Oya trotted down the path to her home as she usually did. Leaves crunched under her feet loudly, but she didn't care. It was so normal she didn't notice anymore. She had lived there for ten years after all. In the late afternoon she always came this way. Her life was the same. It had been for ten years. Day after day, walking the same path to the same school. But this year things were starting to change. Someone actually chose to sit by her. Usually people just ignored her. But she was used to it. This girl was optimistic. A change. And after three years of high school, someone actually gave her a white ribbon on St. White's Day. She held the ribbon clutched in her hand. It was soft, and made of lace. She chose to wear it most of the day, just to see the reactions it would bring. And it brought some pretty funny reactions. She had taken it out of her hair absentmindedly on her way home. Something else different happened though. For the first time in ten years, there was something in the path that was larger than her foot. And she tripped.

She fell right on her face, colliding hard with the ground. Flipping over, she groaned a little. She looked down at what she had tripped over, and found a vase. It wasn't the most beautiful vase she had ever seen, but then again, she hadn't really seen many. She went over to the vase curiously, and picked it up. Amazingly, the vase had no dents or even a scratch from where she had tripped over it. It was fine, unlike her knee. She had skinned it on the stone, and it was bleeding. She sat there for a few seconds examining the vase to make sure that there was nothing on it. When she found nothing, she looked around to see if the owner might be prowling around. But there was no one. There was never anyone. She stood up and looked at her knee this time. It was still bleeding.

"I've had worse."

She mumbled to herself, tucking the vase safely into her arms. The last few yards to her house seemed to pass like seconds. But then again, they always did.

The old door creaked open as Oya pushed it. The house was darker than usual, probably because she had turned off all the lights to save electricity. She stumbled through the house trying to find the light switch, but to no avail.

"Ten years and I still can't find that stupid thing."

She had never been able to find the light switch even when she was a little girl, but usually her parents knew exactly where it was. But they weren't here now. And they would never be again. Usually it took about half an hour of searching before she actually found the switch or a flashlight. She managed to shuffle over to a table and put the vase down. With no where else to put it, she placed the ribbon inside the vase to make sure it didn't get lost.

"Now for that light."

She wandered around in search of the light, but she still could not locate it. She felt like the light was moving away from her every time that she got close to it. And it was beginning to annoy her. For a while, she kept up the search for the light, but soon, a dim glow began to appear from the vase. Out of the corner of her eye she could see it. She walked over to the vase, and it glowed even brighter then before. It looked like a very small fire was burning in the vase, but how?

She didn't even notice that the ribbon inside was gone.

A few days had passed, but it seemed as if the child would not speak. She had begun to open up to Oya. She was still a little timid. Oya kept her temper in check to make sure she didn't scare her. Vacation had just started, so Oya had time off to take care of the girl.

"Are you all right with sandwiches for lunch?"

The girl nodded frantically, content with the new kind of food. The day before she had discovered their magic. Although she hadn't had many foods, she was sure that it was the best kind of food in the world.

"Sandwiches it is then."

Oya was beginning to get worried, as she still had nothing to call this child. She turned around with a plate of sandwiches, and heard a tap on the door. She placed the sandwiches on the table. She went to the door quickly and opened it, but she saw no one there.

"Hello? Is anyone out here?"

She looked around, but still saw no one. She looked down to see an envelope. The envelope didn't have her name on it, just this: "To Ritsuki's Guardian." She walked back inside, and curious to find out if this was what she thought it was. The sandwiches were already gone when she got back.

"Ritsuki?"

The child heard her name and looked at Oya.

She knew what it meant. It meant that someone knew this child's name.
PostPosted: Sat Jan 07, 2006 2:43 pm

There was a tap on the door at exactly 1:30, just as the note had said. Oya had been sitting by the door, anxious to get her questions answered. Ritsuki had been exploring the house and getting aquainted with the many rooms. After she had finished, she joined Oya by the door.

The knock was expected, but it still caused Oya to have chills. She didn't know who these people were, how they knew about girl she had found, or even how they knew the child's name. She'd just have to trust them.

The noise seemed to echo through the house. Ritsuki was startled by the unexpected visitor -she didn't know someone was coming- and hid. Oya stood up and smiled at her before walking to the door. She kept the smile as best she could, and opened the door. The man looked just as she had thought he would. He was tall and wore a white lab coat. He seemed a little irritated.

"Hello. You don't know where you are to go yet, correct?"

He said it quickly, as if he was used to saying it to people like Oya all the time. She nodded silently. The man seemed to brighten up a little.

