Rhilira figured it was sensible to go to the eggs nearest her, seeing as there were three grouped together, so next she laid her hand gently upon the Grey Speckle Egg. Even though she felt like it had just "harrumphed" at her, she smiled as she removed her hand. It wasn't necessarily an unpleasant reaction, though the dragonet inside didn't seem all too pleased with her presence regardless.

She moved on, figuring it best to keep moving, and rested her hand upon the Inner Light Egg next, and immediately any hesitance she felt from the previous egg disappeared. She felt a very warm presence from this one, and it made her feel much better and more assured about the hatching now. The first egg had scared her a bit, but that fear was gone now. She kept moving~

Zeren moved quickly from the grey speckled egg, reaching his hand out to the next one, the angry red stripes seemed to show its temper even before he touched it, the sharp angry aura seemed rejectful of anyone who touched it, and he swiftly withdrew his hand. He moved to the next egg, manouvering his body so that he moved against the other candidate as little as possible.

Reaching the New Day Egg, he was filled with warm acceptance, and this made him smile, despite being jostled by the other boys and girls, lingering longer there than anywhere else. Snapping back to reality he took back his hand, his feet shuffling him towards the next. He cocked his head sideways a little as the upside down Teal Egg, a wry and amused smile playing on his face, reaching out his hand he could feel the playfulness of this egg "be sure to be a clever clown" he thought to it, enjoying the feeling emanating from this egg.

Like his 'brother', Ther had no problems moving forward without aide from the Candidate-master. At his turn, he stepped out with confidence, his boots sinking into the heated sand enough that his feet were quite warm; he made his way to greet and thank the golden Queen and flashed her a grin before bowing deeply. "Thank you, beautiful Feynath, for allowing us the honour of touching your eggs." Ther spoke aloud, but with a low, sweet tone that he usual reserved for his flits.

That done, Therion set about meeting all of the little eggs. He reached out to each egg, giving them all their due until he came to the trio nestled around the gleaming Queen's egg. The two blue eggs and the large one sort of sitting atop one of the blues. He knew better than to touch the bold, golden egg...but he did gently touch each of the others - he admired them, crowded around the Queen egg like they were already intent upon being her champions! It appealed to his sense of chivalry and he gently encouraged each of them to continue 'protecting' the Queen.

What was truly amusing was the tiny egg, straining to be seen - so unlike the green it must be...but who was he to judge. "Good luck, little dragon, take care of her.."

Ther quickly straightened, gave the Golden Feyanth a salute and then left before the Candidate-master came after him. What would he do now that the Touching was done for him? Find Loth.

Ok, next egg! Kentori shifted over again, and placed his hand on the Abstract Bowtie Egg. His reaction to it made him puff out his chest without realizing it. The confidence made him feel good about himself. I certainly think I'll like this dragonet... He moved on, feeling pretty good about himself.

The next egg he touched was the nearest of the next group, the Purple Spotted Egg. The residual smile on his face faded, and he looked around, feeling as though he was following the eyes of this egg, though not looking for anything in particular. As he moved on, he felt that his opinion on that egg was positive, definitely, but left him wondering who exactly it would Impress to.

The next egg he touched was next to the previous: the Brown Patchy Egg. It wiggled as he shifted over to it, and that made the smile return as he laid his hand carefully upon the hardening shell. He instantly felt a smart presence in his mind, though not without a goofy grin behind it. Definitely an egg he related to, and really liked.

Arelly's hands were jittery as she moved with the other Candidates, eyes wide open and excited. This is it, she thought, this is it! She had never had opportunity to sit in during a Hatching, much less participate in a Touching, and needless to say her exhilaration had increased nearly tenfold. However a small twinge of annoyance dampened her good time a little - in the fact that she felt sandwiched between the taller Candidates around her. She has been balancing on tip toe in order to peek over shoulders before they were nudged out onto the sands and told to present and thank the Queen. Sometimes she disliked how small she was and urged a growth spurt to come her way.

There was no need to be annoyed though, and just as quickly she stuffed any frustrations away. The group was moving. Everyone would have their chance today - it was a Touching, after all.

