I've been following Arizona in the news passively since I first heard of the "controversial" immigration bill. Massachusetts decided that Arizona's business is our business for some ungodly reason, but I fully support Arizona's recent choices, especially this new law.

I think the only thing that would make me any happier politically would be to see Arizona threaten secession, but perhaps that's a bit much to expect.

Hopefully Arizona wins the upcoming lawsuit against Obama and his lackeys and puts a notch in the belt of State's rights.
My whole family told MA to go ******** itself ten years ago and marched off into the sunset. Best decision we ever made. Goddamn Kennedies.

I can understand that very well. A good part of my family is in New Hampshire, and eventually we may follow, but I can't help being a New England man, y'know? But I am not Kennedy follower, and I was glad when I saw the great Ted Kennedy replaced with a Republican (not what I wanted, but better than Martha Coakley).

Meanwhile, how are the folks of Arizona taking the idea of a federal lawsuit over a 17-page law designed to protect the rights of the citizens? I'm very curious as to the political climate down there at the moment.
I'm not sure of the law you're referring to. I'm not too up on the news most times.

I'm still wondering why there were F-16s in Sky Harbor airspace last night... that's too much of a hassle to get clearance to do "just because".

I was speaking of the new immigration law, which, to my understanding only gives police in Arizona the power to enforce a federal law already in existence.

As for the F-16s, it could be a military exercise, though you're right about the clearance issue.

Oh yeah, the one that lets cops check your papers at any given time? Yeah, it's kinda draconian, but by ******** it's necessary. You know it's gotten bad when there's fifteen Mexicans driving around in a 1990 F150 with Sonora plates.

"You will still need a Concealed Carry Permit to carry where a permit is required"

This troubles me.
Are they leaving it up to individual counties whether they require the permit or not?

No, there are a few places that still require it, like restaurants that serve alcohol, and I think government buildings. With a CCW, you can take the gun into the building and put it in a locker, but I don't think you can even cross the threshold without.

Actually, all it allowed was for cops to be able to check if you're a legal citizen if you're caught breaking the law.

Actually it says they can if they have "reasonable cause" and thats what people are all pissed about, they think its gonna be abused because "reasonable cause" can differ from officer to officer and they tink its gonna be a racial profiling pandemic.

Even though it's been stated that any sniff of racism will be dealt with harshly, especially when it comes from reports from citizens. Or at least that's what I've read. You're not likely to find a lot of illegal Canadians in Arizona.

Funny thing... I DO know some Canadians living here on a work visa. xd

Not illegals, but still amusing enough.
