Impressive, Sentinel observed, watching the teen perform the move. He was merely hoping for a kick or something that would buy him enough time to knock out the assailant, but this would do for now. Looking over to the corner booth, Sentinel noticed that the target drug pusher was gone, and the back exit was swinging in the breeze. Great. Suddenly the loud report of a gun went off in the bar. Looking back in surprise, Sentinel saw that it wasn't the assailant... it was the bartender. Again, impressive. Looked like people knew how to handle themselves in this part of town. Not only that, but the girl made an amazing shot; not that Sentinel would really know, he never used guns.

Now he was unsure of what to do; the target got away and could easily be found later. But these two people in the bar... something was different about them. One managed to perform a wrestling move under pressure and the other... freaking killed the guy. He was used to seeing dead bodies, but from his work, not someone else's.

"Nice job," Sentinel commented to the both of them, unsure of what else to say.

Josh let go of the man as soon as Zii shot him and it was clear that he was dead. The only thought that could go through his head as his ears rang from the proximity of the gun to his head at the time it went off was 'Holy s**t!' He could not believe that Zii had just killed the man!

The shock was very clear on his face as he let the man's dead body drop to the floor, Josh was used to that, but he was used to the man being passed out when he fell to the floor, not having passed on.

He slowly regained his composure as the stranger walked up to him and gave him a compliment. He sighed, then looked up off the floor, ran his hands through his hair, then his usual smile returned as he looked at Sentinel.

"It was nothin', bro, he could have hurt someone, I wasn't about to let that to happen!" He said in his usual cocky tone. Josh then grimaced as he made the mistake of looking back down at the body.

User ImageZii snapped toward Sentinel, her gun still trained on him. There was nothing of the fun, flirty Zii in the red eyes glaring at Sentinel. People were dead, and she wasn't in the mood for compliments.

"Don't f***ing move," she said, her voice unshaken despite the situation. She could freak out later. "I don't know who the f*** you are or who the f*** they were, but I don't appreciate getting shot at."

"You," Zii said, addressing Josh with a fleeting glance, "get on the phone and call 911. We need ambulances and we need cops, and you better make sure they know we aren't f***ing around. Bad neighborhood or not, we still pay for their f***ing paychecks."

"And you," Zii said, talking to Sentinel again, "you're one of those freaks who think they can play hero, huh? Well, you can be a hero now by helping me check to see who's hurt and who's dead. You know I'm a good shot and you know I won't hesitate to kill a man if you try anything stupid."

Sentinel was about to talk to the young man again when suddenly another gun was trained on him. He should probably get used to that now. Too bad she was aiming at his head. Any other part of his body and he might have risked disarming her, but now that wasn't an option. He kept his hands low; in Krav Maga, he was taught that the worse thing to do was put your hands up.

"Look," Sentinel started, staring the young woman straight in the eye, "I appreciate the help, and I'll be sure to return the favor soon. But right now, I really need to get out of here. The last thing I need is to be questioned by the police. You and the kid can take the credit for the take down if you want." He nodded in the blond guy's direction.

User Image"Yeah?" Zii said, not lowering her gun. "Well, the last thing these people needed was to get shot at, but we don't always get what we want, do we?"

Zii let out a breath, her adrenaline levels beginning to lower.

"I don't give a s**t about who gets 'credit'," she said. "And I don't give a s**t about where you need to be. You have a good thirty minutes before the cops get here. That's enough time to help these people here. If you're any kind of hero, you'll stay and help me. And if you're not, I'll let the cops know which direction you were headed in."

Josh simply let out an "Uh..." After being ordered, he needed a second to process what had just gone on. Of course, he wasn't about to argue with the chick with the gun! Especially after she had just dropped a guy that was that close to his face.

After a second he scrambled into his pockets and pulled out his cell phone. He gave it a quick flip and looked up, considering making a joke at this moment, asking the number for 911, but figured this was too serious of a situation, the bartender had snapped, he had no idea how close she was to firing off another shot.

Quickly, he punched in the number and started talking with the oddly calm lady who answered the phone. "Look, something just happened, three guys with guns just broke in here, we've got them...subdued, but they fired off a few rounds. We need cops and ambulances as soon as possible!" He then paused as the lady talked, quite slowly for someone in her line of work.

"...The address? Right its..." He looked around for a second, then found it and repeated it to the lady. Her response did not seem to show that she believed this as urgent as Zii did...There was a long pause on the other end of the line...

Sentinel considered Zii's threat. Seemed fair. He wasn't trying to make enemies, even though that's all that happened to him nowadays. People were moaning all around the bar from missed spread-shots and ricochets. He wanted... needed to help them, but the chance of being spotted and arrested... Who cares? Let them arrest the vigilante. Was he going to be the guy that stuck around and actually helped out people, or the guy that wussed out because of the chance of cops showing up?

