= 01 =Kalena Scope "I'm home!" Kalena called from the entrance of her apartment. Slipping her loafers off and dropping her bags from her shoulder, she sighed heavily with relief. Another incredibly long day of work was finally over. The winter chill made her throat beg for mercy with every class she taught. Her colleagues and students were dropping like flies due to the annual bout of influenza circulating. "The last thing I need is to get sick," she sighed, seeing her pups, Beaner and Zorro turn the corner, charging for her slippers. The little balls of fur barked and rolled around playfully as Kalena wiggled her weary feet into her house slippers. Shaking her foot, Kalena laughed and the pups nipped and pawed at her feet. "Be careful, you two! You know my feet are ticklish!"She simply smiled as the pups barked in unison and began running back down the hallway. Some people had wives, children, or 'normal' sized house pets to return home to every day. Kalena had two hamster-sized puppies and an eternally glowing, magenta colored lanturn to welcome her home. Rhydion Lena's home! Rhydion rejoiced. He watched enviously as Beaner and Zorro, who up until they heard Kalena call out were cuddling up at his base, run off to greet her. Some day, I'll be able to run to the door, too. Just you wait and see!Kalena placed Rhydion in the living room near the window before leaving for work that morning. He spent the day looking around the room and listening to the pups chat with each other. The floor stand Kalena selected for him was short, but sturdy, so as not to tip if the pups got into some mischief when Kalena wasn't at home. Rhydion flickered happily when the pups climbed in and out of the curls in the base, moreso when they touched him with their noses or tiny paws. I wish I could pet them... Rhydion sighed. I want them to know that I love them, too. One day, one day I will surprise them all!Seeing an exhausted Kalena enter the living room, Rhydion glowed a bit brighter, hoping she would notice his greeting, too. It was his only way to tell her he was happy she was home. One day, he'll be able to say it with his own voice. The pups raced in, one after the other, and resumed crawling in and out of Rhydion's lanturn base. Just wait for me...please? Kalena tossed her mail and keys on the coffee table, and set her briefcase on the floor next to Rhydion's lanturn stand. The pups turned their attention from Rhydion's stand to the luck charms hanging off the strap of her briefcase. Kalena strode into the other room, so she could change her clothes in private. "No chewing on them," Kalena warned gently. "It'll give me back luck."The pups pawed at the charm before jumping on top of the briefcase. Each of them attempted to jump onto the low-rising coffee table with no success. Rhydion watched them, wishing he could help them up. Kalena would return soon, changed out of her suit. Rhydion liked the combination she chose that morning. A black skirted suit with a bright pink dress shirt. It was the same pink as Rhydion, and that made him happy. The pups called it Kalena's 'Rhyd' shirt, which surprised him because the could speak 'human', too. I can't wait until I can to talk with them, too, Rhydion thought dreamily. He wondered if Beaner and Zorro would be surprised to hear Rhydion talk. He hoped the puppies would be happy and want to play with him more. Kalena returned, wearing her running warm ups. She had taken out her contact lenses and pulled her hair back into a clip. She was ready to relax, and have another restful evening home with her 'family.' Rhydion wondered if Kalena would continue reading from the book tonight? She read for an additional hour the next before because her audience responded so positively. "I'll continue Wesley and Buttercup's story in a little bit, okay?" Kalena said scooping the pups off her briefcase and setting them on top of the coffee table. Rhydion watched as they began jumping and playing with the letters Kalena set there earlier. Next she took Rhydion from his floor stand and hung him on the taller stand beside the coffee table. Rhydion flickered a shudder when Kalena picked him up. It was another cold day, and Kalena hadn't worn her gloves. "They're like ice cubes, I know," Kalena whispered apologetically. "I forgot my gloves in the locker room again, sorry."Rhydion glowed brightly, attempting to console her. As always, it made her smile. Sitting down, Kalena attempted to free her mail from the pups, but resigned herself to one piece of mail at a time. Scanning the table, Kalena was disappointed to find bills for her utilities and credit card, along with several miscellaneous advertisements and a couple of packets of tissues. Peeking out from beneath Zorro, Kalena caught a glimpse of something that was neither business nor junk mail. It was a postcard from one of her private students, Renka, who left on vacation earlier in the week. Renka Ishihara's Postcard "Temple of the Moon" Sensei, can you believe it!? I am in Atlantis! Thank you so much for recommending 'The Garden of Poseidon' to me. I am having the most unbelievable time. I must show you the amber stone that I found. See you! (^o^)/ Renka "Look where Renka's at! She finally went on her dream vacation..." Kalena sighed with envy as she finished reading the postcard aloud. She showed the postcard to Rhydion and then the puppies. Rhydion glowed warmly, approving of the picture on postcard. The puppies sniffed and licked the postcard, wondering if Kalena would let them chew on it. Holding it out of the reach of their paws, Kalena slid the adverts toward them. "You can have a ball with this junk mail. Renka's postcard is going on the wall."Finding a spare clip on her display write, Kalena hung Renka's postcard. It was tacked above her utility table, just over her laptop computer. Rhydion was happy that Kalena picked that location. When he 'helps' her study, he can look at the postcard with the shiny blue and white rocks on them. Rhydion noticed that Kalena had many interesting postcards, all of which were from her friends around the worldl most of which were places she'd never been. Seeing the look of longing on her face, Rhydion decided then that he would ask her the stories behind each and every one. He loved her stories, and the way she'd make voices to go with them. I want to tell stories like 'Lena Rhydion mused. She's the best story teller ever!Notes & Details (by Kaleido) 0. Status: Closed (Complete)1. Renka Ishihara is another guardian I use for some additional pets not 'owned' by Kalena Scope. They are good friends whom live in the same town. The amber stone Renka refers to is *Hadara*, her newly acquired *Reliquiant*. 2. The 'Atlantis' Renka's writing from is neither the Bahamian resort, 'Atlantis', nor the Italian Spa, 'The Gardens of Poseidon', but a fictious combination of the two paired with the actual Atlantis of Greek mythology (prior to its sinking by the gods). 3. Needs editing as Rhydion cannot think as I wrote him... yet.

