Misaki walked along in silence, but she seemed to almost bob her head to a musical tune that wasn't there. She was listening to her Brother's jewelry cling together and making a song out of it.
As she neared the end of the path she let out a loud whinney and called out to her sister, "Vara....Vara!" she called and waited for an answer, "Vara, Come see!" she broke into a wide smile. She knew her sister had not seen Brother for many moons either, she knew she would be surprised and taken back.

Avalokiteshvara's ears pricked up at the familiar sound of her sister's voice. She hadn't expected to see Misaki today but it was a good surprise to her that she was. "Misaki! What have you found?" she called in return while trotting briskly to the source of the voice. A bright smile was on her face when she emerged to see the two of them, a smile that gave way to shock. Though years had passed she recognized her brother as if it had been only yesterday they had parted. Though she was still reeling with surprise the smile returned to her face brighter than it had been.
"Brother!" she called out joyfully before bounding up to him with all the energy of a filly. Amitabha too felt the same shock of recognition when he saw Avalokiteshvara. The smile he returned her was a far quieter expression but still infused with warmth. "Sister," he said to her greeting. "It has been too many years." He accepted her nuzzle of greeting and then glanced to where Misaki stood. "Misaki led me here. I should have expected you two to have found each other already."

She laughed at the two of them, "That you should have known, Brother!" she nudged him, but then offered the truth. "It actually took us many years, we have only recently become reaquainted with one another,"
She took a few steps back so that she could take in the full view of her siblings, "Brings back fond memories," she smiled and lowered her head. "We should not have separated for so long... We have missed so much of the other's lives."

"We certainly have missed a lot!" Vara exclaimed with the same unbridled delight. "Look at you, brother! You're decked out like a king! Between you and Misaki I feel positively shabby." She smiled as she said these words and shook out her long and loose mane. Vara had never seen the need to decorate herself with the finery that her family seemed to enjoy but she didn't begrudge the others their enjoyment in it either.
Amitabha's smile turned more dry. Vara was as spirited as ever it would seem. He wasn't surprised. "We haven't seen each other in years and the first thing you can think to say to me is about the jewelry I wear?" he asked with a mild note of amusement. He glanced back at Misaki. "If there have been many years between our last meetings it only means that Fate has sealed us that much more strongly together. Many soquili see their families every day, but what other family can say that they came together again after so long apart?"

"Fate has definately blessed us, not all families can find one another again after parting ways." She smiled and looked over her siblings with a loving gaze.
"Unfortunately, Vara.... Brother bears bad news." she took a few steps towards her sister, her voice calm. "Mother and Father have passed, but they went together in peace." she knew that the fact of them passing together would ease the pain for Vara just as it had her.
"At least now though, we're all together again," her head bobbed.

Vara's smile fell off her face. Her parents were dead? She shut her eyes and took several deep and calming breaths. Her parents were dead. This was not surprising and it didn't need to be tragic, either. Every living creature had to die some day and they passed in peace.
When she opened her eyes again tears stood in them but did not fall. "Yes, we are together just as our parents are together in the afterlife before their next reincarnation. Thank you for bringing this news, brother."
Amitabha nodded in acknowledgment. It was somber news he had brought, yes, but it was news that they must have expected somewhere in their hearts. Like Vara, Amitabha knew that no soquili could truly live as an immortal. They all would meet their fate sooner or later.
"Is there anything else either of you would like to know?" he asked while looking between the two of them.

She gently nuzzled her sister's neck to comfort her. "This is true, very true."
After a few moments had passed, she looked over to her brother. "I, for one, would love to hear of your journeys!" she eyed his many adornments, "You look as though you've done well. Tell Vara and I of your travels!" Misaki loved learning new things, she would love to hear what her brother had been into.

"Yes," said Vara a little too quickly to be casual. "Tells us of where you have been, brother." That was a safe subject that they all could enjoy, though her grief would not be put off forever. Truly it came as no surprise. Their parents had been undoubtedly old soquili at the time of their passing. Vara wasn't exactly a young filly herself anymore.
Amitabha's mind went back upon the sights he had seen since his last parting with his sisters. If he told the entire story of it they would be there until the next summer. "I have traveled here and there through countries whose names I didn't know and through countries whose names I still don't know now," he said slowly and thoughtfully.
"The humans that live in those lands have created temples and monuments that glitter more brightly than jewels but stand as tall as trees. It was a humbling experience to see them. The soquili of different lands were just as varied and sometimes beautiful as well."

Misaki let her mind wander. She had traveled to far off lands, but mostly ones with only small tribes of two leggers. She had never gotten close enough to encounter one, but she had watched them from a safe distance. She imagined the temples they built, glittering more brightly than her brother's adornments.
"I imagine it was a sight to see, Brother," she smiled. "Did the two leggers make your adornments?" she nosed them causing them to jingle.
"My wrap was made by two leggers, but gifted by another soquili. I've never encountered a two legger myself."

Amitabha's gaze became distant as he remembered those far off days and places. "Some humans are kind and some are not. They are much like our own race in that respect. I would not suggest befriending a human without knowing whether the human was a kindly one or less so..."
A soft breeze blew and jingled the dangling pieces of jewelry that he wore. "But it was the humans who adorned me. Though I could not understand their words I could understand their meditative silence and their gentility." A rare touch of emotion colored Amitabha's words, longing. "If I could be anywhere in the world I would go back to those calm and quiet souls, but that land is far behind me and there are none like them here in these lands."

She was in awe of her brother. Not only had he met humans, they had gifted him with such treasures. "You must have been special to them," her head bobbed. "Maybe one day in the future we could all visit them?" she looked to Vara.
Misaki was still a wander soul at heart, but she new Vara's roots had taken hold here with her family. It would have been fun to travel the lands as siblings again.
