Now she had done it. Sauda felt a tingle of ire when Nori's face darkened. He wasn't happy with her words. She had snapped back at him one too many times, and his patience with her seemed to run out. She almost jumped when he slammed his hoof down. Sauda felt her heart pick up to the fast pace that she had just calmed it from.
She couldn't get her hooves to move when he approached her side. Not sure if it was fear that was keeping her in place, or the anticipation she felt for his reaction. He had already pushed her off of the edge with her anger, and now she would find out what he was like in his. Sauda flinched back when he made to strike her, but was surprised when he only whispered into her ear.
I don't have a choice? The thought burned. Her herd would never let that happen. Couldn't he see that? Evan bet her because he knew that there wasn't a chance in the world that Nori would ever have her. Or any member.
Before she had a chance to respond, Nori stepped on her tail. Hard.
The scream that came from her throat met no resistance. Sauda tried jumping away, but when he wouldn't let go, she tried her best to angle herself away from him. Her poor tail was crushed.
Tears started to well in her eyes. From the pain or the fear, she didn't know. Maybe abit of both.

Lucky for Sauda, she saw Nori's attack before it could make contact. In what little time she had, Sauda did her best to guide the blunt of the blow away from any parts that could do damage. With the angle of her body, Nori's attack landed on her side. It knocked the air from her lungs, and she fell down to her side. Coughing in the dirt, she tried to breath. With raspy breaths, she recovered slightly.
"You're not going to let me go?" Sauda almost whimpered. She felt so pathetic. If only she had a means to fight back. Her tears finally spilt over, and she did her best to hide them from the male. She felt worthless, weak. Her body was made for running, not fighting.

Nori eyed her, stepping off of her tail when her body lunged towards the ground, falling hard into the dirt. His attack had managed to strike her, yet he was disappointed, he had an itch that she would slyly make a break and get him back with some tactic her herd had taught her but, as it turned out, he was wrong and only the males had the kind of strength worth noting. With a grunt, he stared down at her fragile, airless state; no pity or mercy visible in any reflection or pant of annoyance.

"You deserve all that comes at you." He seethed darkly, raising his hoof and putting it upon her shoulder, putting more pressure upon it with every struggle or squirm. Her crispy words egged him on more, her screams feeding the blood lust he had pushed back for his pack members sake - no, he couldn't harm her too much. Not yet. She may have been what he was angry at, Evan's sister but the previous years where they shared happiness was something to cherish.

Nori was stumped. Her pleading eyes, the smell of salt flushing out in to his lungs might as well just be what would be seen in a years time. He pulled off his foot slowly and put it to the ground before sighing and lowering his body to a lay next to her, closing his eyes in deep thought. Confusion swirling like a never ending headache.

Re-opening them only let the female back in to view. "What's your name?" He asked roughly, not answering whether he was to keep her there or not. He wanted to but a restraint that couldn't be explained was keeping him from making it a final decision.

Sauda bit her lip to keep from crying out again at his cruel proclamation, and the way that his hoof dug into her shoulder. As he pushed harder, she couldn't hold back. She cried out. Soon after, the weight was lifted from her bruised shoulder. His weight was gone, but she still felt an indent that he left.
Her eyes were clenched shut at the pain, and all of her wings had curled into themselves. Her lifeless tail was limp at her side.
The next thing she knew, he was right beside her, laying down.

Sauda sniffled. She felt like a child right now, laying next to him. His actions confused her, frightened her. First he lashes out, knocking her off of her hooves, when the next moment, he's calm and laying next to her. She didn't know what to think of Nori. The shoulder that he stepped upon still ached, and her lungs still didn't will themselves to take in more that a gasp full of air at a time. "M-my name?" Sauda hiccuped at a pause. "Sauda" She spoke softly, turning her eyes up towards his face. If she had more fight in her, the thought 'About time he asked' would have gone through her head, but she left it be. Sauda had been rude enough to this male, and it wouldn't get her anything better than a swift kick to shut her up. Maybe she even still held hope that he would just let her leave. He already damaged her. Her wings wouldn't be fit to fly for a few days, and the pain in one of her ankles wasn't all too appealing. Right now, she'd rather just lay there and wait for his judgement. "What do you want from me, Nori?" She turned her heavily lidded gaze up to his shining eyes.

Good question. He viewed her struggles, observing every bit of pain that had been dealt through her cries and endless twitching. He looked away at the lake. He had done much worse in one quick attack and yet, this wasn't as satisfying as they had been. Why? He didn't care who got hurt it was survival of the fittest... Or at least the decency to keep out of another territory.

