The cat seemed rather content at the moment, letting out a small laugh as she gave the dog's nose another kiss. In a reassuring tone, she let Raja know "Don't worry! I'm fine. It just means I can't walk around all that much right now. So how are you doing, my friend? You seem well off." The tailless cat then nuzzled up against the dog, squirming her way slightly against the dog's side.
Casually, she kept an ear open, listening to what conversation might be going on, but not making it overly obvious that she was eavesdropping.
Since Ellie was under a car, it was hard to tell what she was doing. However, whether or not someone could see what she was doing, it was obvious she was concentrating. It was not exactly the easiest thing to hold the flashlight with her mouth and tighten in screws at certain points, and leaving other sections alone. So when there was suddenly a tap on her shin, the following clunk, clatter, and string of curses should have made sense. If the blind girl could only see, she would have noticed that a light was now shining out towards her rather than shining upon the bottom of the car.
"God... ya gotta be careful, Lil... someone could get injured if yer jus' pokin' 'round like that!" Namely, Ellie.
With a slight shuffling underneath the vehicle, the girl rolled herself out from where she was working, tossing her tools to the side and rubbing her head where she obviously had bumped it. It had left a little indent where the screw had been just above her forehead. Not wanting to sound overly angry, though her voice still held a slight gruff agitation to it, she went onto the explanation.
"I've been inta cars fer a damned long time. My dad's a used car salesman, so I've been 'round cars since I was a kid. Dad's friend, Hank, is also an auto mechanic, so I've been watchin' him since I was a kid work on cars. It always looked fun, so I got inta it pretty early. Officially, been doin' my own sh*t fer 'bout 2 years... but I've probably been tinkerin' fer 'bout 3 or 4 years. Hank's taught me a lot."
Sure, Ellie had a lot to say, but her tone really didn't seem to improve as she spoke. The only hint that she was gradually getting over her slight injury was the fact her lips vaguely curved into a smile.
"F*ckin' hurts like'a b*tch!" she complained.

Raja's ears flicked forward only slightly, as if only vaguely accepting ********* word that she was alright. That, and somewhat concerned about the whole lack-of-walking-ability problem. Even the dog was fully aware the special feline tended to go into not so safe areas, just as the two sailor scouts did. But they could run, dodge, or whatever else need be to keep themselves safe. How well could *********? Still, she gave a chipper little yip to respond that she had been quite well, letting her nose twitch about as she looked around the busy garage around them. Tail thumping lightly against the concrete, it was her way of saying she liked seeing new areas - it was always fun to get out and explore!
When she felt the cat snuggle up against her, Raja instantly curved her furry body around the smaller one, a doggy smile lighting up her face. Though at Ellie's sudden bang and curses she looked up, full attention, to find nothing of supreme danger at hand after a moment or two of watching the girls, she settled back down, head resting on her paws not far from *********. Her eyes were still quite open, however, flicking between cat and humans ever now and then.
"I'm sorry! I thought I was being careful," she apologized again, pale eyes wide with one hand to her mouth while the other was occupied by pushing the white cane close to her leg away from Ellie. One might have assumed she was trying to half hide the offending object. Her face was beat red, and for each curse the blonde kicked out, Lilith blurted out another I'm sorry! before finally just clamping her mouth shut as she listened to the other wheel herself out from under the car. The clang of tools was foreign and sharp to her ears, making her wince slightly, though the voice that came soon after didn't hold the steaming anger she'd for a moment connected with it.
Agitation she could deal with, both hands returning to rest in her lap while her muscles uncoiled from their defensive pose. Had she been able to see the indent on her forehead, she sure wouldn't have just remained kneeling there, instead was more the type to babble out more apologies while scouting the garage for a first aid kit. Then get the poor girl some ice. Which she was still pondering if it was possible to do, if only due to that nice thunk of some part of Ellie hitting the undercarriage.
Yet as she continued on to explain Lilith found herself rather fascinated, expression lightening up as she took in the information. It was odd for her to imagine a kid finding something like mechanics fun, but the family connection to it made enough sense to her to keep herself from commenting. About that bit, anyways. "You've been doing this for that long? Wow, that's really neat." Her awed face meant she was legit about this, used to hobbies like piano and ballet being the ones to take up a girl's childhood. She smiled, head turning to glance back at the car. "I can only imagine how much he must have, especially with you working on this one now." Sure it's amazing if someone can paint a great painting, or play a piece on an instrument they composed themselves... but how many people can work on something and then be able to drive it? Feel it purr under your hands? Have it move and take you places and do so for years? Perhaps that just goes to show what sort of world she grew up in, but to her, it was pretty darn awesome.
The smile flicked to one of guilt however at the next words she heard, grasping her cane again as she readied to push herself to her feet. Still kneeling though, she said, "We should probably get you some ice, that didn't sound too good before."

