Lily smiled before helping herself to some celery. She almost giggled as the crunch echoed through there silence. She quickly finished the celery stick off and swallowed.

"So Peyton, I haven't seen you before, do you volunteer often or maybe at some of the other shelters in the city," she asked making conversation. It was good to know about the other volunteer and Lily was really hoping to become friends with Peyton.

She picked up her sandwich and delicately took a bite trying and failing not to make a mess. The creamy dressing from the sandwich managed to make it was onto the corners of her mouth and a bit on her nose. Lily quickly dabbed it away blushing slightly looking to see if she grabbed a knife.

Sure enough, it stuck out beneath her plate and she picked it up to take revenge on her messy sandwich.

Woa, loud celery. Sounded really...crunchy. Peyton took a large bite of her toastie, feeling the lettuce in it crunch, although not nearly as much as the celery. Still, it satisfied the girl, as she quickly took another couple of chips, chomping down on them. Did she volunteer often? Her mouth full, the teen not wanting to be rude and speak with a mouth-full of chip-mush so instead just nodding, chomping furiously in an attempt to swallow her food quickly so she could reply. Her cheeks flushed red in embarrassment as she took a little too long, finally swallowing, gasping down some air before finally replying.

"Sorry! Uh...yeah, I've volunteered at this shelter for a couple of years now? I want to work with animals when I'm older, so it's helping with that. Giving me good experience and stuff, yeah?" she spoke, soon having another chip. She was nearly there - a couple more bites of her toastie and a handful more chips and she'd be done.

Lily watched as Peyton hurried to chew and swallow her food. She worked hard to fight the grin that was forming. She really did not wish to laugh, but it was a truly funny. Her grin faded when Peyton seems to be gasping for air.

"You okay," she said as Peyton began to speak. Lily sighed relieved the girl was fine.

She nodded chewing on another celery stick as Peyton spoke. Loud crunches easily drowned out my the conversation. "Looks like maybe we just managed to miss each other. I tend to volunteer at the animal shelter for about a year now, but I also go to the other shelters from time to time."

Lily smiled realizing the Peyton must have also handled Eamon. He was such a sweet dog. "Do you have a favorite shelter animal? Eamon is my favorite, though a family has come to see he three times now. I think he will be adopted soon and I am so happy for him. He is such a good dog."

* You called her by Eos name and wasnt she eating a toastie XD

((Fixed! Sorry, doing Selena's journal then instantly replying to this prolly wasn't a great idea xD; ))

Peyton nodded, feeling her pale cheeks flush a deep pink in embarrassment at the scene she'd created. She hated when you took a huge bite, then got asked a question. Pushing a stray strand of hair behind her ear, she allowed the rest to fall forwards over her cheeks, hopefully covering the blush. She was getting embarrassed about...being embarrassed. It was like a vicious circle, that never ended!

Another chip, another bite of toastie. Almost done, and a good thing too, since her belly was starting to give a contented, 'stopfeedingme!' rumble. "I tend to volunteer at the weekends, and Tuesday evenings. Perhaps our shifts just...never met before?" she suggested, shrugging as she took another bite, chewing quickly incase another question was asked. Eamon? She frowned, before nodding, realizing she recognized the name. ...Yeah, that puppy, the sweet one. "I don't like to pick favourites," she grinned, leaning back in her chair.

"I tend to be more of a cat person myself, though."

Lily picked up a piece of her cut up sandwich. She'd cut it so the piece fit easily into her mouth without a mess. This was done as quickly as she could and she swallowed her belly beginning to feel content, though she still had a bit more to go.

"Weekends are when I volunteer too, but I usually have things to after and leave before lunch. I have lessons during the week, so I can't volunteer in the evenings."

She took another piece of her sandwich popping it into her mouth and chewing it up. She almost grinned at Peyton comment on cat's and hurried to finish chewing her food.

"Cat are nice too, I love all animals in general. Eamon just pulled at my heart," she said after she swallowed.

Lily ate another sandwich bite and munched on some celery before she spoke again. "You said you wanted to work with animals right? Do you want to be a veterinarian or do you want to do something else?"

