe we'll get to hear some of those complaints, hm?" Yet another jab at his poor handwriting, yet another one was being sketched over. All the while, he sipped at the tea. Surely she'd been working most of the day with the newbies, and the least he could do was to let her off for dinner or something.

"The fifth has that Pearl Voyage place, if you'd like to go with an old man," Zetsuya joked yet again. His occasional assistance in the actual classes of the academy had allowed him to notice Rill a while back. It had been quite the honor when the girl had joined the fourth division, as she leaned towards kido rather than combat, yet leaned away from the destructive ways as e had.

Another chuckle had to escape his lips. Rill seemed to think herself the proper person to fill out the paperwork. Even when offered a break, she seemed to demand something that she work to prove herself further. A smile and a brief shake of his head, the least he could do is finish signing the small stack of perhaps thirty on his desk. They'd both worked on it, but now it was done with for the day.

"Alright, Rilla. You win this time," the captain grinned, as he grabbed the haori from the bedpost. It was still spattered about in paint, practically every color in the rainbow, and some that didn't seem to belong. The only bit he'd managed to take care of was upon the back, the blackened blossom print of the bellflower. Who needed it to be simply white? That was simply boring.

"I dunno if you remember me being here the whole time you've been, but I certainly do," the captain chuckled, as she reassured him that he wasn't old. Granted, he wasn't old like some of the other captains, but nonetheless, he was far older than Rilla. The captain already began to stroll down the staircase, to await at the base of the lieutenant.

Things were definitely odd between the lieutenant and captain. One strove to maintain formality, while the captain strove to be more friendly. It was an oddity, certainly, but he wasn't going to stress over it nonetheless. However it was, was how they were, no matter how mixed up it seemed.

"That is very true, Rilla... So very true," the captain chuckled. There wasn't much else to do with an argument like that, he propelled himself from the office towards the fifth division. A meal sounded nice.

It hadn't been the grand exit so many captains had seemed to be itching to make, however Zetsuya was pleased just to be back within the confines of his studio. Biting his lip, he debated. The office upstairs was left closed when it was just the captain within its confines, however to remain on standby meant he was needed to be readily accessible. The most odd thing of all was that he didn't go right to the canvas which was laying about, rather than that, Zetsuya leaned against one of the paint spattered windows. Surely, if one of the fourth was to go to the field, it would be Zetsuya for field medic duties.

Kurenai was more suited for that, provided he released to his bankai. Thoughts of this traveled to Rilla, and her skills in combat. She wasn't a fighter... Not quite like the captain was.

All these thoughts irritated him. Duties were never something the shinigami liked to think of, regrettably thinking of the situation seemed to be turning Zetsuya's mood ever so sour. Something he was certain no one would be able to stand, should he actually do something outside, which would again disturb the standby order. Sighing, the medical artist laid back, stairing at one of the abstract works on the ceiling.

How odd, for his office door was opening, and then an all too familiar voice piped up. It was Taiga, their current head of the kido corps. Commentary on his office was never surprising, as he had it constantly spattered in new colors, and only once every couple of weeks he'd have some of the unseated officers clean it with him. At that point, canvas would already be torn away, awaiting a fresh sheet.

"Why thank you, Captain Taiga. I had thought I would be receiving no visitors, considering the head captain's orders for standby," the blond man laughed, as he sat up. Laying on paint cans would be unpleasant to most, however the lazy artist had slept on them one too many times to be complaining about the odd impressions left beneath his uniform in his flesh. His eyes locked onto the fifth division captain. "So what brings you here, despite orders?"

"This is the worst part of the job," Zetsuya commented absently. Conversation was nice, when remaining on standby. His lieutenant was off, working on paper work, and all the while, he was stuck awaiting for deployment orders which would never come to him. He was the best medic they had here within the Seireitei, and as such, he would only enter the front lines in the most dire of situations. He was certain of that. Kurenai was giving off the feel of wishing for the painting, to dull the edge he was experiencing. Things would be dire, indeed. Regrettably, he settled back, trying to keep relaxed.

Questions about current events. It was all so uninteresting. It needed to be more vivid, and interesting. A change of pace, sure, however they were stuck on standby for the time being.
"Elimination. It's how it always works here. They shouldn't be," the medical captain commented. The very word left a foul taste in his mouth, it seemed, but it was how things were dealt with, when they were an anomaly. His emerald eyes settled on the unsatisfied form of captain Kogane. Escape would be pleasant, but on the other hand, just having the order for standby repealed would be a relaxing bit of news, where he would be able to depart from the studio, if needed. "There will be no other options, I'm certain. Do you have something to believe otherwise?"
