Kajji crouched down, to make himself a smaller target. Letting out a soft growl, he tried to appear threatening but knew it probably wasn't working. Deciding that running was his best option, the small cub turned and bolted away from the hyena's.

The soft growl of the lion did little to discourage the hyena. Not when he was well rallied up to prove his worth. Even with the lion crouching in a defensive stance Rasuli still looked for a way to snap and growl at him. Until that is, the black and gold pelted feline turned tail and dashed away.
Rasuli follwed a few yards, snapping and barking, just to be sure that the lion was seen off, and then prowled back, trying not to look too pleased with himself. He looked up to Mafa and lolled his tongue before licking at his teeth. He hadn't managed to kill the intruder, or harm it, but he had certainly frightened him off. Of course, though he wouldn't admit it, that was probably more to do with the fact Mafa was standing here as well.

There was a strange, unfamiliar look in Mafa's eyes as Rasuli came trotting back after chasing off the b*****d lion: pride. This little pup had been an excellent find and though she wouldn't admit it, the kid was growing on her. He had good instincts, he was fierce, ready to protect his home. She was sure that if that lion had attacked the kid would've come out on top.
After a brief second, Mafa's expression reverted back to being blank and her monotonous voice rang out once more, though in praise this time,
"Good job Rasuli, you'll be a good hyena yet"
Mafa's head rose a little, there were a few new scents in the air. Her call had attracted some hyenas, just as she had hoped. With a nod, she looked back to her little helper,
"Come, let's go see the others"
And with that, Mafa trotted off back in the direction she had come from, back to her skull and to the meeting.

Looking up just in time to catch that look on Mafa's face before it turned blank once more, Rasuli's heart swelled. A job well done. He seemed to have proved he belonged here. As Mafa spoke, he thought to memorise her words. He'll be a good hyena, oh yes he would!
He was caught up thinking about it that he almost missed the alpha's command. Or was it more of an invitation? In either case he hopped to his feet and quickly trotted after her, keeping close to her side but a couple of feet behind. He was excited to meet the rest of the pack that he was now a part of.

It wasn't long before Mafa had the skull in her sights. As she came closer, she saw a few hyenas she didn't know, others she did. There were two females that she was unfamiliar with, and then that Mtanga, brother to that lion loving hyena she so hated. And finally, Tukutu, who looked a little worse for wear. She turned to nod her head to Rasuli, gesturing for him to follow her and to sit near her as he had before.
The alpha brushed past all the others and hopped up onto the tusk, giving only Tukutu a nod of aknowledgement, and went onto standing as tall as a hyena could. She wondered if any more would come for she knew there were more sneaking around on her lands. But it was of no matter, if they were on her land, they belonged to her. Mafa huffed, her tone was dry, with a hit of anger in it as well,
"Names, I want your names, especially those I don't know. If you're here, you're part of my pack and you're staying, so I suggest you make yourself familiar with the place."

Ohsnap, there was a voice, she was sure she had heard a voice! Zoma picked her head up quickly, ducking it down almost a second later from bumping it on the top of the rib cage she had crawled into. Her head poked out, cobalt eyes grew, ears perked up.
"Oh!" She gasped, elated and pratically tumbled out of the cage of bones towards the others - thankfully catching herself early and turned the tumbling into a half-trot. Zoma skitted to a stop a mere foot from the other two and beamed as much as her muzzle would allow.
"Hi! I'm Zoma." She pratically chirped, while half her brain was trying to tell her to not be so spastic; not a good sign to what seemed to be the leader. Oh man, had it been like forever since she saw something living or wasn't going to be food! And did this other female just pretty much invite her to the pack? Oh, did those blue-ish eyes grow with joy.

Rasuli followed her through the bones and into the group of awaiting hyena. His eyes looked about him, never having seen so many canines in such a long time. It was a little unnerving, he had impressed Mafa but not these ones. However, if the alpha's word was law, as it should be, then that shouldn't matter. Still, it was a great relief when she nodded for him to sit by her side as before and it re-boasted his confidence.
As he sat, he took his time to look at the others. There was a couple of males and females. He noted the small nod to one such male, a grey like Mafa, and he sniffed. Hmm.. kinda familiar, like the old scent in Mafa's skull den...
however his thoughts on that stopped when the black female approached. He smirked at her clumsy footsteps and upbeat greeting, but stayed quiet for now.

Mafa kept a cold glare plastered on that ugly mug of hers as she stared out at the 'crowd'... Or the few hyenas that had come. She was dissapointed that so few had arrived, she knew there were more out there, quite a few more. Oh well, no matter, they would pay for their lack of dilligence in one way or another, Mafa would see to it so.
It was then that the oddly marked black female spoke and Mafa's icy gaze flitted toward her. Zoma eh... This one didn't seem very agile, not at all, could she even hunt? Mafa wondered if she could even trust this female to help with the hunting for the pack. But for the moment, the young leader nodded,
"Zoma, sure. Can you hunt, fend for yourself? You'll be doin a lot of that here." It was at this point that Mafa's gaze parted from Zoma and panned the others, "That goes out to the rest of you"
With an even further narrowing of her eyes, Mafa quickly glanced to Rasuli. She didn't know if he knew his way around the hunting grounds, she could share her meals with him, but no other. The little weasel had wormed himself into the black hole that was Mafa's conscience, she couldn't just leave him to fend for himself, the graveyard was a dangerous place, as its name suggested.

[ I was going to wait for others, but it seems no one else wants to reply.. saddness ]
Zoma's continued wide gaze danced between the two hyena, unsure of what to say. Well, she was sort of hoping for them to introduce themselves without her request; which kind of put a small damper on the chipper hyena, finally getting her eyes to a normal size. New friends and didn't know what to call them, would she have to make some up or something? Oh, nicknames!
"I've managed to survive this far. I'm pretty good at catching birds and lizards and small things and.. some stuff that manages to get in here that I manage to come across..." She rambled in response to Mafa, excitment returning, "So yeah, I can fend for myself. Are we not doing it as a pack?" She questioned with the same upbeat tone, tilting her head to the side which allowed her mess of a white mane to flop over.
"Aren't we a pack? Isn't that what we do?" Okay, maybe she was confused and maybe it had been a long time since she had been around others of her kind, but she could have sworn her family used to hunt together...

The youngest member of the pack thought on Mafa's words. Could he fend for himself? Well, he could catch small prey ok. Lizards and mice mainly. And he had a nose for forgotten marrow inside fresher bones. That was certainly tasty. But take care of himself... by himself? He'd never worried about that before. First there'd been mother and uncle, then a short spell alone before finding his guiding voice, the voice of a hyena god no doubt. That had taken care of him and told him what to do and where to look. And now there was Mafa. Sure she wasn't outwardly caring but he stuck close. Even at night he slept near her den, or in it if he felt she wouldn't mind, for the protection she gave.
"Mafa doesn't want a weak pack." The pup suddenly spoke up to Zoma, and anyone else listening. "Can't have hyenas lagging and being useless. You have to be able to take care of yourself before you can help strengthen the group." He spoke with a steady confident tone, almost as if it weren't his own words coming out of his mouth.
