Aleu normally could keep her anger under control, and had certainly never been angry towards either of her parents. But that one word from her mother, the tone of it made her snap. Eyes filled with anger as she looked upon Chivosi. "Damn it mother I have the right to know. I don't want you two bringing more pups into the world so he can bugger off with some of them and return all messed up again. I'd rather not have another litter go through what we had to go through." The anger was slowly dissipating as she turned back to her father.
Aleu stared into those cold eyes, hers were equally cold, as he told her he wouldn't leave again. She wanted to believe him, she truly did, but it was hard. She remained standing there unmoving while her father turned away and walked to the river. It did pain her to see him look so depressed, but what about her? Had she not suffered in his absence, though it may not have ever showed. Heaving a sigh, Aleu took a moment to let her temper dissolve before moving over to where her father lay. Lowering herself down beside him, giving his cheek a lick. "Dad, I'm sorry."

Chivosi's ear's flattened at her daughters tone of voice, Aleu wasn't a child anymore and temperamental fits couldn't be shrugged off quite as easily. "You do not have the right" She told her daughter "You have the right to care for them and the right to be concerned but you do not have the right to speak to your father..your Alpha's with such a tone" She responded.
"I am pretty sure that lessons have been learned and not repeated, digging up all this old ugliness does no one any good" She continued as Mene slumped away. How had things gone from good to bad so quickly? She'd never scolded Aleu before but she was an alpha and she was a mother and a mate - and some things just had to be done. Chiv practically paced in place, taking disjointed half steps in either direction while she tried to figure out what to do now. She wasn't sure she could handle Mene turning into an unresponsive lump again, she just couldn't ,but she didn't wish to upset Aleu either. It seemed to be a lose/lose situation and she whined quietly in indecision while Aleu apologized.
At least she was apologizing. That would help right? Would turn things back to the good feelings that the gathering had held before the dratted question had been asked

Menelaus heard the apology, it was distant and practically fake, he acknowledged Chiv's discipline and smiled weakly to the pair of them. "We'll talk about the pups some other time Chiv, for now why don't we eat." He shifted in his spot and attempted to get up, he gave a soft groan then dragged himself up. He walked passed the females, a heavier limp in place of his excited one, he'd hurt himself physically in his silent rage.
"How does deer sound?" He offered in a gentle tone, trying desperately not to sink into dark thoughts, terrible ideas and wanting to run and ball his eye's out, cry for himself, his lost family and missing out, he didn't want to ignore Aleu's plea of attention, plea for him to really stick around and he wouldn't. She wouldn't believe him til he proved to her, although now he had become nervous on the proving stage. He couldn't control fate, but would fight it til his limbs were torn a part.
"So deer? If not I could always try and wrangle up some rabbits." He stopped not to far from them and through it all he smiled largely, ears flicking about for sounds and eye's glittering once more. He'd over come this whether it killed him or not.
"Coming?"

Her mothers scolding fell on deaf ears. Well no, that wasn't entirely true, Aleu heard her clear as day but choose to ignore it, knowing that if she responded to it she would just yell some more. Let's face it anything to do with her father, her childhood and for that matter future siblings touched a sore spot in Aleu that she would rather not acknowledge unless pushed too far. Sitting up as her father stood Aleu watched him carefully. She didn't like the look of that limp, especially when he was suggesting going hunting.
"I don't think you should be hunting deer with that limp." She told him plainly. "You might get hurt." If her mother wanted to scold her again so be it, but Aleu knew hunting with an injury, even a minor one, could have disastrous consequences. Stepping over to Chivosi Aleu gave her mother an apologetic look and a quick lick on the cheek.

Chiv was pretty sure that Aleu hadn't really paid much attention to what she'd said - but well that was youth for you wasn't it? And Chiv was more then willing to let the subject drop for now, to prolong it any further would just cause more hard feelings.
She had to amid her daughter was right when it came to the wound however it had never quite healed it seemed and was easily agitated, but she was also aware that Mene would benefit from a bit of action, from feeling useful, it would be a tight path to walk and her brows furrowed slightly in thought. "Perhaps...something a bit smaller" She suggested in a tone she tried to make light but which still held an edge of the stress she'd felt only a short time ago.

The women were thinking together again and not fighting. Menelaus wasn't eager to continue their other conversation and he read that they weren't either. "Fine fine, smaller then." He smirks to his caring mate and daughter. He stopped where he was and flicked his tail, eye's glued and excited.
"Now won't you come on?" He said eagerly, his head turned away and he began limping from the two again, pain drawn on his face, the face they couldn't see. He wouldn't let them see.

Aleu was glad her father didn't argue that he could hunt deer. She didn't like fighting with her parents and felt quite terrible over the words that were said only a short time ago. But she couldn't exactly take them back without starting the fight up again, no better to just let it go she told herself and gave her father a smile before glancing at her mother. "Yeah dad, we're coming." With a shrug at her mother as if to say 'why wouldn't we follow him' Aleu set off behind her father, keeping her pace slow to make his, letting him lead the way.

Chivosi shrugged slightly to herself and with one last look back towards the water trotted after Aleu and Mene. At the very least this might provide a bit of a bonding experience for the three wolves - moons knew they clearly needed it.
Chiv could only hope that given time her family would heal - become whole and happy again.