"Alright, then follow me, and bring Ritsuki with you."

It seemed like a long walk home. Oya had waited patiently outside for Ritsuki to return. When she saw her come out into the waiting room, a smile appeared on her face. Ritsuki smiled back happily. It had been an important day. On the way back, Ritsuki never stopped talking about what had happened. At first, Oya didn't believe everything, but as the story went on, she saw that Ritsuki was trying her hardest to remember every last detail of the day's events. Oya looked at Ritsuki and began thinking that the story wasn't as far-fetched as she had thought. It was clear Ritsuki wasn't human, so powers weren't a big jump.

Still, each time Ritsuki paused to try and remember something; she seemed to get more excited. She wasn't scared of her new abilities at all. In fact, she saw this as an adventure. An adventure that might be a little dangerous. As long as Ritsuki wasn't hurt, Oya was alright. She'd definitly have a lot more questions to ask Shy when she saw him again.

Oya had to concentrate on Christmas. It was the next day after all. Her present to Ritsuki was hiding in a closet in Oya's room. The only place that Ritsuki wouldn't look. She had set up a small tree in the living room and had had to explain Santa and the meaning of Christmas. That was fun. Ritsuki had lot of questions. Some of them Oya couldn't even answer. It was those questions that she worried most about. Ritsuki asked a lot of questions, and it was usually the important ones that Oya couldn't figure out. Sometimes she thought about a certain question Ritsuki had asked her for a few days.

Their home welcomed them with open arms. It was really cold, and the warmth of the house felt like heaven to Oya. Ritsuki hadn't seemed to mind the cold at all. She had skipped all the way home. In truth, she had actually just been to preoccupied by her story. Her memories kept her busy the entire time.

Ritsuki and Oya walked up to the house, taking their time. At least Oya was anyway. Ritsuki was skipping as she usually did, happy that the day was sunny. There weren't many flowers out since it was still winter. A few lingering petals were on the ground, but most had frozen and died. The sun made up for everything though, filling the sky with light and joy. Joy for Ritsuki at least.

Oya walked slowly and carefully, making sure not to fall on the ice that was all around. Ritsuki seemed to be able to catch herself if she fell, but that was one skill Oya didn't have, and she planned on not breaking any bones. Checking the address on the crumbled peice of paper she held in her hand, she looked back up at the house. It was the right address. Shy had said that it would be good for Ritsuki to meet other fae her own age. So there they were. Another fae child's house.

"You ready Ritsuki?"

Oya looked down at the girl that was now skipping in circles. She didn't seem to look cold at all.

"I was born ready!"

Ritsuki lifted a hand to the door. She knocked in a pattern, making sure to let everyone in the house know she was there and she wanted to meet somebody.

Evermoon
Ciro sat at the kitchen table watching his bother and sister who sat at the other end of the table, color in a coloring book.
His mother, Miria, was in the kitchen cleaning up after breakfast.
A new fea was coming... this was the first fea that Ciro had meet that was his age.

A knock on the door was heard, Toshi and Istu, both ran for the door laughing happily but was stopped by Miria.

"Why don't you go and answer the door Ciro." She said grinning at him.

Ciro slid down off the chair and walked towards the door, even though his eyes were closed he didn't run into anything.

He pulled open the door greeted the two behind it.

"Hello. I'm Ciro, why don't you come in."

agentgirl112
Oya nodded silently, walking through the door past the small fae. Ritsuki followed quickly. It wasn't that she expected the door to close on her. She was very excited to meet another fae. Hopefully, this time would be even more fun than the last. Last time ended pretty well. Ciro seemed nice, and Ritsuki thought that they would have a lot of fun that day, both inside and outside.

She wandered around the entrance. It was a nice house, but Oya's felt nicer and more familiar. She could still smell the scent of breakfast throughout the house. Someone had had a good meal that day.

"Thank you Ciro! Your house looks so cool!"

Oya wandered into the kitchen and left Ritsuki with her new friend. There were more children in there, but they weren't fae children. There was one more woman in there, also human. She was probably their mom and Ciro's caretaker. Oya smiled kindly to the children and their mother.

Evermoon
Ciro closed the door behind Ritsuki and followed them up the hall.

"Your welcome. And Thanks." He gave her a small smile in response and ducked his head.
"So... what do you want to do?" he asked her, brushing some hair away from his face.

Miria smiled at the woman and waved her in.
"Welcome, I'm Miria and this is Toshi," She said pointing to the elf child, "and this is Istu. Are you hungry? There is still some food left from breakfast if you want some."

