summary; Perry finds an erotica novel in a weird shop advertised to him on the radio. It's free and he needs something to read on the train the next day so he takes it.

Everything in it's place.

The rain had predictably gotten harder on the drive home only to miraculously stop just as Perry pulled into his garage. That was the sort of luck he was having lately, well aside from the free book and mildly disturbing bookmark. The weather, his social life and work all seemed determined to taunt him these days. Still, Perry Steinmen was stubborn and while he wasn't one for generally looking purely for silver lining he tried not to mope or brood because that rarely helped situations either. For the moment there was nothing to do but curse the finicky weather and try and enjoy the rest of the day.

Perry considered finding an alternative jacket for the book on the train ride tomorrow, he really didn't want who was sitting beside him knowing what he was reading. Not that he thought people should be sexually repressed but ah some people were and the things they'd think and possibly say were worth the effort to disguise the novel. At least he was a man in enough control of himself that the content of the book wouldn't cause any issues. He'd seen that once, some teenager none too subtly shifting in his seat while reading, well probably not reading, playboy.

For now though the future reading material found a home on the fireplace mantle next to the small lapiz lazuli and Jade globe, Claire had given him after her first big paycheck. Several mementos from people'd he'd 'discovered' were placed in honour on the mantle and while waves of love was not exactly a cherished item it did still tug at Perry, still drew his eyes to it in an odd way and it felt right there at least for now.

Stomach growling a little Perry turned and headed towards the kitchen to fix himself some food all thoughts of the book pushed aside by more urgent things.

Congratulations it's twins !

Perry had just hit the on button on his new stainless steel blender, metal blades slicing and dicing up chunks of ice and several different kinds of fruit with a soft whirrr, when there was a crash and then the howling of someone or something that was in obvious pain from the living room. Perry froze wondering what the hell had just happened! He wasn't all that keen on investigating either but something was in his house and he was going to have to deal with it, or at least identify it before locking himself in a safe room and calling the cops.

Grabbing a nearby red handled broom as a weapon, if a piss poor one at that, Perry ventured from the kitchen and towards the source of the wailing sound. The man's blue eyes were narrowed and darted about trying to catch a glimpse of what awaited him as soon as possible. Said blue eyed instantly widened in shock though when he spotted the reasons behind the crash and crying.

There, on the floor in the wreckage of the mantle, with his precious things scattered and broken about them, were two small children both of them sobbing and poking at tiny cuts and scrapes.
"Where the hell did you come from?" Perry hadn't left any windows or doors open and neither kid looked they could fly and.. ********.

Lying on it's side in front of the pair of toddlers was his new book, only it was completely devoid of colour, no yellow on the pages no colours or gloss on the cover or on the bookmark that had been in it. That he supposed explained where they'd come from and Perry thinking back on how he'd gotten the book now understood the reason there were no exchanges and returns. Well wasn't this a lovely bait and switch.

Suddenly the wailing stop and two pairs of tear filled eyes stared up at Perry. One a rich aquar belonging to what Perry thought was a boy with black wiggly dreadlocked hair and dark blue oh-god-were-those-tentacles! coming from somewhere behind him. Not the weirdest kid Perry had ever seen but not exactly what he'd planned any of his future offspring to look like either. The boy also had a couple cuts and scraped reddening his otherwise fair skin. Perry would have to deal with those in a minute, he was decidedly not ready for this but the least he could do was patch the kids up before taking them to social services.

The other pair of eyes were a sort of reddish orange that reminded Perry of a sunset or some sort of tropical drink he'd forgotten the name of but that had tasted wonderful. That however was about all that was tropical on the other child which looked like a girl to him. This one had purple hair and long floppy ears, more like a rabbit less like a basset hound but who knew for sure? She too had tentacles but these were a dark violet similar in colour to her hair and the fur on her ears Otherwise she seemed fairly normal looking and quite pretty, the sort that Perry would usually shuffle off to the 'other' division at work to see if they could do anything with her.

