Austerulous: My friend, partner, confidant, lifemate, muse, and fellow trouble-maker. I'm blessed to have the companionship of such a wonderful person, both online and off. Thanks to him, I ended up trying out this whole 'online' thing, and learned to adore all things technological.
Thanks, love... for everything.
Draconayzia: I've been friends with Drac for quite a while, and if not for her, I would have quite Gaia in late 2004/early 2005. She gave me tremendous support, inspiration, and introduced me to the Fa'e thread. Because of her, I decided to remain an active member of Gaia, and ultimately received my very own Fa'e (Gahainen).
karma_k: One of the most talented, funny, inspirational, and just plain outstanding people I've had the pleasure to meet online. Our sense of humor tends to occupy the same wavelength, which has led to some memorable inside jokes. The world is a better place with her in it.
8D
maskedquerade: One of the most driven, organized, generous, and intelligent people I've had the pleasure to meet online. She has been an enormous help, has an amazing gift for numbers, and an enviable ability to make order from chaos. If only I could bottle her skill... but alas, she remains one-of-a-kind.
Friskit_Geeba: Wild creativity incarnate, Friskit is the closest I've come to knowning to a real-life muse. She seems to just... breathe pure creative energy into everything around her. I'm blessed to have her as a member of the MEF community, and as a friend.
Sosiqui: Just an absolute saint- she is the very image of fairness, patience, compassion, good humor, and grace. Gaia is lucky to have her as a member of thier staff, and I'm very lucky to have her as a member of the MEF community.
Carda: An amazingly talented writer, level-headed, and just plain fun to have around. I'm very happy to have Carda as a member of the MEF community, and look forward to every new chapter he posts.
O_O *pokes for more chapters, then scurries away* >>
Lucifer Force: Gahainen's number one fan, and a constant source of inspiration and fellow horror fan squeeing. All in all, a bloody good fiend... er, friend. XD
MEF Lurkers and Community Members: A constant source of humor, inspiration, and support. Thank you all.

