Linarite's blood was undergoing several changes rapidly. It boiled, froze, warmed again. Up and down as she variegated between anger and mild horror at the Disastrous Duo, as she'd nicknamed them. Apparently she had no idea how disastrous, and would now be forced to rectify their problems. Probably with leashes. Very short leashes. Fingers ran through blue curls and agitated eyes all but glared at the vertically challenged Zinkenite.
"Nemeses are fine as long as you keep things in perspective. Ask Captain Obsidian about his lovely girlfriend Nerissa sometime, if you haven't already heard those stories. Captain Hematite has similar feelings, and the Queen's opinions on Sailor Castor are positively heartwarming." Her tone was dry as the desert and unamused. "Something you need to consider, Number One, is that you and he are on even footing. I understand that you may be accustomed to him listening to you, but that may be that he was simply humoring you to be near. Friends do that for other friends, I know this for a fact. But you are both lieutenants, and he is not honor-bound to respond to your commands." She paused here, leaning back against the stone, gaze not leaving Z.
"I think you best tell me what happened to your cousin as well. I have a feeling that I will have to have a long talk with you both separately, starting with you, but I need to know all the facts first. It seems you've both been lax in your reporting, and I'm about to rectify that." How the hell did things get so out of control, so fast? Was it because she wasn't harsh on them, as the others were? Was that really what it took? Desperately, Lina hoped not. There was only so much the poor girl had in her!

Zink stood a little straighter and tried to meet her gaze evenly, it was hard, the first person 'over' him he honestly respected in some time.
"He is not, mam, keeping in-perspective, He could prove a liability if he dose not learn to moderate his... obsession." He chose his words carefully and seriously and then with a glance around shifted back to civis and pulled a notebook from under his hoodie, flipped it open and handed it back before another look around and changing back.
"My notes, the ones pertaining to the senshi, with one page concerning scheelite." He said... they were, indecipherable.
"I had assumed, incorrectly, that you must have known his intent regarding...my mother." He said carefully.
"It was... In part through her actions and hostility and, his follow up that I was recruited at all I believe, given that I am NOT of any physical prowess and my... methods of gathering information have been kept secret from everyone BUT Scheelite. It...was also my understanding that I was, to try and make him more effective, I do not know if I have"
"In his... enthusiastic efforts to eliminate my Mother, he killed my Cousin's mother, who was her twin."

Killed family?! Wasn't there some rule that they told everyone, as soon as they came into the organization, that family were sacrosanct?! Amber eyes were incredulous and staring first down at the paper, littered with indecipherable letters and numbers, then back up to Zinkenite.
"No, I was unaware. While I am in charge of you, and police you all to the best of my ability, I am sadly not as omniscient as our esteemed rulers. I only know what I am informed of, and until now I'd never even heard of this!" Placing the pad of paper down on the stone wall next to her, Linarite reached out and touched the young man's shoulder with a light and caring hand. "And you still are with him? I hate to pry into family matters, but this involves me now. Is this likely to happen again? If it's known that...your mother, whoever she is, is a target of the Negaverse? Identities can come into question then. Your cover might be blown." Fingers ran through blue curls and fisted at her scalp, tugging lightly before she let out a low breath.
What in the world was she supposed to do with this? Information was never exactly forthcoming from the top, and Nealite had thrown this group together for the teenage girl to muddle through as well as her intellect could aid her. Lina was, of course, a fairly bright girl. But she wasn't perfect! "I am thinking that perhaps I'm going to have to work very closely with you both from now on." Sometimes, the Captain missed her freedom.

He closed his eyes for a moment shoulders wire tense with frustration and dug his fingernails hard into his palms leaving pink cresents of frustration.
"I know that, I had -words- with him, I've told him not to TOUCH her for all the good it may do if he gets it into his HEAD again. He killed one of the only two tolerable relatives I -have- and now my cousin has to live with my insufferable mother. If I didn't stay at the Hillworth dorms my time available and unquestioned would be severely compromised. "I told him we couldn't touch her OR my father for just that reason... I didn't know he'd even done it till he came back to the room bragging and ...MINUTES later I got a Call from Beth... her HOUSE got burned down in this mess... its a damned miracle it didn't turn into a bigger mess than it did and..."
He grimaced, baring his teeth for a moment as he fought to mash back down the emotions he'd kept in check all this time. He cared for Demy, he couldn't help it or rationalize it... but his poor Aunt... poor Beth. Double damn it and the hell he'd felt in the emotional ringer torn between broken ribbed wheezing Dem in the room and Beth in shock and confused and waiting with nothing left to her name but a photo album.
"Worthless... I am absolutely WORTHLESS at trying to get through to him... " he snapped suddenly. Of anyone he was critical of, when he turned the search for flaws to himself he was perhaps, the hardest.