Istu grinned at the new lady and then went back to coloring.

agentgirl112
Ritsuki pondered the thought for a moment, trying to figure out what they could play. She really didn't care what it was they played, as long as the did play. She probed deep into her mind to figure out what they should play.

"How about hide-and-seek?"

She smiled at her idea. It was a fun game to play. Oya had never managed to find her, no matter how long she looked. Oya always gave up in the end, and Ritsuki was always victorious. Ritsuki was the self-proclaimed champion of hide-and-seek. At her house anyway.

Meanwhile, in the kitchen, Oya herself thought about what to do about breakfast. She had managed to grab some toast this morning. Toast had kept her alive for a long time. It was usually her breakfast, because it was so easy to make and she didn't really have a lot of cleaning to do afterwards.

"If it doesn't trouble you, then yes, sure. Thank you."

Evermoon
Ciro tilited his head and 'watched' her through closed eyes as she thought.
Hide and seek. He grinned at her.
"Okay, you can hide first if you like to."
He turned around and sat on the couch burying his head in his arms, remembering the first time he had played this game with his siblings.
They didn't know then that he didn't need his eyes to see and it confused them how often and easy he could find them until mom had put a stop to.

Miria shook her head.
"No, no problem at all. theres some hash browns left, I'll get you some."
She pulled out a covered plate from the fridge and unwrapped it, then dished some out onto a plate and put it in the microwave.

agentgirl112

Ritsuki ran off into the next room. She had to find a hiding space fast, before Ciro finished counting. Come to think of it, she didn't even know how long he was going to count. He could count anywhere from ten to one million for all she knew. She'd have to figure out a nice place to wait for him to come. He had the home field advantage since he lived here.

She found a good hiding spot behind a nearby chair. She sat down happily. She might have to wait a while until The chair was right in the corner, so she made sure she could see him coming.

Oya sat down in a chair by the table, waiting patiently for the hash browns. The plate in the microwave was a promise of food. Any food would be alright. She hadn't eaten an actual meal in a while. She had been too busy trying to find time to play with Ritsuki and get some work done.

Evermoon
"48, 49, 50! Ready or not here I come!"
He got up and after a quick look around the room and into the kitchen told him she wasn't there. He then started to go down the hall, stopping to look in the different rooms as he went by.
"Were could she be..." he mumbled to himself when he saw a bit of pink cloth poking out from behind a chair.
Grinning he walked up and bent down.
"Got You."

The microwave beeped and Miria pulled it out of the microwave and set it on the table with a fork, she then shooed the children off into the living room.

agentgirl112
Ritsuki gasped in amazement. No one had ever found her so quickly before. It seemed like only seconds before he saw her. She looked around to make sure no one was helping him. There was no one else in the room besides them. She smiled to herself and laughed.

"You're really good at this!"

She laughed again and scratched her head, still trying to figure out how the small boy had located her so quickly. She had no clue how a young boy could find her within seconds without help.

"Was my hiding spot really that bad?"

Oya smiled again at the woman, and took the plate happily. She was really hungry, she just hadn't known it until she thought of food. The hash browns looked really good. Better than the stuff Oya made for herself.

"Thank you very much...Mrs... What's your name if I may ask?"

Evermoon
Ciro grinned and blushed a little causing his face to turn an odd white pink color.
"Thanks. Your spot was good, I wouldn't have found you so soon but a part of your ribbon was poking out and thats what I saw."

He backed up so she could get out and grinned shyly at her again.
"Come on, its your turn."

Miria sat down at the table as well and grinned in reply.
"You can call me Miria, I never was one for the Mr and Mrs stuff. Though I'm afraid I didn't catch your name either."

agentgirl112
Ritsuki nodded and stepped out of her hiding spot. It was a little cramped in there, so it was nice to walk around again. She looked down at the ribbon that she always had. It usually didn't cause any trouble, but this time, it had cost her a game. Well, it was her turn now. Nothing she could do.

"Alright! I should count to fifty, right?"

She went over to the chair she had hid behind, and put her head down to make sure she couldn't see. She covered her eyes just to make sure she didn't look around while Ciro was hiding.

"1...2...3..."

Oya picked up a fork that was close to her. It looked clean, so she would use it. She would use any utensil as long as it looked clean.

"My name's Oya. Just Oya. I don't care to much for formal names either."

Evermoon
Ciro quickly looked around for a place to hide, thinking of one he headed of to the closet that was beside the door. It was used to hang up jackets and to put shoes and boots.
He oopened the door and moved some of the shoes around and then closed the door waiting for Ritsuki to find him.

