He hasn't punished us, yet. But the disappointed lectures are so much worse than punishment :/

Not giving us water breaks during marching practice. 100+ (humidity makes it feel much worse than it actually is) degree weather without water for long periods of time ='s not fun.

Forget the laps and the push-ups we've done before.
The worst punishment... My BD made the entire flute section help the pit transport their instruments throughout marching season because we have the smallest instruments. T___T We would miss stretching and what not (which is SO vital! D: ) because we were moving stuff. And he said he'd reward us, too.
He never did.
(And that was for every rehearsal and football game. Luckily not competitions... but the pit was small this passed year. I still think the clarinets would have been better... they had 21, as opposed to our...12.)

It depends, really. The worst punishment I've ever suffered from has been from my section leaders, not the actual band director.
My section leaders (we had two for the trumpet section at the time) teamed up and cussed me out together before making me run multiple laps around the field after practice without any breaks. Sometimes I'd have to do push ups, sometimes I'd do sit ups instead. It all depended on their mood.
The worst punishment my band director did was when he got mad when I moved at attention and he got right up in my face and screamed contradictory statements "YOU SHOULD BE LOOKING RIGHT THAT WAY!!!" *I move that way* "DON'T MOVE AT ATTENTION!!! LOOK AT ME WHEN I TALK!!!!" *I look at him* "DON'T MOVE AT ATTENTION, WHAT DID I JUST TELL YOU?!!?" until I was crying (it was my first year, I had only just turned 11) and then I still had to stay at attention and finish our run through.
I'm now a good kid, nobody else punishes me anymore. It was just my first year.

This short story is from a cousin of mine that just graduated, and it was back when our band director was more of a hard a** then he is now. I can't remember what they did but it must have been bad, but anyways Mr. H (our band director) made the entire band do 50 push-ups, march 5 blocks out in the poring rain, then stay inside after school to clean out the "loner" instruments and scrub the crap out of the entire band room. My cousin said it was one of the nastiest things that he had to do while he was in high school. He said that they found a Twinkie stuffed in a corner in it's warper. It was from at least 10-15 years ago, and it looked like it just came out of the box, and they some how found the legendary experimental McDonald's hamburger from only god knows when, see it was said that someone hid a MD hamburger somewhere in the school, then was going to come back after collage to see if it was still intact. The bun and everything else was disintegrated, but the patty was still intact. Nasty right? mrgreen

Wow, sounds exactly like something my band director Mr. H would have done when he first started, he was fresh out of the Army band if that explains anything.

our bd is a viking. big mean tuff looking. he's scary. If he doesn't punish us, the class will because they dont want to suffer his wrath... he's been struck with thunder three times and lived.
the only way to kill him is by striking him in the heart with a wooden clarinet at midnight.
threw a chair at someone out of uniform the day of the concert.
band class is not a democracy, its a theocracy.
a golden rule is if a superior tells you to do something, do it and ask questions about the spork in your eye later.
but he's nice to us too, he placed bear traps around the band room for our safety and there's been no negative side effects...yet. well, maybe thats not so nice, but he's helpfull! one student had a broken leg and was on crutches for a long time! she had put her flute on the top shelf of the instrument closet and our viking bd helped her get it! *pushes over student and takes crutch to reach flute*
ok um its not as bad as it sounds! really!!

Forgive me.... My band director punishes us by making us listen to his spazzes and rants that are directed towards the band for no reason. Even for simple things. stare ......If I disappear

Sometimes she will take up Lord of the Dance, our fastest song and direct us twice as fast as it should be played and we are out of breath by the end of the song.

Our BD isn't really in charge of anything...I mean, he yells at us sometimes, but mostly it's the drum major who runs rehearsals. Once our DM made us march our pregame show like four times cause no one was doing it right. That's pretty much the worst thing I can think of, considering the marching will usually get worse with each runthrough cause everyone's exhausted. xD
