Orion stared intently down at the circle of lightbulbs on the machine before him. They'd light up in turn and he'd have to press a button to stop them when the lightbulb between a pair of arches was lit up. He'd tried three times already and lost each one getting only boring little stuffed snakes that he'd have to trade in if he wanted a better prize. The herald was stubborn though and wasn't ready to give up yet, he'd managed the balloon darts after a few failures and the fish a plastic ducky out of the pond game so surely this too must be winnable!

"Stop getting faster and slower" he grumbled, it was hard to know when to push then the speed of the lights making thier way around the circuit changed. Even worse when they changed direction.

Chris stood in the street watching a little boy with wings. She couldn't help but smile, he was sort of cute, talking to himself, talking to the game machine. She watched him and then watched the machine, figuring out the pattern. She didn't want to get to close, there were nasty people out there. She didn't want to be mistaken as one, so she tried to send the little boy mental signals when he should hit the button. But then again she was no telepathic lady.

Orion didn't have any ability to receive telepathic messages that he knew off but he did have peripheral vision. Perhaps it was luck or perhaps it was fate but something to his barely visible left shifted a little and the herald brought his hand down swiftly in reaction successfully capturing the light while it was between the arches.

"Uh congrats kid you can pick whatever you want from the top." A somewhat startled guy in his mid 30's gestured to the stuffed animals, nearly the same size as the toddler, that hung in a net above them.

Orion glanced upwards and stared with wide blue eyes at the treasures now available to him. " that one" He pointed after a minute, at a large tye dyed lizard thing. While he waited for the man to get his prize down Orion turned to see who or what had caused him to flinch and win.

Bastion just sort of stared on in shock, he was excited for his son yes but really a nearly 3 foot long tye- dyed chameleon! He couldn't begin to fathom why the boy had chosen that prize out of all the available and slightly less odd looking ones.

Chris still being a kid at heart did a sort of jig when the kid won. She was happy for him, and found the lizard he chose to be quite the catch, but she was a bit of an odd ball herself. She wanted to go congratulate the young boy, but the creep factor was still there. She was about to walk away, when the boy turned toward her. She smiled a little.

A non creepy older person smile.

"Good job Kid." she comment then added, "I like your wings."

The small blond grinned back at the woman's compliment " Thank you, the game is really hard." He was pretty sure he wouldn't be able to win every time without a lot more practice and he didn't want to spend all his money on the same game. At the mention of them, Orion flicked his wings a little "they're special wings," he confided.

Bastion, now holding the ungodly looking lizard plushy watched the conversation between his son and the stranger carefully. The woman certainly didn't seem threatening but then again sometimes those types didn't. Mostly the man was just amused and yet also annoyed by the fact that Orion still hadn't grown out of his willingness to talk to and befriend anyone he met. He didn't want a paranoid basketcase of a child but on the other hand at least a little self preservation from the toddler wasn't too much to ask was it?

Chris nodded at his comment about his wings being special. The only other winged child she had ever seen was Fiona, and their wings were drastically different.
"I can tell. I know a little girl with wings too, but hers are different than yours."
She saw the man watching her, so she took a step closer to him and said
"Hi, you this little fellas, ah guardian? Names, Chris."
She was going to say papa, but she knew that Cassie was not Fiona's mama, so she fixed it. The woman offered her hand to shake his.

Street fairs weren't his thing. They just... weren't. They were loud and full of kids running around without a care as their parents are dragged along for the ride. At least... that's what he felt. Kemuri was a grown adult and he was still pulled along with Lily, his guardian, for the ride. She was almost an adult herself and she still pulls herself in these situations where she acts like a child; not a care in the world.

Now here he was, standing in at the side of a street while waiting for Lily to get off a ride. He didn't want to partake in the rides. The closest thing he got to one of these parks was the abandoned one many moons ago. He really wished someone he knew was here. Guin... Shay... even Lind would be good!

Orion loved his wings and he especially enjoyed being the only one in the household with them, it didn't make him better but the toddler did feel extra special that way. Although the young herald was a bit sad they didn't help him fly or anything yet, Purple could fly but Orion had now clue how the nutbar managed that other perhaps some sort of magic. Though he was curious about the winged girl, winged people were often very neat, Orion stayed quiet and let the adults talk for a moment.

Bastion nodded and offered a relaxed smile as he extended his hand in order to shake Cris' " I"m Bastion and yes Orion is mine." Or he was the boy's depending on how you looked at at it times.

"And yourself, have you taken in a herald of your own?" Bastion still didn't know much about the beings beyond what Guinevere had told him and someday he'd like to get more information. Finding other guardians to speak with was a good start, and given the flier he'd received this seemed like the place to ask others if they were like him.