For the occasion she had left her gloves at home. This being a special event, Arelly only thought it right that she really get to know the eggs rather than feel them through impersonal leather. That was the point, wasn't it?

The sight of the Queen left her momentarily breathless. The Gold was very impressive, definitely intimidating to one small as her.. but no matter. Press on, Arelly, just keep moving!

Thank you for letting me among your Eggs, Feynath. She made sure to remain respectful but also to heed the Candidate-Master's words and not idle after her bow, next turning her attention eagerly to the clutch. Win or lose, Impression or no Impression, she had made it here. With that in mind, the girl moved to the first of the eggs that had gotten her attention. A hand that trembled from excitement reached out to rest on top of an egg that resembled the sky. A sense of calm washed over her when she touched the New Day Egg, and her happy shaking stopped immediately. However she had to remind herself again not to linger too long, and immediately moved her hand to the next egg over, the Teal Swirl Egg. It felt like such a charming egg - well, charming to her at least. Something about it was different, and her heart skipped a happy beat. But there were still more to see.

Work from the front and move towards the back. That way none are missed. It was a good plan of action, Arelly thought.

It should have been a chance to bounce onto the sands, brimming with energy and the joy of finally doing something. But the day just past had been exhausting, and Adriaetta was finding it difficult to summon her usual joyous enthusiasm. Oh, it was there, but simmering instead of boiling over, and when she stepped out with the others, her usual grin was replaced with a sleepy sort of smile.

She gave the queen her most perfect bow, which was, frankly, quite perfect indeed. These were the things she knew, the things she practiced. What she didn't know was how to think in your mind at things, so her thanks was vocal. "They're real lovely," she said, in her sweet clear voice, "I'm real grateful to get to see them." There was gratitude in her voice, but no fear. It did not occur to her to fear the great gold. She'd been told that she'd be safe and she was one to take such statements at face value. Well, she took most things at face value.

Her first stop was the Bold 'n Gold Egg, the clear queen of the clutch. She had no ambitions in that direction, had stated more than once her lack of desire for such leadership. But she respected, as best she could, those who took such leadership upon themselves. It seemed right, to do so.

Yet the feeling she got left her slightly ill at ease, the irritation making her remove her hand after the lightest of touches and back away. Even more now, she knew this was not the egg she sought.

Just as he'd done each time before, Alirien kept himself as close to the female candidates when they were lined up as he could do, distancing himself from the other boys. Alright, yes, touching the eggs was really awesome, deep down, but that didn't mean he had to like being grouped up by gender to do it. What made the rules so mean about it, huh?

Shoving such thoughts aside though, he makes certain to give the Gold his most respectful bow. A female he could stand behind that's for sure. Now then, the matter at hand. While he would have liked to get nearer to the Gold egg and have a chance to welcome the new little girl in, he avoids it in favor of the dark green egg not too far. Inner Light egg had a pleasant look to it, and the warm shell certainly doesn't dsappoint, nor that little hint of feeling from inside. Would be interesting to see what hatched from there, for sure.

Both the Grey Speckle and Red Slash egg hld is attention next though. First grumpy, he could share that sentiment to be sure, and then outright angry. uh, wonder who caused that. Did one of the other boys do it? Hmph, probably, they couldnt be trusted after all. "No reason to be angry right now you know... you can't do anything about it until you hatch. Then you can take care of whatever made ou mad then." He nods lightly, lingering only a moment longer before moving on.

Next, Rhilira moved toward the uppermost eggs, where the gold egg presided over the entire clutch. First, however, she stopped at the Event Horizon egg, and touched it gently. There was certainly something here that she liked, though she thought it went beyond confidence to vanity. I'm not here to judge the dragonets, she thought carefully, moving on to the Royal Bands Egg next. It suddenly felt that all of her troubles were unimportant, or that this dragonet would be there if there were any issues. It was a good feeling, and she held her hand there just a moment longer, before moving on to the next egg, which was the Half and Half Egg. Now this was a feeling she liked - full of pride, and comfortable in it. She related, though quietly thought that this egg would not be for her, since it was probably going to be a brown or bronze, judging by the sheer size of it...

