Layla sighed, her side ached and her stomach grumbled, which made her grouchy, huffing to herself as all she could really do is look around. She was getting tired of waiting and was about to get up and leave, thinking he'd left her alone, when she heard something outside, laying her ears back and bristling her fur, she prepared herself for whatever came her way.

Pyros glided softly to the ground and pushed aside the covering to the burrow, only to be face to face with an angry looking female. "What's eating you? Here" he said, "Start with some fruit and veggies while I cook up some fish." He layed the fruit and veggies in front of her and proceeded to stab a stick through the fish after he lit a fire in the pit. He held the stick in his mouth as the fish roasted over a warm fire. He held them there for just the right amount of time, and wandered back over to her and presented her with the fully cooked food he had prepared. "It's good for you, now eat." He looked at her, wanting to ask her name but not wanting to seem like he cared too much...so he held off. He took a couple of the fish for himself, and leaving the rest to her. "Oh, don't forget to down those herbs, it'll help to heal you faster so you can get out of here. I'm sure you're itching to."

Sitting back on her haunches as the male returned, she licked her chops as she eyed the food he brought in, her stomach giving a painful growl, she daintily picked at the fruit that he put in front of her, before gazing, jaw agape, as he lit a fire and cooked the fish, now she WAS impressed, it seemed this male wasnt as uneducated as he had first looked. She took her share of the fish, hooking peices on one of her frnt claws before licking each peice of carefully, so that she didnt get scales or any other piece of fish on her nice neat fur.
Once she had finished she fastidiously cleaned her fur around her face, licking her chops again in satisfaction and to catch my stray bit of fish. When she'd done all that she fmially looked at the male again, "i suppose good manners require me to say this" she started "well, thank you mister ....er... i suppose you have a name?" she asked, not QUITE looking down her nose at him, but near enough to show she was still rather stuck up.

He looked at her, a bit surprised at her question. He didn't quite think she'd care enough to ask though he was indeed pleasantly surprised, and enough to go to his head.
Play it cool...he thought to himself.
He strutted up to her and coolly said "Pyros."
He stretched his wings out in an attempt to show off, and then neatly folded them back to his sides. He turned about, lifted up a corner of the mat, and kicked dirt into the pit but then abruptly stopped. He cleared his throat, "I suppose it's a bit chilly isn't it? Let's keep the fire going."
He curled up on the ground next to the warm, inviting blaze that dimly lit the burrow. It was growing dark, and the sounds of the night blended with the crackling of the flames. It was a sound that comforted him.
"Now why don't you come on over here and tell me your name, and I can wrap that rib for you."

Layla sighed, *thats an handsome name, and ... as rude as he is, he's rather good looking* she watched him flare his wings, smiling inwardly as she thought he really didnt need to have done it *those wings looks strong, and his horns are quite pretty* she thought, and vainly groomed her fur a little again. She laid her ears flat for a second as he appeared to be about to put the fire out, she was enjoying the glow, even if she was further from it than Pyros was.
Shivering a little at the sounds outside, she had never really liked the dark, despite herself she went closer to Pyros, knowing when it was the smart thing to do to be around 'lower' beings "ok, Pyros, manners dictate i should give my name since you gave yours, i'm Layla" she said haughtily, "it's only right you treat my wound since YOU caused it" she muttered under her breath

Pyros knew it was pointless to argue, so he let out a soft "Tch" and picked up the supplies he had gathered. He began wrapping her wounds, using the fluttering glow for light. He finished the wrap and tied it securely.
He could hear echoes of the past, remembering how he had wrapped another's wounds here...but to no avail.
He left Layla's side and sat across the fire from her. "You know looks aren't everything." He snorted with a laugh. "You look a but funny always fussing over that fur of yours."
He chuckled and rested his head on his paws, staring into the blaze.

Layla stood perfectly still as Pyros wrapped her side up, hissing a couple of times as it was still pretty painful, letting out a small sigh of relief when he had finished. She sat down and set about cleaning herself again, making sure every cream and lilac hair was dirt free and in its right place, she was annoyed to find she couldnt reach too far around her body, meaning her rear had to stay as it was, licking her chest she stopped mid lick at his words.. "Funny?! well, i may look Funny but at least i'm not a big dirty......MALE!" she said, knowing it was a lame insult but it was the best she could come up with right then.undefined

He laughed loudly at her insult, rolling on the ground. "I bathe once a day" he laughed, "that's plenty. You must have so much fun constantly grooming." He rolled his eyes for emphasis, and a grin rolled across his face. He walked over to her, and lifted up a corner of the mat on the ground. With that he flicked his tail and covered her in dirt. "have fun grooming that off. By the way, you're welcome for everything. You know, the food, the wrap, a place to stay. You don't even want to know what's out there at night. Shh, listen." He grew silent and within a minute, they heard a howl outside. "See? You wouldn't make it one night," he grinned.
It felt good to be needed again, to take care of someone. He looked at Layla, though she was finicky she was also quite stunning in the glow of the fire. He stared at her without realizing. He shook his head after a minute and remembered what had to be done at night. He puled out a vine that had one end tied to a side of the opening. He pulled it tight and tied it to the other side, and then proceeded to do so with about four others. "You never know," he said..."what will try to waltz in here while we're sleeping."