Slowly reaching behind his back, he picked off the small first aid kit that was attached to his belt and held it up. "Either of you trained in first aid?" the blue-clad man asked. Sentinel of course was, but wanted to have an assistant to help with the injuries.

User ImageSeeing that Sentinel was going to help, Zii finally lowered her gun. She didn't have anywhere to keep it on her person, being as scantily-clad as she was, so she was forced to place it back on the shelf beneath the bar before walking toward where Sentinel was.

"I know some basics," she said, "but not enough to treat a bullet wound. At the very least we can keep everyone going until the paramedics get here."

Zii pushed the thought that she had just killed a man out of her head. She had shot to wound before, but never to kill. Right now, she needed to keep moving. Freak out later, Zii. People need you right now.

Gesturing for her to follow, Sentinel walked and crouched down to the bar patron with the worst injury; a half-shot to the stomach. The rest of the pellets had luckily embedded themselves into the bar, but the man's side was pretty mangled up. Unzipping the kit, Sentinel set it down beside the man and started to work. He took out cotton balls, rubbing alcohol, gauze, and medical tape. Dipping one of the cotton balls in the alcohol, Sentinel dabbed at the man's wounds, causing him to scream in bitter pain. Grunting, Sentinel finished cleaning the wound and looked to Zii. "Can you hand me the gauze?" he asked in the most pleasant voice he could, despite the fact that he had to growl from the back of his throat in order to talk.

User ImageZii obeyed, handing Sentinel the gauze he had asked for. It was weird the things your mind focused on when trying to avert a meltdown, and Zii was now taking in Sentinel's costume. Why blue? She figured he was going for a "night avenger" sort of thing, so why not black? And the voice...

"You know, I wouldn't be able to pick your voice out from a lineup," Zii said as she watched Sentinel's hands work. "You could talk normally."

Josh closed his phone with a sigh, "Ok, they're on their way, the police and ambulances should be here soon..." He said, "No idea how soon, though." He added in a whisper.

He then walked over to the other two, "Anything I can do to help?" He asked, "I don't about gun shot wounds, but I have been trained to deal with cuts, bruises, and broken bones, if any of that applies here."

Josh had clearly never been in a situation like this before, and he was very nervous about how he could deal with it, he wanted to help, but more than that, he didn't want to be in the way.

"Thanks," Sentinel muttered in his normal tone, for the gauze and the permission to speak without giving himself strep throat. "I guess I was going for the whole 'Batman' thing," Sentinel laughed to himself as he unrolled a large amount of gauze and cut it with scissors. Wrapping it into a large pad, he pressed it against the man's wound. "Can you keep pressure on that while I get the tape?" he asked, looking back at her.

Seeing that Josh wanted to help, he pushed him the first aid kit across the floor. "See the bottle marked 'morphine?' Take out the syringe and... well, you've seen the medical shows. Then I need you to insert it into the man's forearm. He's going to need it."

User ImageZii placed her hands over the wound and pushed lightly, keeping pressure on while Sentinel reached for the tape.

"That why you don't carry a gun?" she asked. "You're not a super, as far as I can tell. What, civilian life was too boring for ya?"

Zii was obviously trying to make conversation to keep herself together. This...was a lot of emotional trauma to happen all in one day. When it started she thought the worst of it was running out of cigarettes. Oh how wrong she was!

As Sentinel cut out the strips of the white tape, he muttered, "I was tired of everyone pissing around and pretending like problems didn't exist. Politicians and church groups try to use their promises and words of change to get people to turn from their bad habits. But you know what? Words aren't enough sometimes. Action is the best way to battle action." This was actually the first time he was telling someone why he did what he did. And... it was like a weight was lifted off of his shoulders. His mind was filled with so many complexes that it was nice to let it all out once in awhile. He pressed the tape to the gauze and linked it to the man's skin, despite it being moist from sweat. "You're gonna be alright man, just hang in there," Sentinel said, patting the guy on the shoulder. He did all he could for the man now. Another man was bleeding from the side of his neck; a pellet had caught one of his veins.

User ImageWhen Sentinel explained why he did what he did, Zii immediately thought back to the conversation with Janice and the massacre at the docks. She had no way of knowing that Sentinel was responsible for that--and, naturally, she didn't even suspect that he had been--but someone had been, and it was probably someone like Sentinel who had thought the War on Drugs could be won with blood.

"Who are you to think you can save people from themselves?" Zii asked with a little bit of edge to her voice. "Who are you to decide who's a 'bad guy' and who isn't? Life isn't a Batman cartoon."