Chris smiled when her offer was accepted and nodded a little in additional greeting. Then she shook her head at the mans question,
"No, not me, but a-"
she paused a moment trying to determine the appropriate way to describe Cassie, employ didn't cut it anymore, and well friend didn't seem enough either,
"A very dear friend of mine took in a little girl a while back. Though Cassie and Fiona are like mother and daughter in a lot of ways. Fiona wondered off to return some juggling balls, and should be back soon if you would like to meet them."
She looked to Orion again and smiled at the young boy.
"Fiona is sweet, I think you'll like her."

Orion nodded and shifted from foot to foot in anticipation "What do her wings look like?" Not that he would only like her if her wings were interesting but he wanted to know regardless. Orion had met only a few others like himself and all of their wings were rather different. He knew it depending on what had been given to them in that time that they didn't remember when they were bigger.

"I don't see a problem waiting around" Bastion replied "I think Orion has won enough prizes for today as it is." Bastion only hoped that Orion wouldn't rub his new acquisitions in his sister's face then they got home.

Fiona smiled brightly and passed the balls over and said,
"I like your dress, you remind me of a blue Macaw."
This she of course meant as the best complement.

Cassie watched the two Heralds from a distance, and didn't say that it may be taken as an insult.

"My names Fiona, Fiona Blair Rain,"
she offered her hand to shake Grazie's and asked
"Whats your name?"

Grazie curtsied out of respect, smiling. That compliment actually made her feel a little better. She was not offended in the slightest -- possibly due to her "life is life" attitude. Not surprising.

"Gretchan Dinkley." she said while extending her arm. "Do call me Grazie though . . . its much better than my real name."

Her verdant eyes rolled a little to her own comment. She had always hated being called Gretchan, especially due to Sheldon's idiotic way of called her "Gretchan-chan." She shrugged it off though for her new acquaintance. She needed a new friend.

Tamuril tugged on Kain Nigels hand, pulling through the crowd and more out into the open. "Sooo, what do you want to do? Anything or shall I choose?" She asked excitedly. Kain stomach almost did a back-flip. If Tamuril were to decide what to do, then he'd end up in an awkward date or on some terrifying ride. Panicking a little he tried to listen out to the people around him. If he could get somewhere safe...maybe even away from his clingy guardian it would be okay.

With a quick stretch of his wings, he pulled forward. "I think we should.....erm" He paused hearing a familar voice. "Go-this-way" He said dragging the already annoyed Tammy towards the voice. It kinda sounded like a herald he once knew, but it had been a long time since he'd been out. Work had drained him of motivation to see the outside world. Though Bethan was playing up, and so had thrown him out for the day with her girlfriend along side.

The last time he went out to town, there was a girl and her guardian... it had to be the same girl. Kain tried to remember the name but was interrupted by a whiny voice. "Awwh, your such a spoil sport" she moaned following Kain reluctantly passing her favourite activities. The voice was now a lot closer, and there were others around it. Kain could hear the ruffle of feathers in the slight breeze. "Wow, gorgeous feathers" Tamuril breathed.

with much unfortune, no one he knew seemed to be present. With his guardian now disappearing under the heads and bodies of fair goers, he has a choice to either follow or wander off himself. He decided on the second choice and began to wander off. he had enough money to buy food and perhaps try a few attractions. He began walking about the fair with his wings folded. He was indifferent to the lights and sounds around him.

He turned his eyes to the rides. Maybe he should go on them, but he figured that it was boring alone. Aimlessly, he wandered around, trying to find either a familiar face or at least a new friend.

Chris smiled at Orion when he asked about Fionas' wings, but waited until Bastion finished talking to her. She chuckled a little and was about to say that no one could ever win enough prizes, but instead she turned to the toddler and said
"well lets see, they are a weee bit bigger than yours, and orange, with these really light brown strips. Her guardian sacrificed a motorcycle helmet with a tiger print on it so that translated to the color of her wings.

"Okay Grazie, you can call me any combiniation of my name you can come up with."
She turned to look at cassie over her shoulder and said,
"Right momma? I get called all sorts of things."
she said looking back at Grazie then she asked politely.
"So are you all dressed up because you are part of a show?"

"They sound nice," Orion was a bit awed by the description of the other herald's wings. He wondered if they were shiny like a helmet or fuzzy like a tiger. His wings were still feathers but they were thin like paper, thinner than most feathers his father said. "Can she fly?" maybe he just needed wings that were a bit bigger and then he too could travel in the air.

Hmm it seemed people really did sacrifice all manner of things Bastion mused. He couldn't imagine trying to get one of those half dead angels home on a motorcycle though, that had to have been hell.