In a voice that only Raja could hear, the cat simply stated "Don't worry about her. She's got rocks in her head." She nodded her head firmly before settling down again.
Ellie, if she had heard this, might have rebutted. Instead, she simply tended to the blind girl. Rather than take the suggestion of using ice, the blonde almost seemed to spit to the side. "Ice is fer pussies! I ain't no p***y!" It was obvious someone grew up with the "work through the pain" mentality. Rather than roll herself back under the car, she remained sitting on her rolling board, a hand occasionally daring to rub at her own forehead.
"Buildin' somethin' with yer hands, by yerself... it probably one'a th'best achievements ya can have in a lifetime." Were her head not aching, she might have stood up and made her way to the motorcycle was stored. Instead, she simply asked "So, ya ever ride a motorcycle?"
There was a lazy grin on her face, as if she was already assuming that this girl had been sheltered from such fun things over the span of her lifetime.

For a moment, Raja seemed to debate the cat's words, ears still perked and pointed towards the bumped blonde. Still, Ellie seemed to be well beyond the rubbing and couple curses here and there. The girl had to be tougher than she looked, the canine summarized, which was in itself saying something. She certainly looked pretty damn tough.
Not even Lilith heard ********* comment, attention tuned solely towards Ellie at the moment. Instantly she shook her head at the renouncing of the use of ice. "Ice is hardly only for... weaklings, but if you're sure," she simply shrugged back. She wasn't about to debate the use of a numbing agent, even if Ellie had just indirectly called the brunette herself a p***y. Not a fight worth having, though her expression was somewhat put-out pouty.
Still she nodded, her previous thoughts mirroring what Ellie was saying. "Something tells me pottery can't really compare," she threw in with a chuckle, before pausing to consider the question posed to her. "No, I haven't." Came the obvious response, head titling slightly to the side. "I know my father used to ride, but I don't think he's done so in years." Supposedly, somewhere in the garage he stored away the vehicle, though Lilith herself hadn't seen or heard it for ages. "Why do you ask? Have you?" It seemed like such a random question to her, brows knitting as she tried to determine where exactly this new train of conversation came from.

The only sound escaping the feline at the moment was a subtle purring sound. However, she was still listening in very carefully, and she had to commend all of Lilith's efforts. ********* would have totally tossed a joking quip at Ellie by now. Perhaps that was the difference between a Crystal Academy student versus a Meadowview High School student?
As if to prove the blind girl wrong, Ellie rather bluntly answered "If yer pottery is somethin' yer proud of, then it can compare! Point is that it wasn't somethin' jus' handed down t'ya! Ya had t'work t'make it inta somethin' worthwhile!" There were many different types of worth which could be ranked in the world, but for this blonde before Lil, the most important type of worth came in how much work went into something. Effort was extremely important.
Normally, Ellie would have pulled out her wallet and flashed her new license to the person doubting her motorcycling, but alas, that would not work very well at the moment. Blind person couldn't see such a thing. Instead, she simply pushed against her board and rolled herself back a bit until her head touched the edge of her vehicle (for a lack of a better term).
"No... I don't ride motorcyles..."
It sounded like the bad start to a Soviet Russia joke.
"...I drive motorcycles." Not that Lil could see it, but the tomboy was grinning from ear to ear now. Since the girl had confessed to never riding a motorcycle, Ellie now had a plan in her head which more than likely wouldn't quit until she succeeded.
"I'll take ya fer a ride sometime."
Not today.
Today, Ellie bumped her head and it hurt. Not the best thing to have going on when going for a bike ride.

"You can't ride pottery," she pointed out with another laugh, though her smiling expression hid her openly pondering this. In a way, Ellie did have a point there. Knowing you worked hard on something, did make it more valuable. Perhaps not in the monetary sense, but sentimental. Although the idea of the rough and tumble Sailor Iris being sentimental brought a wider smile to her face, she still nodded after a moment to admit humble defeat.
She listened to the movement of the bored, rising a brow at the sudden statement. It caught her off guard, to say the least, further confused and curious as to what was going on. Lilith had yet to understand what a Soviet Russia joke was, and was thereby blinking rather blankly for a moment when Ellie completed her line. As far as she could tell, "ride" and "drive" were of the same meaning in this context, unless someone cared to be of the utmost political correctness.
Then she really had a reason to sit up straighter and just stare in the direction of the other girl. "You... would?" She'd never traveled any amount of distance in anything except a closed bus or car. Note the enclosed part. She'd of course heard motorcycles drive by her on the city streets, seen them outlined and vaguely detailed by energies bouncing off of them under the magical sight of Sailor Metis... but that was the end of her experience with the fast and exposed rides.
But she gave it some honest thought, since Ellie was the one who brought it up in the first place. Her hands played with the hem of her skirt a bit, trying in vain to recall some story that might have perhaps talked about what it was like to ride on a motorcycle. All the ones she could think of though, didn't end pleasantly, at least not those in first person as they tended to be of the horror story variety. "It certainly sounds fun." Not a lie, she did want to know what it was like. "And the weather is getting pretty nice out due to summer finally kicking in."

