"I would surely hope this duty would be considered important for all of us, Captain."

Her tone was dry, but the sarcasm left as soon as it had arrived, "As I stated before, yes. Once the White Moon and our enemies have been dealt with, I wish for nothing more than for Earth to be restored to its former state, before the Moon Kingdom's meddling. You have my assurance."

Nose scrunching slightly, she shook her head once more, "And slaughtering...slaughtering is such an unbecoming term. We are not barbarians. We are a resistance doing what we must to regain a kingdom that has been threatened by outside forces. By unwanted and unwelcomed forces."

A second pale hand rose from the quiet audience and Beryl welcomed it accordingly. "Sailor Hel?"

It had been another ho-hum day with Rohan before the interruption. She had made it a task to try and clean up some of the books he kept laying all around the apartment. It was a daunting task once one realized just how many books he had, especially the older ones that dear god reeked of mold almost. So it was almost a relief to get away from the mess when she suddenly found herself in uniform among the Negaverse agents. Almost all as one the dropped to their knee's and Hel was not far behind in falling into order going as far as to remove the hood from her head.

Questions rolled by and faces were noted as she glanced about, from a strange armed girl to a boy with a hole in his chest just like her, and a shorter looking fellow with bangs covering his face. She paused at Gabriel frowning slightly before moving over the blue head girl speaking before her.

Finally she was called on by their queen as her pale hand lowered into her lap. "M'lady it's an honor to know you accept our aid and welcome us as part of your kingdom." She paused for a moment, by us she meant the other Senshi, how many they had among them she wasn't sure but it was still nice to know they were welcomed by the Queen. "However what do you wish of us? We aren't... exactly like the rest of the others here. Do we know if the ones who attacked the other Negaverse Senshi are asleep as well or still trying to track us down now during the confusion?"

"You will fight alongside the other officers, as is expected, Hel. The senshi who are recruited for the Negaverse are different from the Lieutenants...but isn't each Lieutenant different from one another as well? Your weapon is your magic while their weapon may need more time to develop - or perhaps their weapon is their intelligence, or their physical abilities? Different, yes, but it is difference that gives us the advantage in the end."

She smiled and motioned to Spinel, "There is a use for each of you among us, which is why you have been assigned an officer to assist you. I have the utmost faith that neither of you will disappoint me - both of you are far too loyal for that sort of disrespect, right?"

As Hel nodded enthusiastically in return, the monarch's hand moved once more, landing in the direction of the short blue-haired lieutenant.

"Zinkenite?"

He took a step forward, better to be seen among the rest of the officers, he was shorter after all even than Wolframite.
He nodded his head in polite deference, a sort of small bow to show respect for someone whom was clearly so powerful. After all, he had never before this been snatched in such a manner.

"If I may ask, since you encouraged boldness before... My Lady, if we seek true peace, and we are at war with the Senshi alone... to what end do we collect the star seeds, the life of ordinary humans? To what... loftier goal, does this energy find itself put towards. Surely we would each serve you better if we knew a little more about the purpose it serves?"
He tilted his head slightly, almost birdlike, almost innocent but for the piercing eyes that, while his head was lowered still dared glace up at her if nervously, from under his brows.

"It would indeed make more sense if you knew, wouldn't it?"

She tilted her head to mimic his movement. "It disappoints me that this information has been kept from you. I will assume that this is why so few star seeds are turned in, as opposed to believing that the hand-picked few General-King Charonite chose for my army are intentionally slacking from one of their more important duties."

Silence filled the room as more glances were exchanged. A single hand outstretched itself and Zinkenite stared at it blankly.

"Star seeds, please, Lieutenant."

His face reddened and he began to scramble to search his pockets. Out came two seeds, both gingerly planted in the palm of her hand. She glanced at them, frowned, then looked towards the remaining officers.

"Tell me there are more among you."

Hands flew to rummage through attire as both Captain and Lieutenant quickly searched for the small crystals to appease their Queen. Soon enough, several more were resting in her hand, resulting in her frown turning upwards before she continued.

"As I said before, there is a power beyond our comprehension that exists in this world. This power, Chaos, is what fuels the Negaverse. It is responsible for giving you the power you have, it is responsible for my soul being able to survive for as long as it has."

