Lila listened to what the male said. She looked down a bit awkward not sure what to do. "Um...I guess we're in the same boat then? Not trusting others and mostly fending for ourselves." She went quiet for a sudden before sadly whispering. "Even when no one thinks you're going to make it." She eventually tipped her head back to show manners. It was the least she could do. "You're welcome. It was the least I could do anyways. I'd be a foolish idiot anyways just to leave you there."

Raush nodded his agreement. He had caught her whispered words, just barely, but didn't comment - simply assuming it wasn't meant for him to hear. Stretching, the red coyote tested to make sure nothing was seriously harmed. "Well I appreciate the fact that I had the help from you and the vixen." His reply was still formal, if not a little stiff.

Lila looked down a bit not sure what else to say to him. "Well...you're welcome." What else could she say? "Her name is Sofie and I'm Lila. I just let her have some of my food one day and now she thinks that she owes me." She had a hint of sadness in her voice, but yet it didn't sound that loud. "Truthfully...I don't wish anyone to pay me back. I've lived alone most of my life without help and I'm used to it right now. The world...is a cold place most of the time if you're not careful."

Raush's gaze flickered in suprise. She seemed to have suffered more than her appearance and usual demeanor - from what he'd learned of it - would have given away. "That is true, but while there is dark there is also light somewhere in the world as in everything." He growled softly. The male didn't know why, but he was now curious about this other coyote.

Lila looked up and towards Raush. For a hint she had some sadness in her eyes, but it eventually switched to anger. "It can? I was abandoned by my mother and father. Left to die, because I was born with a disease. A disease that destroys your body from the inside out and will eventually kill you once you hit a certain age. They didn't even take time to be with me before they left me at a tree in the woods." She paused for a second looking back down. "They told me...they were going to get me some supper, but they never came back. I eventually found them talking to other coyotes about what happened and they said they didn't need one who was already dead. After that I knew I could never show myself to them again. How dare they! I then resigned myself to a rogue. Fighting others who would dare try to challenge me."

Raush bared his teeth at Lila. "Don't assume that you're the only one who's suffered in life." Fur bristling, he continued in sharp snarls and growls, "As you can tell you're still alive. You can catch prey fine and have a familiar. Among probably a plethora of other things. Sorry for trying to cheer you up!" He finished with a harsh bark. With narrowed eyes he turned around and bounded off. That was exactly why he hated others of his own kind. Either the other or he himself would become angered and/or vicious which is why he kept his distance. As he neared his makeshift home, the coyote male shook out the soot from his fur. He'd return to the river later, assuming the female would leave by then. As he lay down, Raush thought of his own past and closed his eyes as the memories flowed in.

Lila glared as the male left snarling under her breath. "Did you not hear that I am going to die you fool? Don't assume my life is all peaches and cream coyote! You yourself need to be educated that the world isn't sweet!" She eventually looked down at the ground tears actually coming from her face. "I thank you for the help and trying to cheer me up, but unless you know what it's like to be left to die with no one to watch you when you were younger then I really don't think you should be talking. What an arrogant and know it all. It was ones like this she hated that thought she had the easy life. She was beginning to regret helping him perhaps it would of been better to leave him with the fire on his own. She decided just to stay at the river. It made her feel more at ease anyways.

Raush growled in frustration. Maybe he didn't have an illness that would kill him off like Lila but he had been attacked, rather than abandoned by his family who often managed to find him and continue their assaults. Luckily his thick fur masked all of the injuries, although sometimes one would act up and slow him down. Ears alert, the male was prepared for any who happened to wander nearby. The memories of violence and pain flared in his mind's eye. Sad reminders of those dead by his own teeth and claws. Some family he gave a bitter little bark. One full of pain and loss. Opening his eyes, Raush watched the hesitant prey creatures move about across the way. They kept well away from his little thicket, wary of him due to his higher place on the food chain. The dark red and black coyote huffed a sigh. He'd already eaten that day, although the meal had been little more than a snack, so he wouldn't bother killing again. If he was in the mood, when he returned from the river, Raush planned to give chase to some of the creatures. This would stretch his muscles and distract him from memories of his parents, siblings, aunts, and the rest of the group that had banded together.