A small part of him thought for just a moment that maybe he ought to keep the kids or at least her, but then images of bratty cousins and intolerable nieces and nephews flooded his mind and any parental or manipulative urges he might have felt were gone. He wasn't ready and it wasn't worth it.
~
Hours later found Perry tucking the as of yet unnamed pair into bed together in the guest room. A call to social services had left him unwilling to just hand them over to those people. He might not be the person best equipped to handle the care of two unexpected children but he was at least going to take a crack at it before abandoning them like unwanted pets. It might have been his plan before but Perry had at that time believed they'd be going somewhere better, the call had made him doubt that. So for now the twins were his and while there was going to have to be a lot of rescheduling and concessions on all sides Perry figured it was the lesser of two evils.

Choo Choo !

warning: multiple pov changes ahead

"Noooooooo, Noooooooo," For all that she was less than a day old Riley had managed to master her first word and she was very very good at using it. Right now rather than just mumbling it for the sake of talking the tentacled bunny girl was putting it to good use. There was no way she was going on the ' train' and she was going to let the whole world no that at the top of her lungs. All the while her arms and tentacles hugged the back of the chair she'd been sitting on keeping her from being pulled any closer to the horrible thing.

This train was an evil thing and nothing like what her daddy had showed her earlier. It wasn't pretty or shiny and no one was waving from windows. It came from nowhere and made the earth shake and it was so loud and ugly and no one smile while they got off of it the just hurried away like there was something bad inside. Riley liked to investigate, she'd been all over the whole house already and even under the beds but she was not going in the train, no way no how.

Of course tentacles and arms side Riley was no match for her daddy and he just picked her up by the middle and then she was in the air and her hands and tentacles let go of the chair because ouch it hurt to hold on. " Noooooo," she wailed plaintively. Didn't her daddy realize this was the wrong train and it was not going to take them to ' work' but to some bad place, whatever a bad place was other than dark and loud.

"Riley please," her daddy was making that sound again, the one he made when he scrunched his face up and let all the air out of his chest with a whoosh. " It's okay it's just a train like I showed you, it can't hurt you and you're scaring people."
Riley only understood about half of what her daddy said but got that the general meaning behind it was stop. The young girl pouted and crossed her dark purple tentacles behind her back. Okay fine she was going on the train but she wasn't going to like it and as soon as they were at `work` Riley was getting off the evil train as fast as she could.

~
Cole didn't have any idea why his sister was so upset, the train seemed neat enough if sort of loud and as soon as they were on it he liked it even more. There were funny lights on the ceiling and also on the floor. There were seats all over the place and poles and more people than Cole had seen thus far in his life. As he sat in the seat his daddy pointed out to him the boy noted that the windows were kinda grimy, not like at home, but that just meant he could draw stuff in the dirt which he promptly proceeded to do. He pressed previously clean fingertips to the cool glass and dragged them back and forth making jagged little zigzags that ended in swirly curls and other such random and childish designs. Easily entertained and less high strung than Riley, Cole was easily entertained even if his entertainment was earning him an unobserved look of disapproval from his daddy.

The tentacles that made up his hair wriggled a little now and again as if to remind them then were up there. Each strand was really a long black mini limb that reached to his shoulders. They weren't as strong as the blue ones on his back but a couple had almost stolen the cloth this morning when he tried to clean them. Aside from being protective of them because they were sensitive Cole wasn't entirely sure what to make of his weird hair but for now it didn't matter much.

~
Perry sighed softly and hoped that Riley would settle down by the time he got to the auditions. It was going to be weird enough having to take them there was it was and ask them to sit through hours of people walking back and forth but it was necessary. The last thing he needed though was his daughter having a fit while he was supposed to be working. Although she seemed to be calming a little either from the knowledge that the train hadn't hurt her yet or the fact that one of her brother's tentacles was petting one of her ears. Whatever it was Perry was glad it was working. Loosening his grip on the girl a little the tawny haired man reached one hand up to brush against the soft purple fur of the other ear. Instantly he noted a change in Riley's posture and felt her relax. Interesting, he'd have to keep this trick in mind for later then.

