Before Wahadi could roll over and get back in the fight, Kame fell upon him with full, brute force. Air and spit flew from Wahadi's mouth. He crumpled and curled in on himself with his tail between his legs. He felt as if a hippo had sat on his chest. Every time he breathed in - and he could barely breathe in - his lungs exploded in pain. Even if he commanded his body to move his muscles would have refused him.
Helpless, partially blinded by tears and dizziness, Wahadi glowered at Kame from the ground. He wanted to lash out and snap at his ankles, but his body would not let him. Why was it so hard simply to breathe? Wahadi had never been hurt like this before.
Wahadi wondered, will I ever recover? He banished the thought from his mind. There was no point in thinking that way. He tried to hiss at Kame but all that came out was a wheeze.

Kame watched Wahadi wither in pain for several moments, making sure the boy was not too damaged. When he felt satisfied that Wahadi would recover as soon as he managed to slip far enough away.
"Do not start fights you cannot finish. It puts your friends in more danger than you realize," Kame said to Wahadi, his tone matter-of-factly, and not menacingly.
Kame turned from Wahadi and walked off in the direction from whence he came. Off in the horizon Kame met back up with two others, both lionesses. They exchanged words quickly, and one looked saddened as the three walked off into the horizon looking for others.

Wahadi tried to hiss at his foe but nothing came. As Kame trotted off Wahadi closed his eyes and bared his teeth at the world as his tail curled in pain. He wailed at himself internally: Damnit, I should have finished it! I wanted to finish it!
Where had he failed? Would the outcome have been different if he dodged a little faster? Maybe his first attack should have been better planned. He thought passion alone would carry him through this battle as it had in the past, when he scuffed with other cubs in the swamp.
Sooner or later he would have to come to terms with the harsh reality of the rogue lands. The savannah was not the swamp and these rogues were not the lions he fought as a cub. He would have to be wiser, faster and stronger to win a battle with an experienced rogue. For the time being, he could not accept that. The problem had to lie with him. That was the only way he could see it.
After a while air returned to his lungs. He pushed himself up on shaking limbs and looked around. Kame was no where in sight. Humiliated and hurting, Wahadi lifted his head and roared.