Layla huffed, she fluffed her fur up at him laughing, she HATED being laughed at, even though it happened alot, she turned her back on him. She jumped up, squealing "WHAT?! oh you ..you..you ... MEANIE!" she screeched, then he had the nerve to tell her to shush ... but he'd said listen to ... so she bit her tongue and strained her ears, shivering as something howled in the night ... something BIG.
Cringing closer to the fire, she watched the entrance, not realising that Pyros had been staring, she blinked in surprise as he drew some vines across the entrance "what are you doing that for?" she asked before she could stop herself.

"I just want to make sure we're safe, if that's ok with you." he said, after finishing criss-crossing the vines into a tightly strung web. "This will keep us in and anything else out." He glanced at her. "Aren't you a bit tired? I mean, after everything that happened today..." The hut was now fully enclosed, and Pyros was pleased with himself. After events of the past, he always made sure he was safe before going to sleep or resting in for the night. Now that he had someone to take care of, he wanted to be even more sure. He sofly walked over to her and plopped down. "I'm sorry, y'know. About the dirt." He brushed her off and then rested down fairly close to her. 'If we fall asleep, I just want to make sure we're close. Er, I mean, in case anything happens." he stammered, feeling his face burn red from embarrassment. "I hope you don't mind me here. I know you're not quite fond of strangers near you." Pyros grinned.

"I ..." she started to say something but it ended in a yawn when he mentioned being tired, "I suppose i am a little tired" she said, settling herself down near the fire, away from the entrance, sighing a little. *i guess this guy isnt so bad, not everyone would have brought an injured body to their private place, but... he put DIRT on me!* she mused, eyeing him as he got closer. she was surprised when he apologised abut putting dirt on her, and she held back a snappy comment when he brushed it off her, she opened her mouth to say something, .... but then shut it, deciding saying nothing was better right now, giving him a small glare when he grinned, just to show she wasnt going soft on him, even if she didnt mean it.

"Glare at me all you want, you're grateful and you know it." He turned away from her, and closed his eyes. As he was about to drift off his when his nose caught the smell of something outside, and his ears perked up at the sound of rustling. Pyros sat up, and stared at the doorway. He sat there like a statue, and whispered "Go to sleep, I'll stay up." He moved so that he was in front of her, as a sort of guard or block. "Did I tell you..." he began, "I used to live here with my mate." Unsure of why he was telling her this, he went on. "We stayed here for so long, it was like a paradise. But we were careless." He sighed, still unmoving from his spot in front of her. "Back then we didn't close up our hut like this at night, and we left the opening wide open. We never thought anything would happen...we..." he stopped for a second then continued, "we were just naive, and it cost my mate her life. I tried to stop the bleeding, to close her wounds, but it was just too late." He looked at her with a placid look upon his face. "Just be careful out here. It just as dangerous an anywhere else."

She held back a smile at his reply to her glare, closing her eyes and settling her head on her paws, she couldn't curl like she usually did, but it was warm so she didn't mind. Suddenly she was awake, noises outside she shrank back a little, then he moved in front of her, in between her and the entrance, she was about to ask why he'd done that when he talked about his mate *so THATS the other smell* she thought, her eyes growing wide as he spoke, tears glistened in them as she felt the pain he must have felt while trying to save her life, understanding a bit more why he'd looked after her "i'm so sorry Pyros" she whispered, more to herself than anything, feeling bad for her attitude, but she was too proud to admit THAT.

He grunted. "Don't be sorry, I'm not looking for pity. I just want you to be careful, what if I had been something horrible earlier? You could have been killed Layla." He found himself caring about her well being, but wasn't about to let her know. ''I saw you sniffing around here before. That's who you smell, but please- don't ask about her. She's gone and that's that." The noises outside had stopped, but more so in an eerie way. It was as if someone or something was right outside...waiting. He glanced around the hut. "Don't let that fire go out." he said sternly. "It's masking our scents..." He was whispering again. "And keep your voice quiet, the crackling of the fire will hide the sounds we make." He softly and quietly leaned over to the opening and made sure the vines were as tight as possible. He looked at Layla. "You may not think they're that strong, but these are some of the strongest vines you'll ever find. Especially woven like this." He took a long look at the opening and backed up, in an attempt to take his place where he had previously been sitting. "Like I said, watch your back around here. I'm not going to let another female die on my watch."

Layla blinked, he sounded like he actually cared if she was safe or not, she nodded as he asked her not to ask about his mate, hurrying to her feet as he told her to not let the fire go out, tossing a few sticks into it. She frowned a little as he told her to keep her voice down "i'm not the one talking" she said under her breath. She narrowed her eyes when he said his last comment, "so thats it is it? .. its not that you care about me, its that you dont want to be responsible again, is that it?" she said angrily, but quietly.