Early education

Cole lay stretched out, belly down on the living room floor. His small aqua eyes were focused on the strange shiny pages before him. They were from a 'teaching' book, something that was supposed show him how to understand letters so they were more than just funny squiggles to him. Cole wasn't sure why this was important, after all he had his Daddy to read letters for him and reading in and of itself didn't seem all that interesting to him. Still, the toddler had been told he had to learn this stuff and have been given the special book and a funny plastic pen that went with it. Cole wasn't sure if it was the pen that talked or the book but when he put the pen on the paper there were words and that was at least a little exciting.

Moving the hand that held the milk coloured pen Cole pressed it to a picture on the paper and waited for the mystery voice to appear. "N, nest begins with N." Hmm, okay N came after M and though they looked close N had less lines. Looking at the pictures again Cole skipped over several lines of letters to the one that looked like a sideways N at the end " Z, Zebra begins with Z." Z didn't sound anything at all like N even though it was just a sideways one. Tiny white teeth chewed on a small lower lip as Cole moved his hand again curious about if the upside down M could sound the same. "W, water begins with W." Nope it seemed that although M and N looked sort of the same and sounded sort of the same that didn't carry over to the letters that were just them in other positions.

Lost in his own little world of discoveries Cole hummed to himself while trying to make sense of the world of letters and their shapes and sounds.

~
Not nearly as passive as her sibling Riley was furiously filling in big bubble letters in a colouring book. Her daddy would tell her a letter and the sound it made and then the rabbit ear girl's hands and tentacles would be a blur each one scribbling blotches of colour into the letter bubble. Riley wasn't exactly learning the shapes that way but she was having a lot of fun, way more fun than Cole she thought. "Done," she crowed as the last traces of white disappeared under a barrage of waxy crayon smears. " Next please," please was a very important word Riley was learning, you got things faster and with smiles if you used it.

~
Perry smiled and nodded " Okay the next letter is Q." The man repeated the sound twice until Riley nodded and began to colour, at that pointed he turned his attention over to Cole to check on his progress. Other than a soft hum and the sounds from the leap pad system it was rather quiet over in his corner of the room. Then again Perry had noted Cole himself was rather quiet and subdued, not lethargic but not nearly as active as one expected a toddler to be. It was why the man had opted to let him use the leap pad to learn with at least for today. Tomorrow or the next day when they reviewed the alphabet he'd make him switch though because colouring was good for coordination or something like that.

Though he was well versed in the simplistic things the children were learning when it came to parenting Perry himself was still much a novice. A lot of this was going to be trial and error aided by books and online forums to help guide him in the ways of not killing your sudden three year old children. That and Perry had a lot of decisions to make still, private or public pre- schools, religious teachings or not, special diets and after school ports or did he just let them do as they pleased? It was , as far as he was concerned, a lot easier discovering talent and managing it , finding a diamond amongst coal and polishing it, than it was to raise another person in a way that you hopefully wouldn't regret.

In the future there would be a great deal to learn for the entire Steinmen family.

Midnight snacks

"What the hell is going on here?” Perry stood in the kitchen, hands on his hips and a scowl affixed to his face. Not for the first time he regretted his inability to lock the twins in their shared room at night. He couldn't even leave them alone along enough to get in a proper nights sleep without some sort of chaos occurring. It wasn't fair, especially since the man didn't recall ever being this much of a hassle to his own parents. Baby gates, Perry thought as he stared down at the mess that was the kitchen floor, he was going to have to break down and bear the shame of installing baby gates.

It was the middle of the night and Cole and Riley, the pair of them now staring up at him, sat on the tiled kitchen floor in front of the wide open fridge, it’s contents were scattered about the floor around them. A myriad of mostly liquid things were being slowly combined inside a large white mixing bowl that rested between Riley's crossed legs. Her dark violet tentacles were dipped into the concoction and they stirred it together, causing the ingredients to mix with a disturbing sloshing sound.

