He was a Typhian.
Telma knew she had found her next "host".
"I don't really know," she lied. "I've been going back and forth between places as far back as I can remember. I think I was from somewhere in Typhia," she lied again, "since I had to cross the barriers a couple of times... But I show no loyalty to either faction, really."
Wow, could she lie.
But she didn't know the extent of his nationalism, and she needed him.

((sorry, for some reason it didn't post...))

Zandorn's politician skills kicked in for some reason, "I hail from there, but I wouldn't necessarily die for the government." He stated as he started over to pick up a trash bin to shove the glass shards into, "How about you? You hail to any organization in particular or are you on your own?" He inquired casually; let’s see where your allegiance is. he thought to himself

Telma had never found lying so easy. "Nah, not really with anyone. It's been me and whoever wants to pick a fight. You?"
She could sense him testing the atmosphere the same way she was. Well, she needed him to trust her, so let him take his time.

"Eh, in Typhia you learn to stick to your house and your house alone. I did have a couple friends but no one I really held on to closley. Part of the reason I left was for that reason, I figured I could meet some people I could acually get to know who weren't just haning out with me simply to figure out my parents' dirty secrets." Zandorn answered, "So no, my only loyalty is to myself and my house right now. Hey barkeep, can I have another? Yeah, I have enough money." He said as the barkeep gruffly asked for payment

Telma was unfamiliar with the term "house" and made a mental note to ask him later. Leaning the broom against the wall, she reached out to shake his hand. "Name's Telma."

Zandorn took it firmly with his hand saying very sereously, "a pleasure, my name is Zandorn, you can call me Zandi but then I'd have to kill you." he kept his face serious for a couple moments after he said this and then he smiled, "nah, just kidding, though it is a pet peeve of mine."

Telma made a face - the first honest emotion she'd felt all night. "People actually call you Zandi? Gross."
She was distracted momentarily by a fight breaking out on the other side of the room. For a moment she just tried to ignore it, but the two en-combatants got increasingly violent and she realized the safety of bystanders was at risk. She rolled her eyes. "Hang on a second."
Leisurely she made her way to the other side of the room, drawing her invisible gun out of its invisible holster as she did so. She reached the fighting drunks without much trouble and - a second before bringing the butt of her gun crashing down on one's head - she canceled the invisibility charm. She brought the now-visible weapon down on the other man's head as well, and walked away with them both unconscious on the floor.
She reached Zandorn again. "Idiots." She canceled the invisibility on her holster, put her gun away, and reapplied the charm with an unnecessary snap of her fingers.

[[{shrug} Nothing was happening, so...]]

Zandorn raised an eyebrow, "This place usually this tough?" He asked, "Two fights in one night? Either the drinks here aren't watered down or it's just tougher here because the town is built around a rift..." He smiled a bit, "Speaking of which I haven't seen it yet, evidentially it's a smaller one so not much nasty stuff comes through, I acually mainly came here to see it, wanna come with?"

[[JACKPOT!]]
Telma couldn't believe her luck! Here she was, thinking she'd have to bargain her way with this guy, gaining his trust inch by inch, when all of the sudden he comes out and gives her the opportunity she'd been looking for! Her superiors should give her a medal for this.
She tried to not look too excited. "Didn't really know there was a rift here, actually. Sure, I'd love to come."
'I would also love,' she thought, 'to know how much control or knowledge or interaction your country has had with these rifts, where your position stands with them, and what my country can gain from them.'
This was turning out to be an easy mission.

"Though, we should probably go in the morning, as though not to fall in or something, or at the very least to get a better view of the rift in the daytime." Zandorn said, "Shall I meet you here at the bar at say, 10 tomorrow morning?" Zandorn asked

Telma nodded and saluted. "Sure thing." And without a further word she turned and sauntered back to her room for the night.
Already a key to the rifts? Dang, this was too good. Her mind shifted to when she had been given the orders.
"We don't want Typhia to get an advantage over us."
"No sir."
"You must find out all they do know."
"Yes sir."
"Do you have any experience with rifts?"
"No, sir, never even seen one."
"Good. The more ignorant you are, the more unbiased you will be as you learn about them."
"Yes sir."

The next morning Zandorn got up bright and early and headed down to the bar, "Could I have a little something to eat sir? Some bread and water would do nicley" He said, sitting down at a table, "That'll be two gold sir" The barkeep shouted back, Zandorn grimaced, "Would Typhian credits be fine? My gold is stil up in my room." The barkeep sighed,
"that's a laim reason, go upstairs and pay me in some hard currency for heavens sake!" Zandorn sighed softly,
"Ok, I'll be right back down." Zandorn got up and went upstairs, grabbed his pouchfull of winnings from the night before and continued downstairs, "Here, two gold." He said, handing the man his due,
"Thank you sir, here's your breakfast." The barkeep said, accepting the gold and putting a plate with bread on the counter.

Telma watched him from the corner of the room, taking her last bite of bread and studying him carefully. It never hurt to reevaluate.
He seemed the same, though. And he was the best chance she had. Straightening, she walked over to him and tapped his shoulder. " 'Bout time you were down."
PostPosted: Tue May 25, 2010 7:19 pm

"Oh! Hey! How long have you been down here?" Zandorn asked, "Sorry, I slept in a little, my alarm ran out of batteries..." He scratched the back of his head a little, "So when I'm done with my bread should we be off?"

"Haven't got anything else to do," Telma commented. She sat down next to him and waited for him to finish.
[[... Sorry, short post, but I can't bring up a bar fight this early in the morning.]]
