"So it's just natural dislike." He nodded as if he understood what she meant completely. He at least understood not liking something because your instincts said not to. He loathed snakes even though he knew most of the ones he ran into couldn't harm him.
After a moment he grinned again. "I am sure there are lions who dislike hyena's for the same reasoning so it makes sense. There has to be some sort of balance"

Kataja cocked her head. "Natural dislike?" she echoed, as if it would make it easier for her to comprehend. Perhaps that was it, but still. It wasn't something she was happy with, but she wasn't going to go out and try to make friends with a lion. Just the thought of that tensed her muscles.
"I guess so," she said, her demeanor brightening. "Besides, at least we can get a meal from them, right?"

"Yes." He nodded with a lopsided grin. "They hunt and if we are in the right place at the right time we are lucky enough to receive part of that meal ourselves. So long as we are kind enough to let those who worked for the meal eat their fill first."
It wouldn't be right to steal a meal from a hunter without letting them eat. They had worked hard for it after all.

Kind. Right. More like, to Kataja, they would rip her head off if she got too close. So staying far behind and waiting was fine with her. She let her ears twitch and then flop backwards as she thought.
"Do you think....maybe....I could follow you a bit? See how it works?" She didn't want to screw up too badly, following a lion that was hunting around, and waiting for a meal. Maybe he'd have tips she could pick up, and sometimes it was best for one to learn while in a certain situation.

"If you like. I wouldn't be opposed to company" He nodded and continued to grin at her. It had been a long time since he'd been able to wander around with someone and the idea was wonderful.
"It gets so lonesome wandering around all alone." Company would mean that he wouldn't pig out on meals either. He'd have to share so he wouldn't eat as much.

She flicked her short tail happily. Now she would have company too, and not always be alone in whatever she did. Which...wasn't much, but it would definitely be better than being solitary.
"Thank you!" she replied happily, excited about this new page in her life.