= 02 =Hakim's Postcard (by Midnight_Medea) (Sunset by John Kalucki) Kalena, I apologise for the lack of contact. I could not operate the int-a-net and my house has no phone. I hope you are well. I have some exciting news, I am adopting a pet. It is a creature called a Dumyr, much like a cat. His name will be Shandar, I am about to attend a meeting to discuss the adoption. I remember you telling me you had two dogs. How are they? Finally, there will be a night of Kinii music and a dance demonstration at the Mela Cafe next Wednesday. Will you be going? Hopefully I'll see you there.
Isis be with you. Hakim "It's been ages since I heard from him," Kalena exclaimed, showing the postcard to Rhydion. She smiled seeing Rhydion glowing happily. Before them, several blank post cards were laid out before them. It wasn't until Renka's postcard from Atlantis, that Kalena went shopping for new stationery. Unable to make a decision, Kalena spent way more than she originally intended on pens, stationery sets, and post cards. She had already written her reply letter to Renka on several pieces of gorgeous Japanese paper, but she was having the damnest time trying to select a postcard for Hakim's reply. I love the one with the Chinese lanterns, Rhydion thought, glowing brighter when Kalena's fingers touched it. She deliberated for over ten minutes, but every time she reached for the lantern card, Rhydion rallied in its favor. He wished that she could hear his voice. All he could do, though, was glow brighter and dimmer to express his emotions. *pausedKaleido's Notes 0. Status: Open (*in progress) 1. Hakim (link) is a character by (Gaia Member: Midnight_Medea) which she is using for RP in another shop (Dumyrciedel). I am applying for a pet from this shop in the future using Kalena. 2. The links on the post cards go to the sites where the card was sent (or to the image used). They remain the property of their owners. 3. The Lantern Festival is part of the Chinese New Year Celebration that happens on February 12. It is not an event in SE (that I know of). 4. Edit Rhydion's part!!

= 03 = Medium: Soul Emporium Thread (link) Starring: Kalena w/ Rhydion Featuring: Arian , Erina w/ Mocha , & Toshi
Kalena Scope (KaleidoscopeGrl) Kalena finally had an evening where she was home before dinner time. It was clear outside, so she changed out of her suit and slipped into a blue jean skirt of jeans and a chunky teal sweater. It had been a couple of weeks since she brought Rhydion home, so she figured it was time to take him for a little walk. "It's a gorgeous evening, Rhydion," Kalena said as she slipped on her black, leather boots. "Want to go get some fresh air that isn't just on the balcony?"Rhydion flickered happily. Kalena felt horrible for not taking him out sooner, but between classes and the administrative paperwork she had beem swimming in, it couldn't be helped. Putting on her coat, she took her purse in one hand, and Rhydion in the other. Her pups, Beans & Zorro, sat at the threshold as Kalena bid them good night. "You two are in charge!" Kalena said with a smile. "Rhyd, let's see if we can find others like you!" Taking the map from her purse, Kalena and Rhydion set out for the shopping district where they first met. Toward the Soul Emporium.
Eri (Erina_Nobara) Eri sat on the big, comfy couch she'd been using the first time she had decided to stay in the shop where she'd first acquired 'Mocha'. She'd lounge about and wait for perhaps another 'owner' to show up. It'd be nice to meet some new people, and it was good to be getting out of the house.
Mocha rested in Erin's lap, flickering energetically while Eri pondered. "You know, I wonder if I could teach you morse code....ya know? Until you 'changed'."
The light in the lanturn grew brighter in response.
"Yes....that WOULD be interesting...."
Arian (kaze1981) The bell jangled as the door to the shop was pushed open, bright emerald eyes peering in curiously at the shop. one hand curled gently around a jade green lantern. The owner of the eyes, a jade-haired unicorn boy was holding a pale jade coloured lantern carefully in his right hand, his tail twitching somewaht as he stared in fascination at the many lanterns on display. "Oh wow..."
Kalena Kalena found the shop once again, full of new laturns looking for homes. She opened the door and looked around. There were some new faces that she hadn't seen before, and if she had seen them prior, she hadn't met them personally. "Hello there," Kalena said, calling out to the shop customers. "How is everyone this lovely evening?"She looked around a younger woman and a unicorn boy. 'How fantastic!' the thought. She made her way to the couch with Rhydion. He flickered happily seeing another lanturn. "May I sit here?" Kalena asked.
Eri "Oh yes of course," Eri said with a smile, patting the empty space next to her. "Be my guest."
Mocha shone brightly as he sensed two other lanturns close by.
"Oh my. Who do we have here?" Eri asked, eyeing the unicorn-being with awe. "Are you a manifested spirit? You're so handsome." <333
Arian Arian blinked, emerald eyes turning to focus on the lady speaking to him. She'd come into the shop behind him and was holding a lantern too. "Hi" he said peering at the lantern she was carrying with undisguised curiosity as she made her way over to the couch where another woman was sitting. "I'm ok... I"
His attention was distracted as the lady on the couch spoke up, his eyes drawn to her brightly glowing lantern. "I'm Arian" he told the sitting lady. "And yes I'm a spirit, but I've not been out too long." he wrinkled his nose slightly "I like being out though since there's lots to see out here. Uncle Kori says I ask too many questions though."
Kalena Kalena looked at the unicorn boy with a warm smile, as she took her seat. She thanked, the young woman. Kalena was surprised to see Rhydion flickering so happily.
