(*Has never heard of the ones that anyone else is mentioning.*)I'm hoping to learn Haku-tsuru (White Crane) soon, but my father's instructor hasn't shown either of us that kata. I work on all my kata, training to improve my technique and discover new applications. 3nodding I've been working my kihon wazas alot for the sake of my kids at the Y.

Hiean Shodan and Pennon Shodan are the same exact kata, but it might translate different.
Anyways, the next one, Hiean Nidan, out of all the katas I've learned Hiean Nidan took me the longest.

That set of katas was developed from the advanced katas to teach school children in Japan. The name's pretty much all mean "intermediate".

I learn katas extremly fast. I learned Yodan, Godan, and Tekke-shodan, all in one week. I've been working sienchin. But I know that one now too. And now I need to learn something new. But my sensei is going to have to talk to my shihan about what I'm going to be allowed to learn.

Sorry, green belt, I forgot. sweatdrop Still, I've seen schools at teach adavanced katas early so that they can do well in kata competition. I get a little wary of such things.

Yea, it's not a normal thing. I know higher katas than the all of the purple and brown belts at the dojo. So it's not like they teach them to lower belts on a regular basis. But yea, it's defidently helped me in compitition kata. I've gotten all 1st places, except for 1 second place, so yea....

Because I learn things freakeshly fast. I learned all of the Hiean katas by the time I was a yellow belt. (That's our third belt. White, orange, yellow.) So they started teaching me Tekke-shodan and Jion when I was a blue belt.