An ear flicked on the cat as she got a rather amusing image stuck in her head.
Sailor Iris, Senshi of Rainbows, riding around in some pottery.
The cat smiled where she was at and snuggled further into the dog. That image was just priceless.
The grin on Ellie's lips didn't fade.
"Yeah, everyone has t'experience it at least one time in their lives. Too many people chicken out or claim it ain't that excitin'... but they're wrong." Certainly, the tomboy's views were a bit biased to say the least, but they were definitely firm and ingrained in her mind. There was no wiggle room. You either tried it, or you were a chicken.
Since they had been talking about Ellie for so long, the blonde almost forgot that Lil was a person too.
Almost.
"So, kid... what do ya do with yer time anyways? Aside from th'senshi crap?"

Raja did not have the luxury of receiving such a mental image, though she did give a huff when she at last registered that a ride on the bike would be then yet another no-dogs-allowed outing. There were pros and cons of such a thing, though with her head resting on her paws as she nestled herself around *********, she decided that when the time came for such an event, she could perhaps be nice to not whine and beg to run around the city with the girls.
Which Lilith could easily support has happened many a time when she'd gone out shopping with girls from the academy. Many, many a time. Raja was not a canine content with staying behind more often than not.
The blind girl herself was laughing. "My father would probably agree with you on that." On some level, anyways. He hadn't talked of taking her out on his bike since she was a child. The subject of chickening out, however, made her pause before venturing, "Haven't you ever been worried about getting into an accident though? I'm in no way doubting your abilities, but rather the other drivers out there. I've heard a lot of idiots skidding around on the streets on my walks." A little shutter crept over her as she recalled various times she'd heard people slamming on their brakes, horns blaring. Thankfully she'd never been around the site of a crash, but the news was certainly full of them.
This new change of topic wasn't as startling as the previous, bringing her from her thoughts with a shrug and small smile. ********* had asked a very similar question, and again she went through her various activities in her head to figure what would be the most important to list. "And beyond homework? Well you've already seen one of the biggest ones - walks with Raja." The golden retriever's tail thumped against the ground at this, making her chuckle. "I read a lot, too. Play with clay, go shopping with friends... surf the web." Again another shrug. "Usual teen stuff, really."
A theme though, that suddenly occurred to her, was perhaps not so teen typical. At least not at Crystal. But then, she wasn't very knowledgeable of the gothic craze some teens tended to get into. Even if there were a few in the club she was in, they hadn't struck her as especially odd. She wasn't at all aware of the extent some went with it outside the confines of her pricey, prissy school. "I do spend a great deal of time researching the paranormal and occult though. I've been into aliens and ghosts for years. 'Just because you can't see it, doesn't mean it doesn't exist,' and all." To this she grinned widely, pointing to her empty eyes.

"All ya do if ya worry 'bout that sorta sh*t is make it so yer gonna have that sh*t happen." If you worried, then you wouldn't drive your best. Once more, Ellie began to roll the board she was sitting on forward and back. She listened. Or, she tried to.
Yet, all Lil was spouting out was boring, boring things she enjoyed doing. Raja was perhaps the only hobby that was somewhat interesting. The first thing that came to mind was the first thing that Ellie said in a rather plain tone.
"So, yer a nerd?"
There was nothing teasing, nothing hateful or cruel about her tone, yet it didn't make it right for her to put out such a blunt label so quickly. Ellie was never very good at being subtle.

That was not the reaction she was hoping for. At all. Her happy face vanished in a moment, wincing at how fast Ellie had whipped out the label. She drew back into a straighter, more reserved pose, pushing some of her hair back behind her ear. Lilith wasn't at all sure how to respond to it, regardless of how simple the question was. Still kind of hurt.
"That's not a very nice way to put it," she pointed out after a moment, chagrin making her voice a tad harder than she intended it. She cleared her throat, pausing a moment to collect herself a bit more to respond in a softer tone, "But yes, I suppose I am. I apologize if that's at all a problem to you... but I am who I am." Where Ellie wasn't the most subtle of people, Lilith wasn't the best at gracefully recovering from anything perceived as an open insult. It wasn't that she shut down, but rather, withdrew herself, majority of the previous warmth in her new smile replaced by unease and embarrassment. She just had to open her big mouth and ramble.
"My lack of sight restricts me from a great deal of activities you probably do daily, so I can only be my most active when as Metis." The brunette gave a light shrug, lifting a brow towards Ellie. "But I figured anything there was excluded." Metis was Metis even when she was Lilith, but not even Lilith would deny there was... a bit of a difference between who she was as a civilian and who she was as a scout. It seemed that didn't exist for Ellie and Iris, from where Lilith was now sitting. Was that the difference between the blind and the seeing gifted with these other selves?