"My! My, Rhydion! I haven't seen you this happy in days. Have you made a new friend?" Kalena said a bit surprised. Turning her attention to the conversation, the words 'manifested spirit' caught her attention. The unicorn boy was maginificent, indeed.
"It's nice to meet you both. My name's Kalena Scope. I'm a local high school English teacher," she said with a warm, older sisterly smile. "This here, is Rhydion. From the looks of it, he's very happy to meet you, too. May I ask a question? I am little new at this. What is a manifested spirit?"
Toshi (Hakari-chan) Hearing voices from the lounge in the front of the shop, Toshi poked her head in through a door marked 'Employees only' that led to the back of the shop. Her bright majenta eyes lit up in surprise at all the people there. Even another spirit as big as herself. Suddenly excited, the magenta and pink themed girl rushed out of the back and ran forward to the group of women and Arian, smiling brightly. She bowed in welcome, just the way Hakari had taught her to. "Welcome to Soul Emporium, my name is Toshi, how may I be of assistance?" She asked with a smile as she stood up straight once more, wild magenta hair falling back into place and framing her pretty face.
Eri "Oh? I was told that these lanturns house the spirits of the deceased. Once manifested, they take on a 'human-like' appearence. It's amazing I must say." Mocha seemed very excited at this, and began blinking in a crazy, almost blinding manner. "Goodness! Calm down! I can't lose my sight just yet. I'm not that old. Heh. Anyway, it's nice to meet you Ms. Kalena. My name is Eri, and this is Mocha. I'm a gardener and errr...a wish granter of sorts." Suddenly a flurry of pink caught Eri's attention. "Oh my another spirit I presume? Wow. Hello, nice to meet you too Toshi."
Arian Arian blinked at the appearance of the pink-haired girl. She looked to be as tall as him and she looked friendly. Arian hadn't really met much people who smiled a lot, Mummy did and so did Uncle Kori's boyfriend - well he sort of smiled a lot and Arian always thought his smile was a little creepy.
The girl didn't look creepy though.
He gave her a smile back, "Hi Toshi, I'm Arian." He blinked at her "Why were you bending over?"
Kalena Kalena tried to hide to look of surprise as Eri explained what the lanturns were and what they were capable of. Her laturn, Mocha, was similar to Rydion, but the other two were fantastic! An adorable mangenta haired girl, Toshi, came bounding over from the back. It appeared that she worked here with Miss Hakari, whom Kalena regretfully had only sent a letter to since her last visit. The unicorn boy, Arian, was quite pleasant, too.
"I didn't know that this is what the lanturns were capable of?" Kalena said with a smile. "Rhyd here must think I am crazy. I've been reading fantasy stories to him, and acting them out for practice. I advise my school's drama club. It's nice to meet you, too, Toshi and Arian. Toshi, is Miss Hakari in? I want to thank her for allowing me to take Rhydion home with me."
Toshi "It's called a bow." Toshi explained to the unicorn boy. "Hakari said it's good to do that to show respect towards customers." The girl said cheerfully, waving one arm towards the ladies he sat by. She grinned when Arian introduced himself. she already knew who the boy was of course, having watched Potato assemble his lanturn with the help of his adopted son bumby. She had only just started helping out at the shop, so for now she did alot of observing. When the woman with the pink lanturn voiced her question, the magenta girl shook her head, sending her locks of wild hair flying again. "It's nice to meet you all, but I'm afraid my keeper isn't in right now. She's currently in France. But Sinn is here if you'd like to talk to him." she said.
Eri "Well sure," Eri grinned, expertly balancing a flickering lanturn in her lap. "I think Mocha would like that too."
Arian Arian tilted his head to one side slightly in interest at Toshi's words. It sounded like bowing was a useful thing to know how to do. Maybe he could..
Opening his mouth to ask Toshi whether or not bending over was all you needed to do he noticed that she was talking to the lady with the pink lantern and so he closed it again. maybe he could try bowing himself in secret - after all bending over wasn't that hard to do.
Belatedly he realised the lady with the pink lantern was speaking to him and he smiled politely at her "Pleased to meet you too Miss.." he wasn't sure what her name was so just settled on 'Miss'.
Kalena "Please call me Kalena, Arian. Or 'Lena is fine, too," she said with a broad smile. "My kids at school call me Miss Kalena. Any of them are fine really."
Kalena was jealous to hear that Miss Hakari was off in France, but relieved to hear that Sinn was taking care of the shop in her absense. She remembered the first time she met Sinn, and wondered if he actually enjoyed their first encounter together. She couldn't believe that Rhydion would one day become so lifelike. He wasn't just a fancy home accent. She was concerned, but it meant that she could finally have someone to take care of at home. She wouldn't be so lonely.
"I'd like to see Sinn again, too," Kalena said looking down at Rhydion with a hint of nostalgia. "That is, if he isn't too busy at the moment."

- 04 -RP with Sinn! (link)Sinn (Hakari-chan Sinn's eyes were blazing angrily, as though he had taken offense at something. "Do not...speak of Lune that way, either of you." The man said in a low voice as he looked at them withe piercing golden eyes that resembled a bird of prey's. He shoved the fan into his belt and stalked into the shop, slamming the door behind him in a flurry of long green sleeves and blonde hair. kaleidoscopegrl Kalena entered the shop again, the bells jingling as she entered. She brought Rhydion with her, hoping to meet more people or some familiar faces. The slamming of a door and green sleeves swishing past her startled her. Rhydion flickered happily. It was Sinn. She hadn't seen him since her first visit.
"Hello there, Sinn," Kalena said with a smile. "It's been a while since we last met. " Sinn Sinn whirled on the woman, the coat draped across his shoulders flaring out like a cape, his hair doing the same before they both settled elegantly across his back and shoulders once more. His eyes were still blazing, but not so much as before. The tall, tan man reached for his fan and snapped it out again and began fanning himself again.