However, she had to push that slight disappointment from her mind as she approached the Bold 'n Gold Egg. Her heart lept as she placed her hand carefully against the shell, and she received a feeling from it that she would expect from a queen egg. It made her feel calm, but certainly full of pride similar to that of the previous egg she had touched, though much more regal. It was good to know that the queen dragonet did not seem repulsed by her...

Suddenly aware that she had been standing with her hand on the gold far too long - especially with other girls coming and going - she quickly withdrew her hand and bustled away, not wanting to attract Feynath's negative attention with her prolonged presence.

Kentori withdrew his hand from the Brown Patchy Egg after standing there for probably too long, and moved it to the Grapefruit Dip Egg. While he wasn't completely rejected by the egg - the feeling he got was surely positive - it didn't seem all too fond of his touch altogether. He moved on, not wanting to linger anywhere longer than necessary now that he had been here so long already.

Next was the Orange Art Splotch Egg. He placed his hand gently upon it, and felt that the dragonet was annoyed by its prolonged inhabitance of its egg. Kentori liked the feeling, and thought absently Don't worry, you'll come out when you're ready, and then you don't have to wait any longer. He moved again, now to the furthest up group of eggs, bowing in greeting to the gold egg, though keeping his distance respectfully. First was the Half and Half Egg. The feeling of pride made him feel comfortable, and he was sure that he would like this dragonet. Next was the Royal Bands Egg. This was another egg that he felt a definite attraction to - the feeling he received seemed somewhat in line with his own. However, he realized how close he was to the gold egg, and moved quickly to the next egg: the Event Horizon Egg.

The feeling of vanity made him smirk, and he became suddenly aware of the clothes he was wearing - nothing he would have chosen for himself, certainly, but what was standard for Candidates when they went on the sands. He certainly didn't mind this egg at all!

Sevya drifted towards the line's end. "My apologies for the disturbance, Feynath," she said, bowing deeply, "But I promise we won't disturb you and your children for very long. Thank you for allowing us a brief visit."

Her glance strayed towards the Bold 'n Gold egg sitting in pride of place at the top of the mound, but she didn't drift towards it; the thought of being a queenrider gave her hives just imagining it! Instead, the harper nodded respectfully towards it, hoped quietly that she'd find the right rider, and moved on through the cluster of eggs. Let me see...

"So how's this work, anyway?" the harper candidate wondered as she moved amongst the clutch, being ever so careful as to not jostle or move them. She didn't fancy the overprotective mother taking an accident amiss. Sevya'd never been on the sands herself, of course, but she'd heard this and that. Just touch them, and let the dragonet within do what it would.

Ah. The right side of her mouth quirked up in a slight smile as she surveyed the Brown Patchy Egg. Such a weird pattern. It got her first touch - and Sevya snatched back her hand blinking twice at the sensations. To be honest, she hadn't known what to expect. They told you in candidate classes, but it was totally different than actually experiencing it.

Shards! It actually knew I was here! The next touch was more tentative, and this time she swore she could feel the hatchling giggling. You crazy little scamp. she thought at it. I wish your partner joy - and a vineyard worth of wine to keep up with you! Giving it a final pat, she moved on to the next one.

The New Day Egg caught her eye next, and the harper hunkered down on her heels to examine it closely. One hand traced across the bands of blue, and she could sense the hatchling drowsily responding to the gentle touch. "Well, aren't you a sweetie," she whispered, feeling the sleepy presence within. "I'll just leave you to your nap, but you'll need to wake up soon, okay?"

The bold green of the Inner Light Egg caught her attention next, and she ran a hand over the slightly lighter spot on the shell. Again, she felt a faint mental touch similar to that of the New Day Egg, but far more awake and alive. Blue? Green? She puzzled over it, but there was really no way of knowing. Whatever it was, it was an extremely goodnatured child. "Wouldn't mind getting to know you, too," she told it, before shifting over to give others a try at them.

Wykla gives a small sigh of relief as she makes it past the Candidate master. So they would let her stand. Part of her was grateful and the other part thought it was only her due right. Once past the Candidate master she finds herself standing in front of a rather upset gold dragon. Mismatched eyes look up into the anxious face. She stands poised in front of the queen as if weighing her in her mind. After several long moments Wykla gives a formal and respectful bow to the dragon.