The blind girl wouldn't be able to tell, but Ellie was smirking the whole time she rambled out her attempt at an explanation for her nerd-like ways. Yet, when she seemed finished, the tomboy had one thing to say.
"Well, with an attitude like that, no wonder yer doin' nerdy things! So what if ya can't see? Doesn't mean ya can't go out and rattle th'world up a bit. Cause some hell!"
Here the blonde laughed a bit. Again, nothing scornful, but simple amusement. "It ain't yer eyes that are restrictin' ya, kid! It's you! And ya know what. You can do whatever th'hell ya want, as long as ya put yer mind to it!" Perhaps it was this "logic" which the tomboy was spouting out that explained why even on their first encounter she hadn't been all that babying. Sure, being blind was a handicap, but it was only as much of a handicap as you allowed it to be.
From where the cat was nestled, she decided to interject to prevent any further awkward moments.
"Liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiilith," she called out, hoping the blind girl would make her way over once more.

Lilith almost responded with a brittle, And how do you expect me to do that? when she stopped herself. It was odd. Here she was, saying her lack of sight was this huge problem... and she was usually the one doing all she could to convince others of otherwise. "If it was that simple-" There it was again. An excuse. She rubbed her forehead in silence, eyes closed as she tried to organize her thoughts enough to respond. Where was her usual confidence? It wasn't working very well, so by the time ********* called to her, she let out a breath, lids flicking open as she again picked up her cane. "Hold... that thought," she told Ellie with a half-smile, rising to her feet.
She still had no idea what she was going to say, but the girl had definitely put an interesting few thoughts into her head she was going to want to readdress at some point.
With careful steps and light taps, she made her way back over to the feline and canine, dropping down to her knees with one hand on Raja's head. "Yes, *********> Raja gave a soft whine, reacting to the blind girl's less than chipper tone.

Ellie didn't exactly sound very sympathetic as Lilith began to seemingly sputter out another excuse. As the blind girl pulled away and began to resume her cane-tapping trip back towards the cat, the blonde couldn't help but shake her head back and forth and pick up her tools again. Flashlight and shoved into her mouth and soon enough she was rolled right back under the vehicle.
"Pick me up please..." The feline nuzzled against whatever she could get from the blind girl. "I'm starting to feel a bit tired... so it might be best if you head home. It wouldn't be very fun for me to sleep while you were here." The feline had more to say, but it would have to wait until Lilith got close enough for whispering.
"If you could take me back to the washing machine, that would be nice."

Moving her hand from Raja to the silver feline, she found herself unable to stop the more genuine upturn of her lips to grace her face. If not simply from the removal of that rather... embarrassing situation, but also the way out of sorts ********* was presenting her with. Not that Lilith felt any better thinking about it that way. She resisted the urge to wince, instead giving a little nod and scooping up the cat.
Tap tap tapping yet again brought her back to the washing machine, the hollow thunk of her cane lightly striking it allowing her halt and gently place the injured one back on top. Resting the stick against the side for a moment, she fished out her cellphone from a pocket in her skirt, though kept it closed for the time being. "I should let you return to your work - wouldn't want you to hit your head again," she called, laughter lightening her tone. She was trying to stay positive at least. Lilith could be as pensive as she pleased once she reached her dorm.
Though she sensed a long patrol would be on her schedule tonight.

The second ********* was in Lilith's arms, she began to purr relentlessly. The vibrations easily resonated into the blind girl's arms. Every so often, a furry cheek rubbed up against the brunette.
There was a noise that came from under the car that sounded like Ellie attempting to speak while holding a flashlight in her mouth.
When the cat was set upon the washing machine, she gave the best translation she could for the blonde.
"She said it wasn't your fault she bumped her head, so don't blame yourself."
*********. Guardian Cat. Portable translator for tomboys.
A foot under the partial vehicle wiggled, as if saying her goodbyes with a simple stupid gesture.
"Ellie's waving her foot at you. I think that's supposed to mean 'see you later.'" The feline perked her head up and looked at the blind girl's dulled eyes. In a quieter voice, she sympathetically offered "I think you did well, Lilith. I know she's not the easiest person to deal with. Keep your chin up." The cat then offered something which probably was absolutely pointless to a blind girl.
********* winked.
"I promise you that we'll call you again for a patrol."