Soft, warm, orange eyes stared up at Collin filled with glee. “ We making breakfast for you." Riley explained. Cole nodded innocence shining in his right blue eyes, dark tentacle dreadlocks wriggling in his excitement. "It's gonna be good," the boy promised. If it weren't for the fact that Perry could see eggshells and handfuls of butter floating in ice tea he'd find the situation mildly more heartwarming. It was cute to be sure but it was also a colossal and somewhat disgusting waste of food.

~
Journal log for may eighteenth, two thousand and ten:

Baby gates , it is unfortauntely time to invest in some. Though the twins were being cute and pretty much harmless they still managed to make a mess last night. They got into the fridge and mixed togeather a bunch of stuff though should never ever be combined in any sort of way that's meant to be eaten. I'm only thankful they didn't actually make me eat it and that they themselves didn't sample any of it and get sick. Either way access to the kitchen needs to be blocked so there are no more night time kitchen excursions.
Also I'm sure it probably wasn't wise to bath the Cole and Riley before sending them back to bed but it wasn't as though I had much of a choice. I tried to dowl and bowdry them clean as much as possible, well more towel for cowl and blowdry for Riley, but they still head damp hair and tentacles when I tucked them in. Perhaps it's a good thing they're going to the doctor tommorow, he can pick up on any illness about to happen.
Truth be told I'm not really looking forward to taking them for shots and checkups. I want them to be healthy but ah doctors visits as a kid were never fun from what I remember and this will be there first. Plus there will be all that sitting in the waiting room filled with people who are always carrying a dozen germs and don't know how to cover their mouths when they cough. Mostly though I'm just hoping they behave themselves and don't freak out over the needles. I wonder if they still give suckers if you don't cry? I'll do my best to prepare them before hand but there's so much that could go wrong especially with those tentacles at play I'm not sure if they have minds of their own or not.

Here's hoping tomorrow isn't a disaster, perhaps I should call my parents and ask for some advice? On the other hand I've been avoiding telling them about this just yet and that would be an awkward conversation,' hi congrats on becoming grandparents and by the way how to I keep a three year old from screaming bloody murder when they're getting booster shots?

This is going to get harder before it gets any easier isn't it?

~
While her father wrote, Riley slept peacefully and dreamed of a magical kitchen were food danced and then made it self into tasty things to eat. Lost to her dreams the long eared bunny girl grinned as she lay sprawled on her back on the shared bed.

Beside her Cole snored softly, contented though he had no dreams he would remember in the morning.

Doctor Doctor

"I'm bored," Riley whined softly as she slid coloured beads along twisting and turning wire paths. Bother her hands and tentacles were in motion and though the lop eared girl declared her boredom the task wasn't entirely easy for her. Moving the beads around was difficult and she didn't quite have enough coordination or dexterity in any of her limbs to do it really well. Still, Riley wanted to do something fun and the beads were quickly boring her. Why did they have to wait so long to see the doctor? Not that she was really excited bout this doctor person. Apparently he was gonna give her needle things that would pinch and do other stuff that didn't sound any fun at all.

Soon enough Riley discovered that while her doctor smiled nice she was definitely weird. While her Daddy and Cole were seated in chairs a few feet away she was up on a weird table thing with some sort of crinkly paper on it. " Why is there paper on the table?" She asked trying to ignore the fact the doctor was shining a light in her ear and looking at it. What could be happening in an ear, nothing went in there except air and sounds and sometimes water in a bath.

The curly haired doctor, Miss Belgia, laughed " It's to make a clean surface to examine you of because germs can stick to the actual table itself." She touched a bit of teal blue plastic fabric peeking out from under the wax paper " and we'd have to stop and wash it all the time otherwise and then you'd have to wait even longer."

Riley would have nodded but she didn't want to move her ead with that light thing in her ear "Waiting takes a long time but you should get quieter paper." It wasn't horribly loud but her sensitive hearing did amplify the noise.

