For a while, Kofuku didn't say a word to Panther, thinking carefully about what was her mind and what was her emotions trying to take over. Nina, however, was not silent, and as she ate the chili she growled, making it sound like a 'nomnomnom' sound.
Placing a hand on Nina's back, Kofuku looked him straight in the eyes; a bad choice since immediately she felt her heart wanting her to forgive him and go back to the way things were. Her mind thankfully took over though.
"I don't think being yelled at is the only problem here. How about we talk about how you tell me one thing and then act another. Or maybe the fact that you don't trust me enough to tell me your problems. Oh, and lets not forget being OH so grateful about me sticking my neck out to talk to an Elite about a problem that didn't relate to me." Hurt filled her voice and unwillingly tears started filling her eyes.

He waited, and dropped his gaze and then looked up when she spoke. A hundred things ran through his mind, and he wasn't sure what to say, and then she started crying. "I did go see Nadja." He shifted uncomfortably and then grabbed a napkin, giving it to her. "I just..."

Nina nearly lept at Panther as she smelled Kofuku's tears, and Kofuku had to use both hands to hold the rather pissed pokemon back. "Nina, calm down. I"m alright." Gently, she stroked the NIna until the pokemon was back to just warning growls, then she rubbed the tears out of her eyes, refusing the napkin Panther offered.

He jumped when Nina nearly attacked them, and had his hands up, ready to fend the pokemon off. She managed to stop the pokemon, but, he had a bad feeling. "I did go see her. I'm not a coward. And I came back, I've been trying to apologise to you for days. But. I mean, I wanted." he sighed knowing he wasn't making any sense. "I know, I'm a bit stupid. And I'm sorry. It's not something I can change overnight." He reached for his glasses, needing them to cover the stinging in his eyes. He dropped his head letting his bangs do what his glasses would do.

She just stared at him in shocked silence as he spoke, watching him and waiting as he dropped his head. She then frowned a little, her heart racing and the knot forming in her throat. "It doesn't change the fact that you say one thing and then do another. Panther, how am I supposed to trust you after this whole thing, when you showed you clearly didn't trust me. You told me you wanted me to be your leading lady, but when it came down to it and I tried to be that part and look out for YOU and your wellbeing, you shoved it back in my face without a care."

Anger flashed across his face. "You went behind my back to talk to her. You didn't ask me if it was ok first. Damn it." A fist came on the table glasses crunching under the force. "I'm trying to apologize. I know you were trying to help. It just didn't feel like you were trying to help." dropping the now broken glasses his arms found the better use of covering his face, his shoulders shaking a bit in silence.

"Like I could talk to you in the state you were in? You didn't give me much in the way of choices! Hell, there was hardly any information from you about what had happened!" If it hadn't been for the fact that Nina was beside her, she would have felt rather scared when he broke his glasses. Even now, her hand twitched on Nina's back and the pokemon growled at Panther again as the Quilava became upset that her human was becoming scared.
Looking off to the side, Kofuku's voice got incredibly quiet. "I don't want to put myself through the pain of getting close to someone only to have them killed. And yes, Panther, they can and WILL kill you if the raids don't." She thought back to the very real death threat she'd received from Seth.

A few moments later he looked up, water tails down his face, which he quickly rubbed away. "Don't be stupid. They aren't going to kill us for just any little thing. Punish us, yes, but killing is for deserters and I'm not one of those." He dropped his gaze, trying to get rid of the redness in his face.

"If they find someone useless, they'll kill that person as well; something Seth made very clear to me when we had that private lesson."
Normally, her heart would have been hurting because he'd been crying, but this time she was so frustrated and hurt herself she really didn't care. At this point, she was more concerned with protecting herself and not having a repeat of her heart shattering. At that very moment, she felt horrible for everything, and she wanted to cry but she wasn't sure why.
"You still don't seem to understand Panther. Everything you said back there, it was a slap in the face." Standing up, she picked up the two bowls she'd gotten. "And I don't feel like having all of my efforts and my emotions thrown back in my face again. It hurt enough the first time."

"I do understand. That's why I'm apologizing. I know I hurt you. I don't expect an apology to make it all better just like that." he sighed and got up, leaving the bowl. "But I thought it might mean something to you. I'm not sure what else I can do, if you don't want to be around me anymore." he sighed and headed for the cafeteria door, pulling his hat low.

"It's not that I don't want to accept it, but it's the fact that I don't know if I can trust you anymore, Panther." She looked at him as he headed for the door. "You were my first for everything, and I gave you my undieing loyalty and trust only to have it thrown back at me. I can forgive, but I don't think I'll ever forget..."

He stopped, and growled annoyed. "Undying loyalty?" He turned back and and walked back up to her, stopping a foot from her face. "Undying loyalty? I don't think you know what that means. Because if you were really going to give me something like that, you wouldn't have run away so easily after having you feelings hurt. Trust isn't something that just appears out of no where." His hands shook, but he kept them at his sides. "Relationships, trust and teams aren't build over night, they require time, effort, hard work and getting hurt a few times. That's how we learn. You shouldn't trust me yet. Not by a long shot. But that applies to everyone. I know you were an orphan. Trust doesn't come easily to you, which means you are going to have to work even harder to let yourself trust people. But don't let the whole effort go to waste after one bad moment next time. Yes, next time, because I highly doubt you will forgive me." He ran out of breath but stared directly into her eyes the whole time he said this. He waited watching to see if even one word got through to her.

Anger filled Kofuku's eyes and her hands clenched into fists. How DARE he have the nerve to say that, because she was an ORPHAN she had a hard time trusting him, or anyone else for that matter. IN fact, she'd trusted him very much until this whole incident came about, and she trusted Faleen with her life and that was a bond she'd formed with her neighbor very shortly after meeting her. Not to mention Hayes, who she trusted as well with her life.
"No, there won't be a next time." Her voice held a dangerous tone to it. "You want to know why? Because I'm already seeing someone." And then it hit her what she just said, and her mind scrambled to figure some poor bloke to pin this on. Moving away from him and reaching for the cafeteria door, she paused and looked back, glowering, having decided on the perfect person to be 'dating' in this situation. "His name is Will, and he's in the Outpost... not like you'd ever heard of him."
Nina followed Kofuku, her flames on her back spiking out as she snarled and growled at Panther, warning him to keep away.

"Oh, you mean the one who ******** up with the DNA. I see, you are fast to move on." Tears feel from his eyes, but he didn't bother to wipe them away. "He's in the same s**t I am. Well, good luck with him, hope you are happy." he turned and left, not bothering to turn back.

Snorting, Kofuku turned and walked the other way, arms crossed tightly across her chest in a sort of hug like she always did when she felt like crap. And oh man did she feel like crap. Tears rolled down her cheeks as she tried to identify the emotions in her; there was fear, anger, sadness, annoyance, but no where could she find any joy or happiness in what had just happened. So, she did the only thing she knew would make her feel better, since at the moment she probably couldn't even bring her thoughts together enough to talk to Faleen.
Down the hall she went to the infirmary, crossing her fingers to see if she'd be allowed to work, even on her day off. Even if it was mindless hall cleaning, it was better than to sit around and let her thoughts drive her crazy.