Both hands cupped the star seeds as she took a step back. Within moments, her hands began to glow as power channeled itself through the crystals.

"The star seeds have a life source within them that can be used to our advantage. Their power, fused with Chaos, can assist in creating an army to support our army. We must do whatever it takes to defend our Kingdom - all resources must be used. They must have a purpose."

The glowing became brighter now, almost fire-like. Her hands opened themselves and instead of a cluster of star seeds, an orb of light now floated between both hands. Lifting them up, she held both high above her head as her eyes closed.

The aura of energy in the room was growing stronger, adding an almost static effect in the air as lieutenants noticed their hair begin to rise. The Queen had finished speaking - her focus was now on channeling the energy hovering above her head. The bright light soon began to fade, replaced by darkness, which grew larger and larger with each passing moment. The darkness turned to shadows and began to twist and mutate itself.

No one was certain of what was going on, not until bright eyes appeared from the center of the smoke, followed by two long, terrifying horns. A lieutenant let out a small cry as the face began to shape itself from the darkness, jagged fangs dripping with shadowy smoke to reveal a toothy smile for all to see.

It was only as her hands lowered that the creature finished forming, its massive body nearly twice the size of its maker. The monster towered behind her, amber eyes glowing as it stared back at the lieutenants watching it.

The creature's head moved to hover over the Queen's shoulder and her hand lifted to caress the side of the monster's jaw. Its skin looked scaly and rough but the pale hand that touched it didn't seem to mind.

"Mistressssssssssssss."

A younger Lieutenant jerked back as the creature spoke, the voice a terrifying hiss. The long, serpent-like tail of the beast coiled around its creator's legs protectively, but it said nothing more.

The Queen, however, ignored both the uncertainty of her officers the and the monster that addressed her. Her focus remained on the meeting at hand.

"Your weapons grow as you do, but it is absurd to force you to work with objects alone. Not when the senshi will use whatever magic they have to take you down. We have magic at our disposal and we shall use it accordingly. As long as there are star seeds, there will be youma to fight by your side, fight on your behalf, fight for your defense."

The creature beside her shifted and made a noise. Her hand moved to rub the top of its head, much like a person would to a beloved pet. The youma, the lieutenants would soon to learn, were Beryl's beloved pets.

"Destiny City has been overtaken by this illness, but this strange magic is not the only thing that will be overtaking the city."

Moving forward, the creature followed its Queen - several officers inched backwards at this. "No. Each of you will take a youma and you will assist in overtaking this city. This is our moment to strike, this is our moment to take what is ours. You have two responsibilities to uphold: you will kill the senshi and you will collect star seeds. Without star seeds, there will be no youma. Without senshi, there will be no need for youma. See how it works?"

Her hands clapped together eagerly and she smiled, pulling them up to her chest as she beamed towards her minions, ignoring the drool of smoke pouring down onto her shoulder from above.

"Now, are there any last questions, before you are dismissed with your orders?"

For the first few minutes of that all important meeting, Bixbyite was silently thanking whatever debased gods that watched over Lieutenants of the Negaverse. Otherwise, she would have appeared in the middle of that hall stark naked and dripping wet from her bath. Fortunately, the magic that had dragged her from her well-deserved date with hot water had had enough left over to clothe her in her uniform.

And then embarrassment was shoved rudely to the side by awe. Bixbyite had never seen her Queen before. Sure, she’d seen Nealite plenty of times and she knew intellectually that Nealite housed Beryl. But this was the first time that that knowledge went from the abstract to cold, terrifying fact. Power poured from Beryl, pulsing palpably. And Bixbyite did not miss the blood on her Queen’s hand, nor the bloody and wounded form of Captain Tanzanite. The petite Lieutenant shivered and simply listened to her Queen’s words. For every question asked, every answer given, Bixbyite nodded slightly as one filing away important information. And with every breath, the beginnings of fanatical adoration began to burn and glow within her bright blue-green eyes. And Beryl was carrying an Heir! Almost immediately, Bixbyite set aside a tiny corner of her mind for the sole purpose of making pretty things for the Mother-to-Be and Baby. But… she’d give them to Nealite. Somehow, it was easier to see herself approaching Nealite and giving gifts. She couldn’t see herself bringing Beryl anything outside of star seeds or severed senshi heads.

