She was about to comment about how his star seed count wouldn't matter (as he never brought any in to begin with) but as Ursula watched her loaned copy of Twilight sail through the air, brush against Audrey's curls and then smack Khaldun directly in the face, she decided the comment could go left unsaid.
Drew rose from the couch and Khaldun was soon to follow. She cleared her throat to get both boys' attention, Khaldun begrudgingly returning to his chair with Audrey's prompting as the redhead continued to linger standing, a smirk spread wide across his face.
"As I stated before, I expect all of you to manage your time wisely between all the activities you're responsible for. With as many lieutenants as we have, barely any of them know how to retrieve a star seed properly, much less have a steady count coming in. We have seventeen lieutenants and seven captains. On average, what, only nine or so lieutenants actually bring in star seeds? Even if the current Captains' star seed count decreases with your new work, which it shouldn't, the new lieutenants being trained will be bringing in star seeds to make up for it, plus some. Get it?"
It seemed Ursula had more logic than Audrey had expected. Even more surprisingly, she wasn't being snapped at over it - the evening apparently would go on to be crucifixion-free.
The room fell quiet and the others watched as their leader's mind seemed to wander elsewhere. Her eyes weren't meeting theirs, instead falling back down to the blank page in the notepad staring back up at her.
Finally: "He has other things to be distracted with, at the current moment. This is my Dark Kingdom and I will run it as I see fit, though all of your concerns over Charonite's awareness have been accounted for and noted. This decision, I assure you, was not an easy one to make. But there are casualties in every war. No leader wants to be faced with the idea of losing their followers, but it's already clear that if we don't put an end to this, then the Lunars will continue to pick us off one by one as they have in the past. What are we supposed to do, if we continue running away?" Her eyes fell back towards Khaldun, who refused to return her stare, "Kunzite's going to continue to come after every one of us and is going to continue injuring or killing each of us. Are we really just going to stand around and let him get away with this? No. I would much rather receive a report of a lieutenant dying in attempts to kill Kunzite than learn they died getting stabbed in the back because they were running away from Kunzite."
By this point, her fingers had wrapped themselves around the edge of the notepad, the pressure of her grip creasing the paper. "As far as the General-King is concerned, should any situation like that occur, I will deal with him and it personally. Unless you are in physical combat with your opponent, there should be absolutely no reason for him to discover that we're after the Lunar, Zodiac, and Cavalier leaders. I will discuss with him about the groups - there is no point to the rank of Captain unless you take responsibility and help oversee those in ranks below your own. I will talk to him about that but your missions are to remain between yourself and me. Should I find out anything otherwise has been said, you will be wishing that you only had to face Deathcord. Let him learn by giving him the head of Chronos, of Kunzite, of Astraea. Until then, you will say nothing."
It was her turn to rise from the couch and she leaned over to pick up her purse from the ground. Tucking the notepad within it, she turned back towards the group. "Khaldun, you can teleport back to your dorm room when you're finished eating and I'll know if you fail to do so otherwise. Please don't try to test me. As for the rest of you, I'll be seeing each of you later on this week to further discuss your new agenda and subordinates."
Leaving them to awkward silence, she made her way out to the door, Drew only feet behind. As the door closed, the remaining Captains spent the next few moments simply staring at one another from across the room.
That is, until Audrey brought out the cobbler and Aree began rummaging through the DVDs, quickly turning their solemn meeting into what both Charonite and Queen Beryl would refer to as "******** ridiculous".
