Ellie's grin only seemed to grow wider as she watched, and when she got the signal, she literally turned back around and began running. The girl never ran for speed or for distance, it was simply just another way to get all of her spare energy out.

Figuring it would be wisest to take all the main streets rather than the back routes (which occasionally required climbing a fence or two, which could be tricky with a puppy at hand), the tomboy led the way, occasionally glancing back as if to make certain Damon didn't get lost. Unfortunately, it wasn't a simple straight shot, and soon enough they had to pause at a crosswalk. The girl's hand balled up and punched the poor crosswalk button at least 5 or 6 times before she was completely content that it was going to let them cross the street soon. She was breathing heavier, as nearly any untrained runner would, but at least the blonde didn't seem to be tired yet. However, she wasn't about to offer up any conversation for the slight break.

Soon enough the light went from a red hand to a white mini-dude, signaling they could cross the street. Even though there were others around also using the crosswalk, Ellie was the rambunctious sort who paid them no mind and simply began running again, running to cross the street, and running along the sidewalk as if the Taqueria was going to magically vanish if she didn't arrive soon enough.

It took maybe 7 minutes worth of running total (not including the break at the crosswalk) until they were standing in front of a "hole in the wall" sort of place. While she panted out, she managed to mention "This place... it's th'f*ckin' real deal. Super authentic sh*t!"

Damon was a pretty good runner, having taken up track in Hillworth and continuing it when he was admitted into Sovereign Heights, and kept up with Ellie fairly well, only raising an eyebrow as she turned back to look at him. Belle seemed glad as they stopped to wait at the traffic light, because it was extremely difficult for her to try and lick him when he was running. "Ugh." He grumbled under his breath. "Stop trying to lap up my sweat."

Luckily, it didn't take long for the light to change, and he dashed after Ellie as she ran as soon as it was deemed safe for her to do so. It was really quite typical of Ellie, he thought.

His only concern when reaching their destination was to lift up Belle and set her back on her feet, and glanced up at the out of breath girl as he took hold of the leash. "Do they allow pets inside?"

The tomboy pushed herself back into an upright position, still panting slightly, but nothing heavier than the normal person would do. "We can eat outside... an' they'll let'cha bring 'er in if ya carry 'er while yer orderin'." Apparently this establishment sorta allowed pets inside.

She really didn't wait for a response, and soon enough she was already inside the building, making her way to the counter to place her order. Someone working in the kitchen raised a hand and greeted her, which she rather easily just offered her version of Spanish. "Heh! Que pasa, my man?!" Two years of Spanish, and all she could pull off was a minimal amount of the language.

The kitchen hand just laughed and simply offered a response in English. "Oh, same old same old!" Rather than leave the kitchen, the man nudged someone else to go up to the register, where Ellie stopped.

She made her order, which consisted of enough food to feed a starving college student, paid, then glanced back towards Amary. She paid for her own, he could order and pay for his. Simple as that.

Damon sighed; this evidently meant that he would have to be carrying the puppy again. Note to self: Belle needs another walk, for this was turning out to be quite unfruitful for her to exercise. He was the one who ran all the way here, not her. Silently, he scooped up his dog once again and followed Ellie, waiting for her to place her order before stepping up to glance through the menu and then place his own order.

It took a while for him to shift the curious puppy to one arm and put his hand into his pocket for his wallet to pay for the meal. At least Ellie wasn't that kind of girl who expected boys to pay for her, not that he would make a big fuss if she did, of course. "So," He said casually after tucking the wallet back into the pocket of his pants, "when are you graduating again?"

Ellie received a glass of what looked like a watered down milk, and with one motion of the arm, signaled for the boy to follow her. With glass at hand, she wandered towards the outdoor section, where a few tables were scattered over the small patio-like area. Obviously the taqueria wasn't an overly rich place, for the chairs were simple plastic things rather than anything overly nice. Rather easily, she pulled one out from a random table and claimed it by sitting down in it, setting her glass on the table.

"Ya ever try Horchata before, Amary? It's basically a rice-milk sorta deal that has cinnamon in it." And possibly one of the few sweet things that the tomboy liked. "It's f*ckin' amazin' sh*t!" She leaned forward and planted her elbows on the tabletop, casually glanced to Belle.

He had asked when they were inside about her grade level, and so now she addressed it. "I'm a Junior this year. Next year's Senior year." She grinned something fierce. "Means I get t'work my a** off this summer t'try and make some progress on my car, since I wanted it ready before end of my senior year." Obviously her motorcycle wasn't her one-and-only project to be proud of.

Well, this was going to be hard, Damon thought as he made his way to where Ellie was leading him to. He sat down, and took a while to tie Belle's leash to the chair, telling her sternly to sit and not move before his attention flickered back to the girl.

"Rice and milk? That sounds like a pretty... weird combination." He said, eying her glass apprehensively. Perhaps it was worth a try. He didn't want to waste if he thought that it was disgusting after a sip though. Different people had different tastes.

"Working on getting two driving licenses?" Damon asked, raising an eyebrow in interest. "Good luck with that." He had never really thought about getting a license for a car, although his mother had brought it up a couple of times, saying that it was safer. Damon had retorted by saying traffic incidents happened to all motorists.