And when the command came to give up any hidden star seeds, she was quick to rifle through her uniform and give over the one she carried. Watching intently, she bit back a startled yelp as the enormous youma began to coalesce behind the Queen. Then, fear rooted her to the spot. Fear of the youma, of Beryl, of what Beryl could DO. Hells, the monster following their Queen made Garbdis look like a tamed puppy. And the Queen was going to assign each of them something like this? How could that even be possible…?

After a moment’s hesitation, Bixbyite raised her hand, willing its trembling to stop and not shame her before the Queen. The glow of devotion was still in her eyes and her soft voice practically rang with worship.

“M..My Queen,” she stammered, keeping her eyes demurely down. “I beg your pardon, but I was told once by Captain Nealite that the youma would not answer to any rank below that of Captain. I do not wish to appear disobedient, but how can we each take a youma if the youma won’t listen to us?”

Question asked, Bixbyite finally dared to raise her eyes to her Queen, shaking and hoping that her question would not single her out for punishment.

While the officers continued their staring contest, the Queen seemed indifferent to the giant monster towering behind her. Dark orange eyes fell upon the quivering girl, but her expression never changed as she stared directly at Bixbyite.

"Your Captain was correct when she told you that. Traditionally, the youma of the Negaverse only obey those of higher authority, but while tradition should be respected, there comes a point in time when that tradition is forced to be broken. Desperate times call for desperate measures, Lieutenant, and while the Captains will continue to have their own personal youma that Charonite saw fit to give them, I see fit that you all are equipped with similar arsenal. You'll need it, against the senshi."

The monster's head jerked as a Lieutenant fumbled on one leg, his knee obviously having fallen asleep during the length of time he'd remained kneeling. As the youma growled and the Lieutenant froze, wide-eyed, Beryl's hand simply moved up to stroke the creature's head, settling it back down immediately.

"Each youma is linked to their creator due to the personal energy invested into its making and all youma will obey my command. I will know when one of your monsters is destroyed and I will demand to know the cause of your failure. Do not waste your star seeds and do not waste my time. I am placing my faith in each of you to carry out your duties - I simply refuse to be disappointed in any of you."

The sweetness of her voice had all but disappeared into sternness. "To summon your youma, focus your energy on the youma's name. Once called, it will come to your aid from the subspace. Misuse this privilege and you will lose more than your ability to summon youma."

As the threat hovered silently in the air, her hand massaged the monster's forehead as she continued, "Lieutenant Uranophane will contact each of you with the name of a youma that will be assigned to you. Should you fail and require another, you will report to her for a new one. You will continue to bring your star seeds to me, however." Eyes fell back upon the manly young woman and she nodded her head. "Lieutenant, I will discuss this further with you at a later point in time."

It seemed an appropriate time to close a meeting, but yet another hand rose with yet another question, much to the chagrin of many a kneeling kneecap.

"Yes, Spinel?"

All Paul asked for was peace and quiet in which to write. His single room usually provided this, and it would have provided it as usual had Gabriel O’Leary not intervened. More and more, especially since being assigned as Gabe’s partner, he had found less time for himself. But he was growing accustomed enough to writing what he was thinking while making assenting noises at the right time that Gabe seemed not to mind. And it might have gone on that way, except there was an odd jerking feeling and then they were kneeling in the Negaverse subspace, Spinel’s hand still curled around a pen that was no longer there.

He had underestimated the Queen’s sheer charisma. The dark-haired senshi stared up at her; it was more than physical presence, more than beauty, it was an almost palpable dark energy that sent shivers up his spine. The bells on the toes of his shoes jingled as he shifted in place, watching her speak. Her words weren’t quite irrelevant; he just didn’t quite have the luxury of giving them the attention they were due at the moment. It would be something he considered very deeply after the meeting, but for now he stored the words in the back of his mind.

The first few questions skimmed over his head, barely imprinting on his consciousness as he considered: How’d he end up here? Oh, he could theoretically teleport into this space, but that didn’t exactly fall right into place with being pulled from his dorm room in his human form, to the Negaverse sub-space as Spinel. Well. More thoughts for later; he tuned in to hear Beryl’s warning about Wiseman. Choosing his own method of suicide did not sound exactly appealing. He would have to avoid any wizards--and talk to this Wolframite about the man’s appearance.