The checkup continued and Riley discovered that she needed to clean in her ears more or wax, like the stuff in her crayons on brown and gross, would build up and she could get sick and stop hearing. She learned that doctors you lights a lot to look at things and that tongue depressors look like Popsicle sticks but taste boring and that Cole makes a funny face when he was one put in his mouth. The toddler discovered where exactly her heart was and was pleased to be allowed to hear it. Riley thought heart beats were funny sounds but she sort of liked them and wanted a heart listening thing of her own so she could listen to her heartbeat and Cole's without having to go to the doctor.

There had been bad things too though, Riley hadn't liked when she learned Cole was taller than her by just a little bit or when a funny cuff had been put on her arm because there's been a weird whooshing sound and it'd begun squeezed her and hurt a little. Also the needles hadn't been nice either both of them pinched and her arm still felt sore where they'd gone in. Riley though she'd much rather be sick, even if she had never been that way before, than have needles. A lemon flavored sucker was only so much consolation and only lasted so long.

" There's too much waiting" she declared later, the purple haired girl skipping towards the car, happy to have a few moments of fresh air and sunshine as they crossed the parking lot. " We have to wait in the big room full of people to get in and then wait in the room and then Miss Belgia has to do all those tests and then I had to wait for her to do them on Cole and it was just a really long time." It was almost lunch time if her stomach rumbles were right.

Her daddy laughed, squeezed her hand and smiled down at her "That's life Riley, lots of waiting for stuff to happen.

Riley frowned for a moment then shook her head " Not my life, I'm not gonna wait anymore." Mind made up the girl tugged her hand free from her daddy's then raced for their car. No more waiting, never again!

Clowning around

The temperature inside the main tent was uncomfortably warm for this time of year and the air was thick with the smell of popcorn and sugar. Still the crowd clapped and cheered happily for Dana the animal tamer and her three big cats which balanced on balls and jumped through hoops of fire. In general the atmosphere under the big top was electric, the audience pumped and the performers both animals and more than ready go. So far it had been quite the entertaining experience for the Steinmen family.

Perry had had to veto the idea of having tigers and lions as pets and he wasn't keen on buying the twins trampolines so they could becomes circus stars but all in all he was pretty happy. Both Cole and Riley seemed to be enjoying themselves babbling to each other and him while clapping at the appropriate times. It seemed that the old family tradition of trips to the circus was still applicable. Sure they didn't learn anything and pogos and popcorn wasn't a proper meal but what the hell a little bit of indulgence was worth the memories that could be created by the experience.

The big cat act ended and Perry clapped and waited to see what would be sent out to them next.

From behind a curtain Came a female clown in a patchwork outfit with red face paint on and a curly lime green wig. and ready for her act. If perry remembered what one of his colleagues had once told him that meant this woman was an auguste style clown , she was the one who'd take the pies to the face, make the silly mistakes and generally got the short end of the stick during performances. Perry thought they were always the types of clowns the crow sympathized with the most and yet despite that he'd never want to be one. Maybe it was a flaw but he had too much pride to let himself be the person being laughed at all the time, to know he would never win.

A few minutes later though he was focusing more on the impressive juggling skills of the clown. That was something going to a circus had inspired him to try once, he was terrible at it, unable to ever find a rhythm and most likely to hit himself in the face or head with the balls. It made him a little nervous to see Coley and Riley's tentacles mimicking the juggling motions , what if they wanted to learn! He'd have to buy some of those squishy nerf balls and make them do it outside for sure.

Suddenly into the center ring walked another clown dressed comically and yet with a more regal look to him. He began to order the first clown to do all sort of things, like hop on one foot or spin in a circle while still juggling. He seemed to be trying to make her falter but only succeeded in making her look more talented if silly with each task given. The audience laughed, obviously interested to see where this would all go. Perry had to admit that for all that theses were 'circus clowns' they were also incredibly talented people.

