Oh that whimper was like music to her ears. She seemed to have crushed his spirits beyond repair now, her job was done. Now she could either leave him here sulking or add something else to the mix. Anything else she could say would likely have less of an effect on him than her previous news, so while his reaction wouldn't be as satisfying she couldn't let any opportunity pass her by. "Probably for the best that she didn't have her pups here, or else we would be horribly overrun by useless slaves." Crossing her front paws she glanced upon the sulking patchy slave. "And we have far too many of those already."

He paused, glancing up at her with furrowed brow. "...Slaves..." He echoed, his voice low; the terrifying possibilities in his mind swirled and solidified and settled like a rock in his gut. "Oh." He was both relieved and made miserable by this realization. "Sons...she had...mostly sons?"

Thealia couldn't help but laugh, both at his sudden change voice and his question about his sisters litter. "Mostly sons?" She said as her laughter died down. "Are you that dense Iosef? She did not have mostly sons, she had all sons. Five from what I remember." Giving her head a shake Thealia just just imagine what Terreis' reaction had been when she had discovered no females in her litter. It was surprising that she hadn't just drown then right then and there, of course given her softness for Iosef she may have spared them for some reason or another. "I believe she is having quite a hard time taking care of them. After all it is hard to raise pups that you do not care for."

"All...sons," he echoed, feeling like an idiot, but too dumbfounded to say anything else. He forgot for a moment what he was supposed to be doing, and stared at his paws, feeling conflicting emotions chase each other through his brain. There were so many things he wanted to say, and none of them would be appropriate to address to his superior. "...Poor Terreis." He said finally, in a defeated whimper.

"Poor Terreis indeed." Thealia snorted. It was no secret that females from Antianeira were expected to produce at least one daughter in a litter, and the more daughters one produced the more respect and honor they got. However Terreis had failed at that miserably. In fact Thealia had come close to feeling that shame herself with her own litter had it not been for her precious Azalea. Now if only the queen would pay more attention to her instead of that little whelp Glacier. Something needed to be done about that and soon.
Giving her head a shake she focused back on Iosef suddenly realizing that he wasn't working. That would not do. Bad news or not one did not let that interrupt them from their duties. "Don't you have a job to be doing Iosef? And where is that little blue whelp, he should be attending to his duties as well." Standing Thealia stretched out her muscles. "Really must us sisters have to waste our time making sure you two get your jobs done. We have better things to do you know." Turning she began to pad away, though it was unclear whether she was going to look for Azalea, Glacier or just leaving Iosef to his thoughts. "Just once I would like to be able to have a day that isn't spent slave watching." She mumbled as she disappeared into the green foliage of the forest.

An alien emotion -- Iosef thought perhaps it was anger -- rose in his chest, but he said nothing to Thealia as she left, bowing instead and returning to the dens to see if there was anything that required further cleaning. His heart wasn't in it anymore, however, and as he continued his work his thoughts were focused instead on his sister, and the first he would be able to see her....