Miria nodded.
"Its nice to meet you Oya."

agentgirl112]Ritsuki waited patiently for her count to reach fifty. Each second passed, and each second she spoke, counting higher and higher. Slowly but surely, she got closer. She could no longer hear Ciro's footsteps.

"47...48...49...50!"

She pulled her head up quickly, and looked around for Ciro. Maybe she could find something showing, like he had. There was nothing around that she could see, so she went on to the next room. She didn't find anything there either. This might be harder than she thought. Oya usually was the one looking.

"Where oh where could Ciro be..."

Oya smiled and picked up some of the hash browns with the fork. She stuffed them in her mouth. Not one escaped. She ate all of them slowly. They tasted even better than they looked.
[quote="Evermoon
Ciro could hear her as she got closer to his hiding place. He shifted a little causing the coats to bump rustle together. He froze in spot and glared at the frost that he was creating being in such a small space... it was a problem he had if he was in a small area or even in a big one for to long then he started to create frost the covered everything.

Miria raised an eye brow and grinned.
"Hungry?"

agentgirl112
Ritsuki slowed down next to a closet. It seemed to get colder there. Strange that one part of the room was colder... She tip-toed slowly towards the closet, as silently as she could. She slowed down her breathing to make sure he couldn't hear her. She could hear her own heart beating as she got nearer to the door. Once she reached it, she placed her hand on the doorknob to find it was very cold. Colder than the entire room.

Oya stopped her feeding frenzy long enough to swallow. She took some deep breaths, gathering all the air she hadn't thought of getting when she was eating. It was really good. Anything was good since she hadn't eaten an actual meal in a couple days.

"You can tell?"

Evermoon
Ciro tryed to will the frost to dissapear but in didn't work... if nothing eles in made it worse.
He stilled for a minute to listen for Ritsuki, he couldn't hear her moving at all... so that ment two things.
One she was in a different part of the house or two she was being really quite for some reason.

Miria laughed and nodded.
"Just a bit, but if you would like something else then just say so and I'll be happy to get you some."

agentgirl112
Ritsuki put her hand back on the doorknob. It was still freezing cold. She turned it quickly and opened the door. She removed her hand the second the door was opened. Her hand was really cold, even though it had only been on the metal for a couple seconds. She waved it a few times to try to shake off the cold. When she looked back up, she saw that there was frost on almost everything inside the closet. The cold was coming straight at her. She pointed at Ciro happily.

"I found you!"

She laughed a little. It was funny somehow to see a boy hiding behind the clothes. He didn't look cold in there at all. He looked happy there, aside from the fact that Ritsuki had just found him.

"That's really cool!"

Oya got out of her seat after she was done with the food. She sighed a little. They were going to be late unless they left soon. Oya had a meeting with her teachers to help her decide on next year's classes. Then she was going to pass by the Project 030 building so that Ritsuki could see Zang and Ferroc.

"Sorry, but we need to leave...I have an appointment, and Ritsuki needs going to come with me. I'm sorry for leaving so suddenly, but thank you very much for the meal. We'll be sure to come by again."

Evermoon
Ciro shrugged and grinned.
"Mom says that some sort of frost might have been put into my jar. I do that alot, freeze things that is, its really useful in Summer when your ice cream is melting on you."

He pushed his way out of the closet and stood by her smiling.

"Come on, my turn."
He started to lead her towards the living room, going past the kitchen as he went.

Miria shook her head.
"Its alright, I understand. Your more then welcome to come again it seemed like they were having lots of fun today. Your welcome."
She smiled at her.

agentgirl112
Ritsuki waved to Oya happily as she passed. She saw the plate on the table and stopped. She knew there was food close by. She hadn't had that much to eat, just some toast and bacon. Not as much as she usually had. She was actually getting pretty hungry.

"Food?"
She asked while walking towards the table. She got there, and looked onto the table. The plate was empty. She looked up at Oya, trying to see if she knew where there was some food. It was close to lunch after all.

"Sorry Ritsuki, but we have to go. I'm sure Shy'll have some food for you when we get there."

Ritsuki sighed a little. It had been fun there, but she did have to go so she could see Ferroc and Xang. It'd been a while since she had. She was a little disappointed that she had to leave her new friend though. She smiled once more and turned to Ciro.

"I'll see you later then!"

Evermoon
Ciro nodded and grinned.
"I'll see you. Come back soon okay?"
He was a little sad to see her go, she was fun, and it was kinda boring here. But oh well, hopefully she'll be back soon and then they could play agian.

agentgirl112
Oya and Ritsuki both waved as they were escorted out of the house. It had been an interesting time. They would definatly come back to this house and visit. The house seemed to also see them off as they walked away. Ritsuki would have to tell Oya about her time with Ciro once they got home, but for now, they had to go. The stories could wait a while, but the people they had to see could not.

