Nimble fingers dances along the length of the dizi, covering holes to lure varying notes to life. She might have laughed at his question had she not been playing, it was amusing to her. She did smile, a soft up turn of lips and softening of eyes. Liu had taught her, and while he was certainly a master, he wasn't one that anyone else could really learn from. Not only was he a ghost, but a stubborn one that seemed to only like to appear for Shin-mu.
Her back against the tree, Shin finally allowed herself to relax, despite her ankle resting on the other lunarian's lap. He wasn't hurting her, wasn't bombarding her with odd questions or uncomfortable conversation. Perhaps her injury was the root of it, but he seemed to her to be a very noble, respectful young man who knew of duty and responsibility. She didn't often meet individuals like that outside of the narrow world she lived in for so long.
The song was mid way through. A soft, dulcet melody that tread the line between peaceful and melancholy. It was unpredictable, and thus interesting, and coupled with the string of calming ki she was weaving along the notes, it was a powerful thing when exposed to the right people. Unfortunately, it didn't do her a whole lot of good in a one on one battle, or any battle for that matter. She needed to expand her skills, of she wouldn't last long in the struggle between alliances.

Huang watched as if watching a great beauty washed over him. It was rare that he was so willing to accept the woman just as she was but her music was so calming, so peaceful that he himself forgot the he was Huang-Fu of the Lee family and just Huang, A young boy not trained to be a assassin enjoying something normal but extraordinary like Shin's music.
He envied her though for her easy enjoyment of her music, She was obviously skilled, even so that Huang should've taken earlier words back. He recognized though that she was forcing Ki into her song and found that amusing, so the woman's Dizi was her weapon, it seemed to fit her, at the same time not enough. If she was to be a warrior in the Alliances, she would need to learn something other than calming melodies.
Even more so interesting, Huang preferred the melody, Calming and soothing it be, no malice intent, no reason to kill. How long had it been since he felt this Humanness, and it came just from listening to a song. Huang shifted uncomfortably as he thought of it, He was not allowed to dawdle on the counsice that most Lunarian's had. He was a Assassin and a bodyguard, Not the Child he was seen as.

Pale eyes falling closed, Shin brought her playing to a lingering end. Letting the remnants of the last long note to hang in the air before dying off. The "spell" would linger for a short time still, spreading around the two young lunarians like a calming haze. It wasn't obvious or intoxicating, but subtle and easily shaken off if one so chose to rid themselves of the feeling.
Laying the instrument across her lap, Shin smoothed her gauzy sleazes back over her hands before folding them over her thighs. She took a second to herself, drawing a deep breath, and letting the tranquility of the moment surround her. The temporary peace wouldn't last, but she'd enjoy it while she could. Crown rolling against the tree, green eyes rolled up to gaze at the young man, the barest of smiles playing along her lips. She was a haughty individual, hard to manage and easily frustrated, but she enjoyed the effects of her own magic when she could.
"I apologize for the slight magic, but it has become increasingly difficult to separate mere music from the power I've trained so tediously to intertwine with it." She hadn't thought about it before, that someone might not appreciate having strange magics exercised upon them without permission. "I do not mean to over step or offend."

Huang cracked an eye open and smiled, it was rare, no one know how rare it was for him to fully smile at somebody and cocked his head at the woman before going back to his sober expression and a curious pose. He started to massage her ankle still sitting down by it and stayed quiet as he was deep in thought and still trying to organize his thoughts.
"Ahh so you are Soul conduit? Your magic is very subtle then." Huang frowned at her, "If you had not said something i would've assumed it was just your talent with your Dizi that has calmed me, though i am sure it part of it." Huang kept to his massaging, trying to sooth her swollen ankle, applying some creme to keep it cool and went back to deep thoughts.
"I was not offended Lady Shin but privileged." He looked up to her and angled his head, "You need not worry My Lady, for i am not easy to offend nor am i one to worry about over stepping." He shrugged and set her leg to rest upon a overgrown root, keeping it elevated.

Shin-mu caught that small smile and it drew one from her. A subtle up tilt of lips she half hid with a turn of her head, pale gaze looking off down the hill. "Yes, I'm following the path of a dead soul priest." Dark fingertips traveled up to touch the choker that rested against the hollow of her throat. "I'm following the role of my ancestors, and will do them proud." She let her hand fall back to her lap, turning her chin so she could watch as he massaged along her ankle.
Despite a few throbs of pain, it felt good, and was not something Shin had really ever experienced before. At least not that she could recall. Her childhood had not been very hands on. Her parents were too busy, and her living care takers did not do comforting touch. Her spiritual care takers could not touch her. "You may not take offense or challenge from it, but I would imagine some might. I should have mentioned it before hand."
The corner of her mouth twitched, lips pursing momentarily. "Thank you though, for your kind words. Few people have heard my playing, least not with a pulse." She couldn't help the smallest of disappointed frowns when he set her foot on a raised root, and then frowned harder, confused by the disappointment. That was new, and she wasn't sure how to react to the feeling.

