He knew that silence. He had gotten it several times before. It was always the silence that made a shiver travel down his spine and feel like a little kid done wrong. As much as he wanted to say something about his mission, he knew it would break orders...even if he was MIA, his former mission was strictly classified....that was about all he could remember of it.
After she touched her ears, in shock of course, he was a bit shocked to get a question of briefing. Sighing silently, the ninja whipped out that trusty communicator again and took only a minute or two to type out as much as he could tell her.
The message read: "All I know is that we are on some kind of island with a geological standard of 4 seasons. Right now it is summer. The island is mostly inhabited by fox like creatures. We are currently only about a mile away from the islands center, where there is a large house like shop known as the Lucky Noodle. This is where strange stuff happens and more foxes appear. Something about spices and noodles, I don't understand either.
Many of the inhabitants congregate outside of the shop or inside, but there are lots who roam the forest. Some things to watch out for are Elites, Some robotic like foxes called Cybetronians, and a few miscellaneous evil ones. Aside the main species, there are also an assortment of wildlife animals here.

"Island?" She said aloud and looked around, knowing it must have been one hell of a island since it just looked so big. She allowed the information to sink in as she tapped her chin in thought, but not before jumping as she was poked a little too hard with one of her claws. Allowing a scowl onto her face momentarily at how much different she was, and dropped her paw.
"That is something strange, I assume you've had various encounters with this creatures then." Great....new body and big bad threats, surely this was going to be more of a nightmare than a vacation. Glancing once more to her team mate, she looked quickly away and felt her tail sway back and forth. "Is there anything to do here? Or is this just a survival mission?"

He snapped the thing shut as soon as he knew she had read all of it, and watched as she poked herself with her claws. He momentarily looked down at his feet, still unaware he had claws. He couldn't help but take off a glove and poked one of his fingers, finding no claws at all. What the crap? First I have no tail...now I have no claws? What next? No Kidneys? he thought as he scowled lightly, putting the black glove over his paw and trying to forget about it.
Then she had asked a question even he wasn't sure of. He looked around a bit for some unknown reason that possessed him, and he shrugged. Of all the time being here, he hadn't the slightest idea as to why he was there or even what he was supposed to do...he just...did what he had to in order to survive

"I guess this really has been like a vacation to you then, huh Snake?" Scarlett slowly touched the bandaged spot on her head, feeling the tenderness of the area as well as around her jaw where she must have been punched while being dropped here. Knowing she probably looked like a mess, she ran a paw through her hair as at least through it all it still usually looked great.
"Well...not that you really see any time off as a vacation, but still. Have you tried to set up a signal or communications?" The vixen looked to the southern hills, reception wouldn't be too bad if they could somehow rig a signal to a satellite. Scarlett knew she had to try, anything to get word out that she was alright, Snake eyes too. ".....I lost Ripcord on the mission." She stated blankly, feeling that sinking feeling return in her chest. "He's classified as MIA, for now...." Yet somehow, she had that feeling otherwise.

He shrugged once more. His idea of a vacation was not being a fox on an unknown island, surrounded by other foxes. But heck..what did he know right?
He followed her gaze to the southern hills. Having tried virtually everything he possibly could in his first few months to get a signal out, he nodded and flicked open the communicator once more, typed, then showed it to her briefly.
The message said: "I've done everything from setting up a complex communication relay to burning a bunch of sicks that said 'SOS'. Nothing. I've been trying for months, and I'm not the only one. There are a few troops from space missions who can't even hail flagships with their tech....I think this place is like a Bermuda Triangle."
He scowled slightly at her mention of Ripcord. He didn't understand at all what she had seen in him, but being a quiet person, he was more than comfortable in staying out of her buisness

Turning her head back when she heard the quick tapping of his paws on the small keyboard; a frown crossed her face rather quickly. God, she hated that feeling of hopelessness more and more as the days went by. "Well fantastic....no wonder Cobra had half a mind to leave me here." She would have said both of them, but she had no clue just how he got here as he'd not relayed his mission to her.
Sighing deeply, she reached down to her hidden pocket canteen and went to take a swing only to find it was empty. "How kind..." They must have decided to dump it since she was positive it was full before, at least now she had some kind of mission to get it filled again. "Well....looks like this will be the second failure I can add to my list." Frustrated as she clutched to the canteen, Scarlett tipped her head back to try and breathe; no use at getting angry now when there was little she could do about it.

