But appearances could be deceiving and who was Melody to judge on appearances alone? Besides, the girl was rather adorable in that tomboy-ish, rough and rumble way. And for a moment, just a moment, the blonde was jealous of the other's ability to willingly get rough and rumble.
It vanished as she watched Syndey down her juice and crush the can, in an action Melody barely caught as she had taken a bit more of her drink. In the next moment the can was tossed into the bin. "Share some with me?" she echoed curiously.
The answer was given as Melody found herself picked up off the ground and suddenly she was aware of how much taller the red head was. She hadn't paid much attention to the difference before, but it was hard to ignore when one was being lifted off of the ground. Immediately the blonde giggled and moved to try and cap her drink.
"Transfer complete!" she giggled out, hands moving for the other girl's shoulders. "I think."

The blonde’s laughter tinkling like bells in Sydney’s ears, a pleased redhead eventually lowered the smaller girl to the ground. With her lips pulled into a tight, serious line she placed a hand on one of Melody’s shoulders while the other rested on her waist. “Well, miss, I hope that it’ll be enough to get you through the day.” She broke out into a sunny smile before suddenly turning curious as she stared at Melody’s cup of tea. “I hope I didn’t spill any? Oh, but then you’d be dabbing away at your clothes or shrieking at the intense heat, right?”
She laughed, plopping down on a nearby bench and gesturing for Melody to take a seat beside her. “Do you come here everyday? Since all the schools are closed, most stores too,” Sydney wondered, leaning her head and shoulders against the wall. “I do. It’s dull, but I can’t stop.”

Her giggles continued as she was set down, not bothered by the serious look on the redhead's face. "It's fine. I managed to cap it before it could have possibly spilled." As if to prove her point she lifted up the capped drink.
Uncapping it and taking a drink, the blonde girl decided to take up the offer and sat herself down beside the redhead. Her brown eyes watched as her companion's head leaned back, taking her shoulders with it. Melody let out a soft sigh then nodded, drink capped once again.
"I do too... Papa's not been working since the city shut down, spends most of his time with momma and his nephew. I come and keep him company and make sure he eats." The whole city seemed seemed so... lonely and empty. It was sad.

Sydney tossed her a silent thumbs up of approval, the words “Mission Accomplished” obviously ringing in her thoughts. “That’s good. I’d feel guilty if I happened to dirty your clothes. If it was me and my family, my mother would have an absolute fit about it.” She sheepishly laughed and scratched the top of her head, imagining the string of profanities and yelling that would ensue. It was a sight she had grown accustomed to, since the tomboy liked to get down and dirty. Fun for Sydney, but not fun for her mother (or Jayden, depending on whether he did the laundry on time or not).
“A lot of people aren’t working at the moment, I imagine,” she replied stoically, eyes glued to a nearby clock. “. . . it’s getting a bit late, isn’t it?” Sydney pointed out after a moment of silence. “Why don’t I walk you home?”

"My mom wouldn't mind, I don't think. As long as it's not destroyed." Smiling, there was a hint of sadness behind her eyes as she remembered her mother was slumbering away in the very building they were in. Damn this city and it's penchant for disasters.
So it was, she noted as her eyes moved up to the clock. She needed to get her dad home and head back to school before curfew set in. Turning to the redhead at the offer made, she smiled and shook her head.
"I appreciate it, but I need to pull my dad away from my mom's bed before I head back to the dorms. Maybe the next time we meet." She was grateful though.

Sydney smiled softly and nodded sympathetically. “I understand. Hopefully we’ll meet again!” she said in a gentle voice, calmly smiling as she began to walk away. She took a few steps forward, her body twisted so that she still faced Melody and waved before finally turning around.
They would be meeting again in a way the senshi of lies would never have expected.
