jedinightwing Quinz J Morro stare We need to get hemp, not particularly marijuana hemp, Marijuana plants and hemp plants have different appearances and are harvested differently. Marijuana plants tend to be short and bushy, while hemp plants can have stalks that are 25 feet high! but edible hemp hemp legalized. So we don't have to buy it from canada and other countries that haven't illegalized it Marajuana should be legal though. It would cut down on a lot of trafficking along the borders. plus, if you legalize it, you can tax it like you would tobacco and alcohol, and there you go. However, this conversaition would be better suited for a different thread methinks Something tells me nothing good can come from legalization of weed, not with our current government in charge. I don't know if I could trust their cannabis, who knows what it'd be laced with.

Okay, I just thought I'd share with you some of the stuff I know about milk. smile
Liquid milk, directly as it comes from the cow and before it has had anything done to it, is called raw milk. Because raw milk may contain disease causing bacteria or other organisims, it is almost always pasteurized before being sold and being processed into other products. Pasteurized milk has been heated to 72 degrees celsius and held at this temperature for fifteen seconds to kill disease-causing organisms and then quickly chillded. BY LAW : All grade A milk and cream must be pasteurized.
Even after pasteurizing, milk is highly perishable. Some products are ultra-pastuerized to extend their shelf life. By heating the product to 135 degrees celsius for 4 seconds. This process kills not only disease causing organisms but nearly all organisms that cause spoilage.
Whole Milk is fresh milk as it comes from the cow, with nothing removed and nothing except vitamin D added.

Theres also been rumors of rBGH causing girls to hit puberty earlier and earlier and get their period sooner too.
Personally I'm a vegan but i used to be addicted to that s**t(pasteurized stuff). And I used t have cnstant migranes and headaches. Of course, i was drinking more milk than water and after going vegan I replaced milk with water and my headaches went away......
But i digress, my great aunt's son(great cousin?) said he had heard the same thing, so he only buys his daughter free range organic milk, which also sucks for the cow cuz when it DOES get sick, they can't use it to produce milk anymore or give it meds(because then it'd be non-organic) which is bull shizz. Just don't pump it for milk till the meds are outta it's system. >_>

True, but that's why there's calves. I digress, the whole industry sucks, whether you are against it for ethical reasons or for reasons like rBGH. :<

pasteurized milk doesn't STOP harmful bacterial contamination from happening.... I've read on the Weston Price site and others that raw milk actually has it's own good bacterias and properties that are anti-bacterial/etc and when we drink it we get the good properties passed to us too.. whereas pasteurized milk has MORE potential to be dangerous and could harbor bad bacterias.. (not to mention it has added chems and lacks nutritional value..)
I am from Canada though and I do wonder what our milk toxicity level is.. whether it is the same as in the States or not.. I have been looking at milk alternatives for a while now, and even into raw milk...
*shrug* just something to think about..
good thread.
I'm enjoying going through all the links/threads to see what I have and haven't seen before joining the guild smile
I'm surprised what is new to me! <3

actually raw food is better in a lot of cases nutrients are easy to bake such as calicum (know your nutrition- book a must own)
and healthy cows make healthy milk, and you know its bad for you when companys that arent even oroganic are boasting there milk isnt pumped with it....go to a subway to see what i mean

My Dad grew up on a farm where he milked cows everyday. He knows what raw milk tastes like. He doesn't buy milk from the stores since he thinks it tastes like crap. Good on him!
I'd love to find someplace close to where I live and try out raw milk. Great links!