" I bet I could do that" Riley whispered to Cole.
Perry looked over to see the dark haired boy look doubtfully at his sister though he did not respond. Ahh he was a smart one, now was not the time to start a fight.

The act progressed to the one where the male clown was lobbing balls at the female one who hit them back at him with a big red kiddy baseball bat. Their rhythm was steady and in a way it still looked like they were jugging. Then came the surprise when the female clown spun around around on orders to make things more difficult between swings and a mysterious extra ball was pulled from Terrance’s pocket. Perry didn’t really get a good look at it before it was in the air and the other clown was swinging for it with all her might.

Fwoosh

The ball turned out to be a water balloon that broke upon upon contact and splashed the female clown who looked utterly confused.

The crowd laughed, Cole and Riley cheered wildly and the two performers bowed. It had been a cute little thing really and while Perry preferred the majesty of the big cats and the heart in his throat antics of the aerialists he still thought things like this were why clowns were the first thing you though of when you thought circus.

Dust and dough

Perry bustled about the house a multi coloured plastic duster in hand. While he did have a cleaning service come in once a week to do a major clean of the place he wasn't above doing simple things in between visits like dusting or vacuuming if he noticed an immediate need for it. The fact that watching him wander around with the duster had inspired Cole and Riley to go clean thier room , which would probably end up messier as a result he was sure, certainly didn't hurt either. Teaching them to pick up after themselves and keep their room tidy at this age had to be better than fighting with them over it when they were older and used to having things done for them. At least that was the way he had been raised.

Cleaning regularly was also important because childproofing the house fully was impossible and putting up putting up gates only did so much; especially since they'd taken to trying to climb over them already. What couldn’t be safety locked, stored away or blocked off would be carefully watched anytime the twins were near a potentially dangerous space or item. However it was only be cleaning the house and reacquainting himself with all the little nooks and crannies that Perry would know when extra attention was needed.

It was more things Perry had to worry about as well rather than surfaces, between himself and the cleaning service dust and grime rarely had a chance to settle on any surface long enough to be potentially dangerous. So while Cole and Riley did occasionally crawl and place their hands on everything and then lick them, why oh why did kids do that, there was very little chance of them picking up germs. Also little chance of them getting sick from the cleaning products themselves as Perry had, with a bit of complaint about the price, switched to environmentally and kid friendly solutions. Not it was things like electrical sockets and wires that Perry had to be concerned about.

Later that day
~
Slowly, ever so slowly Cole pressed down on a palm sized blob of bright yellow play-dough. The strong smelling putty yielded to the pressure of his hand and flattened causing the little boy to grin. Cole liked how the dough did what he wanted it to do. All he had to do was push on it or squeeze and he could force it into any shape he wanted. Not that he was really trying all that hard to make anything in particular. Mostly he just liked the way it squished between his fingers and how he could see all the lines from his hand in it afterward. The lines interested him they were different on each hand and different from the ones ones Riley's and his father's hands though they all had some. He wondered what they were for but kept forgetting to ask. Even now his mind was more interested in squishing the dough than in asking the question.

~
By the time Perry had put the twins down for their afternoon nap he'd decided there was to be no more play-dough ever! Sure the kids made cute hand prints in them, which reminds him to get one of those cute plaster hand print and foot print sets before they get bigger, but they had also made a mess of epic proportions. Somehow in the time it taken him to piss Riley managed to nearly coat her ears in the stuff and every one of Cole's hair tentacles seemed to be mushing a piece. The red play dough that had ended up dotting their skit had even given him a quick panic attack about chicken pocks before he realized what it was.

The formerly clean kitchen floor had been littered with bits of putty but the play mats they'd been working on at the table were practically spotless. This had lead to seconding cleaning of the kitchen during which neither twin was any help and then a second bath of the day for the toddlers as Golden clay streaks looked horrible in purple hair and non toxic or not Perry didn't want that to stain in amongst other things. The water was disgusting afterward and the fur on Riley's ears still seemed a bit off but eventually they'd been deemed clean and sent to bed.