DeliveriesGiving and receiving.Moorgahaine Moorgahaine entered the building, a scaley green-yellow Cog rolling along behind them at a liesurely pace. The snail attached to said Cog had curled onto the inner spokes, to avoid getting squished by what it believed to be a blistering speed roll. Moorgahaine of the Spark sensed dimensional rift energies coming from the right corridor, so the trio made their way to its source, hoping to find the owner of the Fandangle (or at least the owner's guardian).
Moorgahaine of the Spark and Moorgahaine of the Reverie called out in tandem, "Karma, are you available?" The Cog gently bumped into the stopped pair, nearly dislodging its tiny rider (and nearly giving it an anxiety attack as well). The snail's shell twitched nervously, as the Cog wiggled about obliviously. karma_k Karma, for her part, was in the back office in the room she had built around the rift. Most usually she spent her evenings here an hour before closing time to get caught up on paperwork and to update case files, but there was none of that tonight.
She had arrived to find that the rift had delivered another "gift" for her in the form of a gelatinous grey-black ball which she quickly identified to be a fish's egg of some sort.
No sooner had it been placed in one of the temporary plastic water-filled tanks she kept in the room for just such emergencies than it began to shudder and contort. Unlike the usual eggs that came through with some incubating yet to be done, this one was apparantly ready to go.
It was currently still quivering in the liquid when she heard someone calling and pulled her rapt attention away from the tank. Immediately recognizing the voice as one that she knew, she brightened a bit "I'm in here. Come on in." she called to Moorgahaine.
Ordinarily no one was allowed admittance to the rift room, but she figured that if anyone could have appreciation for this sort of thing and be trusted not to muck things up, Gah could. Moorgahaine Moorgahaine followed the voice, stopping long enough to open the door for himself (or selves, as it were). They walked in and gave a proper bow, "Always a pleasure to see you, Miss Karma." The Cog rolled up behind them, stopping just short of bumping into anything this time. They looked down at the device, and then back to her, "We come bearing a gift for your little one- Arkanti. This Fandangle insists it belongs to him."
Moorgahaine of the Spark looked over at the rift energies, "Marvelous portal you have there, by the way." Moorgahaine of the Reverie nodded in agreement, while looking over to the tank (and its wiggling contents), "Very interesting, indeed." The Cog rolled closer to the tank, tilting itself slightly for a better view. The snail clung tightly to the outer edge, hoping the jarring movement would stop soon.
karma_k "Its been a long time." she agreed, getting up from the desk to approach and stop at a polite distance away from Gah as she regarded the green cog with a mixture of curiousity and chagrin. ANOTHER one? Her house was a favorite dumping spot of the press, it seemed.
"I wonder how it knows Arkie...." she said, blinking at the fandangle and then remembering her manners. "But thank you! I'll make sure he gets it. I'm sure he'll be thrilled."
It wasn't as though Arkie ever WASN'T thrilled, after all...this was someone who entertained himself by throwing the pickles off of his burger at the window of McDonalds and watching them slide down to the bottom of the pane while giggling like a fool.
At Spark and Reverie's acknowledgement of both the portal and the tank, she tried to explain herself. "Its been an interesting last few months...that's why I've not been by the forge much. See, I ran across this thing very randomly when it spat out a note that was wrapped around a baby platypus and--"
She didn't get to finish as, from behind them, there was a splash, making Karma whip her head around to regard the tank. "....and it looks like you're just in time to see whatever this one is come out to meet the world." she finished.
The egg, as if in agreement, whipped violently to the left, its gelatin coating perforated by what looked like a series of dark brown spines. It then dodged to the right, a small blue-white tendril unearthing itself.
As they all watched, what remained of the egg tore away entirely and, tumbling to the bottom of the tank was a small brown-black form. It laid there a moment, and then shook itself off, revealing spiny fins, and a maw of horrendously crooked and sharp teeth.
Darting to the side of the tank, it pressed itself up against the plastic, staring vacantly out at Karma and Moorgahaine with large blue-white eyes and seeming to grin an endless, disturbing grin with the way its mouth was distorted. Along its back and emaciated-looking arms, spots of blue shone out brightly against the its dark skin.
"....oh holy s**t..." Karma muttered under her breath, backing away from the tank as the baby angler fish darted back and forth along the plastic wall, gnashing its teeth and seeming to seek a way out of its rectangular prison. Moorgahaine The Cog skittered next to Karma, and then quickly behind her. For once, the snail was perfectly in agreement with the Cog's actions. Moorgahaine watched the newborn emerge with rapt fascination. They spoke in tandem, "Marvelous... simply marvelous." The lifeform was just stunning in its design- every part of it seemed to mix aquatic asthetics and function in a surprising way. Noting the newborn's desire to be free, Moorgahaine of the Reverie pulled a water sprocket card from his jacket, summoning the small device. The sprocket made a trilling "Bwsssheeeee!" sound as it manifested.
Moorgahaine of the Spark placed the Cog's controller and certificate papers on Karma's desk, "Here's the rest of the Fandangle delivery. According to the certificate, the Cog's name is Triton, and its spirit guide is a leviathan. Be sure to drop by the shop if anything goes wrong, or when you're ready to purchase anything for it. Triton will be a bit blank and robotic in nature until its built up with upgrade items." He then moved back over to his twin, marveling at the creature darting to and fro within the tank. karma_k Karma barely heard any of this, her eyes frozen on the monster in the tank. What Gah found to be marvelous, she found to be horrifying. Ever since she was little, she'd had a phobia of deep sea creatures...which, in a way, was ironic considering the source of some of the children she'd adopted.
Behind her, Triton peered out from behind one leg at the tank, seeming to not be eager to get any closer than he was.
Lovely...she had a hard enough time pushing off the cute and fuzzy ones on parents when her reservation list was full, how the HELL was she supposed to find a home for that...that THING?? Granted, her own opinion was biased and she was looking at it like any god-fearing christian might look after walking into their bathroom and finding Satan sitting on their toilet, but JEEZUS...
Those TEETH...!!
No one in their right mind would want to take that monster in except...
Karma's eyes lifted slowly away from the tank to Moorgahaine where the twins were studying the tank with rapt fascination.
"I...uhm....I know this is a bit sudden, but...." Great, how did you approach something like this lightly? It had been hard enough trying to gently bring it up around Terry and HE'D gotten a cute little raccoon girl out of the deal.
"My reservation list has been emptied out...I don't have anyone lined up to take this one..." She cleared her throat, completely oblivious as the snail oozed off of its jittering green counterpart for a moment to hide on her pantleg, grateful to have a stationary perch for a few moments. "And seeing as how I try not to keep the kids around here too long so that they don't form any attachments and make their adoption harder...um....well, you're here and all..."
She was trying very hard to sound like she was making this offer casually, and not like she was begging him to take that hellion in the tank OUT of her shop. Moorgahaine They nodded in tandem without a second thought (some would argue without a first), "Of course, of course. I would hate to leave the little angel without a home. We'll consider it an exchange, of sorts." They would think of a way to explain the new addition to Austerulous on the way home (and perhaps get a proper apology/bribe gift along the way).
The 'angel' darted around in tight circles, until she had gained enough momentum to launch herself out of the water and onto the rim of the tank. There, she wobbled on the edge, and looked around the room- snapping her jaws loudly while making gurgling snarls. Her blue-white tendril swung lazily in the air, leaving trails of light as it bobbed along.
Moorgahaine of the Spark smiled brightly, "Clever girl." Moorgahaine of the Reverie nodded in agreement, "Quite clever, indeed." karma_k Well, that had done it. Triton went careening under Karma's desk, away from the 'angel' that looked like it was reinacting a scene from some 80's horror B-movie. Karma, to her credit, did not flee the room screaming into the night as she wanted to and instead shrank back near the pile of cushions, blankets, and pillows that had been situated around the rift to catch the children that came through so that their greeting into this dimension was not a concussion.
Trying to save face, she reached randomly for one of the blankets, pulling up a smallish green one and edging toward the tank to offer it to Moorgahaine.
"Its...probably going to be a cold walk home." she said. "Don't...don't want it to catch cold or anything." Now that it was out of the water, glistening and dripping, Karma half-expected it to launch itself at her face and lay eggs in her chest. "I'll bring the adoption forms by the Forge for you in a couple of days." Moorgahaine Moorgahaine of the Spark accepted the blanket and quickly wrapped the little angel in it. She wiggled an arm out and reached out to grab one of the silver spider-like limbs that grew from his back. He moved the limb closer, and she proceeded to scrap her teeth along its surface with a grinding sound. He smiled, "Aww... she's already learned to sharpen her teeth."
Moorgahaine of the Reverie looked thoughtful, "Hmm... I think perhaps 'Angellica' would be a fitting name." Moorgahaine of the Spark nodded in agreement, "Quite so." Angellica continued to grind her teeth along the silver limb happily. They looked to Karma, "If we are not at the shop when you drop by, just leave the papers with a staff member. And thank you, for such a wonderful early Christmas gift! We do hope Arkie enjoys his as well. Oh! Did he receive the wand we sent?" karma_k Seeming a bit more at ease now that Moorgahaine had hold of the hellchild, Karma exhaled a deep breath. "Yes, he got it." she nodded. "He hasn't figured out how to use it yet, thankfully, but he's quite taken with the little passenger that came with it. I guess he never wrote you that thank-you note I harped on him to get done..."
It would seem that her adopted son was quickly growing a collection of slimy creepy crawlies and somehow it was fitting.
Turning to the desk, she made quick note of the name they'd chosen for the fish, wondering briefly how they'd known it was female. Moorgahaine Moorgahaine of the Reverie checked his pocketwatch and sighed, "Time to be getting back home. Austerulous is watching the little ones, and who knows what manner of trouble has been had by now." They looked over to Karma and gave a slight bow, "Always wonderful to see you- do drop by the shop more often, if you get the chance. And we're very glad to hear he's enjoying the gift. Perhaps Triton's little passenger will make friends with the wand's passenger."
Angellica had become fascinated with the hovering water sprocket, making several unsuccessfull attempts to grab it. The sprocket rolled along like a fast little wave- occassionally stopping to shoot a tiny jet of water onto the newborn. She happily chattered her teeth, which seemed to be her own unique way of laughing. karma_k "Come back any time." she told them, tilting a wave at each of Moorgahaine's selves and then, tentatively at the child. "We need to do some catching up one of these days." She DID miss her job at the Forge, but at least at this one lacked flurries of colorful sprockets to chase around every five minutes whenever a customer thought it would be cute to open a tube and set them free.
"And thank you. For everything."