"Not 'rice and milk'... rice-milk. Like, think soy milk, only made of rice instead'a soy beans." It wasn't a perfect description in reality, but the main point was that there was no cow-milk in the beverage.

Rather than attend to her drink on the table, she decided to give the puppy a bit more attention. After a good 10 seconds of debating, she leaned over and began petting the puppy behind the ears as best she could from where she was sitting. Though she hadn't seen the way he was now looking at her beverage, she did comment "It tastes more like cinnamon than rice though. It really ain't all that bad." With a big grin directed at the mini canine, she added "I bet Belle would love it! Yeah, ya would!" Okay, Ellie was being a bit silly. So sue her for liking dogs a lot!

The mention of two licenses did manage to bring her attention back to the table, shifting back into a regular (but mildly lazy) sitting position in her chair. "Thanks, but I ain't gotta worry 'bout tryin' fer my automobile license 'til I got a car t'drive. So next year at earliest."

It was about this time one of the employees of this fine establishment came out and set a basket of tortilla chips on the table. The darker skinned man curiously glanced at the puppy, but made no fuss over it. Without a word, he was gone, having completed his task. The tomboy's fingers eagerly snatched up a chip and chomped down on it. Sure, she had enough food coming to feed about 3 normal high school girls, yet she was still going to fill up a bit on chips.

"So..." she started, mouth still chewing on a chip which was slowly being turned into mush in her mouth. "...what'cha studyin' at Shlip?"

"Sounds weird." Damon said off-handedly. He was still imagining rice grains floating around in milk, and that didn't make him eager to try it at all.

Belle happily wagged her tail at all this attention, while Damon contemplated the concept of cinnamon milk. It still sounded awfully strange to him, but of course, it was nothing compared to the weird sort of meat some people would eat. "Are you sure? Dogs have weird stomachs." When he was younger, he had found out that they couldn't eat chocolate, which he still didn't comprehend. At least he wasn't a dog.

Damon took a chip, held it out of Belle's mouth as she excitedly clamored for the food; bringing a puppy along for a meal was really quite a feat. Delphine had often looked like she wanted to kick Belle when she begged for food at the table. "Studying... school stuff." And then he leaned back in his seat and added. "I got an offer to be on the basketball team."

Ellie swallowed down the mush while the boy answered and then replenished her empty mouth with a small handful of chips still slick with grease. She nodded at his explanation, and with the manners of a peasant, she spoke with her mouth still full of food.

"I w-unf nn urreen eef ew shen udderwise!" (I would've been worried if you said otherwise!) Casually, her own hand drifted down to the puppy, attempting to pet the dog's curly hair. She took a few more chews before swallowing a much rougher mush down her throat.

"So gen. ed until ya figger sh*t out then? I think ya woulda thrown me fer a loop if ya stated a major so easily." She grinned before taking a large gulp of her beverage. "I don't even think I'll be goin' t'college right away, t'be honest. I already know what I want t'do with my life... but I want experience before pursuin' all that school crap."

Belle didn't object to Ellie trying to pat her again, not when the hand offered smelled of food, and her tongue lapped in that direction delightedly. Damon hadn't noticed, or else he would have held her back, but instead focused on Ellie with pursed lips. "I don't know what to major in." Then with a frown, he amended his previous sentence. "I mean, I always thought I'd do something along the sports route, but I don't know if I can actually make it."

At least Ellie was sure of what she wanted to do, and he rather respected her for that. He wasn't sure if his sole interest was really his goal in life, or perhaps he was just afraid that his mother would think such a career was useless. "Well, what is it you want to do?"

Before she could give a reply to her companion, a man with tanned skin and dark hair came up with two platters. One was set in front of Damon, and the other in front of Ellie. The man knew the tomboy's orders, so he didn't even need to ask where each platter went.

"Grassy a** my hombre!" Ellie said with a laugh, signaling she obviously meant her thanks as a joke. The employee laughed a bit weakly before wandering off.

The blonde had manners at times, but when she was hungry, she didn't seem to obey any conventional rules, such as do not speak with your mouth full of food. With two large burritos, a pile of rice, several peppers sliced up thin, and a platter of tortillas, it was obvious she needed to get started quickly so they could leave in a timely fashion. She easily sliced into the first burrito, stuffed a large mouthful into her mouth, and then actually addressed the question.

"I wanna own my own car garage an' repair place!" If someone knew Ellie for two seconds, they probably realized she was all about the vehicles.

Damon merely raised an eyebrow at Ellie's remark about grassy asses. For some reason, that brought up a mental image of a hula skirt, but Ellie would rather die than wear that sort of thing, he was sure. Besides, Destiny City was no Hawaii. It wasn't as if it was summer time either.

On the other hand, while it would seem logical for Damon to be as sloppy as table manners as well, as he had been in Hillworth for a while, he took his time to chew and swallow before answering. "That's cool. Seems like the perfect job for you." Mrs Amary had always been strict about many matters, and table manners was one of them.

They continued eating, talking about cars, garages and stuff like that, as the sun set and their stomachs were soon full.
