Vali never ceased to be amazed when lust spawn named their tentacles. He was sure now having met another spawn with tentacles and how they acted that each one had to have its own personality. That was really cool! He wondered what it would be like to share a body with another.
But he was taken from his thoughts by Bleez. He smiled hearing Sandy talk about pancakes too. "Well I look forward to trying them. I have never had either before!" he laughed softly then turned to the woman saying that the tour would be starting. "I'll be right behind you Rhys!" he said encouraging the smaller spawn to take the lead.
Dooma turned to look at Sam and she gave a bow of her head, "The pleasure is all mine Sam. My name is Dooma. It is nice to see that a few other spawn had the same idea of coming here today."

Bleez tilted her head at the names, it was like naming an arm or a leg to her... just weird. But whatever, she thought, to each their own, as Moira would say. It's not good to judge people.
In a blink after hearing Rhys, Bleez bolted to his side, brushing past the others. "Ooooo! We're.starting!"
Moira snapped her fingers, pointing to her side. "Bleez," her tone was a bit stressed, she didn't want the spawn to go zipping about. Bleez waited for the others to pass her, a disgruntled look on her face. Her mother caught up to her without my effort. "Come 'ere, please. You can't go runnin' off each way. It's not polite and it could be dangerous." She tossled Bleez's hair. "Now, you can walk about, but please, stay with the group and don't be runnin' everywhere."
Bleez still wasn't pleased with being called out in front of the other spawn. She huffed, letting a hiss escape the fanged side of her mouth. "YES, mum." She crossed her arms and walked slowly with everyone else.

Sandy had been surprised that Rhys had actually taken the time to sort of talk to their tentacles. Some of the other children the spawn had met talked about them or looked at them but they never well spoke to them, it was sort of weird since they couldn't talk back and Rhys wouldn't understand their weird tentacles signs anyways. As it was the golden limbs all wriggled and pointed their tips in the direction of the dark skinned spawn before resuming previous activities
Sandy grew excited once they started to walk forward but the child still didn't stray far from his father. Unlike the others they weren't in any hurry to see everything or be at the front of the line. After all trees and pancakes couldn't run away. Still Sandy tried to keep up because they did still want to talk.
Carly grinned as she lead the group into the forest. There were trees everywhere lining the path they walked and in some of them were little plastic spigots. Instead of dripping into a bucket though the syrup came out the end into a clear plastic tube which was wound around trees and stretched off into the distance. It was all in all sort of funny looking.
Carly paused after a few moments in front of an old tree that also had a spigot in it but did have an old fashioned wooden bucket underneath. She grinned and explained how after people discovered the syrup and how it could be used in food as a substitute for sugar they used this methods to collect it and that it took a long time for any real amount to be collected. the tubes they saw around the trees today were used because it was more efficient and cleanlier.
"Any questions so far?"
" How come it isn't bad for the tree." Sandy asked curiously. they might not feel pain but wasn't this like stealing it's blood.
Ahh this question, you got it every year. " It does a little and trees we tap for syrup can"t grow as much the next year but as long as we don't do it too much or use the same trees each year they'll still be okay."

Rhys settled down as the tour began, content to hold his father's hand and listen to Carly talk. At least he appeared to be listening.
"Da? Can we get some syrup?" he asked out of the blue. The boy hadn't really mastered the art of the whisper and his question rang out over the group.
"I'm sure there's a gift shop at the end of the tour," Sam said, his reply much softer than the spawn's question. Hopefully the tour guide wouldn't take that as an inquiry about the tour as a whole.

Vali watched all the other spawn behaving and he had to giggle at Bleez having to hold still. She really did not look happy at all. walked next to Dooma his tail always touching to looped under her shirt. Just to make sure she knew that he was not trying to run away. It was amazing to him to see so many trees all connected together. He wondered if any of them shared thoughts. He knew from a book Dooma read him once that when someone tore a plan it did actually scream but it was on a level that no one could hear. So if they could scream they had to be able to feel or think. He wondered if those tubes hurt getting them in.
He listened to Carly explain though his attention did start to drift back to the tubes and a collective mind set. He wondered if spawn were all connected in some how. Maybe that is why they could always find each others to do group things or meeting them so often. He smiled and looked at the child with all the tentacles and started trying to think to him. "Hey.....How is it going over there. Good question about hurting the trees!" he thought without saying anything. He was so focused that he jumped when Rhys suddenly spoke.

Bleez stomped along, each step more and more pronounced. She wasn't paying attention to the guide or what she was saying.
Eventually, however, since no one was paying attention to pouting (least of all, Moira) she contented to walking silently beside her mother. She ended up catching the questions that were asked and answers given.
Bleez raised her hand as her mother told her it was customary. "'ow.much syrup.can.one tree.'ave?" she spouted when called on.

Sandy didn't have esp or any other psychic abilities but the spawn did have tentacles that noticed the staring and alerted them to it. They turned to the metal skinned boy and smiled, not wanting to speak and interrupt their guide or anyone else who might want to ask questions.
Epsilon wiggled and weaved in Rhy's direction attempting to communicate it's love for syrup to the black skinned spawn.
Carly had resisted the urge to laugh at the one boy's eagerness for syrup and instead directed her attention into answering a question others might have interest in. " The average tree here gives out about ten to twenty gallons of sap every year." That of course was for single tap trees, multi-tap ones gave out more but that was a bit more complicated than most average people wanted to deal with since you had to go into age and width dimensions and various things to judge if trees could take a second tap.
" The sap has to be boiled down to make t into syrup though which I'll show you later and so some of it evaporates and you end up with even less than before. It generally takes the sap of several trees all boiled down to make a gallon of syrup you can eat."