Now during the two hours Perry should be doing paperwork the man was stretched out on the couch having a nap of his own exhausted from what really should have been a fairly casual morning.

PD with Ama

The beach was fine for most children, they enjoyed playing in the sand, going into the water, shreiking and giggling as seagulls tried to steal their icecream treats. True enough for most toddlers...but this one..with pale skin and white hair, she merly was peering into a tide pool a stick in hand poking at a sea anename. Watching as it flailed at the pokings.

Father and brother were enjoying themselves within eye and ear shot but left the little girl alone for the most part. Unlike her siblings she very much enjoyed her alone time.
She watched as small fish darted around, trapped in the pool unable to escape her prodding stick. Ama wanted to try and catch one, but at the same time she didn't want to get wet.

Quote:
“ Stay where I can see you,” Perry called out in vain. The man could no more stop Cole and Riley from disappearing down the beach than he could prevent the tide from coming in. Still he was trying to be a good parent and he would keep an eye on them as best he could while enjoying the sandy shore himself. By the time they got tired and returned he’d have long since set up all the towels, umbrella, cooler filled with snacks and would likely be reading the new mystery novel he’d bought. A novel he had been assured would not magically turn into children.

Riley gave a squeal of glee as she ran as fast as her little legs would carry her towards the water, long floppy rabbit ears smacking against her shoulders and back as she ran. The beach was the best place ever, it was warm and cold and squishy and a million things all at once!

Cole trailed after his sister at a slightly slower pace, he had somehow ended up being the one to carry their buckets , shovels, nets and sand moulds even though he didn’t understand how. Even with the help of his tentacles the aqua eyed boy struggled a little with the extra burden.

Her ears flickered as she heard approaching figures, Ama was wearing a simple bathing suit of deep purple. It contrasted nicely with her white hair and white furred tail and ears. She couldn't help but growl, this was HER pool. HERS. Of course she relaxed when she realized it wasn't Manami...even so she was wary of the new children.

Her attention went from the boy who was burdened down with buckes and pales to suddenly latching onto....the girl. Her heart lept a bit with excitement. BUNNY. Her fox like instincts compelled her to come down from her pool...bunny bunny bunny bunny. So intent was she on the girl she didn't realize she had shifted and become a boy.

Quote:
Riley’s bare feet dug into the warm sand and slipped only a little as she raced towards the water and oh hey who was that over there? The purple haired girl stopped thinking about the water and how many sea shells she was gonna collect long enough to notice a fluffy tailed girl headed her way. “Cole look it’s a fluffy girl.” She reached out to point with both an arm and lavender tentacles sending her off balance and face first into the sand. Oh yuck now her tongue felt like when she licked toast crumbs off her plate that one time !

Cole has been watching the nearby ocean more than directly what was ahead of him, trying to count the number of waves he could see. At Riley’s shout he turned his head a little to spot a.. boy in a girls swimsuit with lots of white fluffy fur headed towards them. “ That’s a boy, “ he mumbled confused as he paused so as not to trip over his downed sibling.

Ama's was too excited his brain stuck in hunt mode though he had no idea what he would do once he caught said bunny girl. He actualyl went to running on four legs awkwardly but still running before pouncing the down girl.

"BUNNNNNNNNY!" He cried out in a crowing fashion as he lept atop of the girl wrapping his small arms around her feircly in a MINE MINE MINE sort of way.

Quote:
Riley wasn’t afraid of much but the sudden attack was unexpected and the bunny girl froze for a moment breathing in a mixture of air and sand as she was pressure further into the ground. Her tentacles flails a little but were also nearly paralyzed by her defensive trance like state.

Cole stared wide eyed at the fox boy that was on top of his sister. He was not good at sudden decision making and Their father was far away and what did he do! In a moment of sheer panic he flung one of the small plastic pails at the boy hoping it would make him let go.