Then was Graphite’s question, and Spinel hunched over a little bit, trying to make himself a little less obvious. It was the sort of thing that he wanted to know, but didn’t dare ask; would his loyalty be rewarded? Or--but the Queen’s answer made him flush dully around the collar. Of course they wouldn’t repay loyalty with scorn. That was more of a senshi trait, as the Queen said. And then he tuned out again, a good bit relieved as she moved on to a Lieutenant Kremersite. There was, he noted as the conversation continued, another corrupted sailor--Hell? Sailor Hell? That didn’t sound like a celestial body or a mineral. He’d have to look it up, maybe it was a nickname for something. In the meantime, why was she speaking as a leader of the senshi? Was there a leader? He picked up his head long enough to search out Vivianite’s pink hair.

He ducked his head back down after, though, as other Lieutenants brought up starseeds. The dark-haired senshi turned in his starseeds every evening, and so had none now. Queen Beryl’s display of power--the creation of the youma--was met with awe. That was why he would be loyal to the Queen, forever. But her announcement after brought a quirk of one eyebrow. Youma? They were to be assigned youma, all of them? As Lieutenant Bixbyite finished her question, Spinel’s hand inched upwards.

“Your Majesty, my question parallels Lieutenant Bixbyite’s, after a fashion. Senshi seem to occupy a different place in your army: Are we to be included in this as well?”

"If that is what it takes for you to kill the senshi, Spinel, then yes, you may use a youma to assist you as well."

She paused, removing her hand from the youma beside her as her fingers entwined themselves together.

"Though it would be very unfortunate for a sailor senshi not to be able to take down a former comrade on their own."

The silence lingered in the air and no more hands were raised. Then, at long last, her hands waved with her dismissal. "And with that, I leave you all with your orders. Uranophane will contact you shortly with your youma." Her head turned, her focus now on the creature beside her. "Sertarius. You will keep an eye on those still asleep. I want a report should any of their statuses change."

No one had time to question how a gigantic youma would be capable of sneaking around a hospital before her hands waved once more, removing them from her sight instantly. They were immediately returned to their former activities, the dark youma vanishing as well to perform its ordered task.

She stood there for several minutes still, staring out into the emptiness of the foyer to the subspace. Then, one hand rising to press fingertips against a throbbing forehead, she turned around and made her way once more to her throne.

Taking her seat, her hand continued to massage the oncoming headache as she cursed silently underneath her breath. "Mortalitas, if you've collected nothing but incompetent children..."

"Does my Queen truly expect children to be able to carry out the jobs of General Kings and Queens?"

Eyes shifted and a hand moved out and away from the arm of the throne. Within moments, a shaggy dark muzzle found its way beneath her slender hand, the giant dog-like creature moving its head to accept its Queen's affections.

"Canis. Report."

The creature sunk to the ground at that, its ears flattening as only an ashamed dog's could. Its low voice rumbled as it returned, "The Wizard is still missing. I've searched from East to West, but I sensed no power. Not even the power of his Princess."

The Queen's eyes closed and the creature sunk even lower towards the ground, as though fearful of causing an unwanted reaction. But, to its great relief, she merely sighed.

"Children are all I have to use, for the moment. They suit my needs. When I am in need of General Kings and Queens, I will have them. Until then, I am satisfied with my Lieutenants and Captains."

"And what of Charonite, if he returns?"

Eyes narrowed, her jaw tightening.

"That's enough, Canis."

"But Mistr-"

The hand shot out before the creature could finish its statement. Pale fingers reached deep within the monster's side and green eyes widened as it felt its creator's hand wrap around its darkened star seed.

"I said that was enough, Canis."

Without allowing it so much as a gasp, the Queen pulled, yanking the crystal from within the beast's chest. Releasing one last mournful whimper, the black fur was quick to dissolve into ash, along with the remains of what was once an obedient youma to the Queen.

Manicured fingers lifted the cold stone up and she stared at it for a brief, single moment. Then, rising from the throne, what was once a youma's star seed was carelessly tossed across the marble ground as Beryl faded into the shadows of the Negaverse subspace, ostensibly to begin the creation of a new, darker force for her army.
