"Use your Pokedex to scan it," Prof. Rowan said, "It'll give you a brief summary on a Pokemon."

Riolu appeared with a flash and adopted at fighting stance as it squared up to the Turtwig. "Alright then," Link said, "Riolu, Quick attack!" Riolu vanished in a split second and slammed into Turtwig with a quick tackle.

"Indeed it is," Rowan said to Xion as he continued to watch Link's Riolu and the wild Turtwig's battle.

Turtwig retaliated Riolu's attack with a tackle sending Riolu sliding through the grass. "Hmmm..." Link said, "It seems to have a lot of power despite its size. Alright, Riolu, wait for its next move." Riolu nodded and seemed to go into a meditative pose. Turtwig rushed at Riolu and lunged with another tackle. "Now! Counter!" Link said with Riolu reacting in perfect sync. Riolu grabbed Turtwig and with its momentum slammed it into the ground hard. The Turtwig attempt to stand up but fell back down out of weakness. Link smirked as he pulled out a Friend Ball. "Alright then," he said, "Go!" He threw the Friend Ball at the Turtwig, hitting it, and it disappeared with a flash. The Friend Ball began to rock back and forth, with Link looking on.

"I haven't caught it yet," Link said to Xion as he watched the ball continue to rock back and forth a few times.

Link smiles as the Friend Ball stops rocking and pings. "It's a Friend Ball," he said walking over to it and picking it up, "And now I've caught it."

Rowan nodded. "That was a good show of skill," he said, "No wonder Prof. Elm speaks so highly of you. And plus you've caught a Pokemon rarely seen in the wild, that makes it even more impressive."

"Thanks," Link said. Riolu growled happy as it jumped through the grass.

Rowan looked up at the sky and saw that the sun had begun to descend towards the trees. "Well," he said, "I suppose I should be letting you two get a move on. I hope you can reach Jubilife by night."

Rowan looked at Xion. "Hmmm..." he said, "I guess you're right, but it still probably time that you two need to get going."

Link nodded. "Having enough gear for a Pokemon journey is a good thing," he said with a smirk, "I remember when I left home I forgot a lot of things."

Rowan turned to Link. "So I guess you'll be accompanying Xion for a while?" he asked.

Link nodded. "I guess I could," he said, before turning to Xion, "If that's okay with her."

Rowan nodded. "Well then," he said, "I suppose we'll met again some time down the road. Good luck to the both of you." Rowan turned to leave and headed back to Sandgem and his lab.

Link turned to Xion. "I suppose you'll have to lead the way," he said, "I don't know where you live."

Xion turned back and looked back at Link. "Are you coming?" she asked.

"Ah," Xion said with a giggle, "Mespirit's teasing you too, huh?"