Or was it because of him? "Familiarity." He stated bluntly only being able to narrow it down to that, gaze swirling back to her, her raspy breath caused his ears to pin back. A sigh escaped the beasts jaws with not more than a lazy shuffle, he was closer to her, so her hooves touched his side, she could kick him, or deal him damage from their present locations but he was testing whether she would or not. He leaned forward, licked at her cheek in some twisted way of apology before resting his head down in between his two front legs.

"Sauda." He repeated testing it upon the tongue, wondering if that shared any meaning to it. Sauda and Evan. Strange but they fitted them, which of their parents came up with them? He shook his head, fur poof'ing out from the damper parts in the shape of spiky prickles.

"I'll keep you."
He mentioned, half-frowning. "But only until your wounds heal, or till you have enough energy to leave." She was the lucky one out of the bunch. Second thoughts or a change of heart, he didn't know and that was confusing him. He needed to think about this and why it now would pain him to the point of not even be able t bring anymore harm to the mare. Her screams, pain, cries were taunting him.

If she was still in a fighting mood, she might have swung at him. But that had both settled down, so any violence would be out of place. That, and she didn't really want to hurt him. What good would it do? She didn't believe much in revenge. Why hold something negative in your mind for so long? It would only eat away at you. A wave of pain made it's way up her leg as she tried to adjust. Sauda wished that her mother were here. If only she had more Uni blood in her. Then the pain wouldn't hurt nearly as much. Nori snapped her from her thought when he licked her.
As if they weren't in this situation, her eyes widened and her jaw dropped. Did she miss something? Taking a big gulp, she watched as he pulled back and then settled his head between his legs. That was... Sauda felt her cheeks start to heat up where his tongue was moments before. She was baffled by his behavior.
"Sauda" She almost replied with a 'what', right after but noticed how he wasn't looking at her when he said her name. "Don't forget it," she murmured. It wasn't that she was questioning his memory. She just wanted him to remember just who Evan's sister was. If Evan lost, it would hurt her to have to take a mate who couldn't even remember her name.
With a small frown, Sauda listened to Nori's decision. He was going to keep her? But not because she had been rude to him. He wanted her to heal.
And even though she wanted to get out of this forest as soon as possible, it wouldn't be safe to go right now. It was the best option to stay here with him. Even though it was unappealing to her, Sauda couldn't help but to feel grateful. "Thank you," She coughed, sucking more air into her lungs.
It was probably time to get up. As much as she wanted to, it wouldn't be a good idea to pass out right here. With a strangled cry, she made her way up onto her front legs, and then her back. When putting pressure on her left back ankle, it pulsed with pain. She kept it up, so she was standing on three legs. "Where to?" Sauda asked weakly at the male who was already standing ready at her side.

Nori watched her struggle to her feet and raised an eyebrow at how her attitude was still in place towards him. He got up when she tried to get to her feet and rolled his eyes, pushing his head forward and helping her get to her balance, using his neck as leverage before pulling back and standing up straight.

His and Evan's hideout wasn't far from their current position. He cocked his head to the side, in a way of telling her it was 'this way' to where he would keep her. Making his way into the forest, he kept flicking his gaze back and pausing when she was a distance in need of catching up to him. She may or may not of known her way around this labyrinth of a forest, so just to make sure he kept the pace steady and himself in her sight.

"Think you can make it?" He questioned her ability. If she was like her brother she would be strong, determined to keep going but- she was a mare and he knew how fragile and weak they could come across; he wouldn't hold any great expectations over her. He yawned, shaking his coat slightly.

She resisted snapping at him to leave her alone, after her legs locked in place. She could tell that he wasn't exactly happy at their situation either, but she appreciated him trying. He had even helped her regain her balence. Sauda looked up just in time to see him gesture to her to follow him. She did her best to keep up with him.
Her tail dragged behind her on the ground pathetically, as she tried to keep up with the male. There was a tingling sensation going through it, and she hoped that pain soon followed. Sauda didn't know what she would do if he had 'killed' her tail. She already felt off balence without it. Before this, she already leaned towards being clumsy. This wouldn't help her improve. The innocent teenage girl inside of her wanted to cry. On the outside, it would look like she was pouting at her situation. It was difficult to feel positive at the moment. Her eyes stared down at her dirt covered hooves, as she wandered just how far she would have to walk before arriving at his lair. Sauda giggled. Lair. That was a little dramatic. He caught her attention by speaking.