Moving on past the queen her feet take her towards the eggs laid out across the sands. Wykla finds herself facing the Purple Spotted Egg. Lightly she cresses it and wonders at the quietness of it. Perhaps it was just lazy? Moving on she lets her fingers slide onto the Brown Patchy Egg. Its jumpiness startles her almost so much that she jumps back. This one just had too much energy. It’d be hard for it to settle down and sit still.

Grapejuice Dip Egg elicits a giggle from her. She gives it a fond pat at its friendliness towards her. “Don’t mind that someone dripped their lunch on you hu?” Looking to the next egg, Wykla finds herself contemplating the Orange Art Splotch Egg. Her head nods in acknowledgement of its desire to be out in the world. Soon enough.

Now that Tie was out on the sands and not dragging her feet as much, her legs getting used to the weight of shoes and walking on an uneven surface, it was time for her to start touching some eggs. She certainly wasn't new to any of this, she was actually something of a veteran compared to many of the other faces she saw out amongst the shells, but that didn't mean she didn't act like a total newbie out there. She staggered amongst the eggs like a girl without a direction before she finally stopped in front of one, taking a deep breathe and placing her hand on the shell.

It was the Purple Spotted Egg, it's lovely coloring having drawn her in at first glance, and Tie exhaled as her hands ran over its surface. She could get a feeling of peace from this egg, a quiet peace mixed with some small hints of desire, but it was rather hard for her to place and understand. She could feel and acknowledge its silence though, so with a nod she moved over to the egg directly to its left.

Once her hands touched the Brown Patchy Egg, the Timid Shepherd's eyes opened wide and with a smile. This egg was jumpy and she could have sworn it moved beneath her hands as she stroked it, the sensation she was getting from it different with each pulse. There was excitement to be had from this egg, and it lifted her spirits somewhat. The dragonet beneath this shell was smart, that was the only thing about this that she knew for sure.

Pulling her hands free, Tie started to move to go towards the next egg when she brought her foot up awkwardly, kicking herself in the back of her other foot. It caught the girl off balance and she staggered backwards, small vocal sounds escaping her lips as her arms moved in an effort to stay standing. It was just her luck to become klutzy out here on the uneven sand, and with a groan she felt her shoulder contact with something warm and hard that prevented her fall.

She'd smacked shoulder and shoulder into half of the Half & Half Egg....and half into the beautiful Gold egg. Tie swallowed deeply and waited to be pulled off the sands, her touching going to stop very quickly because she couldn't even stand on her own two feet.

Next among the line of eggs to touch was an interesting mix of white with orange splotches. He got a sense as he touched the egg that the dragon within was just itching to come out. Can't exactly say I blame you, being stuck in an egg and all, Azuran thought sympathetically. Still, you'll be free soon enough I am sure. The dark purple egg next to it didn't give him as much feedback as some of the others. He could sense a proudness about it, but otherwise the dragon didn't seem to much care for his touch. Moving on then.

Azuran wasn't quite sure what to make of the next egg. Blue eyes stared at the green and brown egg with mild confusion as he tried to make out exactly what he was feeling. It seemed almost... finicky, in a way. Realizing that he was lingering too long again, the ebony-haired teen moved on to the next egg. This one was purple with many lighter purple spots over it. You're clutch-mates are quite varied, aren't they, he remarked silently, glancing back over briefly at the previous eggs he had already touched. You seem more quiet and reserved though. I rather like that. Smiling again, he moved on to give the other Candidates room. Only a few eggs left now.

It was then that a small cry nearby caught his attention, and Azuran looked over just in time to see a girl fall over and crash against two of the eggs. That had to hurt. "Are you alright?" he asked, stepping over and offering a hand to help the other Candidate up. He had seen her around before, some had somehow never really gotten around to talking to her. With a faint smile he said, "Gotta be careful on the uneven ground."

Well, no time to linger, silly.. onward! Arelly nudged herself to the next egg in the set, the Abstract Bowtie Egg. As her fingers grazed the shell and the palm rested atop it, she was tickled at the feeling of abounding confidence. It certainly seemed like quite a character, judging by the coloring and how proudly it stood. And who will you be? She giggled quietly, her smile showing off the gap in-between her two front teeth.

