Jianyu was more than a little humiliated. If there was anything he did not like about himself, it was the wretched fear and anxiety that seemed to creep into his veins each time he was left to wander in the dark. During many of his training sessions at night Jianyu had had to stay in the same spot and not move; something that had made him a laughingstock among his companions. But he could not seem to shake the feelings that rattled his nerves.

Reaching up, Jianyu took Huang's hand, his own shaking slightly as he stood, his face red.

"I do not like the dark." he mumbled, his voice barely audible. "And I - "

Just the word "ghost" from Huang had Jianyu jumping slightly, his eyes flashing back and forth nervously. He stepped closer to Huang, gripping the younger man's hand tightly and pressed himself close, trying to make himself seem smaller, less of a target for whatever was out there.

"Don't say that." he grumbled, his nose touching the side of Huang's face. "I do not...I do not like ghosts. Now lead the way and get me the hell out of here."

Huang had to hide a small chuckle, his master was not himself but he could understand the fear of something. Hadn't Huang just gotten over his fear of his friends past? albeit it was replaced with losing someone close to him but that was against the point.

"Dark can be very calming," Huang tried to distract his master with more positive thoughts, "I like night time the best, besides being hunted by nobles. I almost never get time to enjoy the solitude that dark can give." Huang pulled Jianyu up, straining to hear the small words he was mumbling.

He watched as his master eyes widened at the name of ghost and smirked in the dark, poor Jianyu, Huang wanted to make the fear go away but couldn't really do anything. He didn't have fear of the paranormal for in fact Ghost we're common. Otherwise there wouldn't be dead soul conduits.

Jianyu was so close to Huang that the heat of his body was over heating Huang's. Every time Huang moved a inch away, Jianyu followed with, even though the other man was a bit bigger than him.

"I say you worry too much over Ghost Jianyu." Huang begin to walk through the woods, trying to find any sort of trail or ground flattened by their or others footsteps, his eyes were drawn to a ethereal light a bit in the path, "Do you see a small glow that way Jianyu?" Huang tried to wave his hand and forgot that Jianyu's was still there, which had Huang pulling Jianyu forward instead.

"The dark is not calming." Jianyu grumbled as he started walking, sticking absurdly close to Huang. His hand was still clenched around the younger boy's fingers, and he was not about to let go anytime soon. It was one of those moments where Jianyu had dropped his pride, his fear and anxiety overtaking his desire to be strong and confident. Besides, it was not as if he were with the overly swaggering members of his battalion who would more than likely mock him if they saw how he was acting. He was with Huang-Fu; an important person very close to Jianyu's heart and who he knew would not regard him any less for how he was behaving.

"Ghosts are not exactly something not to worry about." he said, tripping over a small root in the ground as Huang abruptly pulled him forward. He bumped into the younger boy. "And what - "

The light was just ahead; a small, dim glow. Of what exactly that glow was, Jianyu did not know, but he did not wish to find out. Stumbling sideways, he let go of Huang's hand and staggered away from the direction of the light, crouching down near the base of a nearby tree.

"What the hell is that?" Jianyu gasped, trying to keep his breathing under control.

Huang cocked his head at Jianyu. He couldn't understand how is master, who he thought was one of the greatest fighters and in the midst of a great war, hide at the sight of a mysterious glow. Though he didn't judge his master, he thought it was odd regardless and thus banked away his questions, trying to return his master from his current state.

"I think...Maybe it is a firefly?" Huang tried to be positive again but the light was a bright green color and seemed to be floating towards them. If it was anybody else, they would've reacted much different than Huang did now.

"Hmm it seems to be moving towards us?" Huang went over to Jianyu and tugged at him, "I think if were lucky it could be a forest sprite or something to guide us out." Huang tried to comfort his friend, tugging on his hand. He didn't want Jianyu to be scared.