Taking a short, shaky breath in Sauda looked up from her hooves to answer Nori. "I think so," Her legs didn't want to corroperate with what her mind wanted. Her left leg was lifted off of the ground, so she didn't have to put weight on it, but it made walking at a decent pace impossible. She felt ashamed that she could hardly keep up with him when he was only walking. "Uhm..." Sauda hobbled, trying to make it to Nori's side. She didn't want to feel weak around him, but her condition wasn't helping back her up. "Do you think... that you could help me?" She was ashamed to ask, but knew that if she had help, they would arrive at his place faster, and she wouldn't have to use as much energy. The thought of having to be so close to him for awhile made her stomach flip. He probably wouldn't be happy with the idea of having her lean on him until they reached his home.

Nori watched her pathetic state, wobbling all over the place, seeing the strain and struggle in her shaky limbs, her breathing pattern and her body language. Wolves fed upon body language and she was making it the extra bit easy to read what was wrong. he stood still, unnearthly still, his yellow piercing eyes upon her in a taunting, structured way. He had no idea even standing remotely still had an eerie aura to it or an intimidating appearance, it's just how he was. Naturally.

He raised an eyebrow at her question and huffed. "Might as well, we'll never get there if you end up trippping over your hooves." He smirked, propping himself up to herside and sliking forward. He was practically stepping at what seemed like a snail pace but he guessed he owed her at least that. He felt pity even at himself that he couldn't finish the job.

As time went on and it grew darker, the moon their only guiding light in the thick layered forest they came to a very dark opening shrouded in bushes and over-hanging tree branches. He growled lightly, hearing a scatter by his side but the path sounded clear. Helping Sauda in her weak state, he left her victim to the trunk of a tree for leverage and headed towards the 'lair', tearing away the cover and creating a clear way in to the cave.

It had lots of bedding, so it should be comfy enough for her. He wondered, unless she was going to act spoiled aboit it- but she would have to deal through it. "It's only a few steps, enjoy your stay." He snickered, cruelly as he walked in and laid down, watching her with an amused little smile to see how she would cope simply reaching his position.

She never thought that she would be able to take this much comfort in being able to touch somebody. It didn't even matter that he was the one who put her through all of this. She didn't take the energy to roll her eyes at him. It was obvious that he wasn't happy with having to almost carry her weight to his cave, but it did help her. The night's air was chilly against her coat. Her mane didn't offer her any warmth- it was too short. The shadowy black headwings were still scrunched together, trying to keep themselves warm. The heat that his furry coat provided her was a small comfort that she took. The temptation to close her eyes was strong, and she knew that she could easily doze off walking with him like this.

They arrived at his cave sooner than Sauda expected. She almost whined when Nori left her side, leaving her leaning against a tree, and the warmth that went with him. Her legs felt so tired. She gave his living space a quick look over. It wasn't the lair that she had imagined- It look almost cozy inside. Sauda knew better than to complain, as she followed him into his home. She watched in surprise as he settled himself down on the cushioned floor. The looking he was giving her... Sauda felt her face heat up a few degrees. She suddenly felt more self conscious of her appearance. Why was he watching her like that?? Did she have a twig in her hair? After being lost for hours on end, Sauda doubted that she looked clean and orderly. Sauda took a sharp breath in when something occurred to her.

"You're staying?" The words slipped from her mouth before she took the time to think about it. What? Duh, of course he is. It's his place, isn't it. Taking a quick breath in, Sauda corrected herself, hopefully before Nori could take it the wrong way. "I- I mean, I'm glad. That you're staying." She took the few wobbly steps it took to make her way into the den. At a time like this, where she had no energy nor strength to defend herself, it would be better if he stayed. If something found her, she wouldn't be able to fight it off. Even though they didn't exactly get along, nor trust each other, Sauda somehow knew that Nori wouldn't take further advantage of her physical state. It took more effort than she'd ever admit out loud, to lower herself onto her stomach. The tired muscles and joints in her legs strained themselves, as she finally came to rest. Her temporary resting spot was close to Nori's. Close enough that she could reach out and touch him if she so desired. "Nori?" Sauda murmured, settling her head down on the cushioned ground, her eyelids heavy.
Their dark red irises gazed at him, watching him watching her. "Will you be here when I wake?" a small sliver of fear made itself into her speach. It was silly of her to expect such a thing from him. She wouldn't be surprised if he just scoffed at her foolishness. She felt as though she was already asking too much of him as it was. Nori didn't seem like the type to take in injured females and nurse them back to health- even if he was the one to cause it.

