Rolling her eyes, Elegancia haughtily dumped her clutch purse open and let all the credit cards spill out on the counter before Anthony. "You didn't specify what kind of credit card. I've got unlimited spending on the Visa, MasterCard, all of them... Pick which one is most suitable for the library's needs." She flipped her hair and gathered everything else that had toppled out-- makeup, a checkbook, a chocolate bar, some feminine products (she scooped these up before anyone saw them), and some loose pieces of paper with random jottings on them.

Elegancia didn't look back at Sydney, but she heard her. "I go out often, thank you," she said flatly, "to places a poor girl like you will only read about in Reader's Digest, or something, while chomping away on your greasy McDonald's." She didn't look back once as she kept her gaze on Anthony expectantly.

"Anyways, I've heard enough from you," she added disdainfully.

Poor Tony was out of his depth. He let Sydney take the book, glad that part was settled, but now he had to deal with the fight that was still brewing between them. Hopefully neither leaped at the other, as he would have to jump over a counter to get to them. And he could only imagine which one could do more damage.

After all, Sydney had a skateboard. Her opponent, however, could have anything in her purse. How high were her heels? He'd heard some could be used for stabbing. Wait, why was he thinking about this?

Blinking, he looked at the credit cards, then up at Elegancia. "J-just... whichever one... you don't mind any late fees you incur being charged to? If you return everything on time and never lose or ruin a book, you won't be charged for anything." He didn't offer to help her clean up her purse, thinking it might do him more harm than good.

She was already mad at him.

"Ladies, please, let's, uh... let's just move on, shall we? I'll get your account set up, and Miss Martin, you're free to go. No need for all these... insults and uh... put downs." That's what they were called in school, right? It was his best effort to bring peace between them, though it was lame and now he felt silly.

Awesome.

Sydney wanted to smack this girl, really. Or at least run her over with her skateboard. This brunette had an attitude that the tomboy just could not stand! She warily eyed the spilled contents that were spread about the counter. Was one type of credit card better than the other? A credit card was a credit card, right? Using either one would be fine, especially for something as simple as getting a library pass.

“For your information, I go to In-N-Out Burger, not McDonalds,” she childishly retorted, tightening her grip on the book in her arms. “Oh? I sure haven’t heard enough of your idiotic nonsense. Why don’t you continue blabbering? I’d be so entertained.”

Huffing, she turned away after hearing Tony’s pleading. “I got what I wanted anyways, so I may as well as leave,” she grudgingly confessed. Turning back to look at Eleganica, she stuck out her tongue before sauntering out of the library.

“I can’t stand people like her. Really, staying longer to hear her talk? What was I thinking?” Sydney muttered with a roll of her eyes, disappearing out the doors.

"Okay, wonderful. Good bye," Elegancia said as she watched Sydney leave. With a sassy little hand wave, the lanky red-head was out the door. She thought of adding "good riddance" but didn't think it was worth the effort.

Everything that she had poured out of her purse was now gathered and in her bag, safe and sound and where it belonged.

She left every credit card out, and eyed Tony as he processed some information in the computer. "Are you almost done? Are the books I need even available? Because I will be seriously upset if I took the time out of my day to come down to this dusty old library for nothing. Especially because I wasted more time signing up for a library card-- one which I'll hardly use."

She began to tap her left foot impatiently.

Tony watched the two, very much relieved that things had worked out. Mostly? Yes, he could count that as a win for his Customer Service record, as he got out of there without anyone losing life or limb, or clumps of hair. He sighed, wishing he could have done more to make sure Sydney hadn't left upset. But he was sure he would see at least one of them again, so he could apologize to her then.

The one at the desk still, however, he was fairly sure would get someone else to return the books, just to avoid another hassle like this one. And he wouldn't blame her, really, as it seemed like a very good idea.

He hastily finished setting up her account, as if she were his boss and he needed to lest he get fired, and offered her the credit card back. He also gave her a library card, which he scanned in and put to her account. "That's a temp one," he explained, "I'll send you one with your actual name and information on it as soon as possible..."

There was a beat where he just stayed there, staring at her in some kind of fear or awe, then he nodded and moved from around the counter. "I'll get the books, and you'll be on your way," he said, hurrying to do just that. In record time he was back down at the counter, checking the books out to her and sliding them over the desk.

"I...is there anything else?" he asked, almost scared to. Really, he needed to stop letting himself get unnerved by teenage girls.

"No," Elegancia spat, "there isn't anything else." She gathered the books and flipped a stray curl over her shoulder. Elegancia couldn't be out of the library soon enough.

"Well, there is one thing," she added, "I think a rule should be added that stupid girls shouldn't be allowed in here."

With that thought, Elegancia turned her back and left Tony at the desk.