He raised an eyebrow and felt it instinctive to tilt his head in question. Before he would just stare long enough at a person until they answered a question, but being a fox now, he had picked up too many quirks and instincts for him to ignore.
He saw that she had tried to drink from her canteen, finding it empty. Almost immediately, he reached back for his, which he tucked away in his back pocket. He whipped it out and offered it to her, knowing well that it wasn't hard to find fresh water in this place. It was just more of a walk at that point

Catching his head tilt, she wasn't sure if she wanted to go into full detail...but when he'd offered her his canteen she couldn't help but smile once more and take it with a ginger motion of her paws. "Thank you..." Scarlett spoke before taking a swing, the cool water on her parched throat felt like bliss. Saving an ample amount for just in case, she held it back out for him and put her own away with her free paw.
"I was in charge of the mission, Snake. Mostly to gather information mind you....but I let him down. Not only does Joe have no clue what happened to either of us, I can't even relay what I know to them to help for the search....or recovery. That was my first failure." Her emerald eyes soon found their way off to the side as her voice became smaller. "You were the first. After we came back from our first mission and Joe lost contact, who knows how long I spent trying to pick up anything from you. I had to stop when I was reassigned...." Biting the inside of her lip she turned, fiddling with the top of the canteen on her pocket. "Everyone assumed you dead....I didn't want to believe them."

He took the canteen back after she had taken a swig, and placed it back from where it came, his ears perking when she began speaking about what he assumed was he mission. All he could do was just sit and listen attentevley, like he always did.
When she had finished her 'tirade' of sorts, he did the only thing he could do. Reach out and gently pat her shoulder with a paw. He didn't know why, but that touch he had seemed to comfort many in the past

Letting out another sigh to more so catch her breath, she was about to look back when she felt the paw pat her shoulder. It might have been something to be frowned upon by others....but Scarlett knew better; words not needed. Lifting her own paw up she held onto his for a moment while looking out ahead of her. "I'm glad they were wrong."
None the less, her canteen wasn't going to fill itself.
"Shall we get moving then...or did you have other plans...?" She wasn't sure, he had been her for so long, perhaps he had a life here that she was just interrupting?

It was like old times. Well. Old old times. Before the current leader Duke and his failure buddy Ripcord blackmailed their way onto Alpha team. Back then, he only had to worry about three other people, two of which he knew didn't need that ever comforting pat on the shoulder. But their moment was quickly brought to an end when she decided that water was important, which he wasn't about to argue.
He shook his head in reply, and motioned his head to follow as he stood up and headed through the foliage towards the closest source of fresh water, which wasn't to far. The sound of trickling water could already be picked up by his hearing, which meant it was just through the thicket

It brought a secret smile to her face once her companion had turned to see that shake of his head. As much as she always wanted the best for the fellow, the sting that he'd have a new life which she wouldn't be in weighed heavy. It was a horrible thing to think, but she was smart enough not to deny those emotions.
Following quietly as her eyes once more flitted around the foliage, she took mental notes about the things she saw till her own ears were able to pick up on the trickle of the water's current. Amazing, that they could pick up such things at all when it would take even more for her human ears to have heard. Lifting her nose some, she took note of the freshness she could smell in the air; also a fine indicator water was near. It was really quite fascinating, if she wasn't going to be stuck like this.

As he walked further, he could tell that she was trying out her new enhanced senses. Something that was always baffling the first time any human suddenly became a fox. He sighed silently to himself, an odd form of chuckling to him.
He paused in his step as his ears perked forward and to an alert stance. Soon after he waved his paw forward and started in a light jog, soon breaking through the thick bushes and into a serene clearing where water fell lightly on some rocks as it poured out from a spring only a few feet above on the cliff face. He motioned to the water, soon finding a rock he could perch on while he waited. He was always fond of perching.

Scarlett perked her own ears, looking up a moment to find it seemed to happen when she was surprised or intrigued. Making note she followed in a semi lowered jog of her own before falling into the serene little nook. "Oh wow....look at this." She breathed out, admiring the scenery as Snake navigated to the rock and perched.
Wasting no time, she slipped out of her chest plating and was left in her under suit. Boots quickly came off as she rolled up the pant legs till she could wad into the stream close to the tiny falls. It felt blissful on her paws, taking out her canteen and filling it up generously. Taking her fill she filled it once more before stowing it away back in her pocket.
Crouching down she cupped the water into her paw and rubbed her face, ridding her fur of the dirt but was careful of the bandages on her head. "Its been so long since we've had to use such natural resources..." She smiled to herself, feeling refreshed. "Goes to show how many contacts and safe houses are available to Joe."
