Airi had already forgotten about the discomfort of the moment and was looking forward to her favorite sugary treat. Oh she really hoped that the place would put whipped cream and chocolate powder on top. She’d been to a few places where they hadn’t even gotten all the lumps out of the powder. That had been fun to “accidentally” spill all over the shoes of the b***h waitress. Of course, her eyes had been wide with innocence as a ploy. She gave a half smile and followed him to the door, preceding him inside and looking around the interior. It was dilapidated in her mind, in need of a lot of work to make it sparkle like new again, but… it was clean. Lovely clean… A sign that the owners cares that much. She glanced back over her shoulder, uncomfortable in places with other people most of the time… “Err.. do we wait or just sit….?”
Airi kept her fist clenched tight on the key... It was her reminder that she had a home now and wouldn't go without one again. A small silver security blanket.

The room was decorated with reds and blues, bright colors with black and gold trim. There were no windows and the lighting buzzed dimly, but it smelled heavenly: of coffee and cream and pastries. He patted Airi's shoulder, leading her to a booth, where he flopped down and stretched out, arms resting on the back of the booth behind him. "We wait." A waitress with a fluffy tail was parading around in a rather cute-looking apron and he grinned as she took their orders. Sassy chose a rather caffinated mocha latte -- his favorite -- and looked to Airi, letting her be a big girl and order on her own: he wasn't her daddy. She could do it. He grinned at her, head tipping back.

She took in the surroundings with wide eyes that were a bit vacant to keep her discomfort from showing more thoroughly. She didn't want to seem weak, it was against what she was made for. Her life had been nothing but one task to another until getting herhome int he Ruins and now that she didn't have to fight for a place to sleep or food to eat she was bound and determined to be more normal. Sweet and friendly? About the time hell froze over, but it would do her good to not freeze up into a block of ice just because more than her shadow was present in a room. She managed to look up at the waitress with her half-smile intact, "Hot chocolate.. don't skimp on the whipped cream.... please?" There... that hadn't been that hard, usually she just kind of grunted at what she wanted but that wouldn't do for this.

Sassy watched as the blond waitress gave a nod, though her eyes were on him and the rather...see through shirt he wore. He grinned back at her, then made a show of reaching for Airi's hand, a self-satisfied smile on his face. The waitress scurried off and Sassy let her go, wave his hand as if to wave it off. "So what's the story behind that key, girlie?" No, he wasn't nosy at all.

Airi blinked a little bit at the contact, she was not a touchy-feely person in the slightest and he seemed to be so casual about contact with others. It wasn’t her problem if he liked touching, but it would be his if he pawed at her at all. In the cheery little café though it didn’t seem right to pick a fight so she just tensed up before letting out a slow breath. He had mentioned her key.. Why did he want to know about it? Did he think that she would share? She wouldn’t of course. Her room was entirely her own and she’d fight if they tried to put someone in it with her. It was hers. “Uhm.. it’s a housekey….?” Hoping to get off with just that as explanation.

Sassy grinned at her when she didn't flinch back. He was indeed casual with touch -- he loved touch, craved touch. Lived and breathed for touch. Especially sensual touch, though he doubted he'd get that out of -her-. He chuckled at the idea, what an absurd idea! He would probably get luckier with Gwin, and she was mourning her ex-lover. He'd steer clear of -that- thankyouverymuch... He wasn't good at...helping was sadness. He usually ended up being clung to/cried on and that was rather...uncomfortable. He shrugged a little, attention back on Airi. "Nope. Not a housekey. Your ear twitched. Means you're lyin'." He grinned widely at her. "So spill."

“My ears twitch all the time Ace, if you hadn’t noticed I’m a cat.. It kinda happens.” Her tone was smug and more than a little bit snotty but she couldn’t help it. If lies were based off the movement of an ear then honesty had the same value as a wiggle of the tail. Although that didn’t work very well in her mind to say because he was constantly wagging his tail all over the place like an idiot. “I don’t want to spill my hot chocolate.. I’d rather drink it then have you buy me another one.. Yes I like that better.. and I’ll drink the second one too.” Smirking a little bit, knowing that looks were deceiving with her on one major thing, her size. She was tiny, petite and thin.. but her appetite was not.

Sassy looked at her, incredulous. Man, what a smart-a**... He rolled his eyes -- right in front of her, so she could see his "amusement". He huffed softly and sipped his latte, which the waitress brought, along with her cocoa. "Well then, don't spill. Keep it bottled up inside, where it'll swell and blister your intestines... And then you'll die." His lips twitched in a grin. "Deadkitty is dead, yanno." He leaned back against the booth once again. "No more cocoa for you!" Didn't have enough for more. He fished in his pockets, pulling out a few wadded dollars that he'd nicked off some guy -- so what if stealing was bad? Not like people paid him for his art. "Where you headed after this?" He, for one, was going to the University, to fish out Gwin and get her to talk to him. And not ignore him, pleasekaythanks.

Airi's face turned almost ashen with a mix of irritation and unwillingness to relive the memories of being cold, alone, unloved, and unhappy... and.. scared. She'd been so scared to be by herself. A life surrounded by too many babies, too many hands touching to all the time into absolute solitude. Too many shocks to her system and while she appreciated that he wanted to talk to her about it, well.. it just wasn't going to happen. It would take a lot more than a chat with an aggressive boob-spraying male to make her talk about how rough things had been in the past. She reached into a hidden fold in her skirt and pulled out a couple dollars of her own, feeling the urge to pay for her own since she wasn't pleasant company. "I don't actually need it paid for.. but it was... k-kind of you to offer." Nearly choking on the word kind. Her expression was entirely withdrawn now and would stay so for quite awhile. "I will go sleep soon then perhaps I'll go for a walk. I've no plans or designs right now.."

Sassy watched her change colors, growing vampire-pale with the thoughts in her head, he assumed. Man, she had to've had a rough life, if she was getting so worked up about a simple key! He wondered what it actually meant to her, but returned to his latte, downing it now that it was cooler and slamming the cup down on the table with enough force to make the waitress jump an aisle over. He grinned at her misfortune, then stood.
"Well-well then. It was nice to meetcha, Airi, but I must make my exit. Need to find more paints... Got an itching for painting a nude scene and I'm all out." This was his way of giving her an exit, telling her without actually saying, that he didn't expect her to spill the beans anymore. He nodded and gave her a two-fingered salute. "Perhaps I'll look you up sometime. Until then...ciao baby..." With a grin -- and without paying -- he strode right out, hips swaying, tail wagging.
