Calelith VK Fox Questioning me is alright. I don't mind. It helps me grow in my faith. My problem is when people ask those questions in an attempt to be disrespectful. I've had people ask me a question about my religion and then pop out an insult every few words of my explanation. There's no reason for that. Depending on what you say and how you say it, they can effectively see your response as rude.
Of course. If I am being rude about it, then I don't expect them to be in the least bit respectful. I'm talking about when the conversation starts out something like "Hey VK, what do you believe about..." and I'm patient and open about my belief, which in turn opens myself up to that person, and they can't be bothered to at least pretend to be respectful.

i was always encouraged to question things.
we call it "respecting freedom of conscience"
one of the traits which also most appeals to me in the Buddha is that deep vein of skepticism.

Honestly, I question my beliefs so much that when other people do, it's kind of nice, because then I have someone to talk about it with...

DaikonNairu -Ren- Semiremis No. That would be a welcome improvement from those who have already made up their minds without questioning. What about those that view questions as an attack? I never really feel like I am being attacked when people question my beliefs. Even if it seems like they're being overly condescending or obnoxious or whatever, I always see that more as a debate tactic than as a personal affront. Besides, from my personal experience, people who get hurt and offended easily when you question their beliefs probably never actually thought their beliefs out very well to begin with.

I am but a servant... As long as you're not a complete a** about it and we can be asses together, question away. It helps me practice discussing my beliefs with others and helps them understand a certain aspect that they wish to further understand. It's win win really.

Questioning is cool, attacking... not so much. Although, I still have fun with the attacking at times. >_>

comfortably_dumb Questioning is cool, attacking... not so much. Although, I still have fun with the attacking at times. >_> I rarely attack (usually only after the person has been getting on my nerves for a long time). But in the public forums it seems that everyone interprets a disagreement as an attack. Its really annoying.