Peyton nodded, continuing to eat as she did. One last chip and she was done, pushing her plate forwards a little to signal that she was finished before plucking a npakin from the table, wiping her mouth clean. "It varies - I'll either volunteer all weekend, or only a couple of hours, depending on what I'm doing. I volunteer after my lessons."

"All animals are great, yeah. I just...I dunno, all types of feline. Domestic, tigers, lions, I love 'em all. Working in a big cat sanctuary would be, like...my dream." A dream she doubted she'd ever make a reality, but still, it was nice. The conversation turned towards her possible future career, and Peyton leaned back in her seat, crossing her arms in her lap, "I don't know, it honestly all depends on my grades at the end of next year. I'd like to do Veterinary, but I've considered studying behaviour."

Lily nodded finishing of the last few piece of her sandwich while she listened to Peyton speak. She left the rest of the celery having run out of cream cheese and being particularly full.

"I wish I could volunteer more, but between homework, piano lessons, ballet lessons, and practicing my singing I'm very short for time. If I can volunteer during the week it is usually at the community center singing for the children there and even still I do that on the weekends as well."

Lily tilted her head to the side, "I think you should try you hardest to make your dream come true. You know the old saying. 'Shoot for the moon fore if you miss you will at least be among the stars.' Though there are several variations of the phrase."

Lily smiled lightly, "My brother told me that one. I want to make it as a singer, during or after college and I can't do that if I don't shoot for the moon."

"Its very nice that you would like to be a veterinarian. It seems like a very fulfilling career."

Homework, Piano Lessons, Ballet, Singing. Geez, was there anything this girl didn't do? Peyton's eyes widened in surprise, though she managed a smile, nodding. This girl need to slow down, take a break. Woa, she did far too much... "Yeah, I'm trying for it, it's my active dream in a way. It's just I'm being realistic too, considering options and stuff."

She shrugged, not particularly wanting to talk about it. Her parents were always going on at her, trying to convince her to take other career paths, ones that might earn her more money. But that wasn't what it was about, not for the teen. It was about enjoying her life, and her career. "Singer? Woa, that's awesome - I'm rubbish at singing."

The conversation was beginning to wear thin, and Peyton was beginning to get bored. She glanced at her watch, beginning to tap her foot against the floor in a steady rhythm.

Lily nodded slightly looking out the window and wondered if she was being realistic about her own goals. She had so much encouragement that at the current moment she could not see how she was being unrealistic. She really had it all planned out. She turned back and smiled. "Sound like a good plan to me, realistic really is the way to go," she said. "If I didn't have my family and the community center to encourage me I would focus more on English. It is my best subject."

Lily smiled standing and gather her trash, "You done," she asked reaching to gather Peytons trash as well.

She didn't notice Peyton growing bored as she did so, "Yes, I've been singing for as long as I can remember. It is the one thing I am best at."

Encouragement didn't always get you where you wanted to go, though. Peyton frowned a little, starting to get the feeling that this girl hadn't quite worked everything out yet. She was still young - still at Meadowview, she hadn't really experienced the world yet. Peyton had a feeling she'd be disappointed, when she finally did get out there.

But she wasn't going to tell her that.

So instead she just smiled, nodding. "Yeah," she shrugged, allowing a grateful smile when Liliana made to grab her trash too. She didn't bother responding to her next words - it was more of a comment than a question, and she didn't really have anything she could say back. Glancing at her watch again, she sighed, pushing herself up. "I should get back, I've gotta clean out the rats this afternoon."

Lily smiled before turning to take the trash to the bin. She walked quickly over to the bin and dumped the trash before returning, just as Peyton was rising.

She stood before the girl smiling, "It was nice to meet you Peyton. I hope you do not have to much trouble from the rats. I am done for the day, my brother promised to meet me at the ice rink today, but maybe we will see each other around."

Lily turned and headed for the door, turning only briefly to bid farewell to Peyton as she headed out the door.

Peyton allowed a smile to grace her lips as Liliana returned from dumping the trash, a smile wide enough to match the red-head's. "It was nice to meet you too, I..."

...Oh. She was already gone. Peyton waved, expression a little confused as the girl left. Woa, quick farewells much? Shrugging, Peyton slipped her hands into her jacket pockets as she also left the cafe, heading back towards the animal shelter.

Rat poop, here she came...