Huang cocked his head, Shin had smiled and it had set something in his belly a flutter, not sure what it was, he rubbed it in reflex and the moved to rub the back of his neck. Soul conduits we're fragile people, who took on great responsibilities and we're even bigger dangers than normal fighter. Or at least that was what Huang had been told. Soul conduits we're unusually powerful and hard to battle, again what Huang had been told.
"It is good that you do this for family." Huang's face tightened in a quick jerk of resent and anger though not at Shin herself. He to was in the role he was because of family, though he did it out of loyalty and duty and not praise from his family.
Huang checked her their surroundings before noticing that the sun had begin its descent from the sky and he sighed. At night the area around them would likely turn into a battle field and if they we're found here, they would be caught regardless of being children. Huang looked back at Shin frowning, how was he suppose to get her home safely?
"Then again i am privileged Lady Shin, For i have never heard a melody as sweet as yours." Huang paced around the tree trunk, trying to figure out how to get Shin-Mu back to her home safely and then back to his duties before night fully fell in.

She was still puzzling over the interesting emotional responses his presence and actions were inspiring in her when he spoke again. Causing her to blink up at him, chin turning sharply to face him once again. Slender fingers curling into the pale silk of her skirt. "It wasn't so much a question of If. I have a gift, a skill that must be trained or it could go wild. It wasn't a choice, but it's not something I do through obligation either." She smiled again.
Those pale, lily green eyes were watching him as he stood and paced around the tree, and she stumbled upon the same train of thought. She wasn't sure how she was going to get home. If she asked, No doubt Huang would escort her, but strangers were not welcome within the Xia grounds.
She was spared the problem altogether though when the familiar outline of a tall figure came into view near the bottom of the hill. She knew that stride, that silhouette. It was Chen, one of the servants of the house, and one of the few living souls Shin had managed to form any sort of connection with.
He'd come looking for her when she didn't return before dinner. The thought made Shin smile, and she turned that pretty face up to Huang. "One of the servants of my family's home seems to have come looking for me." She held a hand out to him. "Could you help me up, Huang?

Huang studied the girl and understood her words without realizing knowing what she was saying. She practiced her skills in duty but not? She did it because of the talent and that made Huang considered his own talents, and the metal shop was the first thing that came up in his mind. shaking it away because that was neither here nor there, He nodded to Shin in response.
He still tried think of a way to escort her home while still returning to his own home before his brother noticed his disappearance when Shin spoke up and Huang noticed the man heading towards this way.
It was bad enough that he had met Shin and now formed something with her, He did not need another soul finding out about him and tried to look for a quick escape before realizing that Shin's ankle was hurt.
"That is convenient then my Lady." Huang came over to Shin and refusing to let her walk on her hurt ankle, picked her up and cradled her in his arms and enjoyed her smile a moment before heading to the servant, "Excuse me Sir, But it seems your mistress has injured her ankle and should not be walking on it." Huang didn't want to mention the fact that he had caused in case it drew more attention to himself as he handed Shin, though he saddened at the though and let is gaze linger a little longer, He headed back to the Cherry tree to grab his books and turned around, "Till next time Lady Shin." Because he knew there would be a next time.

Instead of merely being helped up to her feet she found herself whisked up into Huang's arms, and once more her cheeks flared rosy. Yet again she was left to puzzle over just why. It wasn't that she'd never blushed before, she had. More often then she'd like to admit, resulting from saying the wrong thing, an accident, things that left her embarrassed. But here, now with him, she was blushing from just a touch, or a compliment. It was baffling and worrisome.
"You don't have to carry me." She didn't mind, really, but her reactions to him were bothering her. She didn't understand it, and that which she did not understand had a high tendency to nag at her.
She knew however that he wasn't going to set her back down, and give a very soft sigh, settling into his arms as he carried her towards the other man.
She was quiet while Huang explained, letting him explain the situation as much or as little as he liked. She might be hurt, but she harbored no grudge against him. Despite the pain, she had had a very pleasant time speaking to him. She looked up finally when she was moved from Huang's arms to Chen's. Watching the young man turn away a head back to his belongings. She felt she should say something, but the only thing that managed to come out was inadequate and clipped. "Thank you, till then."
When he disappeared into the growing dimness of the coming evening she frowned, shoulders sagging a little in Chen's arms. Their meeting had been far to brief in Shin-mu's opinion. She'd have liked to spend more time with him, and that in itself was a curious sensation.
"I need my books, Chen." A delicate finger indicated the pile still beside the tree. "Lets go home" Chen just nodded and retrieved his mistress' belongings and headed towards the silhouette of the mountains and home. He'd never been a very vocal person.