"What is it you require?" The man asked bluntly, clearly not much in the mood for formalities. Kalena The speed at which he turned on her, surprised her. Sinn was elegant, if not, a bit flamboyant. Though he was curt, Kalena still found him fascinating. Hoping to calm him down she smiled gently, holding Rhydion up a little higher.
"I know you are busy, Sinn, but I have a few questions about Rhydion," Kalena said slowly. "Could you give a little information about him? I learned that he is a soul, but what kind? What can I do to entertain him? I mean I read to him, and he responds, but..."
She paused again, looking down at her pink lanturn lovingly.
"I want to make him happy."
No sooner did she begin talking with Sinn, her mobile phone rang. It was work. AGAIN.
"Will you please excuse me?" She sighed, apologetically. "This won't take long." Sinn Sinn rolled his eyes, though only one was visible. He took the lanturn from the woman without asking, and looked at it critically. He began to speak "It's male, died as a child in his former life, enjoyed books and games. That's all I can tell from his past life while he's still unmanifested." The man said, handing the lanturn back to Kalena. "He seems to enjoy you reading to him, as lanturns cannot see, though they are able to hear and listen." He said, ceasing to fan himself and crossed his arms over his chest. "Until he manifests, just spend time with him by talking to him, he'll be glad to listen. Tell him about goings on and such. He died quite some time ago. At least 50 years ago by the feel of him, so he won't know much about modern tech. You can talk to him about that." The elf explained. "Anything else?" Kalena Returning from her unexpected phone call, Kalena apologized to Sinn again. She was relieved to hear that her reading and acting wasn't completely without benefit. Sinn's perspective on Rhdion's past was quite helpful. Making a mental note to thing of exciting things to talk about with Rhyd, she racked her brain for any final questions for Sinn.
"I do know that you are quite busy, Sinn, but I thank you for taking the time to assist me," Kalena smiled. "I'm quite impressed with your ability to tell such details about a lanture purely by looking at it. Are all of these lanturns this active? Are there different kinds? I met Toshi and Arian earlier, will Rhydion turn out like them?"
Rhydion was only a child when he passed away. 'How tragic,' Kalena thought. 'I hope your new life with me will be enjoyable.' Sinn "No. Without absorbing another lanturn he will be small like many of the others when he manifests." Sinn explained. "Arian and Toshi have both absorbed a third level lanturn in order to appear the way they do now." he said. Kalena "Really? I am sure third level lanturns are hard to come by then? I'm not in a rush to force Rhydion to manifest, I just find it all so fascinating." Kalena said looking at Rhydion again. "How many lanturns can one aborb? Not all of the souls are human, are they? I remember Arian was a unicorn, if I remember correctly. Pardon my silly questions, Sinn. I'm usually not this inquisitive."
Kalena wished she had a notepad to take down everything Sinn was telling her. He was so informed, but also so busy. Running her fingers through her hair, she pushed some loose hairs from her face.
"I know you are busy, so I appreciate you taking all this time for me," She said with a smile, hoping to lighten his mood a little. Kaleido's Notes 0. Status: Complete1. Kalena's first meeting with Sinn (since my FS App)

- 03 - Meeting Rown w/ Dusk & Skutt (link)Kalena Scope (KaleidoscopeGrl) With Rhydion in hand, Kalena wandered through the streets again. She found herself returning to Soul Emporium frequently. She'd discovered a brand new world, full of interesting and fantastic people. Since taking Rhydion home, Kalena's left felt a little brighter. Now she knew why. One day, he would manifest into something fantastic.
"Another lovely night, Rhyd." Kalena smiled. "Shall I continue reading the story tonight when we return home?"
Rhydion flickered happily. Reading the story about love, pirates, and adventure, was theraputic for Kalena. The school's musical production, consumed the majority of Kalena's energy, but it's serious and depressing themes exhausted her. Arriving at the shop again, Kalena paused before walking in. 'I wonder who I will meet today.'
"I hope I can bring you to the show," Kalena sighed wearliy. "I want you to see what I do at work all day." Dusk (Rown) Dusk looked up as he saw someone outside the shop, his quick reaction to pull himself into a small a ball as possible. Maybe if he stayed this small he wouldn't be seen, and that would be a good thing.
But astaying curled also hurt his legs and his bruises something fierce. It was no fun to be in pain, so he stretched out a little. Only a little. Skutt w/Kanika (Skutt) In a daze, Skutt wandered to the Emporium, doubtfully following the directions she had been given. In one hand she clutched a purse, the other held a small black lanturn, with a cat's face imprinted on the side.
She paused at the threshold of the building, and stepped cautiously inside.Kanika glowed cheerfully, excited to be brought out into the wide (cold) world. Flakes of snow fell gently onto the little lanturn, and she seemed to shine all the brighter for it. Kalena Kalena saw the someone curled in a ball as she entered the shop. Instantly, her older sisterly side, forced her into the teacher mode. Working on the counseling and discipline committees drove her to worry about everyone and everything.
"Are you okay?" Kalena said crouching down in front of the boy. "Are you hurt? Can I call someone to help you?"
Kalena set Rhydion down by her side. Her face was painted with worry. She had seen kids like him before. Hurt and scared. Dusk Dusk pulled himself more inward as the woman approached, wincing as he bent his knee and the bandage on it pinched his skin. He nodded and then shook his head to answer her questions when she asked them, as Dusk knew it was good manners to respond to people when they speak to you.
"I...I'm okay. I was...playing. Yes."
He lied, badly. Skutt The first thing that caught her eye was a small, purple boy. Skutt stared, but only for a moment. She had, after all, seen stranger things on Gaia. The next thing she saw was a woman with a lanturn, similar to her own. This relieved her immensely. Hopefully the woman knew more than she did about the lanturns, which was likely given Skutt's complete ignorance on the subject.