Lila laid her head down exhausted. She didn't have much energy, but yet she had a twinge of sadness in her. The pale red coyote just sat at the river not sure what to do. Her territory was burnt so she would probably have to get up and move again. Then again their was rumors of packs forming. Maybe one would take her in and be able to be of some use to them. Then again maybe not. She was already dead meat in the eyes of most coyotes. She turned her head back towards where the dark red coyote left. How comes he was the only one who cared enough to voice his opinion. Most would just laugh and scorn her and say she was useless, but he treated her like she had something. Lila's face completely frowned. She was so unsure what to do. Most of her lessons she learned from being independent and on her own, but yet for some reason that coyote made her feel a bit more comfortable. Lila lightly growled under her breath. "Oh god! What am I doing! I should owe him an apology in the least. It's not like he was trying to rip my throat out." She smacked a paw against her head for her own stupidity before wandering off to see if she could find him to apologize to him.

As he padded silently along, Raush kept alert and downwind of the river. He hadn't remained at his thicket as long as he'd originally planned and the red and black male wasn't sure if Lila hadn't left yet. His movement was silent, barely stirring the undergrowth he moved easily through. Slight stirring from up ahead caused the male to stop and use his senses to detect the source. Nostrils flaring, ears pricked, muscles tensed in preparation for defense or attack. His pale eyes shone as he waited silently. A pale flash of red caught his attention and the male cursed softly. Lila was walking toward him, although the path was slightly angled. Rather than remain low and hidden, Raush stood to his full height and continued walking. Maybe she'd have the right mind to keep away from him at the moment.

Lila sighed as she watched him leave. Maybe she should let him leave. Then again she needed to apologize to him. If he was going to attack her then she would resort to fighting, but she wasn't going to sink to his level of aggression towards her unless threatened. "Look...I'm not here to pick a fight with you if that's what you're thinking. I just came to apologize and it won't take long. I'm sorry for spilling out all that information on you. I don't know what your story is and for all I know you could have a worse one then mine. You were at least kind enough to try to cheer me up and I got upset remembering the past. The anger was not directed at you if that's what you were thinking. I'm just angry at my parents." She eventually stopped walking in his direction then started to back up the other way. "I'll let you be since I don't want to rile you up anymore then what I have."

Raush craned his head toward Lila as she spoke. Her apology seemed sincere, but the male wasn't sure if he cared any longer. "I won't get 'riled up' unless instigated most of the time," he sighed. "I understand the anger toward family, whether you believe me or not. And either way, I'll most likely leave your territory soon so you won't have to put up with me much longer."

Lila shook her head. "Actually...this isn't my territory. Mine got burned to the ground in the fire back there." She looked at her paws. "I guess I could always find another area to live in, but I really don't feel like taking someone else's land like some coyotes would do." She raised her head after hearing the family part. "Really? Well I don't see what it would hurt to believe you. I will for that matter, but even if you weren't telling the truth then it wouldn't really hurt me." She paused for a moment thinking about it. "Guess that's why you got to make a life for yourself. That way...when you see them down the road again if you do. You can be the reason itself to prove them wrong."

Raush felt bad about Lila's territory getting burned in the fire. "Although destructive, fire will bring more prosperity to the lands that it ate if there is enough water and sunlight to begin re-supporting the animals and plants that once lived and will live in that place once more." The dark red male had remembered the fire in his old home well and the kind words of one Coyote who'd not bothered to try and kill him - a lone female who'd come to visit the pack before they'd begun their attacks on him. Flicking an ear, the male refocused on their conversation. "As for packs and territory, there are many packs that our kind can join and be a part of. You wouldn't have to steal or claim territory necessarily if you were able to join another pack."