Amano as he tended to call himself without thinking in boy form hugged the bunny girl with all his little might. BUNNY BUNNY BUNNY. It ran through his head in a happy little chant as he then went to pull an ear into his mouth to chew on. Nuzzling against the girl in a very happy and pleased moment before the bucket made contact with his head.

Ears flickered back against his skull and he released the girl to then face off with the boy.
"Why you do that?" He demanded.
Riley coughed and spat out sand as she slowly sat up and shot an amber eyed glare at the fluffy..boy? “You’re supposed to ask for hugs,” she informed him as she brought a hand up to touch her wet ear. If the boy wasn’t a fluffy she’d had maybe even kicked him for that, her ears were yucky when wet.

Cole took a nervous step back and raised his arms in some sort of defensive x in front of him. “ You scared her, she’s my sister.” Cole was usually the one more uncertain of things but he knew Riley hated the dark and surprises, he didn’t like it when she got scared either.

Amano flickered an ear towards Riley as if making sure his prey didn't escape. "Ask for hugs? Why? your a bunny I am a fox." He proclaimed jutting his thumb to his chest, it was a huge shift in personality for him. Usually quite and demured and a silent bitter thing. "foxes don't have to ask for hugs... we take em." He continued before circling around Cole his tial flicking back and forth. "like...NOW!" he continued as he suddenly launched himself at Cole for a tackle hug.

Foxes had bad manners, Riley mused, she would have to teach this boy good manners or he wouldn’t make any friends. To be friendless would just be the worst thing in the world because then who would you talk to? The young curio was startled by with the speed the white haired boy lunged for a hug at Cole, it made her a bit nervous. Still she focused on wiping the sand from her tongue and the spit from her ear fully believing that Cole would be fine because well Cole was always fine.

Cole gave a grunt as he was tackled and fell backwards, releasing the rest of their beach items in the process. He stared up at the fox boy in confusion “Are we playing?” The tentacle haired child no longer knew just what was transpiring on the beach only that Riley was okay and this stranger was really weird.

Playing? Amano though on it, tail wagging behind him...er...now a her. His body shifting again since her attention was now on the boy. "Yes!" She squealed she had never really had playmates before. Her sister was just too annyoing.

"We can play tag! YOUR IT." She stated as she poked his nose with a clawed fingertip and then launched herself away from him and then went towards Riley. Giggling as she went to hide behind the other girl. Strange..why was she shifted so much? And why didn't she seem to notice?

Cole was torn, on the one hand he wanted to play tag with the strange boy, girl fox who no longer wanted to attack Riley. On the other that meant leaving their stuff unguarded and having to wait to make sand castles till all the good spots on the beach might be gone. If he didn’t play he’d also be alone because Riley would play and Cole disliked the idea of being stuck by himself. The boy sucked on his lower lip for a moment before nodding and darting towards the girls “Better run,” he warned.

Riley was less concerned about how the fluffy became and girl and more about winning the game, manner lessons now forgotten. The long eared girl giggled, grabbed the other’s bare hand and began to tug her along the beach.

Ama wasn't really good at playing, mostly cause she was so wrapped up with being competitive with her sister, but she wasn't here. And so she was free to play and enjoy herself with little fear of being one upped.

With the girl holding her hand now she shifted back into being a boy, it seemed that whomever he was focused on for that moment he became whatver the opposite gender was of that person. He ran a bit fast tugging the bunny girl along, "Come on faster! We can go on to the rocks!" he exlaimed as he pointed to where he had been playing before their arrival.

Riley was not wearing sandals and rocks were sharp but.. if she stopped then Cole could catch her and she would be it! The toddler allowed herself to be pulled towards the tidepool in favour of not getting caught, confused only a little about why the fluffy was different again.” What’s you name?” she as asked words a bit stilted as she tried to talk and run.

Cole chased after the girls.. girl and boy, how did the other keep changing like that? Didn’t matter though they’d get tired eventually and his tentacles were long enough that maybe if he wasn’t more tired he could tag one of them.