"Hi!" she called out warmly, wondering if she was interrupting anything. The woman was kneeling over the small boy with a look of concern on her face. Placing her own lanturn carefully next to the other, Skutt knelt as well. "So...how's it going?" Making conversation was awkward for her, and the strange quality of the boy did not make things easier. She wondered if he was human. Kalena Kalena eyed Dusk wearliy. She had heard that line plenty enough in her own school to know when someone was telling the truth or not. She tried forcing a conving smile across her face as she rose slowly.
"Yes, I believe that," she said half-scoldingly and half-worried. "I'm not going to hurt you, I promise."
Looking to the girl who arrived, suddenly, Kalena introduced herself.
"My name's Kalena Scope. I'm a high school teacher. This is Rhydion," she said picking her lanturn up from the floor. "Would you like to sit and talk for a while?" Dusk Dusk watched both women with his cobalt blue eyes, sitting himself up after he had heard one of the names. His hood fell from atop his head, finally giving his sheep ears a chance to pop out and flit around.
The readily did so once they were free, taking in more sounds now that they were no longer muffled. It seemed to be snowing outside, as he could hear the sounds of footsteps crunching on something.
"...Thank you."
Dusk wasn't very good at conversation either. He used to be, but now that he was older things were harder for him to do. Plus he was growing more and more afraid as each day passed, so it was a no-win situation. Skutt Skutt wondered if Kalena was inviting her to sit and talk, or the strange boy before them. She flinched as a pair of goat-ears appeared, and tried not to stare again.
"My name's Skutt, and this is Kanika," she said politely, smiling a little. "Rhydion is a lanturn like mine, isn't she? I mean, I assume it's a she," she added a little sheepishly, blushing slightly. How did one determine a lanturn's gender? She didn't ponder this for long, instead gesturing to a large, comfortable-looking sofa. "Shall we all sit down?"Kanika beamed a greeting at the other lanturn, far less reserved than her human guardian's introduction had been. Kalena Kalena smiled seeing Dusk's ears. His pale purple skin, blue eyes, and animal ears hinted to her that, he too, was a manifested spirit. Offering her hand to Dusk, she addressed them
"There's a comfortable couch inside. How about the three of us head inside and take over that comfortable couch," she said pointing in the window with her other hand. "What's you name, young man? It's nice to meet you, Skutt & Kanika."
Kalena eyebrow arched at the assumption that Rhydion was a girl. She would have to get used to hearing it, as Rhydion was a soul encased in a mangenta colored lanturn. Remembering back to her conversation with Hakari and Sinn, Kalena knew that Rhydion would have a tough road ahead of him.
"Like everything in the world, Skutt, things are not always what they seem," Kalena mused, using her teacher voice. "His name is Rhydion. I hope eventually, he, Kanika, and our new friend here will become friends.

Kalena - Arian/Kaze #2 (link)Kalena Scope "What a gorgeous evening, Rhydion," Kalena said making her way down the snowy streets.
The snow was falling gently, forcing her to draw her coat higher aroung her neck. She huddled Rhydion close to her, for fear that he might catch cold. She had become more protective of him after learning what he truly was and capable of. Rhydion glowed brighter as she held him to her chest for warmth.
"I'm sorry, kiddo," she smiled. "I don't want to crush you! I hope you don't get too cold."
She wondered if it were strange that she was contemplating finding a way to dress Rhydion up for practicality purposes. Winter is still lingering, and she fears that the slight dampness of her apartment will ruin him. She arrived at the plaza with Soul Emporium nearby, stopping to take a breather and enjoy the falling snow.Kaze & Arian (kaze1981) "Are we nearly home yet?" Arian asked scrunching up his face slightly, although the unicorn boy refused to let go of the bag he was carefully holding. "Its so cold" he shivered. "And I'm hungry."Kaze nodded, the half sprite holding a bag of her own. Personally the snow didn't particularly bother Kaze too much, but she had discovered that Arian wasn't particular fond of snow.. Besides she didn't want him to catch a cold.
"Tell you what - I'll make you some hot chocolate when we get back. Ok?" Kalena Scope Kalena smiled as Rhydion flickered happily. She wasn't particularly fussed about the winter since Rhydion's arrival. Looking around she saw few people out, but caught a glimpse of the familiar unicorn boy, Arian.
"Shall we say hello?" she asked Rhydion, informing who she spotted. As always, Rhyd flickered happily.kaze1981 Arian suddenly caught sight of a face that looked familiar, the unicorn boy freeing one hand from the bag so he could wave at her "Hi Miss.. um" He tried to remember her name. "Hi Miss Kalene" he hoped that he'd remembered it right.Kaze blinked as Arian suddenly waved to an unfamiliar woman, she was holding something close to her which was glowing, although the half sprite couldn't quite make it out. Tilting her head to Arian she looked at him curiously "Is she a friend of yours Arian?" Kalena Scope Kalena waved and made her way over to Arian, and noticed that he was accompanied by a beautiful woman. She wondered if the woman could be his guardian, like she was Rhydion's.
"Arian, It's wonderful to see you again. It's really cold tonight, isn't it?" Kalena said, turning to the woman. "My name's Kalena Scope. It's a pleasure to meet you. This here's Rhydion. Say hello, Rhyd."Rhydion glowed brighter than before. It was clear that he was very happy to see Arian again, and to meet his companionkaze1981 Arian nodded in answer to Kaze's question "I met her when I went to the shop on my own, she was there with Miss Eri, although Miss Prisma wasn't there with her that day. She had a.."
He smiled at Kalena as she reached them "It's nice to see you too and it's freezing." The last word was said in the heartfelt way of the very cold. "Mummy's promised me hot chocolate though when we get back." He smiled at the lantern "And hello Rhydion."Kaze smiled "Pleased to meet you Miss Kalena" Kaze said as the lady finished making her way over. "I notice that you have a lantern too." She looked at the pink lantern in curiousity "Did you get it from the lantern shop too?" Kalena Scope "You mom's making how chocolate! You're a lucky boy!" She beamed cheerfully. "I have to make my own when I get home, too."
