what about a 5th team as well.. for characters with no innate magic, no magical abilities, and the are essentially technology-stupid. perfect example.. my OC.. he has no magic, hes a fantasy character, but only uses things like swords.. doesnt even have guns in his world and only the humans in his world use steam and water turbines to power anything.

I don't think their team should be dependent on their skills and abilities, if the people are summoned randomly. Imagine how irritated some people from the high magic/low tech world be if they got a couple androids/cyborgs/robots/whathaveyou on their team.

Love it! XD I like the idea of each RP manager being in control of their 'section' too, it's a great way of letting us have our own little domain without encroaching on others, but keeping a cooherant vision. :3 I already have a ton of ideas for mine if you'll let me have one! XD <3
I can think of two options for when people join - either we ask them to generate a random number, which determines which side they're on, although this means that it's possible we could end up with a great disproportian of people depending on how the numbers go. Or we ask them to submit a short profile and then we decide where best to put them.
I'm sure we can have events or situations that give characters the chance to switch sides for whatever reason, either properly or as a spy. XD Maybe something like this could be an optional 'reward' for certain things?

Overpowered characters is definitely a toughie. Perhaps we can try to tailor any challenges directed at them as more puzzles and social ones.
I have a ton of overpowered characters and usually I limit them myself when I enter them into a world where they would be overpowered. Many of my characters are dragons who have a human form, and usually I will make them 'stuck' in human form for some reason... even then though some of them have some weird amazing powers - which is appropriate when they are fighting each other or Dragon Hunters, but not fighting more ordinary heroes.
I don't think we can rely on people to find a reason to limit their character. We need to be proactive about designing events which allow these characters to show off and still not unbalance the event. So I think it comes to us to design something that will do so.
Knowing 'who' is in your area (country, area, plane, whatever) will help so we can prepare - I guess the RP manager should be responsible for anticipating behavior and being ready for it. Just like in any tabletop game...
I still think there needs to be some way to control it for retarded RPers - I don't want to kick people out for being retarded or whatever their version of fun is, but we do need to control it so it doesn't become disruptive... hmm.
Edit - also maybe we can have a way for them to be able to RP together, outside of their areas, like in some kind of other realm outside of run 'events' - maybe a tavern or town of the realms where everyone can go to rest, or talk... I enjoyed seeing the RPs mix and match and move about in different directions.

Yup, I was thinking of a neutral zone as well, where they can go to for most of the non-event times. It'll probably be where taverns, NPC buildings, games and other events would be.
So perhaps during the application process, we don't immediately assign people to different teams but plop them into the neutral area and once we're done accepting applications, we group them around?
Also, an idea of an asylum for a RP location popped into my mind today. Possible uses; an "insane" inmate could be a quest-giver of sorts, or encounters with him/her offers the opportunity of converting/spying.
Overall I'm thinking we could have a darker, grittier feel as an undertone beneath the fanfare of the annual competition.

Great idea... Also, I am all for the dark and gritty... I have like barely any characters that way, it would be so much fun to get inspired on something new. :3

The managers, but I'm sure we'll probably need NPC's.

I figured the NPCs where our own characters? XD *getting a bit confused* Like...we'd have some characters of our own who would give quests when we feel like it, interact with the others and just generally help to drive a plot?

But I might make up some new ones, or retool some old ones, thinking of Blakely. Haha. Depends on what Thorny decides to let us do =p Either way, I want one fairly small event, and maybe some NPCs (perhaps even the same ones in my event) who will hang out in town to chat and interact/drive random RP.

Yeah I was thinking the same. :3 I was thinking the idea of having the different areas that the RP Managers 'control' is that we use our own NPCs in there - but there's no reason we can't cross into other people's areas/the town to cause some organised chaos I suppose. XD I think Zien and I are thinking of running one area together, since we work pretty well together (and it takes the pressure off me with being in charge XD) if we're permitted to do so. :3 I'd like to do some little events as well. ^^ Do you think it's worth us posting a few short profiles of some of the characters we're thinking of using? With so many creative minds here we might work better at thinking up a plot if we know the kinds of people involved, or like I know I have little ideas for what some of my characters could do in this RP, but they're not developed, and it might be good to see what other people think? Bwahaha Blakely! X3 <3 *glomps his head*

I'd probably just use Rivek to play messenger or something since he doesn't like to sit around - or pledge his allegiance. I don't have the commitment to be involved as a leader for a team. And, given story revamping, he's now straddling the line between magic and technology as it is.
