Cassius patted Peyton on the head playfully at her jab at him. "Oh come now, my ego isn't going anywhere." He then winked at her and hoped she'd forgive him for only ranting about the obvious. Life wasn't as complicated as it seemed, especially when it came to the sexes.

He understood Peyton's desire to want to succeed and work hard. He'd met many other people who believed in that same ethic. "Well, you should find a good balance. Now is the time to still have some fun, since you are only young once. And honestly? You have your whole life to work to be successful." He grinned and put his hands behind his head on the bench. "Working hard is important as long as you are giving yourself a break once in a while." Cassius wasn't worried about Peyton doing well later on. Even if he gave her advice to have more fun, he knew she'd still keep working like a dog. She was a smart gal like that.

"Please, you'd freak if you started skipping class regularly. Just make sure to do little rewards for yourself. Buy yourself those shoes you want, see that movie that sounds good, I dunno, things that make ya smile." Cassius was all for the little things in life. "Just don't change who you are." He wasn't worried about her doing that, either!

The pat on her head was quickly swatted away, Peyton's scowl returning. She didn't like being patronized. She soon sighed, however, leaning back into him more comfortably, craning her head back to get an upside-down view of her friend.

"You're only young once, but what you do when you're young makes who you are when you're grown up," she commented, sighing once more. She wanted to have more fun - she loved the parties she went to, and spending time with her friends like this. But she had to work too. She didn't know how Cass did it, without feeling guilty. Everytime she was at a party, she felt guilty that she should be at home, working. It was...it was pretty horrible. "Don't you even feel guilty?" she thought out loud, watching him upside-down rather intently, "When you're partying and all that. Don't you ever feel like...like you should be working?"

"I know, I know," she giggled, bringing her head back to it's normal position, her neck beginning to ache, "And that's what I've got you for, hmm? Mr. Moneybags - you buy me the shoes I want, since I can't afford it." she grinned. "Change who I am? Geez, James, you sound like one of those voiceovers in those corny movies."

"I may sound like a corny movie- but you sound like a schoolbook right now." He knew she'd enjoy that comment! Everything was in good fun, afterall. "I never feel guilty about anything." he then added to her question, with a usual confidence and sternness to his voice. Whenever he was stating his opinion he made sure to annunciate very well and keep his voice on track. That way whoever he was talking to just had to listen in return.

"I do everything in my life because I want to and choose too. Every single decision I make is completely thought out and considered, and never worried about again." He never questioned himself because there was no reason to. He'd go crazy if that was the case. "If you stick with what you want then you will find everything eventually falling into place as it should." Cassius wasn't perfect- his life most certainly had it's down moments and problems. But, now that he was an adult he had everything he wanted in his control. That's all he ever wanted for himself.

"I'll buy you whatever you want." he then added, in a more playful grin. "I get a wonderful satisfaction in buying people the things they want or need." Plus it fed his ego tremendously, and he loved having that power in general over people.

"Oh, shut it," Peyton grumbled, tugging on one of his strands of hair again, a little sharper than she had the last time, though she was careful not to actually hurt him. He never felt guilty? Really? Peyton sighed, wondering if it was just her. Perhaps she should try it, skipping a few lessons or going to a few more parties, and seeing how it affected her. After all, Cassius seemed fine with it, why shouldn't she?

"I don't want to work," she retaliated, afraid she was beginning to sound like some crazy girl who loved working all the time. Nu-uh. Far from it. "Just...you have to. Well. Everyone but you has to. I don't...get how you're not broke," she sighed, pouting a little. It seemed unfair sometimes, how he always seemed to win bets when he was low on money. She envied how lucky he always seemed to be at the right moments. "It doesn't always work like that, James. Not for everyone, at least."

She snorted. He'd buy her whatever she wanted? Lifting herself from his side to turn and look at him, she narrowed her eyes, trying to gauge whether he was lying or not, "...Fine. But I won't owe you anything." she stated, wanting to make it clear. It'd be a gift, and he certainly wouldn't be getting anything in return.

He playfully winced at her violent behavior but forgave her nonetheless. "I know it is what it is, and many people have to work. I dunno, I broke away from it and found something I excelled at, and in the end made myself a good empire to start." Oh, it wasn't hard to tell that Cassius was proud of his success. Obviously he was luckier then most to take the chance with gambling in the first place since he came from a very wealthy family, but he had broken away from his family ties and now did everything on his own.

That was the best part of all.

"Life isn't fair, duh." He let out a light chuckle. "That's why I think you should keep being a damn good student and be better then everyone here, even if that means studying hard. I won't make fun of you for working hard at that." He grinned at her and hoped she'd approve that. "And please, as if I would ask for anything in return. I just like when people are happy- that's all. No one owes me anything." Well, besides the buttload of people who owed him money, but that was different circumstances.

"It's my fault for bringing your work ethic up since now I've stressed you out. That wasn't my intention Ms. Peyton."

Peyton rolled her eyes. Modest as always. "You need to like, teach me how to gamble," she grinned, checking her watch as she did. Damn, they'd been here a while, it was almost time for her next class. A class which she wasn't going to miss. Pushing herself up, so she was sitting next to Cassius like a normal person might, Peyton continued grinning. "It can be taught, right? You must have a knack to it, with how much you win."

Life isn't fair. Now wasn't that the truth? "Eh. I suppose," she sighed, leaning her head on his shoulder briefly before pushing herself to her feet with a sigh, snatching her iPod back from him and stuffing it into her bag, which she'd since pulled out from under the bench. Her expression turned to one of amused 'oh really now?', as she held her hands out for him to pull himself up with. "Apology accepted, Mr. James. But unfortunately, I have class next. And I'd rather not miss another."

He was relieved to see her still interested in going to class. Even if he had preached to her to have more fun and all that, he'd be disappointed if she actually listened and starting ditching just because. Peyton was too smart for that sort of thing. He just hoped she knew that herself. "Gambling is all about luck with a little bit of skill and a ton of confidence. Anyone can learn." He smiled to assure her and watched as she made her way off the bench.

"Well, good luck in your class. Work hard for the both of us." He let out a light laugh before straightening his posture so he was facing her more appropriately. "Hopefully I'll see you this weekend?" He was pretty sure she had his number, but either way he knew he had hers. "Well set something fun up soon either way." And with that, he waved to her playfully while realizing it was probably time for him to go as well.

Luck and skill she knew. But confidence? She frowned a little, but nothing more, not wanting to get into a new discussion and end up missing her next class. "You'll have to teach me some other time," she grinned, tucking a strand of hair back behind her ear and checking her watch. Definitely time to go. With a smile to Cassius, spreading to a grin at his laugh, Peyton turned and headed towards the science block, giving a wave as she went.

"There's a party this Sunday, I think - I'll call you!" she called back, giving a mock salute before turning and concentrating on where she was heading, off to her next class. Which she most certainly wouldn't be missing.