Kalena held Rhydion out for Kaze to look at. She was happy to meet another person familiar with the lanturn culture of the shop. "Yes, I received him several weeks ago. This little guy's been fantastic for making my apartment feel more homey."
Kalena reached into her pocket and took out a silver card case. Removing a card, she presented it to Kaze with a smile. It was her school business card indicating her contact information, her homeroom assignment, and club assignment. "If you'd like, Miss Kaze, let's meet for tea when the weather's a little bit warmer. Far be it for me to stand between your boy and his hot chocolate." ((link))

= * EVENT :: RHYDION MANIFESTS * = Kalena had another day full of mind numbing lessons. With Valentine's Day rapidly approaching, her department head was forcing the kids to study poetry and write love letters in her English courses. The final preparations for the musical scheduled for the 14th, were complete. Kalena felt like burnt toast. She craved the weekend and Valentine's Day to pass quickily. Dumping her briefcase beside her coffee table, she dragged a bottle of rose wine from her wine cooler and prepared for her favorite time of the week. "Thought Adjustement Hour!" Kalena sighed, cracking open the foil. "I've earned it, haven't I?"Beaner and Zorro rolled around her feet, playing with her toed socks. School was cold, so she was forced to wear thick socks with her indoor shoes and fashionable suits. Dropping down to the coffee table, the bottle of wine in one hand and a fancy wine glass in the other, Kalena set off for a night of drunken reading and stress relief. Seeing Rhydion's lanturn across the room, she got up quickly and plucked his lanturn from the beside stand. "Just because it's Valentine's Day, doesn't mean I have to be lonely, rght?" Kalena said setting Rhydion's lanturn on the table beside the bottle of wine. "I'm under 30, flirty, and fabulous!"Kalena toasted herself, and downed half the glass of wine. It wasn't exactly the example she wanted to show Rhydion, but his affectionate glowing soothed her tense nerves. Remembering Toshi and Arian, Kalena realized that soon she wouldn't be as alone as she thought. Reaching for the remote control, she flicked on her TVPC, selecting the music player. Finding her 'girl power anthem' playlist, she turned the volume up with complete disregard for her neighbors. "It's still early, so I don't care," she said draining the remaining half. Scanning the list, she selected one of her favorite country singers. Normally, Kalena detested country music, however, after a few part-time jobs in university, several musicians grew on her. Putting the pups in their playpen, Kalena scooped Rhydion's lanturn up and continued singing. Stroking the magenta lanturn gently, Kalena giggled as Rhydion appeared to flicker brightly and quickly. "Does that tickle?" she asked, holding the lanturn close. "I'm sorry! I wonder what your laugh sounds like..."Turning her attention to the wine again, Kalena strutted around the room with a glass in one hand and Rhydion in the other. Polishing off the second glass, she began dancing with Rhyd as a sassy, instrumental tune played next. It was a pirate theme she used when telling Rhydion one of her many stories. Spinning and stomping, dancing and singing, the room began to blur before her eyes. Rhydion glowed brighter and brighter as they danced together. Whispering to Rhyfion, she painted images of ships, burried treasure, fiesty, endangered princesses, and dashing, swashbuckling pirates. At the song's climax, Kalena tossed Rhydion's laturn into the air. However, Kalena fell to the floor when a flash of light temporarily blinded her. Her eyes resumed focus, and she found herself nose to nose with a bright magenta faced child with spunky, pale pink hair! Soft black feathered wings faded to vivid pink at their tips. A brilliant, gleaming smile and wide, happy eyes gazed back at her. The small boy sat on her belly, pinning her to the floor. "I'M HOME!!" Rhydion cheered, throwing his arms around Kalena's neck. "I'M HOME!! I'M HOME!! KALENA, I'M HOME, TOO!!" It was the same greeting she shouted down the hallway every night she returned from work, but until that moment, there had never been a voice to return it. Returning Rhydion's warm embrace, Kalena closed her eyes and thanked whatever forces brought Rhydion into her life. His feathers brushed against her arm, and his soft, fluffy hair tickled her ear. His giggle rang in her ears like a bell. It was a fantastic sound. "Welcome Home, Rhydion," she whispered gently, overwhelmed and slightly drunk. "WELCOME HOME! WELCOME HOME, RHYD!!"

= 05 =Location: Main Soul Emporium Thread (link)Featuring Aikori (Enikil), Hikari (Xenostatica), Dusk (Rown) Hikari (Xenostatica) Hikari was very excited she had just finished painting and she was covered with paint. Xenos had allowed her a break from her schooling so that she could go find others to play with. She knew exactly where to go. She rushed off to see who would be at the store. It wasn't far and she didn't have to worry cause she had been there before.
Humming she skipped to the front of the store, her pigtails swang as she moved with the rhythm of her sounds and the sounds of the outside world. Aikori (Enikil) Soft spirited humming was heard as a young green male hopped down the side walk. He was looking at the ground as he went, hopping over the crackes in the pavement. Arms out at the level of his shoulders, Aikori giggled and hopped from foot to foot. Enikil had let him go out to go to the library, but he had desided to make a detour to the shop. He hadn't been there in so long, not since Enikil had found him that rainy day. Maybe he'd meet more lanturns? Kalena & Rhydion (Kaleidoscopegrl) Kalena Kalena was still in a bit of shock. She was acting an except from a fantasty novel for Rhydion during 'thought adjustment hour' when something fantastic happened. One moment she was holding a lanturn, the next a small pink boy with an impish smile and black feathered wings. She decided to celebrate, she would take him to the place she first found him and then buy him ice cream.