Jianyu stubbornly resisted any and all attempts at Huang pulling him back on his feet. He had had quite enough of the woods and going towards the eerie, ethereal light was not high on his list of things that he was inclined to do at the moment. So instead, when Huang tugged at his hand, Jianyu yanked hard, pulling the younger man down to sit in front of him. He wrapped his arms around Huang's waist, hugging him tightly from behind. This was mainly an attempt to keep Huang from walking away and trying to lead him towards the glow (whatever it was) but also because Jianyu felt strangely comforted by Huang's presence.

"Forest sprites are not quite what one wants to run into." Jianyu muttered, leaning back against the tree. "I say we just stay right here for now. There is no way in hell I am walking towards that...that thing."

Jianyu knew that he was being uncharacteristically stubborn, not to mention probably as stupid as a certain someone, but he did not want to go towards that glow. No, it was best to just stay here and wait it out until morning, hidden in the roots of the trees and the thick branches and high shrubs. He closed his eyes briefly, his head resting against the tree trunk.

"Forgive me." he murmured softly. "I am...I am..."

He couldn't even say "frightened." To say it aloud would sound weak and feminine, and that was the last thing Jianyu wanted. So he settled for letting his words trail away.

Huang sighed as Jianyu wouldn't budge and stared at him blankly, the man was being as stubborn as....well maybe as stubborn as Huang was himself about getting Jianyu up! He made a little squeak as he was yet again pulled down into Jianyu's arms, which now rested on his waist keeping him a clenching grip.

For the lack of courage in Jianyu right now, His death grip from fear was pretty strong and sturdy and bound to help the guy relax a little. It was odd but he didn't find it odd, only a bit confusing, he couldn't tell whether to take advantage of being in Jianyu's arms or to be comforting to his friend. He tried to shift around and patted his friends leg, ending up with the thought of comfort before self.

"I thought they would be safe?"
Huang joked, he was naive of ghost and sprites and everything of the supernatural at all, he didn't really believe in them in the first place, "Well...then i guess we should try to make ourselves comfortable..." Huang stared at the glowing light as it hovered in its spot, farther back now.

"No worries Jianyu..."
Haung patted his friend again and shifted around to get comfy. He closed his eye's in rest but kept his ears tune for anything out of the ordinary.

"I always worry." Jianyu murmured, his eyes still closed. He let the sound of Huang's voice lull him into relaxation, and he felt the younger boy squirming around. Shifting his own position, Jianyu moved to lay on his side, pulling Huang up against his chest, one arm throw over his waist.

"Stop moving so much." he mumbled, then yawned. His head hurt from the anxiety pounding in his veins, but the feel of Huang close to him was somehow soothing, and Jianyu was oddly comfortable. He did not like being out here one bit, especially not in such a state as he was, but having his friend with him made it bearable, rather than completely horrible.

Though he still was on edge. Jianyu let out a quiet, frustrated sigh, trying to wipe away his fears.

"Don't...go anywhere..." he mumbled just before sleep finally overtook him and he was soon in a deep and dreamless slumber.

Huang cracked his eye at his friend, buried beneath the roots of the tree in the middle of the night wasn't what he expected of their venture and he was sure that his mother was pulling out her hair. Not in worry for Huang but more of why the hell he wasn't home when she had missions for him to do.

"I am not moving-" Huang squirmed as he was pulled closer. He brushed his hand over Jianyu's hair out of his face before letting his eye's droop as well, remaining quiet at Jianyu's words.

But the light was egging on the brink of Huang's mind. He wasn't curious by nature but cautious and the light was a unfamiliar thing in a very unfamiliar situation being lost in the woods, and on the chance it was in fact a enemy, Huang didn't want to see his friend bear the burden of a conflict when he was already deep asleep.

He felt guilty but squirmed his way out of Jianyu's relaxed hold, checking to make sure he was still asleep as well as staring at Jianyu, his heart thumped as he bent over, his lips hovering over the others before pulling back and got up. His body turned and he started following the eerie green glow, just what was it that drew his attention to it? Like a moth to the flame, Haung thought to himself. He kept to the shadows as the light came closer in his view, as if under enchantment, Huang disappeared into the sea of tree's.

