She laughed as she slowly ate another apple, enjoying the bitter flavor of the tainted fruit. "They're my magic apples, Austin..." she giggled and ate the few last pieces of her apple, "I told you!"
She watched as the effects of the fruit started taking over. It was so funny to introduce new soquili to her orchard. "Now be careful... Too many and you'll be sick." she warned him with a slight slur herself.
"Now now, Austin. That's your fruit talking," she brushed off his compliment with a graceful smile. "You'll learn that you don't have a mouth filter after a few of these."

Austin smiled a goofy smile at the mare. He said with the most serious voice he could muster, "But I would sssay thhhat about youu no mahhtter thhhe circumssstancccesss." The slur in his voice just kept getting worse.
"Ssso, you ssssaid sssomethhhing about sssome othhher typesss of fruit? I wanto try thhem ahhll!" he said, moving his head in a circle. That was a bad idea. He felt really dizzy then. "Wa-woahh. Besst not do thhhat againn."
"Aarr thhherr aany maagic mangosss?" He asked her. Mangos were his favorite fruits.

Teq laughed at her friend, this was just too entertaining to her. She nodded her head and motioned for him to follow. "Thissss way!" she giggled just before snorting making her laugh even harder.
"Aw, Austin," she nudged him slightly.. almost tripping herself. "You're so sweet." she picked up one last apple as she lead them to another fruit tree. "I duun know what theeese are. What are mangooos?" her head tilted.
She knew there were different types of fruits in the area but she wasn't sure what they all were.

Austin laughed with her, especially at her snorting. When she brushed against him, a feeling went through him. He wasn't sure if it was from the fruit, or if it was something else stirring in him, from deep inside. He shook his head to rid his mind of the odd sensation, causing himself to lose balance. He stepped clumsily sideways, and fell against the tree she had led them to.
He smiled over at her. "I ssseem to have losst my balancce again. Whhy do I fffeel sssoo ffffunnnnyy?" he asked her, puzzled at this sudden change. "I don't fffeell too good." he added, "Maybe I should lie down." He lowered himself to the ground under the tree, and rested his head on the cool earth.
He remembered her question about mangos. "Mangosss are .... welll.... thheyy arree .... I ccan't desscriibe thhem. I'lll hhhave tto ssshow yyouu onneh day." He said. His head was spinning, so he closed his eyes and let out a deep sigh. He felt odd, but also, very happy.
The clouds from earlier had moved on, with no longer a threat of a storm. The sun had moved lower in the sky and would soon be reaching the horizon. A cool breeze blew through the orchard, rustling the leaves and grass.

She smiled and continued to laugh, "Don't worry. It'sss just the fruit." she watched as Austin lowered himself to the ground. Tequila had gotten sick the first few times she had run across the mysterious fruits herself. "You might not want anymore..." her words slurred slightly. "Might get sick,"
She walked a small circle near Austin before finally flopping down to the ground herself. "We'll wait a bit beffffore anymroe." she bobbed her head, grinning as widely as ever.
"Now remember...this is my ssssecret." she reminded him, though she doubted he would be in any shape to remember how to get back to her orchard.

He heard her lie down next to him and smiled. He opened his eyes to see the sun starting to set. He raised his head and turned to her. "Wwill yyou wwatch the ssunssett wwitth me?"
His eyelids were getting heavy. "Arre thhessse fruitss sssuppossed to mmake yyou sssleeppy?" he asked her. He gave a loud yawn, and leaned his head over on her shoulder. "I'm vverry glad I fffound yyou tooday Tteq. Thhiss wass a ssspeccial ddayy. And ddon't wworry. I'lll keeep yyourr ssseecrett."

Tequila just laughed. The effects of the fruit had already taken full effect. She just shook her head knowing that Austin wouldn't make it to see the sunset. "Good night, Austin," she smiled and nuzzled his shoulder. It was good to see her old friend again. She gently laid her head on the earth and closed her eyes. It had been a good day, and now, now it was time to sleep.

He smiled with the last thought before he drifted off to sleep being how happy he was to have found her again. He hoped to wake with her next to him the next morning.
It wasn't long before he was dreaming. Strange colors and fruits flying at him like leaves on the wind, but faster. He was running, trying to escape the crazy fruit. The next thing he knew he was being chased by the fruit which now had sharp snapping teeth. He tried to hide in a nearby tree, but the snapping fruit ate it's way through the tree, causing him to fall out. When he started to fall, he woke up. It was full dark now, with stars sparkling high above. He was breathing heavily from the nightmare.
In that state of sleep between dream and awake, he looked around, and didn't really know where he was, but noticed the sleeping mare still beside him. He smiled, and lay his head back on the ground. He fell back into a dreamless sleep. [FIN]