HarbingerOffline rp transcription. Austerulous Moorgahaine made their way back into Casa, alternating the new bundle of joy between them. Austerulous met them at the door, nonplussed with the scene playing out before him. "Bringing home another stray mongrel, Moorgahaine?" he said softly, with a sneering expression. His lips stretched to a tight smile, "Or perhaps a new subject for me to vivisect and test for potion use?" Moorgahaine They sighed and shook their head, "Not as simple as that. You see, we've adopted this little one. Her name is Angellica." The subject of conversation chattered her enormous teeth in response to hearing her name. A water sprocket wiggled slightly within her right hand, unable to find a way out of the long-fingered prison... yet. Austerulous Austerulous pinched the bridge of his nose and reigned in his raging emotions, "We have three children already... well, four if you count Gahainen as a child, which I quite naturally do not. But now, thanks to your bloody fascination with these squirming larva, we will in fact have four to deal with. At this rate, we might as well open a damned orphanage!" Moorgahaine Moorgahaine looked thoughtful, "Well, that's not actually a bad..." The expression on their lifemate's face made them rethink the comment, "That is to say, we can make a blank clone of each one, and you'll have your subjects for testing. No higher brain functions though, you know how problematic that can be." Austerulous His ears perked a bit at this consession, "Very well. But, I want a blank clone of every lodger within the Casa, excluding myself and you two. I want complete access to all gathered genetic material gathered within the shop vats. And, I want absolute control over the resulting experiments, no questions asked." Moorgahaine They thought on this for a moment, "Everything is agreed to except one thing. You must keep full records of your work, and allow us to look them over at any time. Outside of that, we agree." Angellica watched the exchange with passing interest, and then resumed sharpening her long teeth on Moorgahaine of the Spark's silver spider-like limbs. Austerulous He nodded, "Agreed. In exchange, I will not question your want to bring such a motley band of larva and mongrels to Casa. However, I will require an absurd amount of bribing for any babysitting requests. Do keep that in mind." Austerulous looked over the new aquatic larva to be brought into the household, and thought that if nothing else, the blank clones would prove to be interesting specimen.

