Matt finally stopped the shots and got up off Brody, backing up so his opponent could recover. He had already seemed to have done some damage to Brody, and he wasn't even done yet.

Brody gave the slightest hint of relief as Matt backed off, appreciating the slight breather. Making his way back to his feet, Brody tried to come up with some kind of comeback.

Matt wasn't a patient man, and he didn't find Brody's hesitation for assault amusing. He went at Brody and attempted to hit him with a few shots to the head, wanting to wake him up and get him into the match!

Brody took a few of Matt's shots to the head, before taking a quick step to the side and going for a strike of his own, a right hook aimed directly at Matt's head.

Matt was hit with the right hook, causing him to stumble back a step. He shook it off and looked at Brody, laughing.
"C'mon kid, is that all you got?!"

Brody only let one word slip as he stepped forward. "Nope." He made a grab for Matt's shoulder with his left hand, and tried to pull him forward into another strike with his right.

Shanahan was hit with the strike, causing him to pull away from Brody and turn away. He rubbed his jaw, letting out a loud sigh. He turned around and looked at Brody, still rubbing his jaw.
"Nice one... But let me show you how to hit some-"
Matt stomped and sent his opposite hand flying towards Brody's jaw!

Brody caught Shanahan's punch right in the jaw, and his head snapped sideways as he stumbled backwards from the force. He grabbed his jaw and assessed the damage. He had heard plenty of times the Matt was one hell of a striker, but damn.

((... I just realized I said 'stomped' instead of 'stopped' in the previous post and facepalm'd myself. ninja ))
Shanahan let a wide smirk cross his face as Brody turned from the hit, and attempted to continue the assault by grabbing Brody for a DDT!

((I actually took that at face value, considering it is a common tactic to step forward to increase the speed/power of a punch by giving it more distance. That came off a little nerdier than I would have thought....... sweatdrop ))
Brody was easily pulled down into the DDT position, but before Matt could drive his head into the canvas, Brody tried to grab him around the waist and braced his legs against the mat, trying to prevent himself from going forward.

((Well, when ya put it that way, I look good! xd ))
Matt was about to bring Brody down for the DDT!... But was stopped? Brody had managed to stop Shanahan from bringing him down, angering the God of Punks. He attempted to bring Brody down again!

((Hey. Whatever works. 3nodding ))
Brody once again was able to maneuver himself and was able to keep himself on his feet, despite Matt's increasing force. Instead of waiting for another pull forward, however, he tried to lift Matt off his feet and went to deliver a rather short flapjack. It wasn't going to do much, but damned if it wasn't the best thing his head could come up with at the moment.

Matt was utterly shocked when he was lifted no more than a foot off the ground, and brought down the for the flapjack! Sure, not much damage was done... But can you imagine the shock factor?! Brody was sure proving his worth now.

Brody probably would have made some sort of counter-attack to capitalize on his opening.....if he wouldn't had forgotten Matt would fall directly on his shoulder. He cringed a bit after Matt dropped on him, and he tried to force him off so he could get back to his feet, clearly favoring his near-crushed arm.

Shanahan rolled off of Brody and went towards the ropes, hoping to get a safe distance. The ground wasn't Matt's best friend, he couldn't do anything while he was down there!
