“We’ll that’s perfectly reasonable, it’s called personal space for a reason.” Pilot said when the other boy discussed not liking other people not getting to close. When he mentioned his mom he glanced towards her and saw that she had settled in with her book and didn’t look to be moving anytime soon. “I don’t think she’s going to let me leave for a good while.”

Quint actually chuckled at the other boy's words, "Yeah, you seem one of the few that actually understands that. My brother does anything and everything to invade my space cause he knows it pisses me off. That or he's hoping if he does it enough that I'll stop being so touchy about it." He didn't really care about Kay's motivation for such things one way or the other. Quinn ate the last bit of his sandwich and chips and began to just focus on his drink.
He gazed where Pilot pointed his gaze and chuckled a bit, "She punishing you or something? Seems kinda harsh to do that to you," Quint observed as he reached up and rubbed at his nose in memory of a past punishment he had received from his guardian some weeks back. Just thinking about it hurt. Perhaps he should invest in some sort of guard for these weak spots of his...

“That’s mean of him, I mean that’d be like saying that if you dumped a bucket of cold water on him every morning to wake up he’d get used to it and like it. It makes no sense.” Pilot said with a frown, if someone wanted personal space then you should give it to them in his book.
Pilot gave out a put upon sigh at that question, “Yeeeeah. I was working in my lab and spilt grease on the floor and stepped in without noticing so when I got back into the house main I tracked it all through the carpet. She was kind of pissed.”

"Tell me about it. He does it to be an a** or somethin'." Quint said dismissively as he drank his beverage, "I don't think sense has much to do with my brother sometimes." It wasn't much use to complain about his brother's shortcomings because he doubted it'd change much even if he did. Kay accepted him as he was and so Quint did the same in turn though he wouldn't admit to any such foolery out loud.
Quint laughed a bit and shook his head, "That's a damn shame, sorry about that," he said sincerely though he wasn't sure why he was apologizing for the other boy's parent. Oh well. It seemed just then an ice cream vendor was coming by selling his wears, "Want some ice cream or somethin'? My treat."

Pilot just hummed and nodded in reply, there really wasn’t much he could say about siblings since he was an only child.
Pilot gave a rueful smile and shook his head, “Yeah, but here’s not much to be done, best just take my punishment.” At the mention of ice-cream he perked up a bit, he really liked the frozen treat. “That’d be fantastic! Thanks!”

"Heh, just sit back and take it, huh?" He smirked as he stood up and got a wallet out of his back and nodded a bit, "C'mon and let's go see what he has," Quint said with a quiet tone as he turned and then moved toward the vendor as he was starting to pass, waving him to come to a stop for he was about to become a customer.
He made his selection first and then waited for Pilot to come join him as the ice cream man got the vanilla ice cream ready in its waffle cone.

Laughing slightly at Quint's summary Pilot nodded in agreement, "Yup, just about all that can be done."
Glancing over the selection Pilot went with what Quint got as well. After all they where soft serve ice-creams and vanilla was the best flavor for those types in Pilots opinion.

Quint paid for both of the ice creams and then turned to lead the way back to the towel just so they could sit and enjoy their ice cream and share a bit more about themselves, or at least in Quint's case, try to. He licked a bit at the ice cream as he stared over at the ocean before he came up with a question, "So what do you actually like to do? You know if you're given the choice and s**t," the shark-boy asked bluntly.
It wasn't that Quint had the inability to communicate without cursing he just did it without really thinking about it. He didn't mean to offend anyone that was for certain.

Trailing after Quinn and plopping down next to him Pilot enjoyed the small amount of quiet before Quinn spoke up, slowly eating his ice-cream. “Hmm, well, I’m a bit of an inventor so I guess working down in my lab. It’s a lot funner than most people give it credit for; I mean I get to blow up things all the time and mom lets me use a welding torch despite how young I am. What about you?” He replied after a few seconds of thinking, he’d been a bit hesitant because some people scoffed at the idea of working on stuff all by yourself, they preferred to be out and about but Pilot liked the quiet.
Truthfully speaking, Pilot didn’t even notice Quinn’s swearing, Ophelia could get quite the potty mouth when her muse escaped her and the magazine’s deadline was approaching.

Quint shifted his shoulders a bit, "Sounds interesting the way you talk about it," the boy admitted as he continued to enjoy his treat that he had bought for himself. When questioned about his interests he paused a little, "Aw hell, I dunno. I got a fish tank back home I take care of but I'm lookin' for my thing, I guess," he answered with a small shrug and a bit of a chuckle. "I guess I could get into surfing or something? Maybe one day. Not really feelin' like lookin' into it y'know?"
He shifted his shoulders and gazed over at Pilot before he spoke again, "You're a pretty alright kid."
High praise indeed from Quint.

Pilot smiled to himself at Quinn’s reply, it was nice that someone else thought so. Humming thoughtfully at Quinn’s answer to his question he found himself nodding in agreement, “Not everyone finds there thing right away, it’ll come. And just because you’re all shark-ish doesn’t mean it has to be related to water you know? You may be surprised but what you end up doing.”
This time Pilot’s smile was for Quinn, “You’re not bad yourself.”
The small moment was interrupted by Ophelia making her way over, offering Quint a curious smile. “Come on, I think I’m getting sunburned and I forgot to bring any sun screen so we better head off. Say bye.”
Actually feeling slightly saddened by the prospect despite how reluctant he’d been to come he sighed and hopped up, giving Quinn a small wave as he did. “Maybe I’ll see you again?”

Quint nodded a little, "Yeah true. Seems too obvious or some s**t," he shrugged dismissively and smiled a bit. It felt good to not be judged for how he looked or to have someone not make assumptions on his hobbies just because he looked partially like a shark here and there. Not that anyone ever said anything to him about it he just figured they were thinking it. He could feel it.
"Haha, damn straight," he said with an actual portion of cheer before he finished his cold treat and suddenly there was a woman coming over to apparently claim Pilot. Quint wasn't rude to her he just nodded to her to show that the lady was acknowledged and let the two interact without interrupting.
The shark boy nodded a bit, "Yeah, sure. Wouldn't mind it," he said simply. "Don't blow anything up again," he laughed a bit teasingly at Pilot.
After a few moments he started to pack up so he could head home.