Moorgahaine's Journal Blinded by the light.
It seems Angellica's eyes are painfully sensitive to normal levels of light. Unless in near total darkness- light renders her eyes blind, and prone to excessive watering. Her eyelid membranes are very thin, so closing her eyes doesn't help very much. In the meantime, when in situations other than near or total darkness, I've taken to wrapping a silk scarf around her eyes, which seems to help the pain issue greatly.

Moorgahaine's Journal It puts the lotion on its skin.
We awoke to Angellica's ear-splitting screeching. It seems that her skin is unusually sensitive, and prone to drying out very quickly (and quite painfully). With a little help from Austerulous, we were able to create a set of potions and lotions to apply to her skin every day. It may take a few hours for the current flakes and cracks to heal, but her skin should be good as new by nightfall. It's a shame these Fourth Wallers don't come with instruction manuals- but they are rather fascinating creatures.

"T" Is For Toaster And that's good enough for her.
Angellica... tried to swallow the toaster. *faceplant* As a result, we've had to attach force shield coasters to the bottom of every appliance measuring smaller than twice the size of her closed mouth. It seems the whole incident started with Austerulous placing a couple toaster pastries in the device, and then informing Angellica she would not be given any regardless of how much she snapped her jaws at him. So in her annoyance, she decided to take both pastries and the toaster as breakfast. Thank goodness it had only been toasting a few seconds- otherwise, she might have gotten a nasty burn.
I can't believe she almost swallowed the whole ruddy toaster. *sigh*

"H" Is For The Hand That Feeds You And that's good enough for her.
I can now say I've seen Austerulous go flailing about like Daffy Duck. I always thought the "God of Frustration' (Daffy) and Austerulous shared certain similarities, but never thought I would see my lifebond quite as animated as the famous duck.
Angellica decided she wanted some of his tea, and as usual, he declined her request. So, she swallowed his hand- up to the elbow. My intrepid companion ran around the room in circles, flailing his arm about wildly as Angellica held on like a tiny rodeo star. After a fair bit of chaos, I was able to extract my adopted daughter's teeth from his arm. The wounds were needle-thin, and didn't require much in the way of healing spells.
Austerulous has taken to having his meals/snacks/drinks in rooms seperate from Angellica. Probably for the best.