Nori had watched her but it hadn't been as fun and as amusing as he thought it would be. Her figure was tired, weak pathetic and every movement was sloppy and untidy. She was on the verge of just falling flat asleep however, she managed to lower herself and even then Nori kept his eyes on her, how she became awkward and nervous all of a sudden. At the obvious question, Nori just smirked, throwing out a an evil sounding laugh, it's tone low.

"Where else am I going to go?" He raised his eyebrow but it fell back in to place when she quickly corrected herself and she was eager that he stayed. Women, they didn't know what they wanted ever. They didn't posses the ability to make up their mind. When he thought silence had finally found them she began to talk again and he turned his head at the call of his name. "Hn?" He was... Curious. What did she want? Ah.

Interesting question, though a dumb one at that. He was a wolf he came and went as he pleased but he didn't break a chain that he had already planned out. He nodded his head affirmatively, his amber's meeting with the red, blazing eyes of the female mutant. He kept them there, trying to figure out an untold puzzle they held. Like he had heard her thoughts, he shuffled closer to her in the warmth, deadly close. His fur brushed smoothly against the side of her sleek physique and he began nipping at her mane carefully. He brushed the side of his cheek against hers in a swift, gentle motion then pulled away, looking at her from the side. His muzzle wasn't even a mere cm away from hers.

She wanted him close, to be there. She was getting what she wanted but maybe not exactly what she was expecting. Something she could think on, he was having way too much fun teasing her; strangely enough.

Her muscles relaxed, as he stated that he wouldn't be leaving her side anytime during the night. She didn't know what she was afraid of, being alone in this place, or the chance that something could find her while she was practically incompasitated. She didn't both saying thank you, instead just offering him a small smile.
A blush slowly heated Sauda's face when she suddenly noticed that Nori had moved even closer to her side. His fur was much longer than her own, wild instead of her tamed short fur. She hadn't ever seen another Soquili quite like him before.
Another shiver made its way down Sauda's spine as his eyes burned into her own. Yet, she knew that it wasn't from the cold. No, Nori's body heat had already chased away the Icy night air. For some reason, that she didn't feel like pondering right now, it felt right. The feeling of him pressed up beside her, the little nips and tugs he gave as he played with her mane. It felt like something totally different. As though hours before she hadn't been furious at him, and he hadn't attacked her.
Sauda tried pushing the thoughts out of her mind. They were too complicated to think about right before sleep, and she didn't want to end up getting nightmares because of it. Nori probably wouldn't enjoy getting startled away by a flailing mare with night terrors.
Letting out a deep sigh, Sauda allowed her eyes to close as she drifted off to sleep.

About a month later....

Sauda yawned sleepily, stretching out her limbs from the ground. Her eyes heavy from sleep fluttered open to be greeted by the morning's sun. She sat up from the ground, glancing at the empty space beside her. He must have already left... Sauda thought, looking up towards the entrance of the shelter. The mare made her way to her hooves, taking a moment to stretch once again. A lazy smile settled on her face as she felt her joints pop. A few steps forward brought her out into the open. Looking up to the sky, Sauda noticed that Nori had spoiled her this morning. It was almost midday, and he had allowed her to sleep in, once again. Looking around, Sauda wondered where he might have gone. A rumble in her stomach caught her attention, and she decided that he'd eventually show up. For now, she'd have to go find herself some food.
PostPosted: Thu Dec 30, 2010 3:11 am

Nori shook off his coat as he came out of the river, a few fish caught swiftly within his jaws as they flapped around for a moment, until he bit down on them and they ended lifelessly. He had been gone a while now, thinking it may be time to get back to Sauda, after all he had caught enough fish. He crunched them and swallowed them down, knowing Sauda probably wasn't the one to eat meat, which is why he had refrained so far over the past month to bring them to her. Instead, it had been all fruits wrapped in leaves to help drag them back to her.

By now she would be awake. He trudged through the marsh back towards the cave, ears flickering back and forth as they caught on to the many sounds of the forest. Shuffles, tweets, the flapping of wings even a distant howl. His eyes fell on a familiar figure, which brought a small smile to his wolf-like features. She was well again, she had been for a week at least possibly. Her condition had improved rapidly before his eyes and now he found himself protective not wanting to let her go even though, he had to.

His eyes fell to the ground as he stepped out of the last bordering shadows that hid him, looking back up at her silently, tail flicking around behind him.
