Taku had noticeably slowed as the sea came into view, allowing Laka to pass him as he instead took up a casual trot, veering to the left as he spotted the large, grey-and-brown shape of his mother in the distance. He was keeping away from the water - that was the whole reason he'd had to leave with Amanzi in the first place.
Azi had been spending the day with her sweetheart, Kaja. A nice walk along the beach had seen the afternoon melt into evening, and he'd now disappeared to find and gather their children before darkness engulfed the sky - her cubs knew well their bedtime, but that didn't mean they always kept to it.
Turning at the sound of hurried footsteps, finding herself faced with two lion racing towards the sea. One soon veered away, however, turning to face her. A very familiar face indeed.
"Takuma!" she gasped happily, standing and moving to greet her son. She met him with a nuzzle and purr, eyes shining with happiness. "What a pleasant surprise! How have you been, Taku?" Turning her attention to the female, she frowned. "Who's your friend?"

If she noticed Takuma slowing, she didn't seem to show it, slowing herself when she realised he had dropped back. It was only then that she noticed the female there just ahead of them. She knew who it was at once, partly because there was no one else around and partly because of the familiarity between them.
She drew up, somewhat shyly now, so that she was at Takuma's flank and dipped her head politely. "Hello, Ma'am. I'm Laka Subiani. Um..Laka. Just Laka." She paused, blinking as she cast a look at her friend, wondering what else she would say.
Ela'wadiyi lions were fond of their long introductions but somehow she didn't think such things were as important out here. "Your son is showing me around a little." She finished with a wide smile.

Taku purred as he nuzzled his mother fondly, his cheeks slightly red underneath his chocolate fur. He took a step back as Laka drew up, smiling brightly. "Uh, yeah. Like she said, this is Laka. I'm taking her on an adventure with me. She's from another pride - I wandered across it by accident on my way here from seeing Dad."
Azriell'Kyupe smiled warmly, inclining her head to Laka, seemingly ignoring her son, "Its a pleasure to meet you, Laka."
The longer names were something she recognized - she'd been told of the tattoo pride, although never visited it herself. The beautiful, intricate markings on the young lioness' legs were all she needed to confirm her suspicions. At the mention of an adventure, she rose an eyebrow in an amused fashion. "Oh, he is now, is he?"
Her warm smile returned. "Where are the pair of you going, then?"

"Uh huh!" Laka replied, the smile not leaving her face. "I wasn't allowed to leave the pride by myself, so Taku agreed to take care of me." She continued eagerly. "We planned to come here and visit you! Also, I've not seen the sea before. It's so pretty! We don't have a 'sea' where I come from. Just mountains. Lots of them."
She beamed and her forepaws padded the ground in a sort of kitten-ish excitement.
"But I'll have to go home soon, else my family might worry." But she was determined that this would be the first of many adventures.

Taku's cheeks were growing redder, although you couldn't see it under his dark fur. "Yeah, I'm gonna take Laka to see some pretty things. Uhh...like I'm bringing her here to see the sea. And I was going to take her to see this pretty waterfall, and this pretty firefly place."
He was embarrassed - although he liked Laka, he didn't like like her. He knew his mother would think he did, though, and she was probably just going to embarrass him loads. Perhaps coming here had been a bad idea.
"The sea is beautiful indeed," Azi agreed with Laka, her smile friendly and full of warmth. Looking up to her son with a slight glint in her eye, the old lioness chuckled, "It sounds like you're going to have a grand time, then. Just be careful, hmm?"
At the mention of leaving, Azriell'Kyupe scoffed, shaking her head, "You can't leave so soon! Come and dine with us tonight - the pride can provide for two visitors, I'm sure."

Laka nodded enthusiastically, clearly not knowing how embarrassed her friend was at that moment. "That's right!"
She bounced again, eager to stay and eat and get to know some of Taku's other family and friends here in this beautiful land. "We will be careful, don't worry!" She replied easily, trusting completely in her friend to know exactly what to do in all and every situation possible.
"I'd like to stay. Oh please, Taku, can we? Can we?"

Ohhh, the invitation of dinner was a nice one, and Taku was quite hungry. But the embarrassment his mother could provide him with, even in such a short space of time...was it worth it?
Oh, but Laka wanted to stay too. Frowning a little, he looked to his mother, then to Laka, then back again, before giving a defeated sigh, "I guess we can stay. Free food is always good, right?"
Azi chuckled - her same old son, ruled by his need/want for food. She smiled warmly to the pair, indicating the direction of the dens. "Follow me, this way. Kaja will have caught us dinner, I'm sure..."
Takuma followed his mother with his usual goofy grin, beckoning for Laka to follow, "C'mon!"

"Coming!" She called, rubbing against him briefly as she skipped across to join them. This place was much as she had imagined it, and more. She never would have guessed the odd scent of salty-sea in the air, or the music that the water played against the shore.
This land was truly magical and now she realised all the more how important it was to travel. To appreciate the beauty of all of the land and not just your little corner of it.
Laka was truly content.