"You never cease to amaze me," she said looking down at Rhydion. Rhydion Rhydion bounced along, holding Kalena's hand tightly. The world seemed fresh and new, like he was seeing it again for the first time. His wings flapped happily between stretches. He looked around for dragons and evil monsters, but was sadly disappointed.
"Can I have ice cream with my friends?" He asked hopefully, scratching his light pink hair. Dusk (Rown) Dusk hunched himself in a dark alley, his arms wrapped around his frame and his knees pressed firmly against his chest. His face was buried into his white sweater's sleeves, and he breathed in their comforting scent. For some reason he didn't feel like moving from that spot. Hikari Hikari was surprised as she waited at the front of the store. It seemed busier then usual. SHe hummed and danced, playing with her pigtails she was excited in hopes that she would see new and old friends. Aikori Looking up, he paused and saw the little red lanturn. He hadn't seen her in so long, Hikiari was her name he thoguht. Waving at her, he was about to run over to her when he spotted something or more like someone hiding in the Alleyway. "Hello?" He questioned softly, peeking into the darkness. Dusk Dusk flinched as he heard voices near where he was hiding, and he buried his face deeper into his arms. He couldn't help though, the fact that as he did the action he released a rather loud 'bleet'.
Way to go Dusk, pull more attention to yourself. Hikari Hikari noticed that the speck of green that was coming her way now turned his direction to something hidden that she couldn't see. She wondered a moment and then let her curiousity get to her. She rushed that way, "Hello..." Aikori Upon hearing the bleet, Aikori blinked his eyes softly as he searched with his eyes. "Hello?" He asked softly again before spotting the sheep male. " Oh... Are you okay? Are you hurt?" the green boy asked, crouching down a bit. Kalena & Rhydion Kalena Walking up the other end alley with Rhydion in tow, Kalena saw a familiar cream colored cardigan and sheeply ears. Dusk was out in the cold again. She prayed that he was okay. A pair individuals she hadn't met before were talking with him, a small Red girl and a taller green boy. Hurrying along, Kalena wanted to make sure they weren't bullying Dusk. To make things easier, she scooped Rhydion into a piggy back. Rhydion "Whee!! Faster, Mum!! Hyaaaa!" Rhydion cheered, as Kalena lifted him up. He remembered her acting out the scene for him. He held on tightly and pretended she was a horse, and he was a knight on a quest to save a princess. He held onto her neck with one arm and snapped her scarf like reigns on a horse. Kalena "Just don't choke me, okay," Kalena said laughing and rolling her eyes. Fresh out of the lanturn and Rhydion was already a handful. Dusk Dusk looked up at the pair that stood above him, and his ears swiveled to greet the people that were approaching. Just his luck, he was surrounded on all sides and had no one to call.
Sol was still out from the pain medicines to help his wing, so he couldn't come to his rescue. Maybe he could, but not yet.
"Hu....hu..."
He began to hiccup, tears threatening his eyes. Hikari Hikari was overly curious and struggled to be quite and she peeked into the alley where the congregation was. She wasn't familar with the darkness in the alley but could see the Lanturns there. The green one...his name escaped her...and Dusk!
"Dusk?! What are you doing hiding?!" She was quite loud to get his attention, she didn't like this gloom and wanted out as fast as possible but wasn't going to leave anyone to it. Enikil Aikori blinked his green eyes softly, there were so many people around now, and he knew none of them. He felt a little out of place since they all seemed to know each other. The green male looked at the quiet sheep male huddled in the darkness and frowned a bit. He stepped back a bit then chewed his lip softly. " I'm Aikori," He introduced himself, hoping to lighten the mood a bit. Kalena & Rhydion Kalena Kalena's cheeks were flushed and red from the combination of chill and running. Coming upon the group, she was relieved to overhear that they were friends or at least iniating seld-introductions. Telling Rhydion it was time to stop playing horse-y, she knelt down so Rhydion could climb off her back. Standing up again, Kalena gasped. Rhydion hadn't let go of her scarf.
"Ouch, Rhyd! Play time's over for now," Kalena said shaking the scarf free and wrapping it around Rhydion's neck. "My name's Kalena Scope, and this is Rhydion. It's nice to meet you all. Dusk, it's nice to see you again." Rhydion Rhydion was disappointed that play time ended, but wearing mum's cashmere scarf pleased him. Holding the ends, Rhydion played with him. He recognized Dusk from their previous meeting. Running up to Dusk's side, Rhydion tugged at Dusk's sweater.
"Dusk! Dusk! Dusk! It's me!! Rhydion!!" He said excitedly.
"Hello there!! Nice to meet you!" He quickly bounded up from Dusk's side and tugged at the green boy's black and red shirt. "Awesome Shirt!! Are you a pirate, too?" Dusk Dusk looked up at Kalena, the tears breaking free from his eyes anmd running down his cheeks. He nodded to say he was happy to see her, and then he turned and nodded to Aikori and Hikari.
"Sorry, I'm just crying because it's what I do. It's a pleasure to meet all of you, and to see you again Rose-chan."
He rose to his feet and dusted himself off, holding his lantern out in a form of greeting. His tears still rolled down his cheeks, but his face was stoney and a dark shade of purple.
"It's cold out."
