Lily frowned when she heard it would take him all day to fix it with help, which meant it would take him longer if she didn't help. She really had nothing better to do and she was could phone home and tell her parents she was spending a few more hours at the library.
Lily smiled when he asked if he could help her check out her book and nodded slightly, "Thank you, that would be nice."
She stepped back allowing him room to get down and turned to head for the check out, but stopped after a moment and looked up to Tony.
"I really do not have anything better to do. I really would not mind helping you finish. It would be my pleasure. I can stay and I can help but the book up to. I could even do the top shelves for you. It would get done faster with us both putting up books. Surely you do not wish to spend any more time than necessary on the shelving."

Tony shook his head, looking at her with a thankful expression, but also a look that said he wasn't going to be letting her help him. He felt a bit guilty, shaking his head slowly as he moved to the front counter and then around it to get to the computer.
"Honestly, I don't mind. It's just, ah... well. Honestly, I really would feel bad, making you help me, even if you want to. I do get paid for this work, which is a benefit to you, and putting the heavier books on the top shelves could be dangerous. If you got hurt, not only would I feel bad, but the library would be liable."
He shook his head.
"But I really do appreciate your offer. It's very sweet." He smiled, offering to take her book. "Do you have a library card? I mean, I'm sure you do. Ah. Do you have it on you?"

Lily watched the librarians expression change. It made her feel like she was pushing the issue and she decided that maybe he really did not want her help. It seemed she was simply not taking the hint very well.
When he spoke about her helping being a possible liability, her eyes went wide and she frowned. She had not though of that, as it had never been a problem at the animal shelter or in the community center, but she nodded to him anyhow.
"I most certainly would not want to get the library into any trouble, nor would I want to make feel bad. I wish you luck in getting all the books up and I really hope that you get some help."
When asked about her library card, Lily quickly pulled it out pocket and handed it offer along with the book. "Thank you for helping my check out Mr. Darrow. I hope you get finished you work quickly and that you arm heals up well."

Tony smiled, taking the card and book together, pulling it back and putting the book on the counter while he scanned the card in. Working with one arm in a sling was difficult, but at least he could figure things out and get things done.
He handed her the card back before he moved to check the book out.
"Thank you! I'm sure someone on staff will pity me enough to come and help, but honestly I don't mind the work. I really do appreciate the offer, though. And the help you already provided." He smiled warmly, reassuring, then stamped the book with the due date and handed it to her.
"There you go, you've got three weeks with it. Have a good rest of your day!"

Lily smiled brightly as she took her book, truly hoping that someone would help out Tony. It hardly seemed fair for him to do it alone. After all, even if he was being paid to do it, he hadn't been the one to make the mess.
"Thank you," she said, "I will. You too okay. Maybe even get in a few more songs."
Lily laughed lightly and headed out the doors to the library.
