entervixen Hats are typically a good place to start if you want to learn to knit in the round. It's because you don't typically get the ladder stitches (which look like a run in a stocking) because there are no "joins". And when you finally do get to the part where you would use double pointed needles, you have done enough round knitting to get the idea of how to use double pointed needles. Alternately, there is this "magic loop" method I keep hearing good things about. I haven't looked it up, but I figure it's like the method in one one of my sock books, just applied to socks instead of hats, heh. So that's always an option too. speaking of making hats, i finally have the right needles to try to knit one in the round!! next time i see you vixen, i want to try making another hat!! the one i made for my sister was....ummm......deformed? it worked out ok in the end though.

I totally finished knitting my altar cloth, woo! I used white bedspread thread (equivalent to size 10 crochet cotton thread) and size three circular needles. The pattern was a modified f*****t stitch ( knit two together, yarn over, knit one across) which produced a lacy cloth. I'll post pics once I can find my camera charger. It's quite pretty, I think.

I have to finish a Shrug in one week for a Victorian train ride!!! The dress is pink and the person who its for hates pink!!! But she loves the dress. She wants a shrug because the dress has no sleeves and to her the Victorian aged women always covered their arms. I am going to use a worsted weight yarn because I only have a week, so I am looking for a nice lacy pattern to make up for that fact YIKES

If you want to use a bulky weight yarn you can try this pattern: splendid triangle shawl. I made one for myself and seriously finished it in something like two or three days. You could also try holding the worsted weight yarn doubled for it, if you wanted to.

I still giggle at the mental image of them running through the house with it while screaming.

It was a typical project, things were going along great for the first five days, I got busy on day six and didn't work on it and then had all kinds of problems on day seven, I was up until six in the morning getting it finished. She needed it at nine. Needless to say I was sleeping when she came to get it, I haven't even seen it on her yet!!!
