Where the stallion sweat, Zyanya's cool was far from being breached. When he pushed harder, so did she, and without mercy, her pace continued to pick up, hooves pounding the dirt, eyes never leaving the body of water that she was going to leap into, head low and wind tearing past her thin form as she took the lead from him, and steadily closed in on the river, readying herself for cold waters.

Their hooves pounded the earth sending up small puffs of dirt and dust. As they neared the river, she had gained the lead. He didn't give up though. He kept fighting to take the lead again, right up until he saw her splash into the rushing waters, followed closely by him.
The cold water hit him, taking his breath as he was already taking huge gulps of air while his heart raced. He took a moment to catch his breath and calm down.
Humiliated, he was no longer in the mood for friendly chit chat with this mare. He let his hair cover his eyes, and kept his head bent and looking away from her he said in a cold voice. "Good race, even though, you know, I let you win." He got out of the water, and stood on the shore, dripping. He shook himself to rid himself of the water, but it still clung to him, making his body shake with the chill.
((I think this was what we had thought out...that he would say he had let her win, when of course, they both knew better, he just hated to have his poor ego bruised.))

Zyanya plunged herself into the river waters as she won their race, steadily kicking her legs to resurface, and climbing from the cool blue waves she had made. Her speed came with a large drawback of being unable to stop as quick as she liked, and being used to stopping on ice and snow, the drawback had caused her to jump into the waters, rather than run into them. Hence was how Zaine was at the water's edge, and Zyanya had been submerged in the river only moments before she kicked herself back up. She found ground with her hooves and steadily stepped on shore, her formerly wild mane and tail now slick with water, shiny in the sunlight. She listened to the stallion, easily finding the chill in his voice and his posture gave away his humiliation and lie easily. Still, it was none of Zyanya's business to disturb his nature.
"Good race it was. Your chivalry is admired, however a full effort is what brings out a commendable victory, and an honourable loss." With that, she too shook away the water that clung to her coat and mane, for a moment, her hair falling out of place to show her nearly blind eye, before once more it was hidden beneath silver. "Drying off would be the best idea for both of us now though." She murmured, with only both their best health at interest.

He huffed, sending a spray of water droplets out from him in a mist. "I didn't want to make you feel bad, you know, it was the gentlemanly thing to do." he said, hoping to soothe the last bit of pride he had left. "But anyway, you're right. I wouldn't want you to get sick from my stupid challenge. Maybe it's best we head home and get warm. I trust you can find your way?" he said, the humiliation still lingering in his voice.

"A loss is a loss. There is no reason for remorse. Thank you however, for having considered my feelings." She stated simply, before shaking out her mane alittle more and blinking abit as he talks. She could still hear the humiliation, but she pushed it aside as of now. "Home is a variable place to me. I wish you a safe journey back to yours however. Thank you for your guidance till now." She told him, bowing her head and looking down the river abit, deciding her direction. "Perhaps we shall meet again."

He nodded to her, agreeing that she was right, but unwilling to say it aloud. He watched as she shook out her mane again and sighed. "Even now your beauty astounds me. I would hope that we could meet again someday, maybe even have a rematch, but not in the water." he said with a chuckle. "I wish you the same." He waited for her to decide which way she would be going, and turned to take his own path home. In his mind he played the race over again, wondering how such a pretty little mare had bested him. He would just have to practice, and find others to challenge, but not today. He couldn't stand anymore blows to his ego for one day. [FIN]