[ Rose-chan = Rhy Xd;;; ] Hikari Hikari was quite shocked at all the people there around all of them. "Nice to meet you, Rhydion, Karlena. Aikori, I remember you, it is a pleasure," she bowed slightly at the introductions, "I'm Hikari." She was a bit surprised by Dusk's nature of being so silent and unwilling, "Why stay out in the cold?" She wasn't really sure who to direct anything to. She twirled her pigtail in one finger. Aikori "Nice to meet you too" Aikori smiled then b linked softly at the other tugging at his stripped shirt. Looking down at the little winged pink one, he smiled brightly. " A pirate? No but I'd like to watch pirate movies and maybe play pirates one day and go on a boat!" He giggled then flushed a bit, seeing he was being silly. "Are you a pirate? cause if you are I have no gold I swear!" He giggled some more as he turne dout his pockets. Kalena & Rhydion Kalena Kalena sighed, laughing lightly as Rhydion asked Aikori if he was a real pirate. Seeing Rhydion so excited, helped her understand why he had glowed so brightly when he met other lanturns. He was excitable by nature. Offering her hand to Dusk, again, she suggested to the group that they head indoors.
"There's a cafe nearby. Would you three like to celebrate with Rhydion and I?" Kalena suggested with a smile. "Tonight Rhydion manifested, so I am taking him out for cake and ice cream. It'll be my treat." Rhydion "You're lucky, Mr. Aikori! I'm one of the best pirates evarrrrr!" Rhydion growled with his best pirate accent and an impish smiled. Offering his hand to Hikari, Rhydion knelt before her like a little prince.
"Please come with us, Princess Hikari!" He smiled broadly "Mum knows the best ice cream shop." Dusk Dusk nodded and took Kalena's hand, squeezing it to assure himself that someone was really there and he was okay for now.
"That...sounds nice. Kachan tells me I need to get out with others more, not just her and Ton-chan. But..."
His ears dropped to the side of his head, and he tilted his face down.
"I hope you guys won't mind me coming along. I cry a lot, so my company isn't really prefered..." Hikari Hikari blushed, "Me, a princess, oh no, just simple Hikari. I would be honored to be accompanied by such a brave knight!" She smiled wide, "Ice cream, how exciting!" Enikil The green haired male couldn't help but put a hand up to his mouth and giggle, looking at the winged lanturn and smiled. he was so funny, very cute; Gokiloud would probably like him too. He liked everybody!
"Ice Cream? Oh I love ice cream!" Aikori beamed and smiled softly, " I would love to come thank you very much Miss Kalena" He smiled again and fixed his pockets.
"Hey Rhydion, maybe one day we can play pirates in the park? I have toy swords and stuff? we could all play!" He looked at Dusk and Hikari. He then looked at Kalena and flushed a tiny bit. "Only if its okay that is...." Kalena & Rhydion Kalena "Well that's settled! Let's go to the ice cream shop!" Kalena said, relieved that Rhydion was receiving positive responses from Aikori, Hikari, and Dusk. She returned Dusk's hand squeeze, with a reassuing, older-sisterly one of her own. Hearing Aikori's suggestion of playtime in the park, her heart rejoiced. Rhydion was so full of energy, but her life could stand to be shook up a little bit.
"What a wonderful idea, Aikori! I am certain Rhydion would love it!" She smiled happily. "Are you sure you don't mind? Please bring your friends, too. I am sure Rhydion would love to make more friends." Rhydion "PIRATES! Really, Mr. Aikori?! Can we mum? You'll be great!" Rhydion exclaimed walking with Hikari. "She tells the best stories!! Mum's the most fearsome pirate in the entire ocean!"
Rhydion's wings flapped happily as they walked. Small black and magenta feathers offset his bright magenta skin and pale pink hair. He was thrilled. First day out of his lanturn and he not only saw Dusk again, but made two new friends with Aikori and Hikari... and they were going to play PIRATES! Hikari Hikari was happy to meet the new lanturn. She felt a little left out as she was the only girl. She wanted to fit in so badly. "Could I be a...a british soldier? I mean you do need people to steal gold from right?" She tried to think of those stories. "I could paint gold piece and hats and stuff..." She had been rude to Kalena, "Thank you so much for inviting me and the others! I apologize for any trouble this was..." she bowed quickly. Aikori "Pirates in the park it is then!" Aikori grinned, stuffing his hands into his pockets. He looked up at the women and smiled bright, shaking his head a bit. "Nope I don't mind at all! Maybe Gokiloud will come and play too" He said softly, flushing at the mention of the other lanturns name.
Rubbing the side of his arm, he switched his thoughts over to Hikari, a smile on his face. "Yeah, that would be cool! This will be so much fun!" He smiled softly at her then looked forward again.Kalena & Rhydion Kalena "Is Gokiloud a manifested soul like you, Aikori?" Kalena asked, glancing over her shoulder to check up on Rhydion. All the chatter of pirates and story telling, made her realize that she might need to cut back on the fiction stories just a little bit in the future. Meeting all these new people was good not only for Rhydion, but for her as well. It took her mind off of work and the school play. She could relax and just be Kalena with the group.
"Hikari, that sounds like a brilliant idea! Props are essential when it comes to imagination games like pirates!" she said with a wink. Rhydion Rhydion was in heaven. Aikori was totally cool. Hikari was really kind. Even Dusk was joining them for ice cream. Running up to Kalena, he grabbed her by the coat pocket. His feathers tickled her hand as he beat his wings excitedly. "Let's go, Mum. They'll run out of ice cream before we get there!!" Notes 0. Status: Open (Paused 08-Feb-06 @15:20JST) 1. This was in celebration of Rhydion's manifestation!!

Kalena & Rhydion (KaleidoscopeGrl) "Come on, Mum, let's go-go-go!!" Rhydion cheered, swinging Kalena's arm. She promised him another outing in the hopes of meeting new people, so he was determined to make sure he made new friends today. He ruffled his cotton candy pink hair with excitment. He liked the way it stuck up in places naturally. His little legs walked fast as he attempted to drag Kalena faster. "I'm a bit tired, Rhyd. Slow down or I'm going to drop," Kalena said wearily, ruffling Rhydion's pink hair. She was so tired from working overtime the only thing she could think about was how jealous she was of the natural volume and spunk of her pink lanturn's hair. "We're almost there, Kiddo. Slow down!"