Light hands turned firm and the petite bluenette grasped the shorter boy by the shoulders and shook him lightly before speaking very firmly in the most authoritative voice she could summon. "Listen to me, this is not your job. It's your job to tell myself, or the other Captains, or the General King. Hell, you should have told Ursula." Linarite paused then, and shook him again to make him look up at her.
"Did you tell anyone? This is an incredible breach in..in..in what we do!" Deep inside Linarite was troubled and more than a little concerned for the Lieutenant that was under her command. "How long ago was this? I mean...was this before or after you were put under me? The queen does not accept this sort of thing." That was a lie, though she didn't know it. The queen didn't give a damn who died and who didn't die, as long as their identities were intact. If you lost your human shell's protection, it was over. But again, Linarite did not know this.
Linarite did not care. To her, it was gospel truth.
"We'll get through to him, one way or another. He has to stop this, or things will be out of control, and he'll die. I doubt very much that he is crazy enough to want to die, and if he does...then we'll just have to help him along." It was one of the few things that had been drilled into every single one of them - discovery was death. Audrey's own parents flashed before her eyes, and she felt the need to rush home and hug them. Then, make sure to beat into Scheelite the idea that her family was off-limits.
It wasn't something that Zinkenite would ever need to hear.

"No one...." He said almost to quiet to hear, every bit the young man he was outside of uniform, the one he hated to show. His mouth was a thin line, chewing hard on the edge of his lip and wondering deeply if he'd regret what he said.
"I didn't want them to kill him for being... He just... Captain.... I'm."
He didn't want to say 'scared of him sometimes', but those times when he went 'Mister Hyde' when there was nothing there that didn't seem to 'recognize' him the same way that 'normal' Dem or scheelite did. The same one who pinned him to the wall just recently and pushed fingers into his chest again. It was enough to make a small tremble in his shoulders even when she gripped him.
"I'm worried..."

Chewing her own lip, wondering what happened and why she had to be the adult, Linarite's mind took a sharp turn into the thought processes usually reserved for Audrey Collins. There wasn't a whole lot of room in the mind of the Captain for such soft feelings, so when arms slid to hug Zinkenite for a moment, it was a very human feeling.
It wasn't a long hug, just enough to stop the shaking and let Lina gather her thoughts and bottle her rampaging emotions. Panic, anger, sadness, worry, all useless. They all needed to go away, and return clarified logic in their place. It made sense that she would have two things to do immediately, and there was a choice to be made. There was admitting that she could not handle the task assigned to her by running to the General-King and the Queen with this little problem with Scheelite.
The other option was to sit on him so hard that he squealed like the hyperactive little fuzzy rodent he was, until he learned what was, and was not acceptable. Killing those related to Negaverse agents was not. Hands took Zinkenite's shoulders again, and the grim mouth of Captain Linarite moved into a lopsided smile. "Don't worry. You did a good thing, and we'll try and help him before anything drastic." The lopsided smile turned into a wide grin. "He won't like it, but then, I never quite liked taking orders from Nealite. Still don't, tell the truth." A light clap, and she picked up the pad again.
Serenity had returned to her mind, there was a clear path. Now to pump the kid for information. "What do you think would be the best course of action, Lieutenant? You'll be in my shoes soon enough, I think, and I would hate to have you unprepared." She certainly ******** had been!

The huge did make him stop shaking, it also made him tense like he'd just been ironed and over starched. Maybe he was just like that when anyone touched him, lord only knew that same kind of reaction was clear when Scheelite hugged him in the taco shop too, though he mumbled something that sounded like an uncertain apology even as stiff as he was. He blinked at her owl eyed when she asked what he thought would be best. He hadn't expected to be handed back any kind of.. control even if it was only an opinion. What DID he think would be best.
He shook his head frustrated with the broken chain of thoughts his own surprising disorganization when it came to Scheelite had left him. How had he let himself be so disorganized? "M... Make him work with the team more? Get him used to working with others rather than flying solo with no planning or research?" He hazarded with such a tone that implied he fully expected to be told it was a foolish idea.

Encouragingly, Linarite nodded and smiled. "See? Easy solution to a growing problem. We'll just have to have a little talk with our glowbug of a lieutenant, and then sit on him like the squishy person we know he is." Ankles crossed and the metal there clinked lightly as she rhythmically tapped them together while thinking. "So here's a question for you, how do you feel about Risk? I think it couldn't hurt to start forcing us all to spend a little more time together outside of ah...work things." Blue curls were twisted around her finger as she thought, diverting her energy into something a little more constructive.
"That way we can have a bit of fun, but at the same time solidify a bit more. Teach everyone how to think outside the box in strategy. Of course I'll constantly win and wipe the floor with the lot of you...but that's part of the fun." Crinkles at the corner of Lina's eyes matched the wide smile and her mood hopped straight up at the idea of winning.
"Sound good?"

"I um... I've never actually played it?" He said waiting for the shocked or horrified expression that normally followed when he admitted he hadn't done something. Half the time they were teasing but whenever something slotted neatly into 'pop culture' sometimes the expressions seemed more 'real'. "I play chess?" He offered hopeful, though he doubted very much that Demy had played that, Risk -maybe- but he really didn't know what kind of board games Demy had played with his apparently near perfect family.