Jianyu felt it when Huang left. He was suddenly cold, his body temperature settling cooler, and there was no longer the comforting weight and familiar scent of Huang's figure next to his. Slowly, still groggy, Jianyu blinked awake. The space in front of him was empty, the grass flattened from where Huang-Fu had lain, but there was no younger boy beside him.

"Huang?" Jianyu called hoarsely, his voice still rusty from sleep. He could not have been out for more than a few moments, since the grass was still warm, but the young man was no where in sight. "Huang-Fu!"

There was still no answer. A feeling of panic began to rise in Jianyu's throat and he staggered to his feet, his head whipping from left to right, his eyes searching frantically in the near-darkness. "Huang-Fu, show yourself!"

Silence. Jianyu's gaze turned quietly towards the eerie light a few yards away.

He could not have...but...he had promised...hadn't he?

"Huang...you idiot." Jianyu whispered softly, his heart pounding violently in his chest. Swallowing hard, his fingers gripping the bow, Jianyu pushed aside the brush and stepped towards the light.

Huang had been following this damn light for hours on end now. What turned into his simple curiosity and hypnotic fascination with the glowing light now was a problematic and daunting situation. If Huang though him and Jianyu had been lost before it was nothing like now, the woods seemed bigger the canopy from the top taller and out of his reach.

Not a sound could be heard but his quiet brunch of twigs and leaves and his short pants of breath. Lord he was getting tired and all he wanted to do was curl back up with Jianyu.

"Should've never left him..." Huang thought his of Jianyu and how he slept peacefully, probably even now his master was in a deep sleep. Huang though of his friend would be in a better place than now and sighed. Had he promised his friend and not left his side, then he wouldn't be in this horrible trickster's mess.

"Jianyu..." Huang let out a sad cry, maybe he his friend would help him but he sorely doubted it. Figures that Jianyu would be right about not wanting to meet a forest sprite, What do i do? Huang head fuzzed out before he blacked out, falling to the ground with a thud as he fainted.

"That idiot." Jianyu swore angrily as he stalked through the forest shoving ferns and shrubs aside roughly. The light was all around him now, but it felt too close, almost suffocatingly close, and Jianyu's chest felt tight. He had been walking around for what seemed like hours, and he still could not find Huang-Fu. Moreover, he felt like he was going in circles and nowhere fast. Reaching up, he swiped a hand through his hair. It stuck to his face in stringy clumps, and sweat slid down his neck, pooling in his collarbone.

Stepping around a thick oak tree, Jianyu's foot hit something solid and he stumbled abruptly. Glancing around his heart leapt in his chest when he saw the familiar head of dark hair.

"Huang-Fu!"

Dropping to his knees, Jianyu's hand found the base of Huang's neck. He could feel the soft thumping of his pulse beneath his skin, and relief coursed through him. His fingers flitted over the younger boy's face, smoothing back his hair.

"Huang?" Jianyu said softly. "Huang, wake up."

Huang woke with a start, his hand instantly had his claws extending and pointed at Jianyu's throat. Such was the way of being constantly trained as a Assassin. However this was his friend on the other side of his blades and Huang instantly felt ashamed.

"Jianyu..." Huang brought his hand down and bowed his head, regret, guilt and shame laid like a heavy rock on his neck, "I am sorry, I left you and then i got lost and even now, i have pointed my weapon at you." Huang head hung even lower as he sat up, His friend was generally worried and scared in the forest and Huang had disappointed him.

As he was about to apologize even more, but stopped to watched the green light he had been fascinated floated towards them, forming into a body. Huang couldn't make out the shape for male or female. The longer he stared at it though, the more the light seemed to split into more bodies until Haung and Jianyu we're surrounded by two opposing sides of the lights, which now we're fully formed transparent bodies.

"Jianyu...." Huang got up and pulled the other man up with him, transfixed on the situation they we're in. He looked to one side of what he considered a army and noticed a insignia for the Nobles. Turning his back to that group, He glanced over his shoulder to see the other opposing group of the ghost bore the symbol of emperor, Legions.

