Unable to really chuckle without giving away the conversation, he shot them both a wry look instead and rolled his eyes, accompanying the gesture with a languid stretch to hide the signal that he wasn't actually paying as close attention as he could be.
Don't know. I meet them sometimes over chores. Many are too busy to talk. Some are friendlier. He shrugged faintly. Other than a few figures directly involved in the training, he didn't -directly- meet many of them, even though he had a long standing hobby of trying to be able to match dragon and rider on sight.

Gabriel was all but ignoring the lesson by now, too focused on the note at hand and trying to appear as if she were paying attention without actually doing so. I haven't met too many riders myself, but it's always fun to talk with them when I do. I can't wait until we all have our own dragons! <3 Although I'm warning you boys right now that mine will be far superior to yours. ;P Hey, whatever dragon Impressed to her would have to have quite the personality to keep up with her energy. That or be more passive and laid back to act as a counter-balance. Either way though, the two of them would work hard to rise up in the ranks for certain. She had no doubt.

Farellen couldn't supress the laugh that escaped him, resulting in heads turned towards him. Somehow he managed to keep a straight face when the tutor turned, and maintained an visage of interest and innocence, his arms folded over the note to hide it and he smiled ever so slightly as if he was learning something interesting. When people had decided to get learning again he scribbled onto the note.
Phew that was close, you're a cocky one Gabriel, you wont be saying that when my dragon catches yours in flight!

Salin had his own distinctly hard time fighting to get his expression back to neutral, and he hid his snort of amusement and grin behind his hair again, trying to plaster an innocent look on his face as the tutor scanned the room, glaring vaguely at Salin, but it was, at least at the moment, hard to accuse him of doing more than having a snort at something about the lecture.
It's going to be an interesting hatching, isn't it?

It was a tense moment when Farellen let out a laugh at the note, and Gabriel had to to her best to feign ignorance and curiosity like the rest of the class. It didn't at all help that Salin snorted just a short while later. Guys~ You're going to blow our cover! she thought to herself in slight dismay as she waited for the note to be passed back. It was an absolute miracle that they hadn't been caught yet. Once the note was back in her possession, she had to bite the inside of her cheek to keep from smirking at Farellen's reply. You're making two assumptions there: One, that our dragons will be opposite genders, and Two, that yours will actually be able to catch mine. ;D Bring it on! In response to Salin's portion of the note she wrote, Hatching is always an exciting thing, even without Impressing. =) I'm looking forward to it!

Farellen grinned, and looked right at Gabriel only glancing away to scribble down on the note.
Why my dear Gabriel, you're going to have a brilliant green, to rival a Queen, i will have a handsome Blue, faster than lightning, and Salin will have the best Brown on Pern!
he wrote. His thinking was that greens rose more often than Golds, still grinning, before passing the note over to Salin he added something extra.
Of course Hatchings are wonderful, and the next is SURE to be our time.

If you're right on both of your predictions, I'll do everything in my power to make sure your amazing ability to see through time is recorded in the Harper tales
Salin was still fighting a smile, though he'd forced it back down to an stubborn twitch at the corner of his mouth.
He thought, (and took a couple real notes to refresh his own memory for later) and then added.
But if she gets a gold or crimson neither of us will let you live it down, you know.

It was oh so hard not to laugh at the contents of the note. From Farellen's grin it was not hard at all for her to guess where his mind was at in his predictions. That boy just never gave up, did he. Gabriel jot down a few quite notes on the lesson to lessen any suspicion before returning to their conversation. Obviously I'd be fine with any color of dragon, but I'm with Salin on this one. If I end up Impressing anything other than a green you'll never hear the end of it. Especially if we both got like blues or something. She would probably laugh her head off at that. If they got same-gendered dragons then his plans for a "flight" would never come to fruition. He'd have to come up with more creative ways to catch her than in a simple mating flight. So, Salin, are you gunna make any bets on what we all end up with in the future? Just for kicks. We could always toss in a mark or two to make things interesting~.

Farellen smirked and also wrote down a few notes, though he wasn't really paying too much attention since he practically knew all this, mostly this lesson was for the Non Weyrbred, though there were a few things that even he didnt know going on in this class.
as would i Gabriel my dear, but be assured, whichever Dragon you Impress will surely be caught by mine!
he wrote, not even considering that she might Impress anything other than female, sure His would catch hers in flight regardless of his Dragons colour, *on the other hand, it would be just as sweet should Salin Impress green*
Dont think i've forgotten you Salin, especially if YOU Impress green. Oh yes, bets, ok, i bet Salin will get Brown, you will get Green and i will get ...... Blue
he wrote with a silent snigger.

Me? On a green? She'd be the most un-catchable green on Pern. Salin responded, stifling another snort, though he did smile again, hiding it behind resting his chin on his hand as he wrote.
I predict a black or a crimson for Gabriel, for her certainty. You... Farell... are difficult. Silver or Blue. I don't think brown or Bronze.
I refuse to predict my own. Except that I'm sure it won't be a bronze. I'd impress a gold before a bronze.
The last he included with another flash of a smile, since it was completely impossible.

Oh Shards. Gabriel had made a quiet snort at reading Salin's remark and had drawn a few curious eyes from their classmates. She played it cool however and waited until everyone was sufficiently distracted again before replying. Ladies and gentlemen, we have our first male goldrider!!! Haha, then I could be the first female bronzerider and people's minds can be warped by the sheer impossibility of it. XD Meanwhile, Farellen will get a white, black, or silver and never get to rise for a mating flight. ;P
All joking aside though, I don't see why you couldn't get a bronze. Hm... I vote a blue or green for Farellen, a brown or bronze for Sain, and I can't decide for me. A crimson would be pretty kick-a**, but again I'm happy with basically anything.

Farellen burst out into an extremely loud laugh "hahaha Salin ....Ride.... Gold" he said between laughs and gasps, tears streaming down his face as he read it. The tutor glared and ordered Farellen up to the front of the class, snatching the note out of Farellens hand he read it, then glared again at Salin and Gabriel. He forced Farellen to read the note out to the class, causing him to burst out into laughter again, recieveing several giggles from alot of the class at the 'First Male Goldrider' comment. Farellen seemed to have no shame and refused to even blush as the tutor held them back after class to decide the punishment.

Salin was enormously grateful that his skin tone did much to conceal the outrageous flush of embarrassment that heated his face as Farellen read the note out to the laughing class.
The punishment was actually even more ironic, showing that maybe the teacher, though damned dull, did have -some- sense of humor.
Cleaning the Runnerbeast stables.

Gabriel's face was rather flushed as Farellen was forced up to the front of the class to read the note aloud. She wasn't embarrassed by the contents of their discussion so much as having simply been caught. Shards, we were doing so well, too. Farellen, you deadglow, did you have to start laughing like that? The three of them would be punished for sure.
And so they were. The young teen couldn't hold back the moan after class when she found out what they were to be doing. Lovely. Only the most abominable chore in all of the Weyr... Well, at least they had had a few good laughs during the class. Despite the punishment, she didn't regret having started the note.