That's Not A Happy-To-See-You Lick She's tasting you.
Angellica seems oblivious to the fact one of her playmates has moved away. As long as she has something to hunt down and stuff in her enormous maw, nothing else seems to phase her much (well, outside of bright lights and rough textures). I have to say that perhaps it's better that the move happened- that particular playmate always smelled strongly of sweets, and I had seen her sniffing at him in a rather predatory way on more than one occassion.
I really need to watch her diet more closely.

Growth Form: Baby-to-ToddlerRecord keeping OOC post.Your Name: Moorgahaine Your Child's Name: Angellica Growing To What Stage?: Toddler
Did anything of significance happen to your Fourth Waller that would reflect on it in later stages? (scars, tattoos, piercings, etc.) She was crafted a set of goggles by Moorgahaine. They look to be permanently implanted into the skin around her eyes, but are removable with the right spell. Here's a reference pic:
The brown goggles show how Angellica's goggles should be placed, and have that 'imbedded' look. The blue goggles are how her goggles should be color and design-wise. Her eyes are much larger than a human's, so the goggles are much larger to cover them. Her glowing eyes can be seen behind the goggle's dark lenses.
Her glowing markings are increasing in number and complexity.
What is your child's general demeanor for this next stage? (are they happy, sad, indifferent, what?): She is gluttonous, and loves nothing more than hunting down a tasty new treat. Her hunting skills and speed are improving, much to Moorgahaine's chagrin.
What kind of clothing is your child most usually seen in that you would like to have appear in their next stage? She has no noticable gender qualities, and usually prefers to run about naked (a fish in a sweater is not a happy fish).
What style is their hair worn in? She has fish spikes were hair should be, and it tends to look like a mohawk.
Are there any special accessories that are dear to your Fourth Waller that they are never seen without? If so, describe them. She has a tiny fish skeleton dangling from one of her front hair-spikes. She also has a necklace with a shrunken shark's jaw on it- surrounded by dangling bone fish hooks, coconut wood beads, and bone spikes.

The Gift That keeps on giving.
Austerulous got Angellica a present, after she let him take a blood sample without attempting to swallow his arm up to the elbow (again). She's quite taken with it, and despite its sharp edges, is careful not to poke herself. Poking others, however... that seems to be her new favorite pastime. Oh well, at least she's not trying to stuff the limbs of various residents down her throat as often.

This Little Light Of Mine I'm gonna let it shine.
Angellica is growing like a weed, and getting more active every day. She's taken to hunting for bugs and small animals throughout the Casa corridors. I've arranged for a steady supply of assorted insects and small animals to be present during her 'hunts', and that seems to have her positively giddy. Insects attracted to her luminous spots seem to be a particular favorite.
Austerulous conjured a large hoard of moths around her, just to see if she would be overwhelmed by the excited flutterings. Within a few minutes, she had hunted thier impressive numbers down to one sole survivor (and made short work of that one as well). Summoning tiny hoards around her seems to be his new pasttime now. Ah well, at least they're getting along a bit better now.

Got a call from my mom around 4am this morning- my dad had a heart attack. He's at the hospital, and his vitals are improving- so hopefully this means the worst of it is over. He's just gone in to have a heart cath test.
I'm heading to Houston soon to be with my dad, should be there in roughly 8-9 hours. I won't be back for a bit, so if you don't hear from me- that's why. Wish me luck on my trip, and see you all in a few weeks, if all goes as well as can be expected. heart Fandangle journal check is being moved to April 1, for what is probably a pretty obvious reason.
All of my breedable journals are on hiatus until I get back.