They we're caught in between a past battle, Huang thought and tried to remain cool even though his heart was racing. Could this beings pose dangerous to them? Apparently so as a arrow whizzed by them, Huang could feel enough of the wind that was generated by the arrow to know real from fake, and he was sure Jianyu would too.

Staring at the two enemies, Huang noticed that even ghost remained corporeal to what he assumed their bodies looked like when they we're dead. Limbs missing, blood dripping. Huang was wary, he would not let these illusions take over.

"Jianyu..."
Huang elbowed his friend, "We should move to the Legions, we will probably find some form of relief from them."

A wave of relief that Huang was not dead washed over Jianyu as the younger man opened his eyes. However, it was short lived as he jolted awake too abruptly, and within seconds the sharp, pointed steel tip of one of Huang-Fu's metal claws was pointed directly at the front of Jianyu's neck. Jianyu's gaze held Huang's as his eyes narrowed, the beginnings of anger stirring in his stomach. He did not break their connection until Huang, realizing his mistake, hastily withdrew his arm.

"While caution is good, stupidity is not." Jianyu said icily as he leaned back away from Huang, one hand reaching up to touch the tiny nick at his throat. "The next time you decide to wander off by yourself in the middle of the night, do not point your weapon at the man who is trying to care for you."

However, Jianyu's anger was as short-lived as his relief earlier when he belatedly realized that the eerily glowing light around them was dissipating, twisting to form etheral, misty-like shapes. He let out a sharp squawk of terror and pressed himself behind Huang-Fu, his arms slipping around the younger man's waist as he tugged him close. Jianyu felt humiliated, but he disliked mystical things more than anything else, and this was simply one of those times where he did not care much for his pride.

"You deal with them." Jianyu mumbled, his face pressed into the back of Huang's neck. "I refuse to."

Huang bowed his head in shame yet again. He would never live down the fact that he had pointed his weapon at Jianyu or the fact that he had left him. It was possible that Huang had already earned a strike from his friend and was ashamed to have already disappointed the other man.

Huang was again going to apologize before streaming headline back into their situation when Jianyu freaked out, which had Huang focusing again on their ghostly battle they we're involved in, and the fact that regardless of Huang's actions earlier, Jianyu still was clinging to him. It was odd to see the dead Lunarians and grotesque to see their dead bodies. Even though Huang had no fear of ghost, he was still affected by the disgustingness of the battle to come.

"What do you mean deal with them?" Huang snorted, obviously Huang and Jianyu had been led here by the light to experience or see this battle, or even lay witness to something bigger. Whatever it is, Huang had no idea the minds of spirits and didn't want to begin to. So instead he crept along out of the enemies line of vision to the side where legion flag rose high, dragging Jianyu along. Just as he was sure that they we're safe, a high shrill that sent shivers down his spine sounded in the air and the battle started. The dead met each other in a large clash of weapons and fighting.

"It has begun..."
Huang stood up now and parried a ghost who had attacked him, his claws extended, he pushed the ghost away, "They are attacking us too?" Huang scowled as his weapon met yet another of the enemies, and as he stabbed into the air of the ghost, it disseminated like a will-o-wisp.

This was ridiculous. Jianyu did not appreciate the situation he was in one tiny bit. Besides the fact that he was irritated with Huang for not following directions well (despite the fact that he was, inf fact, clinging to him as a child would a stuffed toy), they were surrounded by what seemed like ghostly apparitions on all sides.

Angry ghostly apparitions, for that matter. They seemed to be engaging in a battle of sorts, and the last thing Jianyu wanted was to be involved in a long-dead ghost fight over something that did not exist anymore. Not to mention that it was the dead of night, and exhaustion, combined with his nearly unbearable fear of the unnatural, was making him slightly dizzy. He let go of Huang-Fu and stumbled backwards, falling back against a nearby tree.

"I mean, you deal with them." Jianyu replied hoarsely, runnign a hand through his sweat dampened hair. "Get rid of them. I can't...I won't do anything with them. I can't. You're strong enough. Either you figure out a way to make them disappear, or I swear I will be dragging you away and running for a way out of this damned forest in less than five minutes."
