Leyla smiled. Yes, she knew she was pretty. "Thank you," she said. Then she spotted Eve, and reached for her friend. "Eve!" she said, with a smile. Her expression spoke volumes, and the tone spoke more. She had missed her friend. "How are you? I can crawl now!" she added, slightly smug.
"Well, open your presents," Howl said, recovering and pulling away from the teenager with a smile. "I think you'll like them."

"You look lovely, Leyla. I hope you and your father had been well," Eve hugged the infant, having missed talking to her. "I'm all right though my grandpa Louie brought me to the party. Cool, you're on your way to learning how to walk."
Eve turned her attention to Jaella, still hoping the birthday girl liked the picture.
"By the way, would you and your father be willing to pose for a sketch sometime," Eve asked Leyla softly.

tish hadn't heard Darcy at first, so busy had she been struggling with Axel and the packages, but when she finally noticed she nodded, despite Axel's defiant protests of "Don't give me to her! Don't! Don't!"
Luvvie stopped chasing the fireflies after a one of them landed on her nose and - blew a raspberry at her?!? What? Instead, she trotted over to one of the other partygoers - a llittle girl with a . . . .skull mask? Paint? something - on her face, and fopped down next to her, ruffling her wings as she smiled. "Hullo there!"
Miri smiled shyly at Jaella, dropping the present she'd made for her on her lap before vanishing into the crowd, intent on hiding under one of the tables and watching the festivities from there. Finding a good spot, she sat down and made she she wsa out of sight, before she started to sing softly to herself.
"Happy birthday to Jaella, happy birthday to Jaella. happy happy birthday...." The creepy tones resounded through the party, causing Tish to nearly drop her packages.
"Not again. . ."

"Thank you," Leyla said with a smile. "You look very pretty too," she added with a nod, remembering her manners. She wrapped her tiny arms around Eve and returned the hug as well as she could. "I'm going to walk soon so we can play," she boasted. "When I learn to walk, we'll play more, right?" Her ears twitched as she heard Miriam's singing. Her her hands went over her ears, only for the infant to realize she could still hear it. Her expression crumpled, no longer one of a cheerful baby. She hid her face with use of Eve's shoulder, and started to cry. Softly, the cries of a frightened child.
Howl too, had abandoned what he had been doing to clamp hands over his ears. "What is that?" he demanded. "It's scaring Leyla." Not to mention himself, but the great wizard was not going to admit that--whatever that sound was--was frightening. It was even more upsetting that the sound had made his sister cry; he'd never seen her do so before.
Zee was quite the opposite of his two children. He didn't seem bothered in the slightest. "It'll stop soon," he assured Howl with his signature smile.

Eve nodded, "I have a new doll house that grandma Anya got me. We can play even if you can't walk."
The girl looked surprised when she heard the music, but looked in the direction of her grandfather. It was odd sounding, but wasn't scary to the patched together todler. She rubbed her friend's back to comfort while she watched Louie to the source of the singing.
The old vampire was nearly entranced by the mere beauty of the voice. He glanced over to his granddaughter and noticed others weren't enjoying the singing as he was.
He walked over to a little girl with a plague doctor mask on, "Are you the owner of that lovely voice?"

Jaella smiled, hugging Eve even if she'd just met the child. "Thank you!" she said, her tone bright and cheerful. She looked up at Howl from her position on the floor, nodding quickly. "Kays!" she chirped, opening the picture first.
"Oh, wowies! This is really, really good!" the purple-haired teen chirped, looking at it. "Thank yous!" She was about to open the others when Miri dropped another in her lap. "Tha-" she started, but the girl had already darted off. "It's Miriam's pretty singing." she offered as an answer, not seeming to see anything scary about it. "I'll be right back. Canti, you stay here and play nice, okay?" The birthday girl stood up, gently setting Cantarella down before heading off to find Miri.
Cantarella looked at the other people around her, blankly looking at the guests through narrowed eyes. Play nice? As if! She wasn't going to play at all with a bunch of strangers! She scooted away from them, eying them warily.
Darcy smiled at Axel as she took him from Tish. "So, we meet again, little one." she purred, amused at his behavior. "So, how have you been holding up? Any heartfelt experiences?" Oh, so now she was cracking jokes, was she?
Aaron smiled, offering a casual wave to Luvenia. "Hot dog?" he asked, offering her one of the semi-burnt hot dogs. So far, that was the closest to normal he'd been able to get?

Axel scowled at Darcy for the joke, but said nothing - he bit her hand instead.
Miriam peeked up at the vampire that was staring at her, her eyes wide with shock. "Y-you think my singing's p'etty?" She asked. No-one had ever said her singing was pretty before! She just couldn't believe it - everyone ran away when she sang, but this person LIKED her voice!
Luvvie nodded, grabbing for a hot dog with eager hands, and then paused. "Mr. Aaron, do you have marshmallows?" she asked.d "They're yummy on hot dogs~!"

Eve smiled as it seemed like Jaella liked her picture, but she turned slightly when she heard the singing.
One glance spotted the blonde of Louie' hair and she chuckled, knowing Louie would be a fan of any creepy singing. It was just one of the many things that made him strange even among the rest of her family.
Louie nodded, "It is quite lovely to me. Please forgive me for not introducing myself. I am Louie Ravena." He usually went by Drake for strangers, but couldn't bear to give a false alias to the little girl.