Her feet continued on towards the second row of eggs, and she leaned towards the left hand side first, resting her hand atop the Inner Light egg. The warmth from the egg made her comfortable - perhaps this one was going to be a social butterfly? .. However, it was quite clear that the egg next to it was quite the opposite. Arelly moved next to the Grey Speckle Egg and placed her palm on the surface, and gave it an encouraging rub. Don't be so grumpy, she thought with a small smile. There's time enough in life for that!

The last egg in the row of three was very striking, the girl had to admit. Even as she pressed her hand to the Red Slash Egg's shell she nearly wanted to pull it back at the sudden wave of anger she felt from it. What has you so riled up? A frown tugged at her lips and she looked at it in slight concern. But the moment was brief, and she pulled her hand away and turned towards the group across the way. The sleeves of her tunic had come unrolled in the travels around the Sands so she rolled them up as she walked. No lingering, time's a-wastin'!

Rhilira was about to move on to the last grouping of eggs, but saw Tiepet fall. Oh no! That's not good... Before she laid her hand on to the shell of the nearest egg, she quickly moved over to Tie, careful not to bump into anyone, but pushing some careless candidates out of the way so that the shepard wouldn't get trampled. "Are you ok?" she said just barely above a whisper, crouching next to her. She had to elbow a few people in the shins to keep them clear of the entire situation, but she didn't have a problem doing so, even if they -were- on the sands with Feynath looking over them.

Kentori moved to the Inner Light Egg next, and laid his hand on it. It was definitely a positive feeling that he received, and he couldn't help but smile. It was then that he noticed a rather small girl take a tumble, but she was quickly hidden by the bustling candidates, and he moved on, pushing it from his mind. He didn't know the girl, and it looked like someone was already tending to her.

The Candidate Master had called them all to order. Pazzult was excited as he lined up with the others boys and began to make his way out the the Hatching Sands. As they walked from the barracks area through the Weyr, the weaver boy couldn't help but walk a little straighter, a little prouder. Yeah, sure. Maybe at one point or another, the others had stood as well or had been considered but now it was his time. And the time of the others. Why not give it a go? It wasn't like his heart and soul was set on being a dragon rider, it would just be a bonus.

He was towards the back of the group and watched as the others in front of him bowed towards the Gold and her rider. Pazzult thought it weird but he had been told that dragons had their own mind as well so when in Malvern... He shuffled past, the heat of the sands soaking into his feet and making him move a little quicker. His brown eyes didn't quite meet the gold's faceted blue and he had the feeling that was a good thing. Bowing as well, he spoke out loud, unaware of any other way to do it.

"G'day to you, Feynath. Thank you for letting come and look at your eggs up close. I don't know how a Hatching is supposed to work but I hope yours is a good one."

And with that, he stepped away and let the next person speak.

He moved around and watched to see who was heading towards which egg. Pazzult was amazed by all the different colors and sizes represented before him. The youth was taking mental notes, wondering if he could get a hold of Kita later and run the idea of Egg Colored designs for clothing by him. Surely these were some of the most amazing patterns created. Amused, he made his way to the Orange Art Splotch Egg. He had seen others touching the eggs in awe and excitement. Cautiously, he poked the egg like one would poke a dead animal. Instantly he felt a sense of impatience and maybe the impression that it wanted out, now. Coughing to cover his shock, Pazzult looked around and tried to see what others were doing.

And, they were doing what he was. Bolder now, Pazz ran his right hand along one of the spots. 'Crazy, it's like it's trying to say something,' he thought to himself. Seeing another person come along, he moved on towards the Browny Patchy Egg. A little more careful this time, he lightly tapped the egg on the top of it's shell. "Hello?" Ironically, the egg wiggled back and forth. This one seemed to be on the verge of making a clever comment or joke. Grinning from ear to ear, Pazz began to move on when he saw Rhi move towards a Teipet who had tripped. "Oops. Not the best of ideas there... Hope she is okay. You think?" Oddly enough, he was asking the egg.