Evermoon
Ciro stood in the door frame and waved good bye.
He then went back inside and sighing, stared at the puddle of water that was slowly being made around the closet door.

The house was dark and silent. Bleak and dark. There was no movement in the darkness. No one was awake to cause any racket. For once, the house was completely lifeless. It had been like this for a few hours. The entire area was like death. Calm, dark, and empty.

The houses two occupants weren't awake. Ritsuki had had a long day. She'd spent it outside, trying to catch bugs and butterflies. They were usually to fast for her, but she did manage to catch a few, which she had set free a few hours later. They seemed a little happy to be away from the optimistic child who liked to look at nearly everything she could find.

After a few moments, the little girl who was so cheerful that morning was in the kitchen. She had been woken up by a nightmare, but didn't want to bother Oya. She went into the kitchen to locate some milk. Hopefully this time she wouldn't spill it all over the counter like last time. It had been full, so it was really heavy. That wasn't her fault.

She had to grip the carton with both hands. It was still heavy, even though half of it had fallen on the ground. That had taken a while to clean up. Ritsuki was trying to get the jug onto the counter, when an older, stronger hand grabbed the handle attached to the jug. Oya lifted the milk onto the counter easily, and smiled at the little girl.

"You should have asked me. I could have helped more."

She kept her voice down so Ritsuki knew she wasn't mad. She was tired, but not mad. Her own day had been long, but it was fine. If Ritsuki needed anything, whether or not Oya was tired, she would try and help.

"I didn't want to make you get up."

Ritsuki now had a small glass of milk, that she was sipping out of. Once it was empty, she looked up and smiled. She yawned loudly, but managed to cover her mouth.

"Anything you want to tell me?"

Ritsuki thought about it for a second. She didn't know what to say.

"No, I just woke up and was thirsty. Thanks Oya....I didn't mean to wake you up...."

"It's fine."

They smiled at each other, and Ritsuki walked slowly back to her room. She yawned once more before she closed the door to her room. Oya went back to her own room to get some sleep.

Before she laid down in the bed, she sighed loudly to herself.

"That's so like her..."

The reason Ritsuki didn't tell her guardian about the dream was because the nightmare seemed more like a memory. And it had scared her.
PostPosted: Thu Apr 06, 2006 5:54 pm

"That was interesting."

Ritsuki was back in her bed. At first, all of it seemed like a dream. The huge pink room, meeting up with the others again, that "princess" girl. The image of her brother... That proved to her that it wasn't a dream. Even if it had been all in her mind, there was no way all of it wasn't real. She'd have to ask about it later. At the moment, she had to get up. Oya didn't need to know about this just yet. She'd find out in time. With a knock, Oya's presence in the house was assured.

"Ritsuki?"

"Yeah, mom?"

"Just wondering if you were all right. You're usually outside by this time of morning."

Ritsuki had to think about it for a bit. There was a long pause. And soon, she smiled and nodded back to her guardian. Oya nodded back, and went to start making breakfast. Today seemed like a day for some hot pancakes. Ritsuki took her time getting ready.

---

Oya had to slow Ritsuki down a couple times. Even so, the pancakes were gone very fast. At the castle, she hadn't noticed that she'd been hungry. It seemed to have slipped her mind with all the thoughts of finding out where she was and if anyone she knew was there. Before Oya could ask she wanted any more, the doorbell rang. Ritsuki stopped Oya from getting it, and calmly walked to the door.

"Hello? Who's there?"

She slowly opened the door, but there was no one there. She was about to take a step, when she noticed a small package under her feet. On a small piece of paper, a single word was written: "Ritsuki." The lettering was scrawled, and looked a little rushed. The brown package was just sitting there, tied up with string. She looked around once more to see if anyone was there, but nothing was in sight other than the trees surrounding the house.

The package was placed on a nearby table, where Ritsuki quickly took off the paper. The brown paper that had once held a box was disgarded. She'd pick it up later. The box was opened even faster than the paper was torn off. Upon seeing its contents, Ritsuki's smile widened. An unexpected gift for her. Actually, two. And in her room on her bedstand, a new mirror was there. It was beautiful, though Ritsuki hadn't noticed it yet. After waking up, she'd immediatly placed it on the table without thinking. She silently thanked the person who sent the gifts, and went to the kitchen to show Oya.
